Sweet as Venom
Chapter 12
Saxon's Point of View
She was acting like nothing happened between us. How could she be so calm and collected and I was going out of my mind thinking about her! She hadn't gone and rebelled or made me jealous. She hadn't acted like I expected a teenager to act. Instead she was acting like nothing happened.
"Sax you coming to bed?"
I glanced over my shoulder at Libby. She was sitting on the bed, looking at me. I swallowed my whiskery and stared back at the papers in front of me. If I hadn't ran into her in Kelly everything would be different.
"Sax what's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Come on just tell me. You've been acting distance for days now? Is club business or is it me?"
Neither, it was Gabriella.
"Nothing is wrong."
"Fine then put whatever it is down and come to bed."
I didn't see the point at least this could distract me. Laying in bed I just wondered what Gabriella was doing. How she was feeling. If she was really over me. Was there nothing there to begin with? Maybe that's why she was so fast to move on.
"Yeah sure." I put the glass down and made my way to bed. I was thinking about her anyway. Might as well do it laying down.
Gabriella's Point of View
I was staring up at the ceiling thinking of only one thing. Saxon. How did he expect me to react after he pulled me aside at the party? Did he expect me to just jump in his arms and say sure I would love to be your girl on the side.
Just because he couldn't make his mind up didn't mean I had to wait around for him. I threw the blankets back and got up. Another day and another day on holidays. Which meant no school. I had been spending my time with Ice and Anderson.
Leigh frowned upon it but I think personally he was happy to have me around not causing trouble.
I put my bikini on then put on a dress over top. I was planning on going to the beach today. The drive was only half an hour.
I had my bag packed and was walking across the lot when Ice spotted me. Just my luck everyone was outside. It was this weather. The next thing I had to do was even worse. I had to ask Saxon if I could borrow the truck.
I walked towards them. Saxon was leaning against a pole, smoking and watching me.
The boys were sitting around a picnic table.
"Um Hi Saxon." I fiddled with the strap of my bag.
"Gabriella."
"I was wondering if I could borrow the truck. I was planning on heading to the beach for the day."
"What you're going to the beach!" Ice was up and walking towards us. "Where was my invitation?"
"Or mine." Anderson sung over his shoulder.
"You know the beach sounds like a really good idea Sax, it's so hot." Libby came out of nowhere and was at Saxon's side.
This couldn't be happening.
"Um so can I borrow the truck or not?" I asked giving Saxon a pointed look. The last thing I wanted was Libby joining us.

"We can take my car. Anyway Sax you said you had nothing on today. The boys want to go and Gabriella won't be by herself." Libby smiled at me.
Bitch don't push me.
"Fine we will all go." Saxon stomped on a cigarette butt.
Just breathe Gabriella.
"Ice?" I walked around Saxon and headed towards him. He was about to head inside to pack a bag I guess like everyone else was doing. "Can I ride with you?"
He smirked "Knew it was only time before you came around."
"So is that a yes?"
"It's a no." Leigh crossed his arms. "If you want to ride on the back of a bike it will be mine."
"Fine then I'll ride with you." I didn't care as long as I wasn't trapped in a car with Libby. "Hurry up would you all I'm ready to go."
--
Saxon's Point of View
She was wearing a bikini that flaunted everything. It had half the men drooling and the other half just staring. Of course the beach was flooded with women, but Gabriella had the looks. Libby was lying next to me on a towel reading a book, sun baking as she said. While Gabriella was mucking around with the boys, laughing that laugh that had me wanting to follow her every word.
"Gabs come on just play one round." Ice threw the ball in the air smirking at her.
"She's dangerous with a bat." Leigh was like me and hadn't got changed into swimming wear and looking like a complete tool. He was sitting on the side too.
"Thanks Leigh." She glowered at him "Just for that I will have a hit." She walked determined over to the boys and took the bat from Anderson.
Beach cricket.
Fucking frustrating game and a waste of time if you ask me. In fact if you asked me this day could be better spent doing anything but watching Gabriella. Everything I want and can't have wearing barely anything. Torture.
