《Daredevil: Born Again》Chapter 4: Contract Out

Matt somehow had his arm wrapped around Jessica's body when he woke up. He slowly removed it, making sure that she doesn't wake up. In the bed, all he could smell was a lot of beer which all came from Jessica. He had a nice sleep, it was comfortable and Jessica was there to keep him company.
He removed the blanket on him and sat down. She looked like she hasn't slept in years. There were a few bottles of beer on the table beside her so she must have woken up late and drank a few bottles. But his staring came to a end when he heard footsteps approaching. Young man, smells like sweat and recently drank a energy drink. The person was going towards Alias Investigations. He could hear the keys bouncing off his hands and he woke up Jessica.
"Jess. Wake up! Someone's coming." Matt kept on pushing Jessica. After a few more pushes, she rubbed her eyes.
"Matt?" Jessica yawned, looking at him, "Didn't I tell you to leave last night?"
"No time to argue. Someone is walking towards your office with keys." Matt warned as he started getting dressed.
"Fuck." Jessica muttered, running towards her black tee shirt and jeans, "It's Malcolm. Hide and don't show yourself. His going to freak the fuck out."
Jessica groaned in annoyance while walking towards the door. She still smelled like shit. She opened the door and Malcolm was there holding a cup of coffee. He was smiling and she rolled her eyes.
"Why are you here?" Jessica asked, walking towards her desk and sitting down. "Besides the coffee."
"I have more clients for you and they pay reall-" Malcolm got cut off by Jessica as always.
"After what I've been going through the past few days, I think money isn't really worth it." Jessica gave him a faint smile and slowly walking to the kitchen, "You should leave."
"But I think you should explain why you have the Daredevil costume under your desk." Malcolm chuckled when he got it under the desk and started playing with it, "Has a lot of blood though."
"Don't touch my stuff," Jessica grabbed the suit and walked towards her bedroom. "I'll talk to you later!"
"Can I borrow the suit though?" Malcolm joked
"Fuck off!"
Jessica tossed Matt his suit while he was dressing up. He wore the same thing he wore last night, gray sweater and jeans. He stood up when he finally heard Malcolm walking back to his apartment.
"Thank you, Ms. Jones, for letting me stay in your apartment after keeping me here." Matt smirked as he started walking towards the apartment door.

Before he could walk outside, Jessica grabbed his arm and they looked at each other for a moment. Matt could sensed that she wanted something from him and it wasn't the tee shirt. Without hesitation, Jessica brought his neck down to him and they touched lips. She tasted like MaCallan's and this was what he needed. Her lips were soft and far better than others he kissed. She wanted more and Matt gave it. He kissed harder and he placed her on the kitchen counter. They only pulled out when they needed air.
"Thanks, Murdock, for staying here." Jessica said softly, getting off the kitchen counter, "You can go now."
"Jess, thank you." Matt said, as they both exchanged faint smiles.
When he walked out of the building, he was still feeling and smelling her all over his body. Back in the apartment, he could sense some regret for letting him go so quickly. He chuckled while he walked back home.
Matt was exhausted when he came back home. He immediately took a long hot shower and got dressed with his fancy suits that he always wear. Foggy was coming over to his apartment for some lunch and things to discuss.
But while he was waiting for Foggy, all he could think about was Jessica. Her lips were so comforting that he wanted to go back there. It would be too awkward to even see her again after that exchange. He was so busy thinking about her that Foggy was already in without him noticing.
"You seem happy today," Foggy pointed out when he saw Matt smiling, "Was it something that happened last night or today?"
"It was the Irish that I took down. I am happy that they got put to jail." Matt lied and obviously Foggy could notice it.
"Just tell me, buddy." Foggy chuckled, sitting on the couch across Matt. He also had some steak and wine in his bag that he brought, so that they could have some lunch.
"I ain't telling you." Matt leaned over to the bag of Foggy, "Lunch, eh?"
"You can say that." Foggy placed the wine and steak on the table for them to eat, "So, when are you getting back to fighting crime?"
"Somebody's going to notice that Matt Murdock and Daredevil returned at the same time so maybe in a few months."
"Months?" Foggy was surprised with his answer. "I thought that you're going to say something like tomorrow or next week."
"Too soon." Matt sighed as he bit the steak, "But I need to start training. You know what? After this I'll visit Danny in his dojo. I bet we could spar there."

