Ariel stares at the person in front of her eyes in disbelief, as it has not even been a week and now there he is, the man himself, none other than her childhood protector Devilin, standing in the door of her new home.

"What are you doing here?" Ariel asks not knowing what else to say, as she was surprised.

"To take you back," he simply answers pushing her as he passes by to go inside the house.

"What are you talking about?" Ariel asks flustered at his behavior as she follows him inside her house.

"Your mate, he is psychotic" Devilin answers as he abruptly turns around to face her.

"Are you okay? What are you talking about?" she asks him once again confused.

"Pack, we are leaving," he answers instead with a sigh as his eyes roam around the house.

"Dev, you cannot just barge into my home and ask me to pack. I thought you agreed on letting me work this out" she speaks exasperated, not knowing what was wrong with him and what he was even doing here.

"I never agreed on anything, I just didn't want to make you upset and now that I know he isn't that great of a guy that you feel he is, I can do what I feel" he answers moving towards Eric's desk and checking out the things that were on his desk.

"You are making no sense. What exactly is it that you know about Eric that you have concluded that he is not right for me? If you don't know he is my mate," she asks him as well as reminding him of their relation.

"Exactly, what do you know about the guy anyway to take such a huge decision and please don't just say because he is your mate...

I don't even know why we are wasting our time arguing about this when we can be on the way back home," he asks her solemnly.

"I am not going anywhere with you" she stubbornly states folding her arms.

"What, are you...really, did you just said no to me?" Devilin asks her unbelievably.

"Yes, did you?" Eric asks teasingly as he enters the room to find both of them in a staring match.

"Ah, you, I thought as soon as I entered the door you would be showing yourself and what the hell...

Why is she opening the door? Do you know a murderer could have been on the other side of the door and you so easily made her open the door?

What kind of mate are you?" Devilin, fires away, as soon as he sees Eric.

"But, it was just you" Eric simply answers as he looks from Ariel to Devilin.

"Hey Air, just pack your bags I don't like seeing your mate's face. Hurry" Devilin orders exhausted, as he does not want to do this anymore.

"And, why would she pack in a hurry?" Eric asks as he raises his brow Ariel's way.

"I didn't call him, even I don't know what he is talking about" Ariel warns Eric seeing his gaze.

Devilin sighs tiredly, as he finds both Eric and Ariel staring his way for answers. Even if he wants nothing but to punch Eric, for many reasons he does not wish to talk about, still he gives in and explains, the only reason is standing in front of him.

"Even if I don't want to do this, I have to. Ariel, the man whom you claim as your mate is a monster" Devilin states bored, at which Ariel gasps and Eric clenches his jaw tightly.

"Dev...."

"Hear me out first or better yet ask your mate. Either way you are leaving this place" Devilin finalizes as he pulls a chair and takes a seat.

"Devilin, this is not funny," Ariel tells him unhappy about his behavior.

"Do I look like I am trying to be?" he asks raising his brow before turning his gaze towards Eric.

"Devilin, let's go out and talk" Eric finally speaks more like grits out through his teeth.

"Why, let's talk in here. I am sure Ariel would love to hear what you have to say" he grins devilishly.

"Yes, I would actually" Ariel steps in between their pissing contest as now she was curious as well as for what Devilin was talking about.

"Devilin," Eric warns him but Devilin simply ignores him as he walks near Ariel and holds her shoulders.

"Your mate, he was exiled by the council" Devilin simply states, ignoring Eric's warning.

Ariel just blinks her eyes for few seconds thinking she did not heard him right, but when none of them corrects it, she turns to look at Eric for answers.

"He killed a few of our people in the name of his experiment, those experiments I am sure he does in his shabby place, the only reason he brought you here away from everyone is to sample your blood as well to see if it will help him cure his sister...

All of the experiments he does they are illegally done in here. Do you know the reason why he never returns to his home, it is because he is not allowed to go back...

So, now will you please just go pack your bags?" Devilin states as he tells her about Eric who just stands there quietly.

"Dev, please go" Ariel finally whispers as she do not know what else to say him.

"What?" Devilin asks her in disbelief.

"Dev, please go for now. I will call you later," she pleads his way, even if Devilin wants to argue he does not and leaves warning Eric to, not harm her.

Once Devilin is out of the door, Ariel turns to face Eric and asks him if what Devilin said was true.

"Yes" Eric answers turning his back to her.

"Does that mean I am a part of this so called experiment as well?" she asks him quietly at that, Eric's whole body stiffens but he does not turn to look her way.

"Why did you not tell me about all of this?" Ariel asks him again when he does not answer her first question.

"Are you not going to say anything?" she asks him again and this time he does turn to look her way.

"It seems whatever I say won't affect your decision of leaving, so what's the use?" he simply smiles as he says so.

"You are not even trying"

"This is me trying; this is me trying Ariel to live my life with you. To let someone see what others do not see...

However, what is the use when you clearly do not want to try this. One word from anyone and you believe them without seeing for yourself for who I really am"

"He is not just anyone"

"Of course he is not. I should have known that we both were not ready for being with each other...

It took you two years to reach to the point where you called me back, acknowledge me as your mate and I guess it will take you much longer to trust me...

You came here with free will and you can leave with your free will as well," he tells her before he walks back to his lab.

Ariel just stands in the hall not knowing what she should do now, as it seems Devilin opened some old wounds for Eric, he still was not ready to show them to her.

She slowly walks to the room he was in and knocks twice before entering the room.

"I was not going to leave," she softly answers as she enters the room.

Eric just quietly works as his back was to hers.

"I can understand if you do not want to talk about your past as we all have one. I mean even I do not want to talk or remember about my past...

