The plane touched down hours later after leaving and Evie felt the jet lag immediately. She parted ways with the mutant group, hugging Alex before she left. They had private security that was arranged by her, she just needed to make sure that they were safe.
That's when she made her way to the Pentagon. If she was being honest she hated working in the big five-sided building. At the CIA she could take the sexism as Moira was there but here it was unbearable. Everywhere she looked, some man was trying to undermine her. One of these men was her partner, Junior.
Junior was a stuck up brat and that was pretty much all there was to him. He always believed he was right and never listened to Evie, even when she was right. He tried to get her fired on multiple occasions but she was too good an agent to get rid of her. To say their partnership was rocky would be an understatement. It was more like impossible.
As soon as her heeled feet hit the floor of the Pentagon, Junior was lurking behind her like a disease she couldn't shake. She clenched her jaw in anger as she stormed through the halls of the pentagon.
If she knew he wasn't a dick, she would have found him attractive. His hair was pitch black and his eyes were a forest green colour yet his arrogant and god-complex nature made Evie want to shoot him. If only she could. Juniour was in his mid-twenties, only getting a job in the DOD because his father manufactured weapons for them.
However a certain person caught her eye which caused her to slow. It was a group of tourists who were being shown around the building. The blue bucket hat on the man made him stand out to her but it was her face that she recognised.
"Hank?" She questioned herself in confusion. However the sound of her partner's obnoxious clapping made her speed up and catch up with him,
"Well, well, well." Junior exclaimed, clapping his hands sarcastically. "If it isn't the partner abandon-er. Where the hell were you Dalton?" He growled in anger as she walked past him, barging his shoulder.
"Doesn't really concern you Junior, all that matters is that I'm back now." She responded like it was nothing which only seemed to fuel her partner's rage.
Junior's hand shot out, wrapping around Evie's left arm and gripping tightly. He knew she had a bad arm but he didn't care. "Like hell it doesn't concern me, we're supposed to be partners." He retaliated, anger lacing his voice like poison.
"Partners don't call each other's bullshit all the time Junior." Evie whisper-screamed as she turned back to the man. "Every little slip up I make, you're on my ass. I know you want my job but please lay off a little bit."
"Oh I'm sorry I want to not get fired." Junior chuckled bitterly as Evie ripped her arm out of his grasp.
"You want to start this?" Evie challenged him, adjusting her suit as she stared at him, her heels making it so she was the same height as him. "I can do this all day."
"Oh trust me I know." Junior replied as he glared at her. A smirk over took his lips as he lent backwards, crossing his arms casually. It made Evie worried for a moment. "I just wanted to tell you that you can't bring Magneto his food anymore, it's been revoked."
Evie's eyes grew narrow. Every two weeks, the brunette was allowed to visit Erik as a way to try and get information from him about The Brotherhood. They never did, simply sitting down and chatting. "Eat shit Junior." Evie cursed him, clenching her fist and ready to punch him.

However he was saved by the sound of his radio buzzing. "Junior, are you receiving? Over." The static voice of a colleague called out over the equipment.
"Yeah I'm receiving." Junior replied, bringing the radio to his mouth. "What do you want? Over."
"There's a small problem down in security, they're saying the cameras have gone down." The voice told them which made Evie furrow her brows. "Can you check it out? Over."
"Sure thing." He confirmed without asking Evie's opinion. "Me and Dalton are on our way now, over." This caused the brunette to roll her eyes but nevertheless, she made her way to the security room with her partner.
Upon arrival, everything was a mess. Men were scattered all across the room, shouting at each other to try and fix it but it was clear none of them knew what was going on. To say it was amusing was an understatement, Evie knew that she shouldn't think that as this was a complete security breach but it was funny watching grown men act like apes.
"What's going on?" Junior asked immediately, joining the chaos.
"We're getting broadcast signal down here." One of the camera men explained as he pointed to the screen.
It was like a bulb had gone off in Evie's head, an idea sparking on what might have happened. There was only one person smart enough in the world that could break into the pentagon and he just so happened to be in the building. But Hank wasn't the only one in the building.
