As each operation went by Jovie could feel herself losing more and more hope. She was starting to wonder if the others would get to her before it was too late. She knew she only had a few more procedures left in her. At that point, however, she was more concerned about the rest of them getting out. If she had to die to make sure the others stayed alive then she would accept it. She obviously didn't want to die and she was going to try her hardest to keep fighting, but it wasn't worth it if her people weren't safe.

She was laying on the couch in her room when she heard alarms go off. She immediately forced herself to a sitting position. The alarms could either be good or bad. Good if it meant that Bellamy had figured out a way to lower their defenses. Bad if it meant that they discovered Bellamy.

"Hey! What's going on?" She screamed as she weakly banged on the door. She instinctively took a step back when Cage appeared in the window. He opened the door and walked in.

"Jovie," he said casually. "It seems as though your friends are causing quite the mess."

"Good," she replied immediately. "You deserve everything that you have coming for you." He cracked a smile at her comment. No matter how much they did to her she still seemed to be fuelled by her anger and bravery.

"I'll admit, I'm impressed by you," he told her. "You've got that fighting spirit. You're willing to do anything for your people. We're not so different, now are we?"

"I am nothing like you," she spat. "I would die for my people. You're just a coward. I bet when it comes down to it that you'll give them up without batting an eye." He laughed and shook his head.

"Well, we'll see if you hold true to your word," he said. He turned and walked right back out. On one hand, she was relieved because it meant she wasn't going to go through a procedure again just yet. On the other hand, she was frustrated because she was locked up again without knowing what was happening to her friends.

Jovie wanted to figure out what the alarm was for but there was nothing she could do. She had never felt more useless than she did trapped in that room. She had also been too tired to cause a ruckus again. When she heard Cage's voice over the PA system, she managed to push herself up to listen to what he had to say.

"My fellow citizens, this is your president speaking," he said. "I have news to share with you that will change all of our lives forever. For 97 years, Mount Weather has been our home. It's kept us alive, but it has also held us captive. Most of us have made peace with what we've had to do to survive." Jovie rolled her eyes. What they made peace with was draining others of their blood.

"We've done these things for one reason: so that our people could someday return to the ground. That day is today. Before my friend, Lorelei Tsing was murdered by the Outsiders still at large in this mountain, she found a cure. It was in their bone marrow." Jovie's hand subconsciously traced the bandage on her hip. The revelation that the doctor was dead gave Jovie a surge of hope. If she was dead then she couldn't operate on anyone again.

"This has been the dream of our people since the bombs. But to reach it now, I need your help. The 44 criminals that irradiated Level 5, killing 15 of our people, are now keeping us from that dream. Although we've repaired our home, we can never replace the lives that were so viciously taken from us." Despite her fatigue, Jovie kicked the table that was next to her over in frustration. He was trying to get his people to think of them as the bad guys. Maybe they were in their eyes, but Cage was viciously taking lives too.

"Yet as hard as it is to believe, there are those among us who would help the people who did this. And I am speaking to you now. If you truly want to end the blood treatments once and for all, then the 44 murderers you're now hiding are the key to doing that." A small smile formed on Jovie's lips when she heard this part. It wasn't that she was happy that he was trying to recruit his people to his side, but it was the fact that her friends had escaped the dormitories and were being hidden by people in Mount Weather that made her feel slightly relieved. At least they had somewhat of a chance now. Clarke and Bellamy just needed to make sure they actually got out.

"You have one hour to turn them in without punishment. After that, we'll be forced to consider you enemies of the state. I'm asking you, please, do what's right for your people, our people. So that we can all take our rightful place on the ground. We're almost home."

"Don't speak so soon, Cage," Jovie said as she slumped back onto her cot.