I am sorry at the way Devilin talked with you, I should not have let him, he can come off as rude at times but he is just worried that I will get hurt...

He just has an insane idea that he should always be there for me, protecting me. You do not have to explain anything to me if you do not wish; I will never ask you to answer things...

I do not know what came in to me back there; I shouldn't have asked you..."

"Your blood, it's true, I took your samples. I just thought you being Scarlet's daughter may hold answer to the cure of my sister but it seems you do not...

You are not the one I am looking for" Eric answers straight.

Ariel once again watches him dumbstruck not knowing what to say back as her world comes crumbling down. Never in her life did she ever think he would betray her in that way.

In her life, for the first time did she put her trust in someone and he broke it. She just stands in the door way and watches his back while he silently works as if he just did not turn her life upside down.

Therefore, she too silently walks out of the door and his life.

Devilin keeps watching back at Ariel as she hasn't said anything after she called him to take her back and now that they are driving to the airport she was silent.

"Will you say something?" he asks worried seeing her so quiet.

"There is nothing to say, Dev," she answers staring out of the window.

She just watches the places pass by through the window, as she really has nothing to say. Just a few hours ago her life turned upside down, never in her life did she let anyone in but once, just once she took the risk to put her trust in someone but all she got was he using her in the worst way.

She does not understand why he did it, without her consent. She would have happily given him her blood sample, all he had to do was ask, but he did not.

Now here she was hurt and confused by his act. It was not just about him using her blood but his lack of communicating with her after she found out.

Trying, he says, he is trying, but was it enough when their relation started with only lies. It is true she took two years to take her first step but it was also true that she trusted him may be not the way he wanted but she left everything for him and now he let her go silently.

She does not know whether to be sad or angry at the situation. She knows Devilin should not have acted so recklessly, but she also cannot hide the fact that Eric had different motives behind her with him.

She was foolish to put her trust in him in the first place, just because he is her mate, did not mean he was the perfect one.

Now, here she was a week away from her home and back to the same place, hurt.

"Ah, where did he go?" Adriana asks as she tries to peek through some windows trying to see the house but sees no one.

"What do you think you are doing?" a male's voice makes her shriek and turn around.

"Uh-umm, hello" she sheepishly waves her hand at the stranger who stands in front of her.

"Who are you?" Eric asks with narrow-eyes as he looks at the girl in front of him who was trying to peek into his home.

"Names Adriana, I was just trying to see if someone was in" she smiles hoping the man would let the incident go and move on.

"I can see that but why? Why are you trying to peek inside my house when there is already a door attached?" he asks making her grin widely.

"Oh, it's your home, Pheww, good, good. Let me in, I need to save someone," she whispers before pushing the door open.

"Save someone?" Eric asks the girl confused.

"Do you live here alone?" Adriana asks the person who nods his head.

"Ah, looks like I missed him" she sadly sighs before taking a seat inside.

"Can I know who you are looking for?" he asks her once again.

"Someone we both cannot find now, my fault I fell asleep in the cab. Anyway, what is this place?" she asks looking around curiously.

"It's my clinic" Eric answers her slowly not knowing what the girl wanted and who she was.

"Oh, you are a doctor? Wow, I always wanted to be a doctor but then I got lazy" she grins making him smile.

"Well, if you have nothing to do then can you leave?" he requests of her as he wanted to be left alone.

"Oh, sure, sure" she smiles getting up from her seat and walking to the door before she stops and turns around.

"I forget to ask your name" she asks him.

"Eric" he answers opening the door for her.

"Nice but why can't I have a nice name? It seems everyone I meet has a nice name, everyone, except me...

Anyway, Doc, it was nice meeting you, if you ever need anyone to help you in surgery call me, I always wanted to cut someone once in my life...

I want to feel how it feels when I cut someone and check his or her inner parts; it will really be funny to stitch them up. However, with my luck I am sure I would leave something inside their body, which will kill them because I would not remember what I put inside them...

Then they would try to lock me up for killing someone but when they find out, I am not even a real doctor and that you let me do the surgery they will lock you up instead and cancel your doctor license...

Poor you, your life would be destroyed and then you will attempt suicide because this world is a harsh place to be and no one will want you around and you have nothing else to do once you are out of jail that is, if they will not give you the sentence of death...

Nevertheless, I am sure that laws are not so harsh to kill you because you will die eventually right. Ah, good thing I did not become a doctor, such a tiresome thing I tell you...

No, not the surgery part but making the rounds to the courts trying to defend yourself and proving you are the victim as well" Adriana sighs sadly thinking about it all while Eric watches the girl dumbstruck.

"What?" Adriana asks as Eric stands at the door with mouth open.

"Oh...I got carried away, didn't I?" she sheepishly smiles once again before slowly closing the door and his mouth.

"What are you doing now?" Eric smiles at her.

"Now, Nothing. Why?" Adriana answers shrugging her shoulder

She really has nothing to do because she lost her mate she was tracking and now she does not know where he is.

"You just remind me of someone, care to join me for a drink?" he asks her politely, before once again, opening the door.

"I do, oh well...but I don't drink but I can keep you company" she answers him straight.

"That would do" he sighs heavily before they both walk out of the house.

"Ah, but why are we drinking, what for?" she asks stopping him just before they reach his car.

"Let's just say, someone very important left me and it was once again my fault that, that person left me, just like all the other times people have" he sadly replies making her sad as well.

"Don't worry Doc, I am sure everything will work out for you" she pats his shoulder before getting in the car with him.

Eric just smiles her way before he drives, surprised why he even asked an unknown girl he just met to join him and surprisingly he was happy that she was with him and he was not all alone.
