《Boy For Rent》ArthitxKongpob: Messing Up

Come to my apartment. We need to talk.

-Mr. Handsome-

Arthit had felt his heart drop the moment he'd read that text message from Kongpob. The past two weeks had felt different. He'd thought that they would be happy together, their relationship was quite new. They'd now been together for two weeks and there were exactly two weeks left of their contract. The holidays were coming soon. Christmas was ahead and Arthit was planning to buy some gifts for Baekhyun.

Arthit had mentioned it to Kongpob and they were supposed to go later in the day. He wanted to think that this was why Kongpob had called him over to his apartment but there was a feeling in his gut that told him that wasn't it.

He parked in front of Kongpob's apartment and headed towards the second floor where Kongpob lived. He'd been there two times in the past two weeks. Both times he'd spent the night and that first-time Kongpob had given him the key to his apartment. Arthit, of course, had given Kongpob his key as well. And yet, all the doubt he'd been hiding away and pushing back kept resurfacing for the past week.

He froze as he came to Kongpob's door. There was a box with things that all contained picture frames with his photograph as well as Kongpob's from various dates with him, or simply of him teaching. That picture of him with the hearts and the stickers around the frame which he though Kongpob had treasured so much was in that box, as well as a couple of clothes that belonged to him from having stayed over at Kongpob's house, and some that he'd let Kongpob borrow when he stayed nights with him.

Fear continued to creep in his heart more so when he realized the door was open. When he walked in his heart broke at what he saw. Kongpob was in a bathrobe, it was clear that he had just taken a shower, there were marks on his neck, marks that were in places Arthit had not left there. And then there was Sam, that man was hugging Kongpob and clinging to him tightly while tears fell from his eyes and he smiled. Arthit remained frozen it was as though his heart was being squeezed to the point of it shriveling up and dying.

"I knew that you would take me back. You love me. And I knew that they didn't matter to you. You always come back to me because you never stopped loving me." Each word was like a knife piercing Arthit's heart and the final blow was having that man kiss Kongpob. He dropped the keys that had been in his hand causing Kongpob to finally turn around and look at him. There was a look of shock on his face,

"P'Arthit.." Arthit took a step back and when Kongpob tried to go after him Arthit ran. He rushed past the door, he could see someone getting into the elevator and he just bearly missed it. He could hear Kongpob calling after him and he took a quick turn towards the stairs. Tears blurred his eyes as he continued to rush down the stairs, the only thing on his mind was that he needed to run.

"Arthit! Arthit!" His arm is grabbed by Kongpob just as he reaches the bottom of the stairs.

"Let go of me!" Kongpob pulls him close to him hugging him from behind tightly.

"Please! Please! I swear it's not what you think! Please baby-" Kongpob is crying and Arthit allows sobs to escape his own lips as he shakes.

"Let go.." Arthit manages to say after collecting himself just a bit.

"Not until you listen." Arthit pushes himself away from Kongpob and shakes his head.

"Listen to what? I don't need to hear you lie to me."

"I won't I-"

"Like you lie to me when you say that it's your Por calling and not Kyro from the agency? Like you lied to me about going to a meeting with you Por and you were at that stupid cafe with Kyro where you always meet your employers!"

"Arthit... all that I can explain."

"I don't want you to explain anything to me! I was just a job to you in the end! You never took me seriously and it was my feelings that you took advantage of because you knew I liked you."

"That's not true baby I-"

"Don't call me that!" Arthit shouted in tears.

"Arthit please... just listen to me I swear that I-." Kongpob begged in tears.

"Don't," Arthit spoke to him.

"Arthit please I-"

"Just be honest with me Kongpob. Did he leave those marks on you? Did he spend the night here?" Arthit is asking Kongpob.

"Arthit!"

"Answer me!" Arthit shouts angrily.

"Yes." Arthit raises his hand up to slap Kongpob harshly across his cheek before he can even finish saying that single word.

"Arthit..."

