She laughed in amazement but, after suspending in air for a few seconds she began to lower until she was sitting on her bed again. "How'd you do that?" She asked in amazement
"I'm sure you know the answer to that."
"Yeah, but I... I thought I was the only one... After..." Happiness began to drain from Natalye's face and began to fill with sadness.
"After who?" The man pried.
"A-after... After..." Natalye just sighed. She just couldn't get the words out even though it happened a long time ago from her past, she still felt an amount of pain that caused her to struggle with her words.
The man saw this. "Instead of telling me could you show me instead?" he suggested. Natalye gave him a small nod as an answer.
He knelt down in front of her and lifted his hand, placing it on his temple, staring directly at Natalye. She closed her eyes and suddenly, she was hit with visions of her past. Visions of when she was a child, when everything was perfect, when her parents loved her and didn't look at her as a freak, when she had her first friend, her perfect childhood.
Then, came the vision of when she was taken away from her parents... And her first best friend. This was the day of when she made a mistake of showing her parents what she could do. Thinking that they would still look at her the same, but they only saw a mad freak who needed to be kept away before anyone got hurt.
Natalye saw how she clung onto each of her parents' arms for dear life, begging them not to let the people in white uniforms take her away. But, her father simply pried her arms off and began to drag her towards the van, heartlessly shoving her to the people in white uniforms. Then, she was shoved into the white van carelessly and the vehicle began to move.

The car drove away from her house, away from her parents and away from her friend who probably had no idea what was going on. Little did she know that her best friend had been hiding in the shadows and had seen the whole thing, but was too afraid to move from her spot. Too afraid to help her friend and too afraid to expose what she truly was. A mutant.
Natalye and her best friend knew about each others mutation. They were both different from everybody else, both special and had unique abilties. She could control and absorb light while her friend could turn into an exact look-alike of a person.
Her friend was different just like her... Her name was Raven.

This Used to be About Dungeons
This Used to be About Dungeons is a comfy slice-of-life adventuring story that occasionally features dungeons. Updates Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Mostly it's about walking in the woods with a friend, looking for mushrooms to put in your soup, or haggling with the guy selling squash, or taking care of a neglected garden. It's putting some jam on shortbread biscuits. And yes, sometimes you go down into the dungeons with your friends, and you kill monsters there, or disarm traps, but when you come out, you realize you've found the perfect magic item to give to one of the local kids that helped you out when your cat was sick. Look, the dungeons are always going to be there, and sometimes you need to make a journey to one of the Spirit Gates, or make a pilgrimage with the local Cleric of Symmetry to a holy shrine. Your tour through the local dungeons can wait. You'll have rivalries with other groups, and find some dungeon eggs that need to be carefully incubated in case they turn out to be something valuable, and help a friend to build a fishing weir. There's a big world out there, a mostly tame place with lots of magic, and even more to do and see. Join me, won't you?The cover image is Morning Sunlight Effect, Eragny, by Camille Pissarro.

Lost souls, will be rewritten soon. (Old version)
In a world where mages stand above the peasants, the nobles, and the law, it is not surprising that everyone wants to learn magic. Five siblings from a village in the middle of nowhere felt the same. Unfortunately, a dragon brought ruin to their home, eventually cornering the five blood brothers. Luz, the eldest brother, ignored the warnings of his ancestors for the sake of their survival. Using an ancient teleportation spell, he and his siblings were sucked into a portal leading to God-knows-where. In a foreign place far from home, Luz carries the burden of disobeying his ancestors and losing his younger brothers. He sets off to reunite his siblings and slay the dragon that destroyed their village while only being equipped with one useless space spell that drains all his mana after one usage. Author's note: English isn't my first language and this is the first novel I tried writing, which is why some of the earlier chapters aren't that good, even though I grew better over time. I'm still in the phase of editing a lot of my earlier chapters. But unfortunately, I haven't yet found any time for it. Daily updates are to be expected till we reach chapter 100. If your comment motivates me, I might upload up to five chapters.^^
