《Sweet as Venom》Chapter 6

Saxon's Point of View
Wasn't like I ever took much notice of the books but since Gabriella took over I couldn't help myself from having a look and when she meant they would be polished- she wasn't lying. I pulled my boots off the desk and stood up.
The girl deserved a fucking thank you for the way she had taken that mess of shit Linger put together and created that finished piece of work. She really knew how to work the books.
Irish had been on his toes when it came to his sister. I knew he was trying to shield her from the club and mainly the club life but he wasn't doing a fucking great job at it. The girl was already working our books and I knew it wouldn't be long till one of the boys took a fancy to her.
She was still sweet eight-teen which meant no brains and more than likely to fall for the first guy that gave her a look.
I pushed open the office door and expected to be met with a full bar of men and the pool tables clicking away- instead I was met with dead silence.
The bar was never empty- never period. I placed a cigarette between my lips.
Striding across the open and fucking empty room I kicked open the ajar shed door.
Then that cigarette I had every plan on lighting dropped from my mouth and bounced on the ground.
Holy fucking hell.
She didn't even realise she had most of my members parked on their arses watching her. She was too busy dancing with head phones in and washing my pickup truck.
I shallowed sharply.
The red binkie top and short ripped black shorts were doing very unhealthy and fucking unwanted things to my body.
So this explained the empty bar.
Fuck me. Why was I looking over the books when she was out here washing the fuck out of my truck?
I took a step forward only to have an arm shoot out across me.
"Whatever you thinking Prez don't fucking stop her, my cock is begging you." Ice's eyes didn't leave Gabriella.
I shoved his arm out of my fucking way and stormed across the lot. She was fucking lucky her brother was out of town for the weekend or otherwise this would be a different situation.

Might not of got to see her half naked either. Curse me to hell for thinking it.
I hadn't even made it half way when I must have caught her eye cause she turned to face me, dropping the sponge in the bucket.
Her lips cracked into a wide grin, causing me and my whole fucking body to freeze. How the hell could she be looking at me like that?
She pulled her ear buds out and walked bare footed towards me.
"I thought considering the truck has mainly been hauling my ass around I might give it a clean for you." Her lips were moving but my eyes were struggling not to stare at that bouncing cleavage.
"I..you.."I coughed and ran a hand through my hair. "You didn't have too."
"I don't mind." She gave me that knee buckling grin again. "You alright? You look like your about to pass out?" She frowned.
"Heat." I stuttered out. "Um.. surely you've got better things to do then wash my old pickup."
"Nope." She put her hands in her back pockets and rocked on her heels. Her eyes slowly widening. "You don't mind that I washed it do you? Fuck. I should have asked."
She was panicking and I was causing it. "No its fine. I just meant you didn't have too. Thanks but." I looked over my shoulder. "Think the boys are thanking you too for entertaining them."
She frowned, then looked over my shoulder. When her cheeks slowly crept with redness I felt guilty for mentioning it. It also fucking bothered me that they were still staring. Wasn't like Gabriella was mine or anything but still it fucking bothered me that they were looking at her.
"Sorry." She stared down at her feet. "I'll up finish up and then let you have your men back."
"Their useless anyway. So no point hurrying." I dipped my head, to meet her eyes. "Bunch of old pervs anyway."
"Aren't all men?"
My eyebrows arched, "Someone giving you trouble?"
"I just meant that it's a male thing. Show the bit of kindness or skin and the next thing you know your being asked out to this party and holding hands without asking."

"Someone hassling you?"
She crossed her arms. "Don't worry about it. Not like you give a toss anymore then my brother." She let out a hot breath of air. "Look I just wanted to wash your truck cause you have done a shit load for me and I've done nothing back. If I've stepped on toes, I'm sorry."
She didn't give me a chance to say anything back, instead she spun on her heels and walked back to the truck.
Well would you look at that I managed to piss Gabriella off within minutes.
Totally the opposite too what I wanted.
I patted down my vest, searching for a cigarette. Came up dry.
"Gabriella," My feet were moving before I realised that I shouldn't be giving a fuck. "If someone is giving you trouble I can talk to the tosser and get him off your back."
She flicked her hair over her shoulder. "Not your problem."
"If one of my men are hassling you, it's my fucking problem."
"Not one of your men."
"So what a school kid is giving you trouble?"
She groaned and turned around. "Don't worry about it Saxon. I'm sorry I opened my mouth."
"Why don't trust me?" I took a step closer to her, purposely stepping into her personal space.
Why was it when it came to this girl I was doing everything backwards.
My guts curled, when I admitted it to myself. I fucking cared. I cared that she was being harassed by someone.
"I'm handling it." Her head slowly moved up my body before she titled it back to stare up at me. "You just caught me on an off moment."
She took a step back, right back into my trucks bonnet. I rested my hand on the bonnet beside her, feeling the heat coming off her skin. She was trapped now.
"Sounds to me you might need my help?"
"Aren't you over helping out the little teenage kid yet?"
I scoffed. "You are far from a kid." My eyes ran down her body. "But I think you know that."
Her eyes scorched mine. "Well at least I can rest easy now knowing I have your attention."
"Is that why you were stripping down and washing my truck, for my attention?"
A smirk cracked across her lips, and she went up on her tippy toes. Her mouth brushing my ear. "No." She pulled back, meeting my eyes. "I just wanted to wash your truck to say thank you." She spun on her heel and bent over, brushing her ass against me as she bent down.
The girl was going to kill me.
"You should get back to your boys. Tell them I'm finishing up so they better go back to whatever it is they do around here."
My body cringed and I took a step back not being able to take another touch from her.
But before I did, my body reacted and my hand wrapped around her waist and was on her soft flesh, pulling her back to my chest.
"You dance with fire little girl and you get burnt." It was a fucking warning and a smart girl would take it. I was no good for her. I was everything she didn't need.
She leant her head back on my chest, and looked up at me. "You don't scare me Saxon. Now you planning on letting go of me so I can finish washing your truck or do you want all those eyes watching us?"
What fucking game was she playing at? But she was right, we did have eyes on us. I let go of her and took one large step back and spun around.
There was something about her drawing me in. My hand felt like it was on fire after touching her. Her skin was so soft, so smooth and left me craving for fucking more.
What the fuck was happening to me? Normally when it came to women they didn't get this type of reaction out of me. I glanced over my shoulder, seeing her tip the bucket of water over the bonnet.
When it came to her everything was different. Still wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. How did she manage to get under my skin, yet want me wanting more of her all at the same time?

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
