The fact Evie had even agreed to walk up the satellite with Sean, Hank, Erik and Charles would have seemed absurd. Yet, here she was, climbing a massive white dish. Much to her surprise, Erik was making conversation with her all the way up, smirking when he noticed Charles' slightly jealous gaze.

When the group made it to the top, Evie glanced over the edge. The drop was massive. Her eyes widened as she looked to Erik in alarm. If Sean couldn't fly from the mansion window then he had no hope on this.

"You truly believe I'll fly this time?" Sean questioned the professor nervously, his body practically shaking with nerves.

"Unreservedly." Charles answered, placing his hands in his trouser pockets.

"I trust you." Sean nodded towards the brunet.

Charles smiled tightly at him. "I'm touched."

"I don't trust him." Sean motioned to Hank who stood absentmindedly to the right. A noise of protest left the young scientist's mouth.

"Say nothing." Charles advised the young man, quickly silencing him.

Evie crossed her arms as she watched carefully, her eyes on Sean as he began to edge slowly towards the edge. With one look over, the man was terrified.

"I'm gonna die!" He screamed in panic, looking back to the professor.

"All right. Look, we're not gonna make you do anything you don't feel comfortable with, all right?" Charles reassured him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

The brunette lent back slightly, her shoulder nudging Erik to gain his attention. "Me or you?" She questioned him, correctly assuming they had the same thoughts.

"Charles likes you more." Erik answered after a moment of consideration. Evie smiled sarcastically at him, knowing exactly what he meant.

Nevertheless, she walked towards the man, placing her hand on his other shoulder. "Here let me help." She told him, thrusting Sean forward and off the ledge.

"Evie!" Charles shouted in alarm as he looked over the side, his eyes wide with panic.

The CIA agent didn't panic immediately, waiting for the scream. When she heard it, an uncontrollable smirk came across her face. Sean flew towards the sky, zooming right past the rest of the mutants. He cheered as he began to scream to make himself fly.

"And the Banshee lives." Evie chuckled as she watched him. Her eyes glanced to Charles who looked at her, glaring at her slightly but he couldn't control the smile forming on his lips. The expression made Evie hold her hands up in fake surrender. "What? I don't need to be a telepath to know you were thinking the same thing." She responded with a smile.

This was the first time Evie considered Erik to be truly and undoubtedly insane. When he explained his plan to her, she stood there in silence for a while, her mouth hanging open slightly in shock. She was still trying to wrap her head around the whole situation even though it was straight forward.

"You want me to shoot you?" She clarified in confusion, lifting the gun in her hand. "Like all the rounds in this gun?"

Erik nodded firmly, a small smile on his face. "Yeah."

"Alright." Evie agreed easily, seeing no reason to argue with him. If he wanted to die today then that was his problem not hers.

With one last moment of hesitation, Evie fired four bullets at the mutant. It was like she blinked and he had changed the trajectory of all of the bullets. However one must have slipped his grasp as it was sent back at Evie, lodging itself in her shoulder.

"Shit!" Evie swore, dropping the gun instantly. She gripped her shoulders, trying to steady herself so that she didn't fall over.

"Evie!" Erik shouted in concern, dropping the bullets to the floor. "Are you okay?" He asked her as he rushed to her.

Evie gripped her shoulder tightly, putting pressure on the wound. "It's fine, I'll go get Hank to look at it." She reassured him, standing up straight and walking inside the house.

It didn't take her long to find Hank's lab and when she pushed the door open - with great difficulty - she couldn't seem to find the man. "Hank?" She called out, her voice wavering because of the pain she was in.

At this point, blood had already started to pour out of the wound so Evie discarded the top she was wearing which left her in her sports bra. She rummaged around the lab, grabbing tweezers, bandages and some cleaning supplies and tried to get to work. She sat in front of a mirror, trying to find the bullet.

The door behind her slammed open in a rage but Evie didn't even flinch once. "What the bloody hell happened?" She heard Charles question her, his voice full of anger. Evie's eyes met with Charles' in the mirror, her expression unbothered.

"Erik told you." She realised, going back to her shoulder.

"Of course he told me." He snapped, walking towards her so he could assess the damage. "What were you thinking?" He questioned her as if she was a child.

Evie's head snapped up to face him, her eyes holding a growing anger that could rival his own. "Don't scold me Charles, I'm not a child." She responded quickly and sternly which made the telepath pause.

He sighed deeply, his soft hand grabbing her's to make her stop. "Let me." He offered as he sat down in front of Evie.

"I didn't know you knew how to take out bullets." Evie teased gently as she handed the tweezers over, grabbing the towel instead.

