"explain." i instruct, gesturing at the chair for him to sit.
he sighs in relief and follows my instructions.
"i'll start from the beginning." he starts and i nod.
"i woke up to a message from vanessa, she said she wanted to meet up and talk, but never said what she wanted to talk about.
so we set up a time and we met at a cafe, i bought her coffee and we caught up but when i asked what she wanted to talk about she got really close to me and said she missed me. i was caught off guard and i didn't know what to do,
i told her i had a girlfriend and she was married, but even then she still tried to get back with me. i ended up leaving her at the cafe and nothing happened i swear.
the only reason i'd didnt tell you was because i was waiting until i found out the reason she wanted to talk, and well before i got to tell you, you found out yourself." he says and a breath of relief that i didn't know i was holding in exhales.
i sit there in shock and he eyes me carefully.
"i'm sorry for not letting you talk." i finally say and he smiles.
"i'm sorry for everything." he says.
"please come home." he continues and i frown.
"austin we can't, we can't date, at least not until we finish filming elvis." i say and his smile drops.
"what? why?"
"i don't want our relationship to be in the way of filming, i want to be with you, believe me i do, but we can't." i whisper and he nods sadly.

"you said not until we finish filming?"
"yeah, why?"
he stands up and reaches his hand out, and i look at his extended palm.
"let's shake on it, we can date when we finish filming." he says with a nod.
i smile but before i can stop myself my hand reaches out and connects with his, the rough skin on his fingers meeting with my smooth skin.
i shake our hands but he suddenly looks really sad, and i stand up.
we're face to face and my eyes connect with his, sadness swarming in me.
it shouldn't have ended like this.
"one more kiss, please." he says so quietly that i'm almost unsure i heard him correctly.
"austi-" i begin but he cuts me off.
"please." he begs.
i sigh, but i place my two palms on his face, and i lean in, connecting my lips with his.
they barely brush against each other but i can feel the raw emotion seeping within our bodies.
he deepens the kiss and i hold back a sob, my cheeks now wet from not just my tears, but his.
"austin." i whisper against his lips and he sniffles.
"i know just a little longer." he whispers back and my heart leaps out of my chest.
i press my lips into his one last time, before pulling away.
he's about to say something but i brush his lips with my thumb, "shh." i say and he nods.
"i don't know what to say." he finally states and a small smile finds its way onto my face.
"you don't need to say anything baby it's okay." i whisper and i watch almost in slow motion as his tears fall.
with my hands still resting on his face, i wipe the tears away and he leans into my touch.
"you have to go." i whisper and he nods, but never pulls away.
"austin please." i whimper and he finally takes the smallest step back, while nodding his head.
"i'll um- see you tomorrow i guess?" he asks and i cover up my sadness with a smile.
"of course."

GLADIUS // Eret X Reader
PHANTASM SERIES BOOK 4---Gladius, (noun): (in ancient Rome) a short sword.---Eret perked up as soon as you and Simon walked into the room, a wide and welcoming smile coming onto his face. He was softer looking than his father had been, but you could still see some of the similar traits. He had a head of thick dark curls, and the same sharp jaw that his father had had. He wasn't as bulky though - he was tall and thin - and his face was a lot more open. What separated him most from his father's likeness though was the colorful cape, and the large mirrored glasses he wore - swirling with colors reflected from the room. He stood from his seat when Maven let the doors swing shut behind her, that wide smile still on his face. "You must be the embassy.""And you must be King Eret." You said, stooping into a bow. "Oh, there's no need for that." Eret said as you rose from your bow. He stepped down from the dias where his throne sat - colorful cape trailing behind him - and came to stand in front of you, taking your hand instead. "I'm not really one for formalities." He grinned, shaking your hand. His palm was warm against yours, and you could feel some slight callouses - most likely from practicing his sword work.
