《Boy For Rent》ArthitxKongpob: Let's play Pretend

"Do you think that this will work Arthit?" Byul questioned him as they made their way into the teacher's break room. They were about to take their lunch that Friday afternoon and Byul was looking unusually stressed.
"It will be fine." He assured her. Arthit knew that Byul always acted so erratically when it came to her parents mainly because they only cared about their image. They didn't care about Byul at all, otherwise, they would visit her more than every couple of years.
"I'm not giving up my freedom Arthit. I was happier when I was sure P'Two would be my fiance." She muttered under her breath while they walked towards a table where there were a few other teachers.
"Hey." Byul and Arthit spoke with a smile as they sat down at the table.
"Hello." Dante, Tootah, Lemon, Fang, Ple , and May spoke with a smile. They were the teachers that they were closest to and they were friends outside of work as well.
"What did you guys bring today?" Dante questioned.
"Whatever Byul brought to eat." Arthit responded.
"Was it my turn today?... I forgot" Byul spoke up biting her bottom lip.
"I'm so sorry Arthit. I've just been so stressed with my parents coming to visit."
"It's alright Byul. I'll just get us something from the vending machine."
"I can go Arthit. It's on me too." Byul spoke.
"It's fine really. You're paying for karaoke when we go out next time." Arthit spoke with a grin as he tried to lighten the mood.
"Deal." Byul spoke with a smile.
"But I did mean it, I can go. That harpy is sitting by the vending machine." Byul whispered. Arthit turned to look back to the far right of the room. The break room wasn't that big. There were a few tables in the room and currently only the first year and elementary teachers were having lunch. Namtarn was friends with a few teachers in this faculty and he knew that Khao Fang was the closest to her. The two were sitting together and chatting quietly. Arthit was only glad that Namtarn had not brought Jay with her this time. She had made it a point to have him visit her every single day where they proceeded to make out in front of everyone. That had stopped since the previous week after she had met Kongpob.
"It's fine I can go. I'll get your favorite chips and cookies for you."
"Iced tea please." Byul added and Arthit nodded. He stood up heading towards the vending machine that was right beside Namatarn. As soon as he approached the table both Namtarn and Khao Fang looked at him.
"Good Afternoon." He spoke politely to both women before turning to the vending machines in order to get what he needed. He tried his best to simply ignore Namtarn.
The last couple of weeks she had made it quite obvious that she was no longer dating him and had done so by bringing in her new boyfriend. He'd been given plenty of pitiful looks by teachers and even some students. Arthit hated that feeling. However, things had gotten better since Kongpob had come to pick him up that past Friday. Lemon happened to see him with Kongpob and she had been the one to let others know that Arthit was now seeing someone.
Unfortunately that all turned into gossip because after that Kongpob had not shown up to pick him up or drop him off since then. However, every day since then like clockwork there would be someone dropping off flowers for him during lunch. Yellow Chrysanthemums and a box of some sort of chocolates that he would end up eating and finishing by the time lunch was over as he loved sweets too much.
He had been extremely happy with yesterday's chocolates. It had been a box of Ferrero Rocher Chocolates. He had shared with his friends as it had been a gigantic box that contained 56 chocolates. He had given them each seven chocolates otherwise he knew he would eat them all and end up with a stomach ache.
He had been happily eating chocolates when he'd "overheard" Khao Fang comment on how pathetic it was for someone to continuously send flowers and gifts to themselves. Arthit had let it go because it was not true but that rumor had spread quite easily and by the end of the day he heard a few teachers gossiping about him again.
He was annoyed by it but as he thought of the chocolates that would be sent today he bit his lip. He hoped today's chocolates would be something better than the next.
"Kongpob will fatten me up if he keeps sending me all this chocolate," Arthit muttered to himself as he took out the snacks out of the vending machine for Byul and a drink for her.
"What should I get for myself?" He muttered quietly.
"Pink milk." Someone spoke up behind him. Arthit nodded not recognizing the voice as he was still pondering what to eat.
"Yes but that's not food. Maybe a brownie and some trail mix... it has white chocolate in it." The person behind him chuckled and Arthit finally noticed that another other person was standing behind him.