"I don't but I assumed taking out a bullet on your own probably isn't the wisest decision." He replied with a playful smile which made her laugh gently. The first time Charles tried to retrieve the bullet, he missed which made Evie hiss through her teeth, pain obvious in her face. Charles noticed immediately.

"Are you in pain?" He asked her in concern, noticing the way she was gripping the towel in distress.

" I've had worse." Evie exclaimed as she gritted her teeth. The man felt guilty that he was causing her pain but he knew she needed to endure it for the while before he could get the bullet out.

"Just because you've had worse, doesn't mean you're not in pain." Charles replied softly as he went digging into her shoulder once again. There was a small silence between them as they both concentrated on different things.

Charles decided that even though her could concentrate in the silence, Evie needed something to keep her mind off her shoulder. "That girl that I showed you, in the memory, you loved her." He spoke up but this made her even more stressed.

"Was that a question or a statement?" Evie gritted her teeth as she gripped the towel tightly again.

"Did you?" Charles asked her, his hand stilling and his eyes going to her face.

Evie clenched her jaw, staring at herself in the mirror in front of her. She really didn't want to admit it to him because she had been suppressing that part of herself for so long. It would be strange to admit it now. "Would you treat me any differently if I said yes?"

"No, I wouldn't." Charles responded instantly which made Evie turn her head to face him.

Shock was etched into her face. She was expecting some kind of rejection, some kind of homophobic comment but there was none. For once in Evie's sorry, miserable life, she felt accepted for being herself. Not for the facade she put up.

"Then yeah, I did." Evie admitted barley above a whisper, her voice small and soft. Charles didn't say anything more, simply looking back to her bleeding shoulder. With a twist of the tweezers, pain ran along Evie's nerves. "Are you going to take the bullet out?" She groaned out.

A scream of agony emitted from her mouth as Charles pulled hard on the metal bullet. He placed the tweezers done quickly and placed pressure on the wound. The brunet watched as the women winced. "Sorry." He apologised softly.

"It's not your fault." Evie stated as she began to relax under his hands.

"You know, we probably should have gotten Erik to do this." Charles chuckled lightly as he looked to the metal bullet on the table. A small laugh emitted from Evie's lips which made the telepath proud. "So what do you identify as?"

Evie cleared her throat, biting the inside of her mouth as she decided what to do. Eventually she gave in. "Pansexual." She answered. "I like everyone. I didn't get enough affection as a child so I don't exactly care where I get it from."

"That must be difficult for you." Charles assumed as he moved to grab string and a needle with one hand, his other keeping the wound from bleeding.

"Being a mutant and queer?" Evie questioned, raising her brows at him. Charles nodded as he looked back. "For years, I've been repressing my entire personality and built a new one."

"A solider instead of a bookworm." Charles spoke out loud as he began to stitch her shoulder back up. Evie wanted to know how he knew what he was doing but if he didn't, she didn't want to know so instead she trusted him.

"I guess." Evie muttered as he began to pull away from her shoulder, admiring his handy work with pride in his eyes.

Charles's blue eyes met Evie's brown ones, staring for a moment. He couldn't image what she felt because he had never felt that level of oppression. Even as she's trying to change the world, it was never for her own people, it was for humans. In a way, she was more selfless then the rest of the people in the mansion.

Her heart rate picked up when she caught Charles staring at her lips for longer then normal. A warm, unfamiliar feeling blossomed in her chest, her heart thumping could be heard in her head. Evie's hand slid along the table as both brunettes lent forward, their eyes stuck on each other's lips.

"For the record, I like the bookworm better." Charles admitted in a whisper as his eyes darted back to her eyes, the lids slightly closed.

"You'd be the first." Evie whispered back, a small smile on her lips. "Thank you."

Just as their lips were about to collide, the door slammed open behind them. Both brunettes jumped backwards, their eyes going to the doorway, their faces a deep red from embarrassment. Neither mutant understood what they were doing however, they quickly found the other was almost intoxicating.

"Evie? Charles?" Hank identified in confusion, pushing up his glasses up his nose. "What are you doing here?" He questioned as he stood dead still.

Charles stood abruptly, clearing his throat and trying to act as naturally as possibly. "Evie got shot." He explained vaguely, wincing at the poor excuse.

"By myself." Evie added awkwardly. "I shot myself."

"That's going to hurt for a while," Charles muttered to the women, glancing at her, his face becoming more red at the sight of her. "You should rest up." He advised her before leaving.

Evie watched his figure disapear, Hank walking busily around the lab so he didn't notice her. A deep breath was released from her mouth as she held her head in her hands. What was she thinking? At this point, she didn't think that she was thinking. Something about Charles made her heart race.

Her eyes widened when she realised, silently cursing herself. She was so stupid, they were on the brink of war and all she could think about was him. Evie Dalton had a school girl crush on Charles Xavier.
