Chapter 3

Saxon's Point of View

Never been one for conversation- never had to think about it either. Don't remember the last time I had been so careful about watching my words. But when it came to Gabriella- well I was fucking rethinking every word that left my mouth.

There was something about her. Innocence maybe? She was standing beside a bed, looking at the price tag frowning. She was wearing a pair of cowboy boots, shorts that rode so far up, I questioned if they could even be classed as a pair of shorts. She had this loose single on showing off a tattoo on her left shoulder of a dragonfly.

Her deep blonde hair was flying freely and she would run her fingers threw it every couple of minutes.

Was I making her nervous?

I should've just let Leigh take her. But the boy had a lesson to learn. You don't fucking lie to the family about family. And when it came down to it, that was exactly what the club was a family. One that just lies to earn dirty money together.

"You like that one?" I nodded my head at the double bed.

"I don't know." She chewed her bottom lip, avoiding eye contract with me. "I guess?"

"You either like it or hate. Pretty straight cut sweetheart." I hated fucking shopping. I glanced over my shoulder and there was the reason I fucking hated it. They were staring- like always.

Always fucking staring. Always fucking judging.

"Saxon." She muttered and came to my side, staring down at her feet. "Do you feel like everyone is staring at us?"

"There is no feeling it, they are."

"Why?"

I shrugged my shoulders, "Scared I might take off with a bed without paying maybe."

She cracked a grin, "You're strong, but not that strong."

"You doubting my strength baby?"

She laughed and met my eyes for the first time since we walked in here. "You know what Saxon, you're alright."

Why did hearing that make something twist inside me? I reached into my leather cut and brought out a cigarette.

"You can't smoke in here." She shook her head, her eyes flashing between me and the retail assistants.

"Can bet you babe they won't come over."

"Well considering the no smoking sign on the door, they should."

"Just cause they should, doesn't mean they are gunna."

"Fine light it up." She crossed her arms, "And we shall see."

So I did I lit it up and took a long drag. God I needed that. Her eyes were something special. Something that you didn't see every day. They held a lot of innocence, fun and fuck me love. She was something special. Even with her weird outfit choices.

"Can I help you?"

My eyes widened and I turned around to meet an older lady, my eyes flashed to her name tag. Looks like she is the boss.

"We'll take on of those." I pointed to the bed and pulled the ciagette out of my mouth. "That white couch there, the dining table to the right, the one with the glass top and those bedside draws."

She opened her mouth.

Then shut it.

I could feel Gabriella's eyes on me.

"Well then, I'll ring it up for you." The Manager forced a smile and slugged off.

I took an extra long drag of my cigarette. They hated what I stood for and yet I didn't give a fuck.

Guessing I should follow and pay for this shit.

"How do you even know that is the stuff I want?" Gabriella was at my side again, walking with me.

"Cause there the only ones you checked the price on."

"You don't miss a thing do you?"

"Nope."

"Well you missed one thing."

"And what would that be?" I glanced at her.

A smile lit across her face, lighting up her eyes "I really liked that lamp too." She playfully shouldered me.

Was she messing with me?

I hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time. Fuck it, I hadn't felt this light hearted since Libby left. It was like her leaving had brought hell down on me and I was just walking around with it on my shoulders.

So how could a smile from this teenage kid, change things? How did that lift the weight from my shoulders, when the booze and the women hadn't?

But one grin and a joke with this kid and I was falling to my knees?

"Um well if you really want it-"

"I was joking Saxon." She shook her head, "Seriously man, lighten up."

Lighten up.

Me.

Ha.

She didn't know me- simple as that. I wasn't a simple guy. Had enough darkness inside me to swallow her whole. Libby had left a whole inside me and nothing could fill it.

My phone buzzed in my pocket and I pulled it out. What the fuck did Dodge want?

"Hello?"

"Prez we've got the cops here with a warrant."

"What they looking for?" I pulled out my wallet and got my card out.

"Drugs."

"We clean?"

"Clean as a church virgin."

"Then let them in." I handed my card over to the cashier.

"Savings, Cheque, Credit?" She said.

I took the little machine from her hand, selected my account and punched in a number. "Don't let them in the back shed you hear me Dodge? They only go where they have the warrant for. Don't fucking want them stomping around where they have no fucking rights to be."

"Ok Prez."

I hung up the phone and slid it back in my pocket. Last thing I fucking needed was the cops breathing down my neck. Had guns riding in from Kelly this week and didn't need the heat on us.

"Let's go sweetheart, got shit to deal with back at home." I would have to send the boys in to pick the shit up.

I hadn't realised she wasn't following me out till I heard her running up behind me.

"Um do you mind if I stay in town? I have like this massive list of things to get for school."

"Oh yeah and how you doing that with no cash?"

Her face tightened and I had caught her in her lie before she could even spin it.

"I've just got someone I want to catch up with."

I held the door open for her and she walked out- took all my self control not to stare down at her cute butt.

I pulled out a stack of fifties and handed them to her. "Well you better catch up with them and get your shit while you are at it."

"Saxon seriously you don't have to give me your money."

"It's club money."

"I'm not part of your club."

"Hunny, when you drove in last night you began part of my family and I look after family. You feel me?"

Her eyes dropped to the ground then bounced back up. "So that is how you see me? As family?"

I shrugged my shoulders, "That is how it works." We looked after our own. That was how every club worked. Well at least that was how my club worked.

"You must have a big heart then."

"I think a lot of men would disagree with you on that."

She ran her hand down the strap of her long handbag and sighed. "Well I'll let you go then."

"See you back at the club. You get in trouble, you call your brother."

She nodded her head and something within me told me it was a bad idea to leave her here, still I had to get back to the clubhouse.

Couldn't let this fine piece of woman get in the way of the club.

"Bye Saxon."

I nodded my head and walked around the truck. I shouldn't be fucking leaving her- my gut was telling me. But I was needed back at the clubhouse had cops to piss on.

So I did a sharp turn in the truck and glanced in the rear vision mirror watching her back walk down the street. Why did I have the feeling when I saw her next I would regret leaving her by herself?
