《Explosive Thoughts | Charles Xavier [1] ✔︎》17 | 2023

Olivia Xavier had a tell. Whenever she was concentrating she would rub her eyebrows. And to say that Olivia was rubbing her eyebrows violently was an understatement because the women was practically peeling them off at this point. Her eyes were on the floor, focusing on the cracks in the concrete. But it wasn't until she felt the tug on her mind did she look up.
"Dad?" She questioned herself, feeling the tug grow stronger until it ultimately stopped.
From the corner of their hide out, Bobby looked to the older mutant in concern, having heard her muttering something. "Liv, you alright?" He asked her, walking over with Kitty.
"I think the professor will be here soon." Olivia told him as she looked to the couple, watching them sit down in front of her. "I could feel him."
"I'll never understand the bond you have with him." Bobby sighed as he lent backwards.
"I think it has something to do with the fact he's a telepath and I'm Chlorokinetic." Olivia explained vaguely.
Since she had been born, Olivia had been connected to her father, like they had string attached to their brains and every now and then, one of them would feel a tug. Similarly, this is how they found Jean. Olivia was connected to the red head, before she died.
The brunette noticed the glum look on Kitty's face. She gently tapped her knee and gained the younger mutant's attention. "Hey Kitty, are you okay?"
"I'm just wondering how long we have to keep fighting for?" Kitty wondered as she sighed, placing her head in her hands. Bobby place a comforting hand on his girlfriend's shoulder which made Olivia sigh deeply.
"Probably until we're dead." The women stated bluntly.
Bobby's head snapped to the women's in disbelief, his eyes narrowing at her. "You know for an ex X-men, you're a real pessimist." He accused her, pointing a finger at her.
"I'm a realist but close enough." Olivia corrected with a smug smirk. He shook his head, suppressing the smile on his lips.
"Bobby." They heard Bishop call out for them. The man stood up, leaving the two girls alone together.
They felt a gush of wind blast through the building they were in which made the two brunettes share a hopeful look. There's only one ship in the world that could get here this fast. The two females rushed in the direction that Bobby had went and their eyes widened at the sight.
Out of a slick, black plane stood Magneto, Storm, The Wolverine and Professor X. The only remaining members of the X-Men apart from Olivia. It was upsetting to Olivia that her mother couldn't be here but she knew deep down that she'd be proud.
"Professor, you made it." Kitty greeted as the they jumped down the steps into the courtyard. The younger mutant stopped by her boyfriend while Olivia rushed to her father.
Instantly, the two Xaviers wrapped their arms around each other. It had been years since they'd last been in contact. "Dad." Olivia breathed out in relief, squeezing him tighter before pulling out of the hug.
"Olivia," Charles greeted, placing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm so relieved to see you alive."
"So you got my message?" She asked him, a fond smile on her lips.
"If you think loud enough, I'll be able to hear you anywhere in the world." Her father winked at her which made her chuckle lightly. The women stood up straight, her eyes landing to the figure behind Charles.

"Hi Uncle Erik." Olivia greeted Magneto, sending him a small smile.
Erik nodded his head in greeting. "You look well." He observed.
"All things considered, I think I am." Olivia admitted which made the old man smile gently. Now it was time to face the person Olivia didn't want to see. With a cigar lit in his mouth and a bored expression on his face. "Hello Logan, it's been a while."
"Not long enough." Logan huffed, walking away from her not before hitting her shoulder with hers. Olivia tried not to let the disappointment hit her face back she wasn't good at dealing with her emotions.
With a motion of her hand, the group followed Bobby inside the building, ready to explain how they had survived this long.
The group sat around a freshly lit fire, Olivia sat opposite her father and Erik, making sure no one was out of her sight. However just because everyone was together, it didn't stop Olivia's guard from being up. She couldn't wait for the day she could relax.
"Whenever the Sentinels attack, Warpath spots them then I send Bishop back to warn us of the attack before it happens." Kitty explained to the X-Men as she fiddled with her jacket. "Blink scouts the exit site, and then we leave before they ever know we were there."