"Oh look out she's got her determined face on." Ice threw the ball up in the air and caught it. "Well come on then show us what your made of."
"You know Ice I did grow up with Leigh as my brother. So I wouldn't just wipe me off."
"You're a girl."
"So you're saying I can't hit a ball?"
"Yep."
"Just throw the damn ball."
"Fine, fine I will." Ice took a few steps back and then did a quick run up and balled the ball. To everyone's surprise, Gabriella hit it- hard and far.
I smirked in disbelief. Of course she was good at this. She was brought up on a farm with Leigh for a brother. He loved sports.
Ice's mouth dropped open. Leigh coughed with a smile. Anderson shook his head.
"I'm not going to get that." Anderson said crossing his arms.
Couldn't the boys wear tops? Would it kill them to not be bare chested. I wanted to grumble an order at them to cover up. Gabriella was surrounded by half naked men. While I was fully clothed, right down to riding boots.
"So who wants to say sorry first, Ice?" She smugly swung the bat around.

"That doesn't count I under armed it." Ice defeated himself.
"Whatever." Gabriella rolled her eyes and dropped the bat. I watched her scan the beach. "I might go for a walk." I saw her lock eyes with someone across the beach. Who was that? A young male. Surely she had had enough males, she was surrounded by them.
"We'll come." Anderson said.
"Um no you won't because if I go up to Cody asking for weed with you two, he is bound to say no. So I'll be back."
She was going to buy weed? Now? Didn't she know we had our own supplier?
"Why would you do that, when we have our own supply?" Anderson was straight on to it.
"Because then I wouldn't have an excuse to talk to him then would I?"
"You wanna talk to that fag?" Ice spluttered. "You're joking right?"
"No. Now leave me alone." She walked past him and headed up the beach. I was surprised Leigh didn't say anything. Maybe he was use to his sister's drug habits.
I sure as fuck didn't approve.
Wasn't like I could go after her and tell her no. I glanced at Libby, still reading. Why didn't she have any bad qualities?
And why the fuck did I find it attractive that Gabriella did.
I watched her walk up to them and I could tell from her, they were hitting on her; and why wouldn't they? She was drop dead gorgeous. I knew then I had to sort shit with Libby. Because Gabriella was going to end up with someone and I wanted it to be me.
So when we get back Libby and I were talking I was going to tell her the truth. It wasn't working.
--
Gabriella's POV
Cody could talk. And when I say talk, I mean talk shit. But he was hot and had that whole bad boy image rocking. Not to mention he wasn't involved with the club, which meant Leigh knew little about him apart from he dealt weed; and he only knew that because I told him.
I didn't end up going back to the club with the boys, instead I stayed with Cody and his friend Josh. We hit up the café on the pier and the afternoon sort of disappeared. But I still couldn't manage to not think about Saxon. It was like everything floated back to him. I wondered what he was thinking when we were on the beach together and to be honest with myself, when I spotted Cody I took it as a way out.
I needed to get away from him because he was driving me mad. Just sitting there all quiet with his ex wife.
Why did I have to have feelings for him?
I was buggered by the time I got back to the cottage. I was cold and needed sleep. Two things I was expecting, until I turned the door handle and it was unlocked. I remember locking it.
Great. Looks like Leigh wasn't happy about Cody after all. Great another lecture.
The doors swung open and I wasn't surprised the lights were on.
And there he was.
Sitting on my couch, topless, showing off his tattoos, smoking what seemed to be weed and looking at me like I was something to eat.
"Saxon what are you doing here? I mean um I know you own the joint but still um what in I mean what would make you come up here?"
"Why do you think?" He took a long drag on his joint.
I swallowed sharply. "Maybe I pissed you off?" I was racking my brain trying to think of something that I had done. But I was coming up blank.
He shook his head.
Ok then. "Maybe I did something to one of the boys you're not happy about?" I took another stab in the dark.
He shook his head, blowing out a mouthful of smoke.