"Kongpob!" Kongpob offered him a charming smile as he moved closer to him as Arthit turned around to look at him. Kongpob's hand rested against the vending machine and he moved closer to Arthit.
"Your sweet tooth is really amazing you know that?" Their close proximity made Arthit's heart race and he felt a little light-headed and intoxicated with Kongpob's sweet cologne smell. He almost groaned and buried his face on the other man's neck then and there. He smelled so good.
"These are for you." Yellow flowers were placed in front of him and Arthit reached for them only to drop the snacks that he's been holding.
Kongpob quickly picked them up and Arthit noted that Kongpob had a large bag with him.
"Kong... why are you here?" Something flickers in Kongpob's eyes and Arthit realized he's called this man that was practically a stranger in such a casual manner. He was about to apologize but Kongpob smiled at him and spoke up before he could.
"I wanted to see you. I've been so busy this week we haven't had much time for each other. But I've made sure to finish all my work already so that we can spend all weekend together."
"He still has class after this you know." Byul spoke up coming forward and offering Kongpob a smile which Kongpob returned to her. It was the first time that Arthit had seen the other man act friendly towards someone else. He was a natural actor.
"I know. But I wanted to spend his lunch together. I brought him something hoping he hadn't eaten yet. Drinks are on you?" Kongpob questioned Arthit who found himself nodding dumbly.
"I'll set up the table then," Kongpob spoke before walking away from him. Byul grinned at Arthit cheekily and took away her snacks from Kongpob before he left. She then got herself some iced tea from the vending machine.
"Good luck," Byul spoke with a wink before walking away. Arthit tried to collect himself. His heart was still hammering as he tightly clutched the bouquet of yellow flowers that were in his hands. He couldn't help but smile while looking at Kongpob who was setting up a table in the far corner away from everyone whose eyes were now on him. Arthit bit the inside of his cheek. He could see his friend's curious gazes and he could also feel Namtarn glaring at him just a few inches away.

He did his best to ignore her and simply went to get the drinks that he needed from the vending machine. He chose his pink milk and of course, some ice tea for Kongpob. He quickly headed towards their table and Kongpob offered him a smile.
"Have a seat." The handsome man said to him motioning for Arthit to sit beside him. Reluctantly Arthit did as he was told.
"You didn't tell me you were coming," Arthit spoke to Kongpob who handed him some food. Arthit hummed in thanks when he realized it was Yum Pla Dook Foo (Catfish and Mango salad)
"Of course I didn't I wanted to surprise you... So are you surprised?" Kongpob questioned. Arthit offered a smile and nodded.
"Yes... I'm very surprised... By the way. Thank you for the flowers and the chocolates." Kongpob smiled back.
"How am I doing so far?" Kongpob spoke with a wink. Arthit's smile crumbled as he was slapped by his reality once again.
Right... I'm paying him to do this...
"Great..." Arthit responded trying to even his voice. Kongpob frowned as he looked at him.
"Something wrong?..." Kongpob looked around and then raised an eyebrow.
"That guy over there. The blonde one. He likes you."
"P'Dante?" Arthit questioned and Kongpob nodded.
"Oh... I know." Arthit responded awkwardly.
"Oh..." There was a look of surprise on Kongpob's face and then he smiled brightly at him.
"I'm sorry Arthit. I might have overstepped right. This is your chance to be in a real relationship."
"What? No!... I'm not interested in him." Arthit spoke the two were whispering and Kongpob was so close again to him neither noticed how intimate they both looked at the moment.
"Really?... He seems... decent." Arthit laughed and shook his head.
"He is. He's just not my type."
"What is your type?" Kongpob questioned as he looked back at him. Arthit's breath hitched at their close proximity. There was a look in Kongpob's eyes that made him shiver. He could tell that the handsome man was just being his cheeky self but Arthit's heart was racing so wildly.
"This isn't real. This isn't real." He began to chant in his head. His eyes traveled down to Kongpob's lips that looked so soft and alluring. He wanted to kiss him. He shook his head from those thoughts and continued to speak.
"I don't have a type."
"That's a lie. Everyone has a type." Kongpob spoke with a chuckle.