"I never want to see you again Kongpob. Whatever this was, it's over." Arthit then turns away and rushes out of the apartment. He heads straight to his car as tears fall from his eyes as he takes off in his car and he drives. His mind drifts to those moments all those lies, he feels so overwhelmed his tears blur his eyes making him lose control. A dog crosses his path and he just barely misses it and almost crashes against another car.

"Are you crazy! Look how you're driving! Pathetic!" The person on the other car shouts angrily at him. Those last words bring Arthit back to the past, with Namtarn and now with Kongpob.

"Why does this keep happening to me?" He cries. He hits his chest feeling so idiotic. He'd ignored all the signs for the past week even when they had been as clear as the day itself, simply because he loved the handsome man so much, he did not want to let him go.

"Why Kongpob? Why did you do this to me?..."

{1 week ago..}

The first thing that Arthit felt when he woke up that Sunday morning was warmth and a tickling sensation when Kongpob kissed his bare shoulder. Little shocks spread through his body which he tried to ignore when he felt Kongpob trailing kisses down his back while hovering above him.

Despite the fact that he pretended to be asleep it was hard not to smile, more so when he felt a kiss to his cheek.

"Morning love." Blushing Arthit opened his eyes. He didn't say much but welcomed Kongpob's lips against his own in a soft kiss.

"Morning Kong.." Kongpob's arms wrapped around his waist pulling him closer to his side. Arthit snuggled himself closer to the handsome man who began to run his hands through Arthit's hair gently only to laugh as glitter, and confetti fell from Arthit's hair.

"Blondie really knows how to throw a party." Konpgob spoke up. They had gone to Byul's birthday that Saturday which happened to be at the orphanage. It was more or less a party for the children with balloons and games and where Byul had given things for the children. Their friends had gone and after Byul's party they'd come back to his apartment and had ended the night passionately.

"You have some glitter too," Arthit spoke as he reached out to Kongpob's cheek. There were some traces of glitter on Kongpob's body as well.

"Yeah, but I think that's because I've been touching and kissing you all night and you have been doing the same to me" Arthit blushed as he realized there was a trail of glitter all over Kongpob's chest and going down his abs and even further downwards.

"I- shut up," Arthit spoke shyly causing Kongpob to laugh wholeheartedly at his reaction. Watching as the handsome man laughed Arthit's couldn't help the flutters that he felt in his heart. Looking up at Kongpob Arthit smiled. The past week had been an incredibly happy one. It was hard for them to keep their hands off each other.

"I love you." Arthit declared as he looked up at Kongpob. Kongpob smiled at him charmingly and then placed a kiss to Arthit's lips.

"I love you too." Arthit reached out to cup Kongpob's cheek pulling him back towards him in order to kiss him once more only to be interrupted by the sound of Kongpob's phone ringing. Both of them sighed as Kongpob got up from bed in order to grab his phone, which was on the floor again in his jean pockets.

"Por?" Kongpob was speaking, He gave Arthit an apologetic smile. Arthit offered his handsome man a kind smile and Kongpob simply pecked him on the lips when Arthit sat down on the bed.

"Today? But it's Sunday. Is it that urgent?" Kongpob questioned. Whatever his father was saying on the other line Kongpob had sighed and then looked at him.

"Okay. I'll be there as soon as I can." Kongpob had said before hanging up.

"You need to go?" Arthit questioned Kongpob who nodded.

"My father wants me to go to an important meeting with him. I'm sorry. I wanted to spend the rest of this weekend with you."

"It's okay. I understand." Arthit spoke up. Kongpob offered him a smile and then kissed him.

"I'll come back in the night. If you want me too?" Though Arthit was shy he found himself nodding because, yes, he wanted Kongpob to come back.

"See you later baby. Don't worry about cooking okay. I'll bring dinner."

"Kong don't b-"

"Don't worry about my money okay. I can spend as much as I want for you." Arthit was kissed softly on the lips, making him feel breathless. Kongpob then left his apartment and Arthit simply sighed throwing himself back on the bed. He touched his heart and smiled.