"Because we never were." Warpath added on as he sat down in the corner.
Logan furrowed his brows in confusion. "What do you mean you were never there?"
"Kitty projects Bishop back in time a few days to warn the us of the attack that'll kill us all." Olivia told him simply, their eyes connecting.
"Wow, your hero complex must be taking a hit every time then." Logan smirked, reveling in the small jabs he could get at the women. This was usually their entire relationship, Olivia would try to be nice and Logan would respond with hatred.
"Keep talking Logan, maybe I'll smack the smirk off your face." Olivia threatened, her expression dropping as she stared at him. Charles coughed awkwardly, knowing where the small exchange was leading.
Logan sighed deeply, turning back to Kitty as he tried to wrap his head around what was being said. "So she sends Bishop back in time?" He clarified.
"No, just his consciousness, into his younger self. His younger body." Charles corrected, sharing a look with Erik.
Magneto lent back, speaking, "This might just work, Charles."
"What might work?" Kitty questioned in confusion.
"The Sentinel program was originally conceived by Doctor Bolivar Trask. In the early 70's, he was one of the world's leading weapons designers." Charles explained randomly which made his daughter furrow her brows. "But, covertly, he had begun experimenting on mutants using their gifts to fuel his own research. There was one mutant who has discovered what he was doing."
"A mutant with the ability to transform herself into anyone." Erik added on, giving them more information that they could put together.
"Mystique." Colossus identified quickly.
"I knew her as Raven. We met when we were children, grew up together. She was like a sister to me." Olivia's father carried on telling them. It was a story Olivia had heard from her mother, it was one of her favorites. "I tried to help her but only succeeded in driving her away. She haunted Trask across the world. And at the Paris Peace Accords in 1973, after the Vietnam War, she found Trask and killed him. It was the first time she killed."

"It wasn't her last." Logan grumbled to himself.
"But killing Trask did not have the outcome she expected. It only persuaded the government of the need for his program. They captured her that day tortured her, experimented on her. In her DNA, they discovered the secrets to her powers of transformation. It gave them the key they needed, to create weapons that could adapt to any mutant power. And in less than 50 years, the machines that have destroyed so many of our kind were created." Charles revealed. "But it all started that day in 1973, the day she first killed, the day she truly became Mystique."
Olivia slowly put together all the pieces, her face lighting up with realisation. "You want to go back to 1973." She breathed out, her eyes on her father. Charles nodded in conformation.
"If I can get to her, stop the assassination, keep her out off their hands then we can stop the Sentinels from ever being born." Charles planned out, his caring nature shinning through clearly.
" And end this war before it ever begins." Erik finished as he looked to the group. Most of their expressions were blank, still trying to figure out what they should do.
"I can send someone back a couple weeks. Maybe a month." Kitty stuttered out, her nerves getting the best of her. "But you're talking about going back decades. You have the the most powerful brain in the world, Professor but the mind can only stretch so far before it snaps. It would you rip apart. I'm sorry. No one could survive that trip." She revealed which made the atmosphere turn melancholy.
"What if someone's mind has a way of snapping back?" Logan questioned the mutant, his head looking up. "What if someone can heal as fast as they're ripped apart?"
"It's a risk." Bishop spoke up, adjusting his gun in his hands.
"Yeah, I'm getting that." Logan brushed off the concern.
"Not just for you." Bishop responded, his eyes filling up with annoyance. "You do this, you change history."
Logan furrowed his brows, holding the front of his belt. "Well, that's kind of the point."
"Some of us could be killed, some of us may never be born." Bishop explained bluntly. Olivia would be lying if that wasn't weighing on her mind, she could be one of those possibilities. "We have no idea how things may change."
"We could keep going, keep fighting." Blink suggested which just ticked the light brown haired girl off.
