《Fated Love (BWWM)》A.U. 1990's - 1

Eve woke up to the annoying and incessant ringing of her alarm clock. She groaned and slapped the noisy box so she could get five more minutes of peace.

Just as she almost falls back into her deep slumber when she feels something poke her in the face. "Evie..." she heard her baby sister mumbled. Eve lets out a deep sigh and opens one eye to see her brother five year old brother Eddie holding recently turned two year old Eva in his arms.

Yes, she's Eve and she's Eva. Her mom got really lazy at the hospital.

Eve got up and wiped her eyes, looking down at the both of them. "What happened?" She asked, picking up Eva.

"Eva has to go potty," Eddie tells her.

"Why didn't you bother Eric? Or Evan?" Eve groaned as she quickly brought Eva over to the bathroom so she could do her business.

"Cause you're the big sister," was Eddie's response.

Eve rolled her eyes as she helped Eva wipe her self before washing both of their hands. "Lucky me," She grumbled.

She then woke everyone up to get started on their day. She barged into the room that Eric and Evan shared, turning on the lights. "Wake up, you're gonna miss school," she orders.

"Let me," Eric said from under the covers.

"Missing school is not an option," Eve yells. "Get up. Get dressed." She says a final time before shutting the door. "And help me make breakfast!"

She dressed Eddie and Eva up and while Eric made breakfast since he was the second oldest, being sixteen. He complained but obliged. Everyone had a brilliantly made bowl of Lucky Charms for breakfast.

"I gotta go!" Evan jumps up from his spot on the kitchen table. "Bye Evie!" He presses a kiss in her cheek. "Bye Eva!" He kisses his baby sister's cheek. "Bye Eric!" He waves to his older brother. "By Eddie!" He waves his little brother off.

"Bye baby!" Eve sends him off.

"See you little man," Eric ruffles his head as he rushes off. He was in middle school, meaning Eve didn't have to worry about him as much as the last two. Eve and Eric grabbed their bags and each took a younger sibling and made their way to Mrs. Johnson, an older woman in their neighborhood that was sort of like a surrogate grandmother to them at this point.

"Thank you Mrs. Johnson," Eve waved bye to her sister, "have a great day!"

"You have a good day at school now!" Mrs. Johnson waves off.

Eve then shifted her attention to her younger brother. "You want me to walk with you to school?" She asks Eric.

"Nah, my bros coming through soon. They gonna give me a ride to school," he tells her. And as if on cue, a loud, speeding car barrels down the street and stops abruptly next to them on the curb. Eve recognizes a couple of the neighborhood boys and sees a couple of them wearing gang colors on their necks, wrists and pockets.

"What's up E!" Eric's best friend Curtis greets, hanging out the window.

"Ayyy man, what's up?" He daps a couple of his friends off as he got in as Eve eyes the whole thing suspiciously. "Hey Eve baby!" Curtis waves, making her roll her eyes and making Eric elbow his friend. "Bye Evie!" Eric says as the driver steps on the gas and speeds off.

Eve sighed and makes her way to the bus stop, worrying a bit about Eric. She didn't like his friends but she also couldn't tell him who he could and couldn't be friends with. Finally the bus arrived and she got on, paying the fare before finding her seat.

She had to take take two busses and walk five minutes to get to her high school that was across town and a completely different area than that she lived in. The houses were bigger, the streets were cleaner, the cars were nicer and the grass was greener. Eve hurried and rushed to get to her first period class, almost accidentally slamming into a white girl holding a smoothie in her hand.

"Watch it, you freak!" She screeches.

"Sorry!" Eve calls back, continuing to rush down the hall to get to class. That's what she hated about public transportation. They were always so unreliable.

"Can you believe her?" The girl scoffs, looking up at her boyfriend who was looking behind him, in the direction that Eve ran off too. "Zach!" She calls out, getting his attention.

"Huh?" He looks down at Maddie. "What's the issue? She apologized and you didn't even spill anything. Calm down," he tells her in an annoyed tone.

Maddie shut her locker in anger. "You're so clueless! You know what? I'll see you after class," she walks off, leaving Zach in the hall.

Zach sighed and rolled his eyes. He had bigger things to worry about. He had a math test that would make or break his midterm grade and he had no idea how he would pass it.

He felt someone loop their arm around his neck and realized it was just his cousin Asher. "You psyched for this week's game?" He asked with a goofy smile.

Zach smiles at him, covering up his worries. "Hell yeah. We're gonna beat Eastlake. Send them home crying," he laughs.

"What do you have to say for yourself?"

Zach looks between the principal, his bitchy math teacher Mr. Hanover, Coach Michaelson, and his parents sitting next to him, all looking down at him with disappointed and expectant gazes. He looked down at the ground to avoid everyone's eyes, not saying a word.

"Cheating is grounds for suspension young man," the principal says.

"And misconduct is enough to kick you off the football team," Coach Michealson adds.

"Zachary!" His mom gasps.

Zach was still quiet. Honestly, he felt bad...that he got caught. Come on! Who gets caught cheating? Him, that's who!

"Is there any way around this?" His dad speaks up. "He needs a football scholarship-"

No he doesn't.

"to go to college! Isn't there anything we could figure out?" His dad pleaded.

Coach Michaelson, the principal and Mr. Hanover all look at each other in thought. "Excuse us please," as all three adults exited the office to talk, leaving Zach with his parents.

"What the hell were you thinking?!" His dad whisper-yelled at him. "Now you fucked everything up dumbass," his father grilled him.

"Don't talk to him like that," his mom hissed, swatting her arm at him.

"Well I️ wouldn't be talking to him like this is he didn't fuck up!"

The door behind them opened, and all three men five back into the room. "Okay Zach, here's what we're gonna do," the principal spoke. "Since you're generally a good student, despite a couple of infractions we decided that instead of punishing you, we're gonna help you."

"Until you can pass three of Mr. Hanover's tests with a C or higher," Coach Michaelson said, "you're benched from all games until further notice."

"What-" Zach started to protest but was spoken over.

"And to help you, we're gonna assign you a tutor," Mr. Hanover spoke. "I'm gonna pair you you up with my best student to help you."

Zach was speechless. Not only was he benched, he was actually being forced to study. What kind of bullshit was that?

"What's the second option?" Zach wondered.

"Suspension and getting kicked off the football team," the principal replied.

"He'll study," his dad speaks up for him. "The sooner he passes, the better."

They all left the office, happy and satisfied with the exception of Zach, who was still brooding and pouting when he left. He met up with Asher and Maddie after school and told them the bad news. "So now I'm on academic probation," he tells them.

"How could you be so stupid?" Maddie scoffed at him.

"Lay off him Maddie. He was just trying to save his grade. He would've been kicked off if his grade was too low," Asher rationalized.

Maddie rolled her eyes at him. "Now the entire school knows you're benched. Do you know how this looks on me?" She screeches. "Ugh! I️ gotta go," she tells him, standing up from their lunch table and walking off.

Both guys watch her walk away and then look at each other. "Y'all are made for each other, you know that?" Asher jokes, making Zach playfully shove him.
