《Boy For Rent》ArthitxKongpob: Feelings?

Arthit was cold. He didn't know why he felt like he was freezing but there was warmth radiating off the side and Arthit found himself moving closer to that warmth. A soft moan escaped his lips and he sighed happily burying his face closer to the soft woody and citrus scent that he liked. It reminded him of the way Kongpob smelled.

There was a soft groan which Arthit heard and he suddenly found an arm tightening around his waist. Arthit froze opening his eyes only to realize that he was sitting on the steps of his apartment building. It took him a moment to remember what happened the previous night. He bit the inside of his cheek as he realized that he had spent the night sleeping outside with Kongpob. He tried to move and the moment he did he winced realizing that he was incredibly sore from sleeping in that position.

"Kong..." Arthit called out gently as he tried to move away from Kongpob. He realized that there was Kongpob's white jacket tightly wrapped around his body. Even so, the days were getting colder and he was freezing. Arthit wondered how it was that he managed to sleep outside. He was met with a groan and slowly the other male woke up.

Kongpob looked so disoriented as he looked around and when his eyes met Arthit's Kongpob smiled at him.

"Kongpob... it's morning... we slept outside." Arthit found himself dumbly saying. Kongpob did not respond instead he pulled Arthit closer to him startling Arthit slightly at his actions.

"You smell nice," Kongpob mumbled sleepily after burying his face in Arthit's neck. Arthit blushed and he feared that Kongpob might be able to hear how rapidly his heart was beating.

"Kong..." Arthit could tell that Kongpob was still half asleep as he felt Kongpob hug him tighter.

"Five more minutes... then I'll go..."

"It's cold here Kong we'll get sick... Isn't your body sore?..." Arthit questioned gently. He was met with a moan and as Arthit looked at Kongpob he couldn't help but smile. It was the first time that Arthit had seen him so relaxed. The closer he looked at Kongpob the more he realized how burdened he must have been. His face had looked tired and Arthit knew that burdens held weight and affected the body especially things that were emotional and had been piling up for years.

He reached out to touch Kongpob's face. His nose was long, his eyebrows were a bit sharper and darker than his were. His lips were thin, his tan skin made him look even more handsome.

"So good looking." Arthit thought to himself. He gently caressed Kongpob's cheek and silently promised himself that he would be there for Kongpob. He understood him better than anyone. They had been through such similar things in life and yet, there was so much that was different.

Arthit was glad that he had Byul in his life and he felt that he could trust her with everything. Despite the fact that he had told his mother about his breakup with Namtarn he couldn't talk to her because she would worry about him. This was why he was thankful to Byul. She had been his support and his shoulder to cry on because she was someone he trusted wholeheartedly and knew that she would no judge him or make him feel ashamed or at fault.

As he looked at the handsome man beside him Arthit wondered if Kongpob had felt the same about his situation. He was sure that Kongpob had not told anyone about Sam. He would not have cried the way he had, nor would he have looked as sad as he had if he'd spoken to anyone.

"Isn't there anyone that you trusted Kongpob?" Arthit thought silently. Suddenly Kongpob opened his eyes to look at him, startling Arthit a bit and making him feel flustered. He still had his hand on Kongpob's cheek and when he tried to remove his hand Kongpob reached out and held it in place.

"Kong...." Kongpob did not reply but simply held his hand tightly. Arthit did not know what to do, what to say or how he should react.

"Arthit...I'm sorry...."

"Why are you apologizing?" Arthit questioned.

"For keeping you out here all night."

"I was the one that fell asleep Kongpob."

"I know... but I didn't want to wake you up and..."

"It's okay." Their hands remained locked as they both sat properly and looked at one another.

"I know that I'm the one that's supposed to help you and be there for you it's my job" Arthit felt a pang at Kongpob's words but could not say anything.

"Even so, thank you for being there for me." Arthit felt his hand being squeezed and Kongpob smiled at him gently.

