《Unexpected》[4] - stalker

It was a quiet day at the flower shop. Willow was watering the flowers, making sure everything was okay. Every now and then, they would get a few customers.

Usually there were busy days, but they also had chill days where they would only get less than a few dozen customers.

Willow was now on cashier duty. She had thirty or so more minutes before her shift ends.

The door bell chimed, indicating that someone had just walked into the shop.

The customer looked to be in their early to mid 40's. They were about 6'0, give or take. The man looked oddly weird. As if she had seen him before? Maybe she saw a relative of his? She wasn't sure.

"Hello, welcome to Enchanted Florist. How may I assist you today?"

The man gave Willow an oddly bad feeling in her gut. It was like she could sense he was a dangerous person, or up to no good.

The unknown man didn't say anything. He ignored Willow, and continued to walk around the shop, glancing at her every once in a while. This didn't go unnoticed by Willow. She felt very uncomfortable, but tried her best not to show it. To distract herself, she would pretend to be on her phone.

After what felt like eternity, but was only fifteen minutes, the man left without a word.

Willow released a breath she didn't even know she was holding. The unknown man creeped her out. Sure Everett and his table would always stare at her, but the way the stranger looked at Willow, was unsettling and uncomfortable.

Sooner or later, it was finally the end of her shift. Her job wasn't boring. In fact, she actually loved her job and looked forward to it on the weekends, but there were some days where she barely did anything due to the lack of customers. Slow days made Willow exhausted and bored. Time would go by so slow when there was nothing to do.

Willow usually walked home from work. The shop was close to home. She gets off of work at 7:30 p.m. and starts at around 12 p.m.

On her walk home, she felt someone watching her, or following her even. She was great when it came to self-defense but that didn't mean she wasn't scared. When she picked up her pace, she heard the person doing the same.

Willow was scared shitless. She didn't know what to do. She was smart enough to not look back and show them that she knew they were following her.

Spotting a little cafe nearby, she quickly walked into there. As soon as she got in, she texted Oliver telling him what happened. Willow felt her heart beating at an accelerating rate.

Her eyes drifted to the window, where she saw the same man at the shop, across the street. Looking right at her. Willow quickly averted her eyes to the table. She was breathing heavily, and was starting to sweat.

I'm on my way, stay where you are. Don't move.

While she waited for Oliver, she decided to order a cup of water. It was only five minutes later when Oliver showed up.

"Oh my god, Willow, are you okay? Did they hurt you?" Oliver hugged his sister as soon as he saw her. He was worried about her.

"I'm okay, I'm okay." Willow replied, but it sounded as if she was trying to convince herself the same thing.

"Okay... Let's go home." Oliver said hesitantly, he knew Willow was shaken up. He could even see her visibly shaking. Nonetheless, he decided to switch the topic. He knew she didn't want to talk about it, so he let it slide for now.

The drive home was silent and about five minutes. Willow was still pretty shaken up and scared. She didn't know what could've happened if she didn't walk into that cafe. She could've been hurt, or worse, kidnapped.

She knew that Oliver had enemies. He was one of the best fighters in town. However, none of them ever went far enough to where they wanted to harm Willow. Maybe the man was a dad to someone who lost a fight to Oliver, and they wanted revenge. Maybe that's why the man looked familiar.

"Willow? You know I have to ask. What did he look like? Did anything about him stand out to you?"

Willow gave a description of the man, and told Oliver about what occurred in the flower shop. She even told him about the uncomfortable stares he gave her.

Oliver had a hunch. He had an idea about who the man was. He didn't tell Willow as he didn't want to worry her. He knew she had enough on her plate. Hell, she could barely sleep at night. He didn't want her to have to worry about this too. He reassured her that she would be fine, and told her that from now on, she will be taking her car to work, or Oliver will pick her up. He knew he was being a bit much, but he was worried for his sister's safety. He knew she could defend herself, but that doesn't mean he couldn't be worried. The reason he taught her how to fight was because he knew he couldn't always be there for save Willow. They were both busy with their own schedules, so knowing that Willow knew how to defend herself, made it easier for Oliver to sleep at night and go on with his day.

Oliver decided to take the rest of the night off. He usually had fights at night-time, but he decided to call it off. He didn't want Willow staying home all by herself when she was at the state she was in.

The rest of the evening, Oliver made it his job to distract Willow, make her laugh, overall just have fun. He wanted to take her mind off of what happened earlier. He actually succeeded. By the end of the night, he managed to make Willow laugh so hard, she started crying.

Some time later, Willow fell asleep. All of what's been going on, must have tired Willow out. Oliver felt bad. He knew he was always busy, but he always tried to make up for it. However, he was glad she was finally sleeping.

"Hey Maxwell, you might want to slow down on the drinking." Romeo said.

Maxwell had been drinking ever since he ran into that mysterious brown eyed girl. For some reason, he couldn't stop thinking about her. She constantly distracted him, and he didn't even know her name. He knew drinking wasn't good for him, but he thought that maybe it would make him forget.

The brown eyed girl was the only person, apart from his best friend and family, to look at him as if he was merely a human being. As if they were equals.

Maxwell scoffed at the thought. He wasn't equal to her. He was Maxwell Moreno. People were scared of him, and he liked it that way. No one ever looked at him the way she looked at him. She must not know who he was, but he knew he was bullshitting himself. Everyone knew who he was.

"No. What are you doing?" Maxwell yelled, well, it was more of a whine, at his best friend when he tried to take the drink out of his hands.

"That stupid girl. She's always wandering in my mind..." Maxwell was starting to get drunk. "What girl Maxwell?" Romeo knew Maxwell never made time for anyone. He of all people knew about his ex and what she did.

"Don't be so dumb. You know who I'm talking about. You know, brown eyes, long brown hair..."

"Are you talking about that girl at the amusement park?"

"Yes! Her! See? I said you knew!" Maxwell started laughing. When he was drunk, it could go either one or two ways. He could either get really violent and rude, or he would act like a baby, laughing and giggling at everything.

Romeo decided to clean up and throw away the remaining alcohol on the table. It was almost done anyways. By the time he was done, he noticed Maxwell was knocked out, his body nearly falling off the chair he was sitting on.