"And then what?" Olivia snapped at the girl, turning her body so she could face her. "Kitty keeps sending bishop back in time? It's a flawed strategy Blink, one day Bishop might not make it and then what do we do? We're gonna die here anyway so why not risk it by going down fighting." She suggested, a bitter laugh escaping her lips. "There's no decision in this, we have to send Logan back in time. This isn't just about us anymore, it's the world, it's about everyone who has died in this war. We have a chance to save them all so why not take it?"
"You're asking us to risk our lives, for a future we might not even be a part of?" Bishop asked her, not understanding why she was on board.
"Yes." Erik responded bluntly.
"A second chance, a better chance for everyone." Charles rephrased, looking to the man holding the gun.
Bishop sighed, his gaze falling on the professor. "My people need to vote." He told him, hoping he'd have more time to convince them to go against Charles.
"They just did." Charles smiled, looking between all the people in the room, reading their minds. "They're in."
Once the decision was made, the group split into two. Logan, Charles, Erik, Olivia, Bobby and Kitty were inside while everyone else was outside ready to fight. Olivia couldn't lie, she was trembling with terror. This could be the end of everyone. She didn't know how much loss she could take. She wasn't like her parents, that's much was clear over the years.
Logan noticed it. She was uncharacteristically quiet and as much as he pretended to hate her, he disliked seeing her so silent. As the two mutants placed the barricade on the door, Logan decided to speak up.
"Your hero complex must be hating this war." He stated, looking straight up at the door, his eyes trailing the wooden grooves.
"I don't have a hero complex anymore," Olivia revealed which made Logan's head snap to her figure. "Jean broke it off before she died. But yeah, it sucks that this war is killing innocent people."
The man sighed deeply, now feeling even worse because of her response. "Look Liv, what happened with Jean -"
"- I don't blame you for it." Olivia spoke up sternly, her eyes finally meeting Logan's. "I never have Logan. You were in love with Jean just as much as I was. Sure, I was a little jealous from time to time and I knew if Jean chose you then I'd need to respect that decision but she chose me." The women rambled. When she realised what she had said, she felt guilty. "God, I didn't mean it like that."
"No you were right." Logan agreed, his expression dropping. Neither mutant could talk to each other. When did they become so awkward? "She did love you more."
"You know, out of this entire experience, this war, I've learned one thing. You never fall out of love with someone." Olivia admitted, feeling her heart ache for her dead lover.
Logan couldn't handle the conversation anymore, it felt like a goodbye. "I guess you don't." He mumbled as he began to walk away. However a soft hand on his bicep stopped him from going very far.
"Logan, be careful." Olivia told him, her eyes holding a sad expression, her lips turned down into a frown. "I can't loose another friend."
ꕥ
"So I wake up in my younger body, God knows where. Then what?" Logan questioned as he eyed the concrete table.
"You'll need to go to my house and find me." Charles spoke up, rolling forward in his chair. "Convince me of all of this." He motioned to their surroundings while Olivia lent against a pillar near them.
"Won't you be able to just read my mind?" Logan asked him.
"I didn't have my powers in 1973." The professor revealed which made Logan sigh deeply. "Logan, you're going to have to do for me what I once did for you. Lead me, guide me. I was a very different man then. You'll have to be patient with me."
"Patience isn't my strongest suit." The man admitted quietly and to himself. This comment made Olivia scoff slightly, he was practically immortal, it should be his strongest suit.
Erik stepped forward, holding his head up proud. "You'll need me as well."
"What?" Logan raised his brows in disbelief, wanting nothing more then to turn around and smack him.
"After Mystique left Charles, she came with me and I set her on a dangerous path. A darker path." Erik told him, his voice not showing the regret in his eyes. "It's going to take the two of us, side by side at a time when we couldn't be further apart."
"Great." Logan exclaimed sarcastically which made Olivia smirk. "So where do I find you?"
"Well, it's complicated." Erik responded, not going into much detail.
"You'll have to find a women," Charles added on, like an idea he had held in his head for a while. "Someone who can deal with both Erik and I."