That night Kongpob had indeed come back as he'd promised. He'd done so with a big bouquet of yellow Chrysanthemums and a box of Lindor Chocolate truffles of every kind and a nice steak dinner. Arthit had not cared that he'd have school on Monday, he'd enjoyed himself to the fullest with Kongpob. Later on in the night, they'd received a call from Baekhyun who'd wanted to hear their voices before going to bed.

It was different to know that someone was depending on you, and yet, there was something so natural about it. Arthit had been happy. In fact, he had been sure that there was nothing wrong until that Wednesday. He and Kongpob had both agreed that they would have lunch together. He was looking forward to it because Kongpob had promised they would go to an Italian restaurant. He was promised an Italian dessert known as Tartufo. His choice of ice cream for the Tartufo was Strawberry and the outer layer was of course chocolate and nuts. If he had to choose two flavors inside the chocolate which is typical of a Tartufo then he would go for Vanilla too.

He'd been googling images since Kongpob had mentioned it on Saturday and he told Kongpob he'd want his meal planned around his dessert. Kongpob had laughed at him, calling him cute which had resulted in him pouting and caused Kongpob to kiss him.

Unfortunately, Kongpob had canceled his plans with him for their Wednesday lunch-date and told him that his father has asked him to a very important meeting. Arthit had understood and he really had not thought much of it. In the end, Byul had invited him out to lunch along with the rest of their friends/co-workers.

They'd gone out to the cafe where they had met Kongpob. Initially, Arthit had not been for it. But because he was not going to have dessert with Kongpob he'd opted for that piece of cake that he'd had last time he had been there. What he had not expected was to see Kongpob there with Kyro whom he had seen only because Kongpob had pictures with the man on his phone from his college days with the rest of his friends which had also included Em. Kongpob had shown them to him just a couple of days prior when they'd talked about their college life. Kongpob had told him Kyro was the owner of the agency and seeing the two of them together as he and Byul pulled up to the cafe in her car made his heart sink.

It made him realize that Kongpob was going to meet another client. It was then that the insecurities that he had tried his best to hide away came flooding back to him like a broken damn. Namtarn's words had come back. Despite that horrible feeling in his stomach he had tried his best to swallow it down.

Byul had also seen him and Arthit had simply lied to his friend and told him that he knew that he would meet Kyro there.

"Doesn't it bother you? That he's still seeing others when you're dating.... he sleeps with-"

"It's his job. I don't mind." He'd told Byul as he'd smiled. Byul hadn't said anything more to him after that and had dropped the subject. Arthit's mind had been completely clouded by that the rest of the day. Kongpob had then come to pick him up he'd said he'd prepared something special for the two of them.

He'd taken Arthit to his apartment. It was the second time that Arthit had ever been there. It was quite a simple apartment. It wasn't much bigger than the apartment he rented. But Arthit's heart had fluttered when he saw a picture of himself in Kongpob's apartment that first time. It was one that he was sure Byul had taken of him. It had been on Valentine's day that year. He had on a red sweater and there was a heart sticker on the top of his left cheek.

"You look so cute here. I like the way you're smiling." Kongpob had told him as he hugged him tightly. Kongpob had prepared a nice dinner for him. He'd had it delivered to them of course, as he could not cook to save his life. The dessert that he'd promised Arthit had come intact as they'd brought the dessert in a cooler in order for the ice cream not to melt. They'd had a bottle of wine to accompany their meal which started off with a salad, followed by fettuccini alfredo, and the desert that Kongpob had promised him. There had been a promise of a ricotta pie with Amerena cherries for next time.

Arthit had looked forward to it. Kongpob had apologized for not going out on their date and promised they would next time. Their night ended with passionate lovemaking but despite all this at night Arthit lay awake thinking about that afternoon. He'd momentarily forgotten his worries of the day but alone with his thoughts at night, they quickly came back to him.

Namtarn's words had haunted him more than ever. He felt so pathetic because he couldn't let go. Despite knowing there would be hurt and pain and knowing now more than ever that Kongpob's feelings were not real, he chose to stay. He chose to do so because he loved Kongpob beyond the point of return. All he could do now was wait for the pain.