"You should go inside already. You'll catch a cold if you stay here much longer." Kongpob caressed his cheek before he finally stood up and extends his hand out to Arthit in order to help him up. For a moment Arthit hesitates but eventually, he takes his hand and stands up.

"I should go then..." Arthit is about to remove the jacket from his shoulders but Kongpob stops him.

"I'm fine okay. Don't worry about me. Just go inside." Kongpob tells him as he reaches his hand out to ruffle Arthit's hair.

"I'm going inside. You have to go home. It's cold outside." Kongpob smiles at Arthit's words and shakes his head. He takes a step to Arthit and pulls the jacket closer to Arthit.

"Don't worry about me okay. It's my job to worry about you not the other way around." He plays with the buttons on the jacket and as he looks at Arthit he moves closer. He places a kiss on Arthit's forehead causing Arthit's breath to hitch slightly.

"Thank you for being my friend." When Kongpob moves away Arthit's heart is racing and despite this not being the first kiss that Kongpob has given him there's a different air to it that Arthit can't really seem to figure out.

"I'll see you later," Kongpob tells him, Kongpob then pushes Arthit to move by nudging him gently. Slowly Arthit begins to walk inside his apartment building. When he looks back at Kongpob he is already walking away. Sighing Arthit heads inside.

When he enters the elevator and the doors close he leans against the railing behind him. He looks at the jacket on his shoulders and pulls it closer to himself. Kongpob's scent still lingers and Arthit sighs bitting the inside of his cheek because he knows that despite the fact that he offered Kongpob friendship, in his heart something else has begun to gnaw it's way inside.

"Arthit. Wake up. You can't fall in love with him. At the end of the day, all you are is his client and nothing more." He sighs pulling the jacket closer to himself.

"What am I going to do?"...

Walking inside the Boy For Rent building Arthit was greeted by the two guards at the front. Smile had called for him to come to the agency and it was because of this, that he had taken his lunch break outside of the school.

Arthit stepped into the elevator as soon as he walked into the building. He then used his key so that he could go up to the top floor. Smile had sent him this key a week after he'd been approved to what she called the VIP Client list. Arthit wondered what he was called in for and part of him was nervous that he might be in trouble.

The feeling of coming here was similar to that of the first time. He was nervous, he did not know what to expect or if this was a good idea. Patiently Arthit waited to go up to the top floor and when the doors finally opened for him at the top, Arthit's phone vibrated just as he took his first step. Confused he takes his phone out of his pocket only to see a text message from Kongpob.

You weren't at work today.

-Mr. Handsome-

Reading the text message that Kongpob had sent to him Arthit bit the inside of his cheek. He had not seen Kongpob once again for a full week. But as usual, Kongpob would send him flowers and chocolates. The more Arthit received the worse he felt. Mainly because deep down he knew what his feelings were for the handsome man and he also knew that to Kongpob he was a client if not a new friend.

Despite the few meetings that they'd had so far Arthit had realized that to him, each meeting had been special. In his heart, he knew what he was starting to feel. Something had bloomed inside him once more and this time, it was a feeling that had come back stronger than he had ever felt before.

He was afraid. Kongpob's words about other clients and the way in which he'd scoffed at them falling for him made Arthit's heart tighten in his chest. In Kongpob's eyes, should he ever know what he was truly feeling, Arthit knew that Kongpob would quickly end things with him.

Kongpob was willing to offer him friendship and that was as far as Arthit knew they would go. Kongpob had been hurt by someone so deeply and it had become apparent to Arthit based on Kongpob's sadness that he was not fully over the man that had broken his heart.

Arthit thought of his own relationship with Namtarn and how much he had cared for her. However, he had known a long time ago that their love had dwindled away with time and the hurt came from the betrayal.

As Arthit walked towards Smile's door he clenched his fist tightly while mustering up his courage. A thought came to him, and with it, a bigger fear crept inside his heart. Had Kongpob realized that he was starting to fall in love with him? Maybe this was why Smile had called him in. Kongpob was going to send someone to tell him that he could no longer work for him because he knew that Arthit had started to like him.