"Where's maintenance?" She questioned the men, almost announcing her presence. All the men shared a look and then glanced back to the women.
"Sorry Ma'am but let the men handle this." One man told her which made her grit her teeth.
A sickly sweet smile appeared on her lips as she replied, "Sure thing, I'll leave it to the pros." She didn't tell her partner that she was leaving, she couldn't care less what he thought of her.
Her exit was slick and unnoticed but she had a lot weighing on her mind. If Hank was here then he was probably after Erik and this worried her. Was this a prison break? If it was, she was screwed. So as she rounded the corner, she silently wished, "Please tell me I'm wrong."
However she felt like she was moving too slow, it was like she knew something was happening but she couldn't get to it. She had to stop to catch her breath, knowing thinking like that wasn't going to help. A sharp pain erupted from her heel making her look down. That's when she realised that it was her heels causing a blister.
"I'm gonna shoot whoever invented heels." Evie muttered to herself as she pulled her heels off. As she began to run down the corridor, she tied them together so she could carry them easier.
A determined smile came onto her lips as she began to sprint faster. It was like she knew the halls like the back of her head and she was thankful she did because she arrived at the kitchen just after the armed guards. She reached the stairs and didn't hesitate to jump down half of them.
Dropping her heels and readying her gun, she stormed into the kitchen with the rest of the guards. The sprinklers had gone off, water spraying out of the ceiling and flooding the floor. Food was scattered everywhere and there were two guards knocked out on the other side of the room.

"Hands up!" She called out which made the armed guards part slightly, the woman having a higher status then them.
Charles had recognised the voice immediately and had regretted even coming along instantly. His eyes widened as the men parted showing Evie Dalton standing there, her gun pointed at him. He became breathless and quickly took in her appearance, she hadn't aged a day.
It was the same for Evie. Her eyes widened, an innocence coming back to them as she stared at him. His hair was longer and what shocked her the most was that he was walking. Her gun lowered slightly, she knew Hank was here but not Charles. Was it wrong to say she missed him?
"You heard the lady." The guard exclaimed when none of the mutants moved.
"Actually," Evie interrupted, her eyes becoming hard again as she raised her gun higher. "I was talking to you."
Without hesitation, Evie changed the direction of the gun and shot one of the guards in the foot. He screamed in pain and dropped to the floor, grabbing it. The brunette threw the gun at another, hitting him straight in between eyes.
She looked back to her left and jumped on the man she shot, using his body she swung herself around kicking another in the face. This guard lost balance and slammed his head onto the metal table and passing out. The man she was holding onto had his face smashed into the floor and getting knocked out.
The brunette glanced to the three remaining guards. On instinct, she grabbed a knife that was sat next to her and threw it towards them. She focused on it and breathed out steadily. The knife exploded into a million pieces, the shock waves sending the men flying back into the walls.
Finally one man remained, this was the one she had thrown her gun at. Her eyes locked onto a pan that sat behind him and she ran for it. She slid gently and quickly between his legs, grabbing the frying pan. Her first hit with the pan was the legs and as she stood, she hit his face. The man flipped and landed face first on the wet floor.
Evie waited for a moment but when none of the guards moved, she dropped the pan and breathed out heavily. She ran a hand through her hair as she moved back into the middle of the room. Her eyes looked back to the four males standing completely still, in awe and scared about what had just happened.
"Evie?" Charles questioned, walking towards her, not thinking about what he was doing.
"Charles." Evie stated in a breathless voice.
However it wasn't the reunion the Englishman had expected as a fist collided with his cheek which knocked him to the floor. Above him stood a seething Evie, her eyes filled with anger and frustration, her chest rising and falling quickly.
"What the bloody hell?" He cursed, looking to her from the floor and holding his cheek. He was still in shock about the fact she was here. He couldn't get over it.
"Ten years, Charles!" She screamed at him, tears of frustration building up in her eyes. "Ten years without a word and you show up now, breaking him out of prison. You know, out of the two of us, I thought I was the reckless one."
Charles stared at her in shock, his blue eyes swimming with confusion. "You remember me?" He asked her as he stood up.
