《A Fiery Love: A Charlie Weasley Love Story》Chapter 27: Once Upon A December

Charlie’s POV

I watched as Izzy hugged her father and Claire goodbye. This trip really didn’t go as I expected it to; which is a good thing. I was worried they would reject her or try and hurt her. They were loving and open to her, and her reaction to them was good too. She was understanding and willing to let them into her life. She finally had the family she always wanted, and in a few weeks she would meet her brother and sister.

I took her hand and we apparated back home. A big smile was plastered on her face and I knew it wasn’t going away anytime soon.

“Well, that went good didn’t it?” I asked walking into the kitchen.

“Good?” She raised an eyebrow. “That went great! I can’t believe how great it went!” She hopped up on the counter and swayed her legs back and forth. “I can’t wait for the school year to end so I can meet my half siblings.”

“You know you can always have one of mine if you get bored.” I joked.

She smacked my arm and laughed a little. She began braiding her hair and humming to herself. She always hummed the same tune and I never knew what it was.

“Babe, what are you always humming?” I asked not looking at her.

“You wouldn’t know it. It’s from a muggle children’s movie.” She said finishing her braid.

“I still want to know!” I sounded a little whiny, but she couldn’t resist when I did.

“It’s from a movie called Anastasia.” Her cheeks pinked a little. “I used to watch it all the time! That and another movie called The Lion King.” I had no idea what she was talking about, but I just kept my mouth shut. “Anastasia was a Russian princess, in the movie she gets lost after the people overthrow and rebel against the Czar, her father, and looses her memory. In the end she finds her family and lives happily ever after. But of course that’s not what actually happened!”

“It’s a true story?” I asked surprised. I never took Muggle Studies so I knew nothing about their history.

“Yeah, they discovered her entire families remains in a forest, but hers weren’t there. People just assumed that she was still alive and walking around, but just a few years ago they found her. So all those theories about her being alive, and all the impersonators were a crock!” She laughed.

“You really know your history.” I said standing in front of her.

“I’ve always been interested in stuff like that, but I don’t talk about it much. I know it bores people.” She shrugged her shoulders and got off the counter.

“It’s because you’re a nerd!” I joked.

“But that’s why you love me!” She wrapped her arms around my neck and pecked my lips.

“Yeah.” I smiled down at her looking deep into her brown eyes.

Izzy removed her arms from my neck, and walked into the bedroom. She took off her shoes and flung herself onto the bed. She began to sing a little song to herself. I recognized the tune as the song she always hummed.

“Dancing bears, painted wings

Things I almost remember

And a song someone sings

Once upon a December”

She arched her back and stretched out her legs. She wasn’t the best singer, but I still enjoyed listening to her and her soft voice.

“Someone holds me safe and warm

Horses prance through a silver storm

Figures dancing gracefully

Across my memory

Far away, long ago

Glowing dim as an ember

Things my heart used to know

Things it yearns to remember

And a song someone sings

Once upon a December”

After she finished she laid on the bed staring up at the ceiling. I walked over and laid next to her. We didn’t say a word; we just laid there. Her hand took a hold of mine and I stroked hers with my thumb.

“Can we visit your mom soon?” She asked suddenly.

“Yeah, sure. I’m sure she would love seeing you.” I stayed staring at the ceiling. “She considers you family now.”

“She has always made me feel like part of your family.” She took a deep breath. “I’m so blessed to have you and your family.” She squeezed my hand softly.

“You should become an official member.” I said this without thinking. We had never seriously talk about getting married, or even long-term plans. We just kind of went with the flow. I knew deep down she was the one, and I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her and have children with her. I loved her more than anything, and I knew she loved me too.

She sifted a little closer to me and rested her head on my chest. She pinched a part of my shirt and began to play with it. I wish I could hear what she was thinking, like that made up sparkly vampire she was talking about once. (Izzy and her Muggle fiction books.)

“I would like that.” She finally said.

I kissed the top of her head as my chest blazed. I had always been the ‘manly-man’ but I truly felt like I could cry. This girl really had me wrapped around her finger, and I couldn’t see myself without her ever. Knowing she wanted to be with me as much as I wanted to be with her made me soar.

I was going to propose the correct way soon enough, but first I wanted to tell my parents, and maybe, if things were going well with them, ask her mother and fathers permission.