"Ok Saxon, I've got no idea. Why don't you tell me why you're up here?"
"I'm here because you and I have unfinished business." He stood up, walking towards me. "And I'm ready to finish it."
I took a step back, right against the wall while he now towered over me. "The last thing we have Saxon is unfinished business. Last time I checked you're with your ex-wife and I'm single."
"I might have been with my ex-wife. But you were never single. You have always been mine. Since I fucked you, you have been mine. So drop this single bullshit and I'll stop pretending things are working with Libby."
My mouth fell open. What the hell do you say to that? I had nothing.
"Come on Gabriella, don't be difficult." He gently pushed my stray hair behind my ear. "You want this as much as I do."
"Have you finished things with Libby?" I finally found words.
"No. But I will."
I shut my eyes. He will. Empty promises. He wanted both and I sure as fuck wasn't giving it to him.
"Well until you do, we have nothing to talk about. Now if you don't mind I really would like to get some sleep." I opened my eyes.
His expression wasn't masked. He was hurt. I could see it in his eyes.
"Ok then." He picked up his tshirt from the couch. "We will be picking this conversation up at a later date."
"Don't lie to yourself Saxon. You're never walking away from Libby. She was your first love and now she's back promising to be yours. Yeah I'm sure you are going to turn that down for some eight-teen year old pussy. We don't have history or a future. So do yourself a favour and stay with what you've got."
He didn't say anything but slipped on his tshirt. "Night Gabriella and just so you know, you mean a hell of a lot more to me then some eight-teen year old pussy I got a taste of. And I'll prove that to you when Libby is pulling out of this garage."
I didn't say anything and he opened and closed the door, leaving me alone with my thoughts; and they were spinning, did he really mean it?

“Your first death is always the hardest.” Miguela was the third-born child of a well-off merchant family and knew from around the time she could speak that her life’s path was already decided. She was to become an Orator, as was Xandran tradition. However, Miguela had an affinity with the magikal arts and somehow found herself studying at the Academy. She did just enough to keep up with her studies but never found the motivation to apply herself and “reach her potential,” as her instructors often said. It was not that Miguela was uninterested in the arts. Rather, she knew her time at the Academy ultimately did not matter. Whenever Miguela returned home, she would become an Orator, and that would be that. Or so she believed until, one day, an opportunity appeared that would change her life. Miguela was offered the chance to join a research team tasked with a mission of the utmost importance to the future of the Five Kingdoms. She could not turn down the prospect of regaining control of her life and finally finding a purpose for herself. Of course, Miguela might soon discover that offers that appear too good to be true are usually fraught with lies. Welcome to Five Kingdoms of Cordizal! Question: What is the Five Kingdoms of Cordizal? I often get asked this type of question about my stories by friends, bloggers, and potential readers. The Five Kingdoms of Cordizal is a high-fantasy epic universe that is the setting for most of my stories. The foundation of the universe is its multicultural, multiracial setting with several sentient races attempting to carve their legacy and survive. The world is fully fleshed out and vibrant with a rich and mysterious history not based on Tolkien mythology. This brings me to magic. To me, magic is an essential part of the fantasy genre, so, of course, there is magic in the Five Kingdoms universe. However, one critical part of the Five Kingdoms universe is that magic is an abundant commodity that is a part of everyday life and not some plot device used to drive the story. In short, the Five Kingdoms universe is the setting of epic fantasy stories with deep characters and world-building. I try to tell as many different types of stories as possible in the universe, and hopefully, you can find something for you in it.

This is a writing exercise so chapters are mostly first drafts, otherwise I'd end up rewriting each chapter for a month or more with no real changes. My goals are a steady output by not using perfectionism as a procrastination method. I've already got laziness and additions to reading/games, I don't need a 3rd reason to procrastinate.][Disclaimer 2: The main character is a more normalized version of me, with 170% less laziness installed, and a few buffs like greater courage. Other things like having a job are partially similar. No other characters are based on real people because most people I know are either too normal to be useful or too fucked in the head to be believable.]