"Of course I remember you." She snapped, thankful that the sprinklers were still going off so they couldn't see her tears. "Your little mind wipe didn't work. Now I'm pissed at you so good job." Evie's eyes turned to the unknown man standing next to Erik. "Who are you?"
"My name's Logan." The man, Logan responded with just as much sass as she had thrown at him. "Who are you?"
"Evie. Dalton." She respond which made Logan's jaw drop in shock.
"You're Detonation?" He questioned her which made her roll her eyes at the 'hero' name. Logan hadn't expected Olivia's mother to be so badass.
"I don't go by that name anymore." Evie exclaimed in response, walking away from the men. She walked over to grab her gun from the floor, announcing, "Let's go."
"Go where?" Charles furrowed his brows in bewilderment, clutching his jaw in pain.
"Well, you're breaking Erik out of the Pentagon and I'm assuming its for some 'wholesome, save the world' shit." Evie began as she picked up her heels from the door. This is when she stopped and looked over her shoulder. "Luckily for you, I know all the back corridors. Let's move."
All four males followed her instantly, not wanting to disobey her. Logan finally understood why the Charles and Erik from the future wanted him to find her, she would definitely keep them in line.
It was so awkward. Erik was simply watching the scene unfold with Logan and Peter seemed to have no idea what was happening. Evie was ignoring Charles, leading them wordlessly through the empty corridors.
"So who's the kid?" The brunette finally asked, motioning to Peter who was walking (practically skipping) behind them.
"That's Peter." Charles introduced, a visibly nervous expression on his face.
Peter waved, sending her a tense smile. "Sup."
"Hi." Evie greeted him, stopping for a moment. Without hesitation, she pushed the red button on the wall and suddenly alarms started blaring from all of the corners of the building.
Evie had pushed the fire alarm which meant a whole building evacuation. Also known as a distraction.
The women waited for all the men to walk run past, her hand on Charles' chest to stop him walking out prematurely. This made the brunet's heart race. He hadn't been this close to Evie in over a decade. Of course while he still had his powers, he would check up on her - not that he'd admit that to anyone - but after that he had lost touch with her.
Evie's hand dropped before she pushed through the doors. She glanced down the corridor, making sure everyone was gone and motioned for them to follow her. It was now that Charles believed to be a good time to strike up a conversation.
"How have you been?" He asked her tentatively. It was this moment that made Evie not regret hitting him.
"Do you really care or are you just asking that to make this less awkward?" She fired a question at him which made him sigh.
Charles knew she would be angry but he figured he'd be able to talk her around it. But the situation was less then ideal and he had to make do. "Evie." He tried to talk to her but she shut him out.
"Stop." She snapped, her cold eyes reminding him of when she first showed him her abilities. "I don't care what you have to say Charles, you made me abandon you. I never wanted to do that."
She walked past him and continuing down the corridor, the three other men following her. Charles sighed deeply as he watched her grow smaller. Had he blown this?

Hank was lent against the hood of the rental car, his leg bounced anxiously. He had hoped that they had managed to break Erik out of prison, as weird as it sounds. Their car was currently sat in a parking lot in the outskirts of the city, hidden.
The sound of tires squeaking made him look up, seeing a sleek, black car pulling around the corner at high speeds. It looked like it was about to pass him until the breaks were slammed, the vehicle halting right in front of him.
His brows furrowed in confusion, standing up straight and stepping forward. The tinted window rolled down revealing a familiar brunette that he hadn't seen in years. She didn't say anything to him, simply looking forward with a blank expression.
"Evie?" He questioned in shock. "What are you doing here?"
"Nice bucket hat Hank, you're not at all conspicuous." Evie responded sarcastically, letting her head roll so she could look at him.
Charles and Erik quickly left the car, not wanting to feel the wrath Evie Dalton yet. Hank spared a look to Erik, glaring slightly and clenching his jaw. Logan was about to exit the car too when the locks were turned on. In annoyance he looked to Evie who was already looking at him.
"No, you're staying in my car." Evie told him sternly, putting her car in gear. "I want to know what the hell is going on."