That thought left his head quickly when his phone vibrated once more.

I came to see you for another lunch date and the Blonde girl told me that you left to go on a date. I suppose I should have called before coming.... Have you met someone?

-Mr. Handsome-

No sooner had he received that message another one came in.

I hope you have fun on your date let me know if everything is okay.

-Mr. Handsome-

Arthit bit the inside of his cheek and he swallowed a lump that he felt inside his throat. This further proved that Kongpob had no feelings for him other than friendship.

Knocking on the door in front of him Arthit heard a "come in," and made his way inside the office. Smile was sitting behind her desk and when she looked up she grinned at him. Hesitantly Arthit returned a smile back to her.

"Please have a seat Arthit we have a few things to discuss." Nervously Arthit bit his bottom lip and made his way towards Smile. He sat in front of her desk where she already had her phone out ready to record and she had a clipboard out.

"Is there something wrong?" Arthit questioned. He felt his phone vibrate once more and this time when he pulled it out of his pocket he did not bother to read the message instead he turned his phone off not wanting to interrupt whatever it was that Smile needed to tell him.

"That depends."

"On what? Did I do something wrong?" Arthit questioned tensing. Smile laughed lightly and shook her head.

"No. But it all depends on how the month has been going. It has been a month since Kongpob has been working for you." Arthit bit the inside of his cheek as he heard those words but said nothing as Smile continued.

"I just wanted to ask how things are going? How is Kongpob working out for you. Is he doing his job right?" Smile questioned.

For a moment, Arthit was quite unsure of what to answer. He was too lost in his thoughts to realize that Smile was observing him quite closely.

"Arthit..."

"He is... He's really charming." Arthit admitted with a blush to his cheeks. He remembered his first meeting with Kongpob and every other time they had met. Kongpob knew how to stir someone up.

"I'm sure he is. But... how is he treating you?"

"Great. He's actually really nice and... I honestly wasn't expecting to meet someone like him."

"What was your first impression of him."

"Arrogant... a bit cheeky... but.. very handsome." Smile chuckled and Arthit blushed.

"But honestly. He's not what I expected."

"What did you expect?"

"I don't know. Someone that was... not like him. I can't really explain it well. Kongpob can be very considerate. I've come to learn that there's a lot of faces and parts that we all hide. Even the people that look the most confident can... be so human." Arthit could see that Smile didn't quite understand what he was talking about but it was alright. Arthit didn't want to explain especially when it had to do with something so private with Kongpob.

"Do you think that you're getting your money's worth? Is Kongpob doing everything we promised and..."

"It's not about the money..." Arthit told Smile. He wasn't sure what to say to her at that moment or if he should be honest at all, yet he found himself unable to hide this feeling that he'd just discovered. He didn't know who to tell or if he was telling the right person.

For the first time in his life, he truly felt like he couldn't tell anyone about the way he was feeling. Including Byul.

"Kongpob and I promised to be friends after this." There was surprise written on Smile's face as she spoke.

"Is that what he told you? That he wanted to be your friend after this?" Arthit nodded.

"And how do you feel about that?"

"I'm glad. Aside from all this, I think that the two of us have been able to get along great."

"And when the money is gone? Has Kongpob told you about anything pertaining to his life?"

"I don't ask."

"Then how do you know you want him in your life after these three months?" Smile questioned. Arthit felt a pang in his heart and he was unable to answer Smile who sighed.

"Arthit... I'm not trying to spoil things. The fact that you made a new friend and I can see some change in your eyes... you look happy. That's good. But... What about Kongpob? Is this something he said first?" Arthit bit the inside of his cheek as he realized he had been the one to suggest being friends first.

"Look. I don't know Kongpob very well. If I'm honest he wasn't my choice for you but everyone else thought he would be good for you. But Arthit... you have to make sure that Kongpob wants the same things you do. I don't want you to get hurt... especially when I can see that in your eyes you want to be more." Arthit looked away unsure of what to say.

