《The Bodyguard》| chapter - 2 |

Horse riding, okay. Broken roads and muddy path, fine. But suddenly an old rusted gray palace in my view...not okay. I stopped at an appropriate distance and noticed something like palace guards, the people conspiring before hiding in the bushes. And one of them pulling a cart to get the gates open. Inside the cart were one more pretending to be a dead body but he was going to attack the front guards.
They couldn't be this confident unless they had someone helping them from inside the palace. I knew enough strategy through my line of work. But what actually stopped me was my outfit. If, a big if this was some theme-based amusement park? Or a party?
But how in the world did I get here?
So I got down and asked the pretending or maybe real killers in the bushes. Leaving behind the horse I walked to them shocking them a lot.
Evil, witch , they muttered something like that maybe because of my outfit that stood out but I did manage to get them talking thanks to the sword of the previous horse owner.
"Where can I find a phone booth?" I asked as confidently as possible but they stared at me as if I was a demon.
One of them pulled out a dagger and charged at me.
Okay , so no theme party. I did not just time travelled? Did I?
I blocked him easy but he was skilled. His moves were clean and he deflected most of my blow except the ones a gangster always have up their sleeve, the cheating card. I kicked in this gut which slashing his upper arm, kicking other one at the back.
Two jumped from the either side and I bit one's arm making him shriek in surprise and wild attack. My sword hilt hit one while the blade made a graze on one's chest leaving them bloody and heaving. They were trained assassins, I met a few before but they were a bit modernised.
While other lay injured, my blade was kept at one's throat in an attempt to threaten him.
"Now where is the fucking phone?" He looked confused at my question.
"What is a fucking phone?" He asked and I felt my fear come to life.
Is he joking?
So I asked the most obvious question in my head.

"What year is this?"
He blinked and then thought for a moment and answered confirming my fears, " 1735."
Shit.

I have seen enough movies so I just did what anyone with brains with do in my situation. Killing off one group I changed my leather jacket, jeans for the black long robes, some black slacks like thing but I kept my boots on; I loved them. I covered my head in the black cloth only keeping my eyes open.
The clothing was so damn loose that no one would know I was a girl so that also puts me in a safe zone. I joined the second group hiding on the left side waiting for a sign from inside the palace. I pretended to be the part of that assassin group. I still kept waiting for them to laugh or say something that would mean this is a movie or drama shooting but they were all dead silent and serious.
This is not really 1700's, I am just dreaming.
But as far as the dream went I needed to survive . I saw the smoke rise from the topmost beacon on the palace and this might be the signal because every started moving soundlessly. We were breaching in not from the front gate but from a back wall where someone just threw down a thick rope. Maybe the one walking in with the cart had other jobs.
As I climbed up the wall my hands were left scratched and itching but I couldn't do much about it. We moved silently towards the stairs that headed inside the palace. As soon as I saw the inside of palace I knew I was in 1700's because there was no electricity. Whole palace had fire torches, candles and stuff like that.
Remember Alisha, this is a dream.
Or another conclusion I could draw in my head.
The one leading us signalled for us to separate. I was with the leader while half moved to the left side. And we entered a pavilion with a large tree and flowers, crossing that we were in a segment of the palace where I saw a lot of guards. This might be the Prince's place.
But the assassins ahead of me easily slashed and killed all the guards and there must be over fifty of them. I have seen a lot of killing so I was calm about it but then there was something about killing the royalty that bothered me.

Am I with the right people here? Or could I just disrupt something big and historical?
We opened the doors which I might add was beautiful , to the prince's room. I already knew his royal bodyguard was dead so Prince might be completely unarmed. Now to be frank here , don't we girls fantasize about the guy as soon as we hear Prince ?
We do , right? So did I. When we entered, a sharp blow hit the assassin in front and he fell down. I saw he was dead and one who struck him was good. Our team started circling around the person and I noticed as the group cleared before me.
Prince, damn. The guy was hot.
His eyes were set in determination and due to lack of light i couldn't see well but he had that face of authority and charisma. He carried his weapon with a suave and his looked angry and...sexy. Well, he totally fit the Prince description. He hit every attacker skilfully but he also got hurt in the process. He was good but not great in fighting skills.
"I AM NOT DYING JUST BECAUSE MY DEVIL OF A FATHER WANTS THAT!" He yelled in a challenging tone to the assassins and I made an immediate decision.
I am not killing this guy, maybe later if he was a pervert or something but for now I had the silver guard badge and I could be just that.
So I charged with all the skill and knowledge I had. And let me tell you fighting assassins is hard. Even though I was the best in dad's gang. They were quick but I was evil so to say because I fought dirty. I used my sword, threw stuff on their face like a flower vase, a fire torch, and other sharp stuff around.
Prince looked shocked and kept fighting but his bleeding arm was making it difficult for him. So I just gave him a look to back off and let me handle. Among fifteen assassins there were only a few left and I saw the cart puller among them. So they were inside clearing rest of the palace guards.
He was the hardest to fight because he was tall and strong. So I hit his thigh and then his knee with my boots making his legs weaker by each hit. He tried hitting his sword but I blocked it with mine and this time he fell on his knees as I hit harder on his thigh. He winced and I used another one of the vases to hit his head which was now bleeding.
This man was done and I raised my hand to strike the last blow when the Prince caught my wrist to stop me.
"don't kill him, we need him for interrogation." He sounded strategic and serious.
I lowered my sword and backed up.
"And who are you?" He asked lifting his sword just in case I was the bad guy.
I showed him the silver badge without uttering a word.
"Are you his younger brother, is he dead?" Well, I nodded for the later question but he took it as a yes for both.
He looked pained after hearing about the death of his personal guard. I looked at him carefully and in the fire light, he seemed even better. He had that calming shade of chocolate brown eyes and sharp features. And he was successful in creating that weird knot in my gut I have heard so much about just in books. But his bonus point was his height that made him handsome.
Not too tall, not short just about right.
I backed up now trying to leave since I can't get fascinated by a person in a dream.
"Wait here for me. I will dress properly and then we go out and check the damage." He said while his eyes scanned the room for the blood and dead bodies.
"What?" I said in a pretended heavier tone.
Good thing he can't see me, I was very feminine to look at no matter how badass I was otherwise. My face was covered with black cloth from the assassins group.
"You are my new personal royal guard, obviously you need to follow me around everywhere." His tone was annoyed as if this much was obvious.
Follow him around everywhere? Oh yes, he still didn't know I am a girl.