And with that she pulled away from the three men before they had a chance to argue. The man in the car looked out the back window before looking back to the women, slightly impressed about her attitude.
"Is putting them in the same car a good idea?" Logan questioned her as he shifted in his seat to get comfortable.
"Nope but I'm pissed with both of them so I don't exactly give a damn." Evie replied which made the future man crack a smile.
It didn't take long for Evie to pull out of the parking garage and start heading towards the airstrip. With a quick glance, the brunette noticed that Hank was following her which made her thankful that Charles and Erik hadn't killed each other yet.
Evie finally cleared her throat when they were on a long strip of road and glanced to the man sat next to her. "Alright, what's going on?"
"I've come from fifty years in the future in order to stop Raven from killing a guy named Trask because it starts some doomsday war." Logan explained briefly which made Evie furrow her brows in confusion.
"We've been through a lot of wars," The agent stated, not believing the man's words. There was a part of Evie that knew Logan was trust worthy as Charles had trusted him but she tried to push it down. "How's this one any different?
"The Sentinels don't just go after mutants, they go after anyone carrying the mutant gene or humans that try to help us." Logan went on, his tone becoming depressed and frustrated. "It was a slaughter and it was brutal."
Out of the corner of her eye, she watched as Logan became glum, clearly remembering something he didn't want to. "And you need Erik, why?" Evie further questioned.
"Because Charles and Erik sent me together and they told me to look for you." Logan responded, looking to the brunette.
Alarm bells rang out in Evie's head. "Me? Why me?"
"Because they said you can deal with both of them. And honestly, I can see why I needed to find you." Logan chuckled as he remebered the scared look on the males' faces when they saw the women. As he looked forward, he noticed dog tags hanging around her rear-view mirror. "You were military?"
"Eight years." Evie answered, looking to the dog tags and back to the road.
"I was in the Army too." The man told her, a small smile on his face. "World War One and Two."
"How old are you?" Evie asked him in a teasing tone.
"Old enough." Logan answered, crossing his arms over his chest however he couldn't stop the smile on his face. It was this moment here that made Evie trust the man, it was common ground between the two. A mutual understanding.
"So this future, it sounds rough but ..." Evie trailed off, tapping the steering wheel nervously. "How screwed are we?"
"Well if this all goes wrong, then we're all dead." He replied truthfully, thinking back to the words that Olivia had told him.
"And me?" She questioned him, almost scared to know the answer. "Do I make it to the future?"
Logan shifted in his seat, sighing deeply before telling her vaguely, "Let's just say that this is the first time I've met you."
In shock, Evie's eyes froze. Quickly she blinked out of her trance and the rest of the car journey was silent as Evie tried to make sense of the news. If she died in the future, was there any hope for her? What was she fighting for? All these questioned swam around in her head yet she had no answer for them.

Mature +18[?]------Hiatus notice, I'll be rewriting this story heavily over the coming weeks. It isn't going where I wanted it to, bare with me for awhile. Ideally, a months time, but time will tell.------Andrew Marks, among over a million, 'players,' is forcibly recruited into a game where the reality and fiction interlace. Where the slightest error will spell death. For yourself, for your new found allies, or the world. 'Choices have consequences,' is a lesson the Corporation wishes to remind people. In this new world where many fall each and every day, a man simply tries to avoid it all, yet the world isn't so kind as to let him off so easily.--------Chapters do tend to be on the longer side, well, in comparison to other fictions I've read on this site. Typically anywhere from 2500-4500 words depending on my mood at the time.In addition chapter releases are largely dependent on my mood so it should have at least two chapter released a week, however, I'll be busy for the next bit so it will be subject to change. --------Anyways, please bare in mind this is the first creative writing piece I have created with the exception of a novel I started writing just prior to this one. I'd appreciate any help or guidance you may give me to better my writing. Be it characters, background or setting, I'm quite sure there are a few loopholes. This is intended for a mature audience, viewers discretion is advised. I digress, enjoy, rate, comment, and let me know how it's treating you so far! I'll take any help I can get!