"Kongpob is cold. He doesn't treat his clients well after the contracts are over. Especially if he knows they've started falling for him." Arthit is unable to hide the fact that he has fallen for the other man.

"Arthit... I can get you someone else you know I."

"No!... Kongpob and I are fine." Arthit offered a wry smile, he was afraid that she would make Kongpob go away. The fear must have been clear in his eyes because Smile quickly spoke up.

"I'm not going to tell him Arthit... but... I'm not so sure that you should say something either."

"Why?"

"Ask Kongpob... there was a boy... his name was John. Have him tell you what happened. He doesn't accept clients for more than a week. You're the only one that's lasted for a month. But Arthit... make sure that what he can give you is what you want. Otherwise... cut ties with him for your own good." Smile took his hand from where she was sitting and squeezed it.

"I like you Arthit. You remind me of me. I was naive and... didn't feel good enough for a lot of things. You have to learn to fend for yourself and fight for what you want. But if you are willing to fight for this... won't you be losing more."

"I just want to his friend. I understand Kongpob."

"But are you really understanding yourself. That's what all this is about. This agency is about you Arthit; about helping you... can you really just have enough with his friendship? What if Kongpob decides that at the end of this he doesn't want to be your friend?" Arthit is quiet as he looks at Smile. But deep down inside he already knows his answer because he's had about a week to truly ponder these things. He stands up from where he is sitting not wanting to talk to Smile anymore.

"Then I'll live with it."

"Arthit..."

"I won't come back here unless I want to end things or if Kongpob wants to end them with me... Thank you for your help really. But I'll be fine." With those words, Arthit walks away from Smile's office.

When the door closes Smile sighs. She runs her hands nervously through her hair. Seconds later once the floor is clear footsteps are heard and Badtz walks in.

"How did it go?" Badtz questioned going to Smile who sighs and shakes her head. Badtz hugs her tightly from behind as she sits behind her desk he pecks her cheek.

"Is this really necessary? Maybe I was too harsh on him...."

"You did what you had to do. This is for his own good. We want things to move along Smile. They have two months left and if we really want things to work out for them both and have their happiness then... we need to push."

"Maybe I pushed him too hard."

"No... Kongpob needs to be honest about his past. That includes John, even if it wasn't his fault it is important that Arthit knows."

"But Arthit..."

"He's strong. You said so yourself he reminds you of yourself. As someone who fell in love with someone naive and innocent like you I can tell you that someone as sweet like you and even Arthit are capable of waking up love and every other instinct in others because you're so pure."

"I love you." Smile whispers to Badtz before giving him a soft peck on the cheek. Badtz offers her a smile and hugs her tightly.

"They'll be fine. Trust Arthit."

"I trust him but.. Kongpob isn't like you. He's a bit of a loose cannon like Kyro. Kyro didn't fall for me."

"And I'm thankful for that otherwise you wouldn't be mine," Badtz told Smile who laughed.

"So it's possible for someone not to fall for the type of person Arthit and I are."

"Liz is different she was what Kyro needed but... Kongpob isn't completely like Kyro... and maybe Arthit has a bit more fire in him than you do.... I might have fallen for him myself if I hadn't met you. Kyro says the same thing to Liz." Badtz joked, which earned him a smack from Smile. Badtz laughed and Smile groaned and pouted.

"Am I being paranoid?"

"Overprotective maybe... but... I promise you this was the right move."

"Kyro better do a good job with Kongpob otherwise this could go bad and I don't want Arthit to get hurt..." Smile spoke up...

Arthit had by now arrived at school. He parked in front and sighed. He tried his best to get Smile's words out of his head. He didn't and couldn't really face the truth....But deep down he knew that Smile was right. Clenching on to the wheel of his car he hit his head on the steering wheel ignoring the honking noise that came out.

"What am I going to do?" He thought to himself. Sighing his stomach grumbled. He'd skipped lunch and as he looked at his watch he realized he'd taken a lot longer to run his "errand". Then again, he had asked for an hour and a half and he still had fifteen minutes left.
