《The Bodyguard》| chapter - 18 |

"Where am I?" The first question asked as he woke up.

I was Arthur again, "Still in future Highness."

And you are Hecate's son so probably you are freaky powerful and I am your mother's hidden plan or something like that. But I didn't say that out loud.

"I was hit by some new kind of weapon."He said remembering the details of the attack.

"Gun."

"How do you know so much?" He wanted a confession from my end that I was from future.

So I gave him that, "I am from this time as you suspected."

"How did you end up in my time?" He asked softly.

"Your mother," I said in a vapid tone.

Just left out the part where his mother was Hecate.

"Why?" He asked with a thoughtful frown.

"We will ask once we got back," I answered him carefully.

Now the problem was Elias in future as well as past was heir to something. And this created enemies everywhere. Here he was supposed to take over a gang and my gang was the rival. If it hadn't been Elias, I would kill him easily but Elias was someone I will always protect.

We hid him in Dad's place since gang will never think of attacking the boss' place.

"Why was I attacked even here?" He said looking stressed out more than he was about time travelling.

He has lived all his life this way, worried that someone will attack him. My desire to protect him increased ten folds.

"They are my dad's enemies, not yours," I answered truthfully.

"Who is your Dad?" His eyes narrowed.

"Important and dangerous man."

Surprisingly, he recovered from surprise quickly and didn't question me much.

"I have to get back to my time." Elias' voice had an urgency.

"We will." I am pretty sure your mom wants you on the throne.

"No, we can't be stuck here. Alisha is still there." He said and I swear my heart stopped for a moment.

"This is future Highness, you will many pretty girls here." I tried to pretend that I was such a guy on this one.

"No, Arthur. She is the one for me. I don't really trust people easily being in my condition and all but I trust her inexplicably somehow." His reasons for liking me were genuine and piling up.

"If she is hiding a big secret for a reason will you forgive her?" I blurted out the question without much thought.

Elias looked at me and I immediately turned away focusing on the weapon in hand.

"If the secret is harmful to me I might be angry else everyone has their secret to keep. Though I did tell her mine darkest one about being able to use magic." He was worried for no reason.

Alisha was here...me! And I don't give a damn if he used magic or not.

"Will you stay back in future if I go back?" The reason for his worry suddenly got revealed.

He cared deeply for people around him.

"I will do what Prince shall order," I said just to make him happy.

I will go with him of course since the prophecy thing got stuck in my mind. He will be safe as long as I am with him.

He went into deep thought for a while and then in an acquiesced tone he said," Do whatever makes you happy."

"I am arranging a party tonight." My dad said but it felt like he didn't really want that.

"For?"

"Coming home party."

"Mel is making you do that?" I asked worried that the woman like her will be the villain now.

"I want you to meet him as a girl." She entered with a big black box.

"And tell him that I am the one pretending to be his bodyguard," I asked her in an incredulous tone.

"Are you pretending?" She asked the billion dollar question.

I was actually protecting him with my life, never pretending. At first, maybe but not now.

"I want to see that Alisha is here as well so he doesn't rush back in past."

She knew how Elias' mind worked. Well, she was his mother after all.

"But will this not be difficult for him to become the King if he is gone from his time?"

Apparently, my dad was in on the secret since he didn't question my sanity.

"Don't worry. I will handle that or rather Agnes will."

"He wants to rule his kingdom with genuine concerns for his people. Don't mess it up for him." I just threatened Hecate.

But she smiled like Mel did for me, "I will not mess it up. I sent around a rumour that some evil ministers tried to kill him using magic and that you protected him using countering magic. He is still recovering. Sending him back with make him a target even more because people know he is suffering from a fatal injury."

Okay, so her words made sense.

"So I am magical now. What if they oppose someone with magic guarding a Prince?" She just ruined my career there.

She didn't answer me. She smiled and handed me the black box.

"What is this now?"

"Your dress for the party."

"Who said I agreed to this?" I asked in a dry tone.

"Your heart did." And she grinned with joy.

She knew I wanted to see me a girl rather than just his bodyguard.

"And should I pretend that I am from this time or the past?" My flat tone was not at all bothering to her.

"That part I will leave to you." The evil woman that she was, left the worst decision to me.

I opened the box and stifled a gasp on seeing the dress.

"Thank you," I said in an awed tone.

"Is that boy good?" Finally, my dad asked and amazingly both I and Mel had to laugh at his sudden fatherly worry.

***

I have never worn dresses in my life. It was not that I didn't like them or anything. It's just that I had never had any occasion to wear them but thanks to Elias I was wearing it twice now just because of him. One time back in time and now.

The future dress was a little... modern, should I say? Mel was being generous and bold at the same time. My dress was blood red with a deep neckline and almost no back. It made me kind of queasy as I tried it on. A Million questions ran in my head like will Elias ever question that his bodyguard is never in vision when I was around. Or how the girl in past is here in future? Or how should I behave in front of him, like a girl from present or from the past?

Two girls helped me with the makeup. Apparently, Mel called them to help me out. It was weird but when we think about it deeply, my sort of mother-in-law was helping me to fall in love with his son. It was not like I am planning to marry him or anything.

Elias was staying at our place and the party was at Dad' place so I had taken him there. I told him before hand about the party and that I will be helping my dad with it. Now Mel was bringing him to the party and my only task is to escape the house without getting caught.

But was anything simple in my life? No.

Loud crash downstairs alerted my senses and I ran outside forgetting everything else. I saw more than ten men standing in the house. But the weird thing was these men were not dressed in an outfit we usually wear. Hecate did bring me here but now how come these assassin double are here.

I loaded my gun and aimed at one of them slowing ascending the stairs. As one came towards me I fired but shock hit my gut when it hit the man in black and the bullet dissolved into smoke. What the hell are these things?

Hecate will not send someone to kill her own son. And these things attacking are not too human.

"Alisha?" The sound of Elias' voice made me realise I just lost the option to lie to him.

I was shooting a bloody gun, I was not from the past.

"Apparently they don't die," I said trying to change the topic of discussion here.

I got closer but all of them were now focused on the Prince. They are from the past to kill him... how powerful is his enemy?

"Run," I shouted out to him and started working ideas in my head.

Using a tiny imagination and luck I ran to the kitchen and burned a piece of clothing. I hoped as I threw a piece of cloth on one of them that the light should drive away the dark. Elias who was busy dodging and fighting the creatures that won't die looked at me with a smug expression when he that fire actually worked.

And next instant, Elias was using the magic he was taught and that ran his blood. He put the sword on fire and slashed the enemy in front of us. It took him few minutes to kill five of them and he also fired up my dagger which I used to handle others.

As we were out of danger I sighed and sat down on the nearest sofa grateful that he had magic now. The idea of losing Elias was painful and I made up mind right then of not leaving him, ever.

I felt a crawling sensation on my skin and I noticed his intense eyes on me. His gaze was heated and made me skittish.

"Alisha?" He confirmed, again.

"Yeah?" I drawled out analysing his reaction.

"What are you doing here?" He asked with a disapproving frown.

"Trying to keep alive," I said in a light tone but his gaze held the question.

"I came here because I don't think I can live without you." Here goes the truth.

After saying that I notice other billion question and confusion in his eyes, twitch of his lips as if he wanted to ask something but he just came closer and sighed deeply, "You are looking sinfully alluring Alisha, I can't concentrate right now."

I gasped lightly at his words and allowed myself to bask in the heat of his gaze and body.

As he pulled me in for a kiss that sent tingles all the way to my toes and fingertips I know I have fallen in love with the Prince.
