《Soulmate Bonded: Jungkook xReader (feat. Namjoon)》(Chapter 31) I didn't have anything

Hey soulmates!!!

Please see , also under my stories.

He was still looking at her like that.

He keeps looking at her like that.

His head lowered,

Staring up at her through his lashes,

Jaw tightened...

His eyes are dark, his brows pulled together.

But he's not saying anything

and she's too scared under his stare to say anything either.

It's been like this for two days.

Another thing he's been doing constantly, is holding onto her in some way, nonstop.

She appreciated the Healing.

She felt warm all the time.

But... even when she was scrolling through work emails

and he rolled his eyes in exasperation

and yanked her phone out of her hand and told her you're supposed to rest...

he had still been holding her hand.

His long, calloused fingers intertwined through hers.

She'd tried to tell him that she needed to explain her absence of work to her clients...

but he'd pulled his mouth into a firm line and thrown her phone across the room onto the sofa.

It was weird to be arguing while holding hands.

She was pale.

So goddamn pale,

as the goddamn woman

lifted her goddamn phone with her shaking hands

and tried to read her emails.

Twelve hours passed out on the hospital bed, the blood cleaned off,

Jungkook fought to draw every breath as he waited.

And then the scans

to reveal that she had terrible bleeding inside her head, too...

And the moment she's awake and coherent,

the moment Taehyung leaves,

she's asked for her phone.

And Jungkook thinks she may need to call her family, or her best friend,

to let them know where she was...

So he hands it to her.

But she's frowning and pulling up her work email,

And Jungkook just loses it.

Taehyung had come to visit her, and Jungkook still never let go of her hand.

And when Taehyung, and a manager, and the nurse and doctor were all gone...

And after Jungkook had whiplashed her phone into oblivion,

Jungkook had wordlessly turned out the lights.

He laid down on top of the covers on the bed,

on his side, curling himself around her.

He didn't ask for permission, he didn't explain himself...

But she knew it was for the Healing.

Because she needed it.

Tucked against his chest in the semi-dark,

her heart beating much too fast to sleep,

she'd listened to his quiet breathing for a long time

and knew that they were both awake.

When she grew uncomfortable lying on her back, she wondered if she should turn onto her side

away from him,

or into him.

Sleeping with her back to him seemed less intimate.

Or maybe spooning was more intimate.

But face to face...

She doubted she'd get any sleep at all.

So she gently, slowly, as low-key as possible,

as though he wouldn't notice if she did it slow enough, wide awake as he was...

shifted her weight and turned towards Jungkook.

He was lying a bit higher than her, so she didn't have to look him in the eye.

But still, somehow, it opened her up to him, just facing him.

And he felt it too,

because he took a tiny shuddering breath,

and in a low voice, vibrating through his chest, asked her quietly,

"Does your head hurt?"

"A little," she whispers back.

His hand comes to rest on her head, his palm softly on her jaw and cheek,

his fingers grazing her temple.

"Does this help at all?"

She waits for a moment, the golden warmth tingling down her neck and up the crown of her head.

"Yeah, I think so."

His fingers caress the short strands of baby hair near her temple.

His lips part like he had something to say...

But he doesn't.

She looks up at him.

"What is it?" she asks.

His eyes are glowing in the dark.

The scant light from the hallway and bedside monitor are trapped as bright specks in his irises.

He finally looks relaxed, his brows gentle,

but he's running a soft gaze over her face.

A tiny smile tugs the corner of his mouth.

It grips her in the heart.

Then he registers her looking at him,

and drops his eyes to meet hers.

"I was going to wait... until you feel better," he rasps.

The bass of his voice is close, so close to her.

She shivers.

"But I... I think, that I...

that I...

I'm in-"

Jungkook's cuts off.

His eyes widen.

.

And then she sees it too.

Golden light flares up, all around her vision,

and Jungkook is...

In the center of it all.

She's never been so tempted to sweep aside the strands of his dark bangs falling into his eyes.

To run her fingers along his sharp jawline, down his neck, across his wide shoulders.

And she sees her own reflection in his eyes,

And .

"You..." he breathes out, the word is more an exhale of air than anything.

She's can't.

She can't speak.

"Are you... do you see this?" Jungkook forces a husky voice past his throat.

She can't answer him.

She tries, but she's hot all over.

She just nods.

Her soulmate bruising hand begins to burn.

She struggles to lift it, pulling it out from under the sheets, bringing it to her face, staring at it in disbelief.

Jungkook winces and does the same.

It's too hot.

In a desperate attempt to stop it all,

he presses his bonding hand against hers,

both of them trying to figure out what is happening.

It's

she's whimpering,

and she hears herself whimpering,

and it sounds pathetic but...

It's burning.

Jungkook thinks it's him.

He starts to pull away, his body shifting off the bed,

but their matching hands wouldn't separate.

Their palms stay pressed together.

She can see that he's grimacing, folding over in pain,

and she tries to pull on her hand too, frantically.

and Jungkook finally gets it.

He doesn't know what's happening, but clearly he didn't have a choice.

He pulls on her hand, pulling her into him as he presses himself back down against her.

"I'm sorry," he gasps.

He it's him, what he'd been about to say.

The gold heat sears them, and they grip each other, crying out from the burning,

A tear rolls down her face.

What's happening?

And just as she thinks she will pass out,

just when Jungkook thinks he will pass out...

It splinters.

The light cracks around the edges and drops away,

leaving them both panting in agony.

Jungkook hears her sob and his heart

The pain is just a memory now, but it still grips his limbs, still terrible in his mind.

He forces his arms to relax,

forces his breathing to slow down,

trying to look if she was okay.

He looks into her face.

And she's blinking in surprise, despite the tears still falling from her eyes.

Because all of the bruises and gashes along her elbow and upper arms have vanished.

She blinks at him, her eyes wide.

Jungkook presses his fingertips against where she was hurt, the side of her head.

She waits, and shakes her head.

She pushes him away.

She sits up,

and rips off the bandages over her skull,

running her own fingers along where the wound should be,

should have been,

where it

She drops her hands, her face a mask of shock.

"Jungkook," she finally whispers, her voice hoarse,

broken.

Jungkook sags with relief.

She's okay now, because...

whatever it was...

Made her...

okay now.

And he wants to cry,

because for the last two days, hearing the doctor

talk about the complications of her head injury

Jungkook couldn't

He couldn't.

And he's just thinking that this was worth it,

....

Whatever this was,

that burning,

that they had to go through for it to happen.

This was Healing.

It came at the price of terrible pain to both of them.

And she's staring at him,

her eyes bright,

her lips parted...

And relief is coursing through his veins,

the aftershock of pain still shaking through her...

She's trembling and staring at him...

And he just can't help himself.

Jungkook reaches across,

runs his thumb over her cheekbone,

running his eyes over her face...

His body is entering her space,

his face is too close to hers

for anything other than what he is about to do.

He still says it,

just because she is her

and he could never, ever want to mess this up.

"If you don't want this, tell me now."

But he barely recognizes his own voice,

low and broken as it was.

And he gives her a moment,

to say something,

to do anything,

to ask him to stop,

but she doesn't,

and Jungkook can't hold back,

he doesn't want to hold back.

He has to be the one,

To cross this barrier.

He swore to be the one,

To cross this barrier.

So Jeon Jungkook

dips his neck

lifts her chin

and presses his mouth to hers.