"Then don't try and get your ass kicked by a billionaire." Foggy chuckled
Matt was satisfied with the steak but Foggy could have ordered better wine. After a few minutes, Foggy left the room so that Matt could get ready to spar with Danny. First of, he cleaned the dishes that Foggy usually leaves. And then he dressed up to leave, bringing some gym clothes.
"You better get ready, Rand. You're about to get your ass kicked." Matt said in his head.
All Jessica could think about was how much she was a dumbass. She let him leave that easily showed how much she was a dumbass. She wanted him to stay but ended it early. Suddenly Malcolm entered his office again.
"Why was that suit here?" Malcolm asked, freshly bathe.
"Why are you here." Jessica asked and he frowned. "Any clients I should be worrying about."
"You haven't had clients this week. I think it's time to bring it back to full swing."
"I'm tired, Malcolm. Give me two more weeks and I'll be ready." Jessica scoffed, grabbing a beer under her desk.
"You sure? Because you're going to be paying rent in a few days."
"The Iron Clad will be paying." Jessica stood up and chuckled, "I hope."
"Alright then." Malcolm said, walking out of the office.
Jessica sighed and walked to her bedroom. She could see the spot the Matt left behind.
"Murdock." She thought.
After a few more kicks and punches, both Matt and Danny stopped. They both didn't stand down but they had been fighting for nearly two hours. Colleen came in with some green tea and some bread for the two to eat. While they rested, Danny and Matt talked.
"So, how's New York while I was gone?" Matt asked, taking a bite at his sandwich.
"It's fine." Danny answered, sipping his green tea, "I've been doing what you've been asking me to do. Kick ass and protect your city."
"Well, it's not my city." Matt chuckled.
"Our city." Danny corrected.
"How long until Fisk gets out of prison?"
"After several arrangements with the government and his recent campaign, in a few weeks or so."
"Looks like I have a few weeks to actually enjoy my life." Matt sighed, clenching his fist, "Once he gets out, I'll be putting him right back in."
"And I'll be the one to help you. Right?" Danny asked.
"You can but don't get too involve. You have the choice to join or not. It's your decision."
"Of course I'll help you. I'm the Immortal Iron Fist."
Matt chuckled.
"You're getting a little bit more confident once you say that."
"It's a habit."
Colleen entered the room with a phone in her hand and she looked worried.
"Fisk just sent out a contract for the head of Daredevil. Two million." Colleen said.
"Don't move." Matt said, staying still and Danny and Colleen followed. "Five snipers outside. They're looking for any movement."
"How about sound?" Danny asked.
"No." Matt answered.
But they noticed Colleen so they opened fire into the dojo. Danny jumped towards Colleen and they both fell onto the floor. Matt kicked the chair and laid on the floor. The snipers continued to shoot without stopping.
"Move!" Matt said, pushing Danny and Colleen up. They started to run downstairs but more shots were being fired into the first floor, "They can't see us on the stairwell."
"Soon they will." Danny said, peeking downstairs where the snipers were firing at.
They seemed to stop shooting and the five snipers were then running into the Dojo. Colleen went to her room to get her sword while Matt and Danny fought the assassins. Danny took on three while Matt took on two.
Both of the men were beating Matt up badly that he had to set up a defensive position. Once they were worn down, Matt attacked. Delivering a kick to one which sent him back while hitting the other with a elbow. The man stood up quickly and attacked Matt. He dodged it and winded up hitting a wall instead. Matt ended him with a kick to the jaw.
Fifteen more people then went into the Dojo with batons. They held down Matt and Danny until they couldn't move. Suddenly Iron Man came into the building and took down the fifteen men with ease. Once they were dealt with, Tony took his helmet off.
"Innocent people could've died!" Tony frustratingly said but no one answered. He scoffed and leaned on the wall. "You are so lucky that I wasn't busy."
"Mr. Stark, we're sorry about the danger we brought into the streets, it's just-" Danny got cut off by Tony.
"Rand. Why does twenty people want you dead?" Tony asked and looked at Matt, "Who are you?"
"My name is Matthew Murdock." Matt answered.
"Blind Lawyer Of Hell's Kitchen. I know you too." Tony scoffed and turned around, "There are people who handle this sort of stuff."
"Like who?"
"The Avengers."
"The Avengers are just a name with nobody in it." Matt explained, "Mr. Stark, do you know where Steve Rogers is?"
"Do not talk about Steve Rogers to me." Tony chuckled and placed his helmet off, "Next time this happens, I'll deal with it myself."
Tony blasted off to the sky which left Danny and Matt with a lot of bodies. Colleen walked downstairs with her sword but it was too late.
"Asshole." Matt muttered.