"Whatever... that's not true." Arthit grumbled. He then grabbed a fork and spoon to begin to eat. The smell of the fish was really making Arthit's mouth water. However, the bag that Kongpob brought it in caught his attention. It was the name of a very expensive restaurant that took months to get a reservation. He knew because Byul had booked that restaurant for P'Two's birthday last year and she'd done so at least six months is advanced.
"Kongpob... how much did this cost you?" Arthit spoke in a panic. Kongpob looked at him and chuckled.
"Are you worried about how much I'm spending? Don't be okay."
"Kongpob... it's like 1,000 dollars a plate. Are you crazy?" He scolded. Kongpob, however, began to laugh as though he had said the most hilarious thing in the world.
"Kongpob!" Arthit snapped hitting the man in the arm which only made Kongpob continued to laugh harder.
"I'm paying you back for this I swear. Why didn't you just buy some cheap food at a stall or something." Kongpob stopped laughing and looked at him with a frown.
"It's not a big deal. It's just food. I have money and I did it for myself not for you." Arthit looked back at him in confusion and Kongpob shrugged.
"My stomach can't take poor quality things. So it wasn't a hassle."
"Then next time get something like this only for yourself. I'm fine with sticky rice and pink milk." He was met with another frown but Kongpob simply shook his head and began to eat. Arthit bit the inside of his cheek and wondered if he'd said the wrong thing again.
"Thank you for the food though... I really like it." He found himself saying. He realized he probably sounded really ungrateful. Kongpob looked at him again and sighed.
"You're really frustrating." He heard Kongpob mutter under his breath. Arthit bit his bottom lip.
"Don't be upset. I'm sorry for being ungrateful..." When Kongpob didn't respond Arthit smiled at him and cut a piece of fish for Kongpob and then offered it to him with his fork. Kongpob looked at him in surprise and something else flickered in his eyes that was too fast for Arthit to catch.
"Forgive me?" Kongpob smiled at him and shook his head. Arthit smiled back at him unable to stop the chuckle that escaped his lips. Kongpob grinned at him and opened his mouth to let Arthit feed him. Neither spoke after that but there seemed to be a very relaxed atmosphere around them which Arthit enjoyed.
Initially, he had thought that spending time with Kongpob would be awkward. Their first two encounters certainly felt that way to him. Arthit didn't know why, but now there seemed to be a very natural feeling between them. He supposed Kongpob was good at making people feel at ease.
"You're such a messy eater."
"What?" Arthit questioned turning to look at him. Kongpob smiled at him and winked, discreetly he motioned to behind them where all his friends were grinning at him which caused him to blush. He looked at Kongpob who wiped his mouth again by swiping his thumb across his lips.
Arthit realized he had breadcrumbs at the corner of his lips and brought his hand up to wipe away anything that was left. He could feel his cheek warm once more but when his eyes met the angry glare of his ex-girlfriend he quickly averted his eyes back to Kongpob who laughed.
"Kongpob...I don't want to cause trouble at my workplace." Kongpob simply smirked.
"I'm not trouble."
"Oh no," Arthit responded sarcastically. Kongpob moved his face forward and whispered in Arthit's ear.
"I can be a lot more trouble if you want me to be." Arthit could feel his entire face down to his neck flush red and a shiver ran down his body. Kongpob smirked at him once more.
"You can change the rules any time you want, you know that," Kongpob spoke cockily. There was a sudden image that popped into his head of Kongpob kissing him senseless as they stumbled into the bedroom of his apartment.
"That's never going to happen." He told Kongpob in defiance. The handsome man looked at him in surprise even so he smiled.
"We'll see. " Kongpob spoke before he reached into the bag where he had brought their lunch and then proceeded to pull out a pink round box.
Arthit's eyes lit up when he saw the box of chocolates and his mouth began to water as Kongpob handed him the box of chocolates. Already he's forgotten Kongpob's previous words and his focus was entirely on the sweets. He opened the box and gasped they were giant pink truffles.
Arthit smiled and was about to reach for one wanting to taste it immediately but before he could Kongpob snatched the box away. A pout made its way on to Arthit's lips and Kongpob smiled at him.