That next morning when Kongpob had woken up, it was once more to a phone call. Arthit had been able to see Kyro's name on Kongpob's cell phone and when Kongpob had woken up he had immediately gotten out of bed after looking at his phone.

"It's my father." Arthit's heart had sunk then. From then on he'd smiled so fakely in front of Kongpob and yet he'd painfully cherished each moment, each kiss, each touch, and every single time they were together despite knowing only he was the one cherishing them.

From then on his time with Kongpob had felt like a ticking timebomb. It had been so painful, maybe he was a masochist or he just loved Kongpob so much that he'd desperately and pathetically clung on to him in such a way that nothing else seemed to matter. He had wished that each moment was real. He'd done his best to get Kongopb to love him and yet what he had witnessed in front of him between Kongpob and Sam had finally destroyed his heart and made him realize that he was never going to find happiness with Kongpob.

"Why do you keep being so pathetic Arthit? Why did you fall in love with a man who was never going to love you."

Tears fells from his eyes as he watched Arthit run out of his apartment building. He wished to chase after him and yet Arthit's words had caused him to remain frozen in his place. His heart ached as he realized how bad he'd hurt the person that he loved. It had never been his intention to hurt Arthit. Nor was it ever his intention to lie to him.

All that he'd done had been for Arthit in order to protect him and protect their relationship. He felt anger as he thought of Sam and how all of this had started because of that man.

Kongpob was really looking forward to his lunch date with Arthit. His days now were busy, mainly as he was shadowing his father in their businesses. His Por had tried to set up lunch meetings at times but Kongpob had rejected right away.

"These are times that I used with P'Arthit."

"Don't you go pick him up after work?" His father questioned.

"Yes. But if I don't see him before that I miss him too much." His father had shaken his head at him in amusement, his sister Boonsri had smiled at him and his little sister Ema had rolled her eyes at him and had made a gagging noise at him.

"So cheesy." She had exclaimed. Kongpob had not cared, he just wanted to spend as much time as he could with his cute little P'.

"When are you going to tell him that you two have met before?" His sister had asked him. His father had invited him and his sister over for breakfast that Sunday morning. He'd called it an emergency and had scared Kongpob that something had gone wrong with a business meeting they had the past week. It had been a business plan that Kongpob himself had been in charge of. However, his father had simply lied to him stating that if he had not lied Kongpob would have not come to see them as he was too busy romancing Arthit. Not that it was a lie.

He was happily enjoying his blooming romance with the cute man. He would have loved to spend every waking moment that he possibly could with Arthit. He had managed to stay at night with Arthit every single day since the past week, even taking the cute man to his apartment and giving him his apartment key. Arthit had given him the key to his own apartment as well as he was spending every night with the cute man. He didn't feel as though he was invading, or overstepping, much less that they were going to fast. There was something about their relationship that had felt so natural between the two of them. They were setting their own rules and living life the way they wanted to live it. Together.

"He's doing it again," Ema called out to him, snapping him out of his thoughts. He offered a smile to his family who were all looking at him.

"Sorry what?" Kongpob questioned sheepishly.

"We asked when you're going to tell him how you actually met him?" Boonsri questioned.

"Celery boy!" Ema spoke with a smirk. Boonsri and his father both laughed and Kongpob glared.

"Don't call him that! And it wasn't his fault that Blondie was messing with his hair." Kongpob defended. This earned more laughter from his family and Boonsri was the first to speak.

"We know. We won't call him that. It's just cute that you're defending his honor even when he's not here."

"Of course I have to. He's my boyfriend." His sisters smiled at his words.

"Son. I'm glad to see that you're so happy. I haven't seen Arthit in a long time. The last time I did you two were in the principal's office after he'd saved you from those bullies." Kongpob smiled at the memory.

"But I'd like to meet him again. If you want to bring him home. You've met his mother already and it's only fair that you introduce him to us as well." Kongpob nodded and smiled.
