"You're going to the movies with Carolina?" Her mom repeated what she just said, making her nod her head. "Well...okay. You should take Dion with you," she suggested, making Aaliyah groan.

"No- mom!" She whined. "We're gonna watch that new romance movie with Chris Hemsworth in it. I️ doubt Dion wants to sit through two hours worth of me and Carolina drooling over his abs," Aaliyah lies. "Plus, he's happier where he is now," she gestured over to her younger brother who was happily playing video games on the couch. "Watch," she demonstrated. "Hey Dion? You wanna go out with me and Carolina?" She asked.

"Carolina, yes. You? No thanks," he answers, making Aaliyah look back at her mom with an "I️ told you so" look while also being disgusted.

Her mom simply sighed as a sign that she was giving up. "Yeah- alright. Fine, Dion you can stay home alone, okay? Just don't burn the house down," she warned him before grabbing her bag. "Okay kiddies, I'm off to go show a newly wed couple some houses across town," she announced, walking out the door. "Don't burn down the house Dion!" She said as she walked out the door.

And then there were two.

A couple of minutes after her mom had left, Jackson had texted her that he was outside, as per her request since she did not want Dion seeing him. She yelled out "bye Dion", to which he simply replied that she should bring him back some food. Rolling her eyes, she walked out the door and locked it behind her before rushing over to Jackson's car. Memories of last night hit her like a ton of bricks, but she shoved all of that aside while she got in.

Today was gonna be a good day.

Today was gonna be a fun day.

So she quickly composed herself and smiled at him. "Hey," she greeted as she buckled herself him.

"Hey you," he smiled back. "You seem like you're in a good mood," he pointed. "That's good to see."

"Well, I️ kinda have no other choice," she rolls her eyes. "It's either that or you'll annoy me till I️ smile," she tells him, making him laugh.

"You know me so well," he said as he put the car in drive. "You sure we aren't soulmates?"

Aaliyah ignored his last comment in favor of playing with his radio station.

News. Instrumental. Trashy top 40 pop. Aaliyah almost gave up until she landed on the rock station and Jackson almost jerked in his seat. "Leave it there!" He quickly tells her as they stop at a stop light. Aaliyah put her hands up as they let the song play. It sounded familiar.

"I have spent all my years in believing you. But I just can't get no relief, Lord! Somebody, ooh somebody! Can anybody find me...somebody to love?"

And suddenly, it hit her. She knew why this song sounded so familiar!

"Is that the song from Ella Enchanted?" She asked, making him give her as look as if asking "you're joking right?".

"Ella Enchanted? This is Queen, Aaliyah," he corrected. "You know? World's most iconic rock band? Bohemian Rhapsody? Does that- does it ring any bells?" He asked her. She slowly shook her head no. "No?" He gasped. "Oh no, we gotta fix this," he said as he connected his phone to his Bluetooth. The light turned green and he handed the phone back to her. "Just type in "Queen, 1985 Live Aid concert, and just witness the wonderful talent of Freddie Mercury," he says dramatically. Aaliyah found it cute that he turned into such a huge fan boy, and to humor him, she did what he said and watched the video as he drove them to their destination.

At first, she was sure she wasn't gonna be too impressed. But once Freddie Mercury started playing the first few notes to Bohemian Rhapsody, a song she didn't know she knew, she was completely immersed. She was so into the video that she didn't even realized that they parked. By the time the video ended, she was in awe.

"Oh...my god. That was-"

"I️ know," he said, looking down at her.

"They're good. They're really good," she chuckled. "Wow..."

"Man, I wish they threw concerts like that these days," he whistled as he shut the car off and unlocked the doors. "Sometimes I️ wished I️ was there to experience it myself, you know?" He said, making her nod.

"I️ agree. The energy in the arena was, off the charts," she replied as they both got out of the car. "I️ even felt from here, years later." She finally looked up to see that they were at their local skating rink. "You brought me to the skate rink?" She questioned as they walked in.

Jackson gave her a shy smile. "Something different," he shrugged. "Plus, it gives me an excuse to hold your hand," he says before walking ahead to pay their way in. Aaliyah simply smiles to herself before rushing over to catch up with him. They head on over to the skate rentals where Jackson makes fun of her small feet while she claps back and makes fun of his large feet. "Oh? So you got jokes huh?" He challenged. Aaliyah giggles as she stands up and faces towards the rink, leaving him in the dust. "Aaliyah!" He calls out, standing up on his own skates and quickly trying to catch up to her.

Damn was she a fast skater.

"Gotta come catch me," She taunted, sticking her tongue out before skating on by, using her legs to propel her through the large rink. She weaves in, out and through people, hopefully losing Jackson in the crowd of people. But their fun little game came to and end when the DJ came on the mic.

He tapped the mic before speaking. "Attention all skaters," he announced, "It's now time for the couple's skate!" At the same time he said that, the music changed. It went from a popular rap song to an iconic 70's slow jam, Let's Stay Together by Al Green.

"I️'m, I'm so in love with you..."

"So this is now your time to make your move on that special somebody and if you're single, well then, I'm gonna need you to go on ahead and make your move off the skating rink until the couples skate is over," he said over the mic, making a few people laugh.

Aaliyah was about to skate off the rink when she felt her someone tug on her wrist. "Got you," Jackson smiled triumphantly but Aaliyah playfully rolled her eyes. "Yeah, by default," she scoffed as she let him lead her right back on to the floor. "Cause you make me feel so brand new," she sang softly to herself. "And I want to spend my life with you...."

"This song sounds familiar," he said as they skate around, hand in hand.

"Really?" Aaliyah raises her eyebrow. "From where?" She asked.

"I️ don't know. Probably something my grandfather used to play when I️ was a kid," he shrugged off. Soon enough, he find himself singing along as well, despite not sure how he remembered the lyrics himself. "Let me say that since, baby, since we've been together," he sang, "Loving you forever...Is what I need," he spin Aaliyah around in her skates before dipping her, making her laugh.

"You got moves, white boy," she laughed.

"Like you've never seen before."
