《The Bodyguard》| chapter - 16 |

"I guess you need help." Mel walked in a few seconds later after I dropped back in my time.
I nodded and didn't have a chance to say that I missed her because before that she pulled out another scroll and mumbled something. She placed that scroll on Elias' injury and I saw it heal right before my eyes.
I quickly tied my cloth back as a mask not sure Elias could handle two shocks at once.
"Where are we?" He asked the expected question as soon as he noticed the surrounding.
"Future," Mel answered it for me and I glared at her for being so blunt.
"Agnes?" He asked sitting up now and observing everything around.
"She still has that terrible name," Mel mumbled to herself.
"Arthur, what place is this?" He asked and Mel gave me a questioning look.
I begged her with my eyes to keep quiet.
"She is right. We are in future." I said as gently as possible.
"Future, what time?" He asked not as panicked as I expected him to be.
"2017," Mel answered and I was shocked instead.
Five months passed here as well? Dad must be going crazy.
I wanted to ask Mel about everything but I right then I couldn't.
"Is this my Mother's doing Agnes?" He asked with a frown and I realised he was not shocked at all.
He was prepared for this situation, but how?
"Your mother knew that you will be thrown into future?" I asked astonished at all this.
"No, but I know she indulges herself in time travel through her magic and even tried to kill the present King that way." Elias was way more informed about this shit than I was.
"Now what do we do?" I asked Mel.
"First let's go home and get something to eat." She started walking in a familiar direction.
"She is not Agnes, is she?" Elias detected that much.
"A distant relative in the future," I answered in the best way possible.
"Why are you so calm about this situation?" Elias asked me.
"I am good with weird," I answered lamely.
"Or are you from this time?" His words made my heart stop for a moment.
"What?" I asked.
"Your way of talking is different and so is your behaviour. Are you not from my time?" He suddenly has to become damn observant now.

"Does it matter from which time I am?" I asked the important question.
After contemplating for a while he answered with a smile, "No, not at all. I couldn't have asked for a better bodyguard."

Elias came to a sudden stop when he saw a car and Mel on the driving seat.
"What is that?" He asked in a tentative tone.
"Replacement of horse carriages," I answered him in the simplest way possible.
"I am not sitting in those." He became stoic all of a sudden.
"Your Highness, are you scared of this?" I provoked him.
"On what is that thing riding?" He looked carefully at the car.
"Can we get out of here already?" Mel yelled like she did when someone exasperated her.
I had to drag Elias and literally force him in.
"Some respect Arthur." He said like a kid being sent to school forcefully.
The car started and Elias stiffened.
But that lasted only for a few seconds because after that he was staring outside. It felt as if his eyeballs will bulge out. He saw the tall buildings, the light around, the traffic and I don't know what else caught his eyes.
The car stopped and I helped the Prince out. He was still speechless and a bit dazed. I was back home and for some reason, I felt like tearing up.
"Can I go out for a second?" I asked now desperate to meet my father.
"No, you can't leave me alone Arthur." I saw the kid in Elias right then.
For once the Prince was gone and there was a normal boy void of any responsibilities.
We entered the house and Elias was still in dazed mode.
"Sit Prince, I will get you something to eat," I said and hurried off to my room.
You know the feeling when you get back home after a long time and everything looks comfortable and precious. I felt like that. I loved my bed, my wardrobe and even the lamp on my table. It was mine.
While Mel prepared the food I took this opportunity to take a quick bath. It was difficult to make it a quick bath since it turned out I even missed my soap and shampoo. I changed into my jeans and t-shirt and put over and oversized hoods just to hide my figure. It was cold month thank the lords for that.

I hurried downstairs worried that Elias might be freaking out but I found him munching on chocolate chip cookies with delight.
"Arthur, these are absolutely delicious." He exclaimed picking up one more and I noticed Mel roll her eyes.
He eyes me carefully, "What are you wearing?"
"What people wear in this time and I think before anyone else sees you this way, you should change too."
"You are from this time, I was right." He looked at me with narrowed eyes.
I didn't agree to anything and picked up a cookie myself.
After silent cookie munching for a while he said, "You saved my life again."
"I am your bodyguard for a reason," I said in a casual tone not realising he was in a deep thought mode.
"For what reason did you come to my time? You could have told me." He sounded a little hurt.
"I will tell you everything once we sort out this time travel thing and get you on that damn throne. And besides that telling a Prince that someone who is protecting him is from another time is not something a sane person would do. I am asking again, does it matter that I am from another time?" I asked confidently feeling a little anxious myself.
"It doesn't matter like I said but you are my only friend and we could have shared secrets."
I wonder how will he react when he finds out I am a girl. Should I just tell him now?
"How do we get back in my time now?" He asked after the cookies were finished.
"Before that Prince, I need to meet my dad."
***
Why was I sent here? Agnes back in time could have healed the dying Prince but maybe that will put Prince in suspicion as to how did he live through a fatal wound and superstitious people back then would have freaked out.
Elias was with Mel right now and I was glad that he was alive and well. He was apologetic for being even a little bit angry since I was back in time protecting him while my family was here.
I was glad that he understood my suffering as well.
Mel told me that she has kept dad posted how I ran away and that I was fine. I wonder if Agnes and Mel had some kind of connection from time barrier. Dad was fine but really mad at me.
"Dad," I called out when I noticed him standing with a gun talking to a group of people. The mood was hostile and I was not least bit scared. I have gotten better with this shit.
"Always wrong time." My dad's right-hand man said and I gave him a cold look.
"Do we need to kill someone?" I asked in a cool yet threatening tone.
But my dad looked at me with tears in his eyes. It was startling and heart wrenching to see the Mob boss cry so I stepped forward and hugged him before I started crying as well.
"It was so foolish of you to bring out a leverage Ramos." A man from other group said.
"Can I kill him, dad?" I asked with a saccharine smile.
"Do whatever you like. You are the only one I have." He conveyed his feelings in few words.
He was sorry for scolding me and always wishing for a son.
"But if you run away again, you will not see me alive." He threatened with an emotional punch.
I can't promise him because what if I had to go back with Elias, I was his protector for better or for worse.
I noticed the men advancing and pulled out the dagger I brought from 1735 throwing one at the leader stopping others. They look surprised and terrified. It disgusted me how they underestimated the girl and considered her a leverage.
The deal was settled with others running away scared of me and my dad. My dad might not have killed them since he was all gang rules but I was not.
"Now miss you need to be scolded for your running away stunt." He looked sternly at me.
"Before that dad, I need to show you something," I said with a puppy dog eyes that I know will melt his heart.
It was time my dad met the only other important man in my life.