"These chocolates have alcohol in them. You can't have these right now your working. I guess my theory was right."
"What theory?" Arthit questioned frowning as Kongpob closed the box back up. Arthit wanted to cry, he really wanted to taste the sweet chocolate. Kongpob grinned.
"You finish the chocolates I send you as soon as you see them." Arthit blushed unable to deny the truth which caused Kongpob to burst into laughter once more.
"I'm right aren't I?" Arthit didn't reply and Kongpob continued.
"You have such a sweet tooth. What other sweets do you like."
"Anything that has chocolate and definitely strawberries, he loves wine and soju too." Both Kongpob and Arthit turned around and found Byul grinning at both of them.
"Lunch is over. We need to get back to our students. You're welcome to sit in on his classes Kongpob." Arthit glared at his friend who smiled at him and walked away. Arthit turned to look at Kongpob who began to gather their trash after standing up. Arthit followed Kongpob and stood up gathering everything around him.
"Are you staying?" Arthit questioned Kongpob who shook his head.
"I have a meeting that I need to get to but I will be coming to pick you up in a couple of hours." Arthit looked at Kongpob in surprise.
"What for?" Arthit questions grabbing the box of chocolates. He might not be able to eat them now but he'll eat them as soon as his workday was over.
"Our date. We're going to have some fun together Arthit just like I promised you we would." Kongpob moved closer to him and whispered.
"Spontaneity."
"Erm... where are you going to take me?" Arthit questioned Kongpob who grinned.
"Just somewhere fun. We're going to your apartment first so I can pick out your outfit."
"Kongpob...I don't like surprises."
"I know. But that's half of the fun. I promise you'll have a good time." Kongpob told him with a smile.
"I'll go with you to the school entrance," Arthit told him walking with Kongpob towards the door of the breakroom.
"It's fine. I can find my way back you know. I did get here on my own." Kongpob told him with a smile he ruffled his hair and Arthit pushed his hand away.
"Don't mess up my hair I still have to teach my kids." Kongpob laughs again and nods. He then pats Arthit's hair trying to fix it. The gesture makes Arthit blush and he once again pushes Kongpob's hand away and tries his best to fix his hair on his own.
"I'll see you later then."
"I brought my car today," Arthit tells Kongpob.
"Then you can drive us I'll take a cab." Arthit freezes for a moment when Kongpob wraps an arm around his waist, his breath hitches when the taller man presses a kiss to his forehead. When he pulls away Kongpob is smiling at him.
"I'll take this with me and give it back at the end of the day. Knowing you, it will be hard to resist these sweets." Kongpob tells him taking the box of chocolates away from Arthit who pouts.
"I won't.'"
"You will." Kongpob counters. He then pulls out a KitKat chocolate from his suit pocket and hits Arthit lightly on the forehead with it before Arthit catches his hand and takes the chocolate.
"Something to hold back your sweet tooth until later." Kongopb winks at him and then walks out of the breakroom. As soon as he leaves Arthit finds himself surrounded by his friends.
"Oh My God! Where did you meet him?"Lemon speaks up.
"Yes and is there more of him where you found him." Tootah says to him causing him to blush.
"Did you see how angry that harpy was?" Fang whispered while Ple nodded at him.
"Let's not stand at the door everyone people have to get out of here." Dante spoke up there was a wry smile on his face that caused Arthit to bite the inside of his cheek.
"I think you guys look good together P'Arthit." Arthit offered May a smile, she was always the nicest about everything.
"Come on let's get out of here." Byul spoke to Arthit she was holding his flower bouquet and he realized that he'd forgotten it at the table.
"Thanks." He said to her after she handed it back to him with a wink. They began to exit the break room and Arthit headed to his class as did everyone else. Byul walked ahead talking to Lemon and Tootah who were busy talking about how handsome Kongpob was.
"So... You do have a boyfriend now," Dante spoke to him coming to stand beside him as they walked down the hall together.
"I guess so."
"He seems nice." Arthit smiled because despite Kongpob's unpredictability he was very nice.
"He is. Wait... does that mean you thought I was sending flowers and chocolates to myself?" Arthit questioned.