"Detonation" Erik informed him. Logan furrowed his brows at the unfamiliar name.
"But she goes by her real name, Evie Dalton." Olivia's father explained in a sad tone, wishing for nothing but his wife back. "She's incredibly stubborn and strong willed however, she will listen to you if you treat her as an equal."
"Who the hell is Evie Dalton?" Logan snapped, not liking all the information being told to him.
"My mother." Olivia spoke up, leaning agaisnt the pillar casually. The man's expression morphed from annoyance to disbelief. He had heard how Olivia's mother had died.
At the beginning of the war, only Evie knew where Erik was so gave herself the task of getting him to her husband. However she died before she could reunite with him. Logan had never met Olivia's mother but from the stories, he knew she was a good person.
"I haven't been conceived yet so do me a favour and don't fuck up my gender." Olivia added on in a joking tone which made Logan crack a smile.
"I'll try my best." He responded before lowering himself on to the table.
Kitty left Bobby and sat at the head of the table, her hands on either side of Logan's head. "Basically, your body will go to sleep. While your mind travels back in time. As long as you're back there, past and present will continue to coexist. But you once wake up whatever you've done will take hold and become history. And for the rest of us, it will be the only history that we know. It will be like the last that 50 years never happened. And this world, and this war, the only person who remember it is you. All right, Logan I need you to clear your head and to stay as calm as possible."
Logan paused, looking to the mutant as he stuttered out, "What? What do you mean?"
"If your mind gets rocky, it will be harder for me to hold you and you could start to slip between past and future." Kitty told him as she prepared herself for the task.
"What if I need to get a little rocky?" He questioned, knowing there would be a fight somewhere.
"Think peaceful thoughts?" Kitty suggested unhelpfully.
"Peaceful thoughts." Logan repeated unconvinced, readjusting himself on the table. "Do you have any good news?"
"Well, you don't really age, so you'll pretty much look the same." Kitty stated as Olivia pushed herself off the pillar, walking over to her friend with Bobby.
Bobby's shadow cast over the man on the table, his expression serious and un-moving. "You won't have much the time in the past. The Sentinels will find us. They always do."
"And this time, we won't be able to run. We'll have no escape." Kitty added on, making Logan take a deeper breath.
"So no pressure but if you screw this up then we're all dead." Olivia stated, tapping Logan's hand comfortingly. Both mutants took a step back as Kitty readied herself to use her powers.
"See you all soon." The brunet bid all the people he knew before closing his eyes, preparing himself.
"This might sting a little." Kitty told him before activating his powers.
So as Logan screamed out in pain, the future as they knew it was about to change. Yet, Olivia didn't know if it was for the best or for the worse.

It's quite easy to get into and be engaged by at the moment, imo. I don't know where the story will go from here, but it's off to a good start me thinks." - Xenower Attribution: The cave picture in the book cover is made by Stanislav Sedov and is licensed under CC-BY-SA-2.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/ This picture was modified from the original with an overlaid moon and sea picture to be found at https://www.flickr.com/photos/ssedov/26342569905 The photographer has no affiliation to Tschallacka nor can be held accountable for the use of this picture the way as it is here.

Monster Apocalypse
When the news started reporting strange changes of mankind, though the information was obviously controlled, it was enough to create commotion around the world. At first, it was only the subtle change of hair color, though it was strange, everyone accepted such a small change, some embraced it, some dyed their hair into normal colors. Afterwards, videos of people doing impossible feats surfaced onto the media, men lifting cars, women crushing walls, children jumping up to the second story of buildings easily. Then, humans started growing beast like appendages and features, horns and tails sprouted, though abnormally small, it was growing, regardless of the age or gender of the affected human. Despite the countless funds supplied into researching why, or how, did these features come to be, it proved to be fruitless. As those features grew, it became more defined, wings capable of carrying humans into the skies appeared, tails controlled by humans emotions sprouted to a certain length, and stopped growing. And on the last day, known as the beginning of the Monster Apocalypse, mankind grew wild.
