《Smile》Vanessa

The four rushed into the hospital with Y/n carrying Summer in her arms.
Vanessa ran up to the desk as she tried not to panic. "I-I think my friend is having a heart attack."
The receptionist looked back at Y/n and Summer before pressing a button.
Immediately three people ran from behind the double doors, two pushing a stretcher and one coming straight to Summer.
"Here lay her down." The doctor pointed at the stretcher.
Y/n gently laid her down and the doctor and nurses immediately got to work. As the nurses wheeled Summer to the back the doctor began yelling out orders and checking for a pulse.
Vanessa ran up and stood in front of the double doors.
"Ma'am, you cant block the doors."
Vanessa didn't budge and Y/n sighed walking up behind her. "Nessa," she placed a hand on her shoulder causing Vanessa to snap her head into Y/n's direction. "Let's go sit down okay?"
Vanessa glanced at the door once more before slowly nodding.
The waiting room was fairly empty besides two other people.
Y/n, Vanessa, and Jasmine all walked to sit on the chairs closest to the double doors.
Y/n glanced up at Jasmine. "I-It's late and um, you told your parents you'll be back by nine so...Go ahead and go okay?"
Jasmine glanced at Vanessa. "Are you sure?"
She nodded. "Yeah um, I got it here."
Jasmine slowly nodded. "Okay well, please keep me posted."
Y/n nodded before holding her hand out and glancing down at Jasmine's stomach. "We'll talk later."
Jasmine gulped and nodded as she walked away. "Bye."
Y/n watched her walk away, all the anger she felt recently gone as now all she felt was confusion.
What was running- or what wasn't running through her head when she thought to go there?
Y/n sighed and looked back over at a dazed Vanessa. "Hey-"
"I've never been that scared," she whispered. "I-I didn't know how to react and...She's fainted and had heart attacks plenty of times before and I always knew what to do but, this time? I-I couldn't think straight. I mean she's been getting worse so what if-"
"Stop. Don't think like that okay?" Y/n grabbed her hand. "Like you said, Summer is a fucking trooper so," Y/n shrugged. "Let's hope she wins this fight."
Vanessa met Y/n's eyes before she broke down. Y/n quickly wrapped her arms around Vanessa and kissed her forehead as she rubbed her back.
Y/n sat there whispering sweet things into Vanessa's ear as she tried to calm her down.
Meanwhile, Summer was fighting for her life.
"Cognitional heart disease," the doctor said. "We need to get her heart pumping stat, nurse."
A man ran up and started to pump on Summer's chest as the doctor got the defibrillators ready.
She nodded at the second nurse that turned up the defibrillators before placing them on Summer's chest and side.
She nodded and the nurse stopped pumping on Summer's heart.
"Clear!"
Summer's body jumped but, no sign of life.
The nurse immediately went back to pumping as the doctor pulled away and rubbed the defibrillators before nodding.
"Up it," the other nurse turned the dial and nodded. The doctor placed the defibrillators back and the nurse pulled his hands away. "Clear!"
No sign.
The doctor sighed as the nurse went back to pumping. She looked over at the other nurse and nodded.
"One more time." The nurse turned the dial again and the doctor placed the defibrillators back as the male nurse moved his hands. "Clear!"

The bolt of electricity ran through Summer's body and into her heart...
The heart monitor started beeping as Summer gasped awake.
Back in the waiting room, Vanessa was now calmed down but, she was still anxious.
She didn't know how long they were waiting but, she did know that if she didn't see her best friend in the next second she would lose it.
And just like magic, a nurse walked from behind the double doors and talked to the receptionist who pointed at Vanessa and Y/n.
The two quickly stood as the nurse walked up to them and nodded.
"Hi, I'm assuming you two are with the woman just brought in?"
Y/n and Vanessa quickly nodded. "Yes, is she okay?"
The nurse nodded. "We were able to revive her-"
"Revive? I thought it was just another heart attack."
"Another?" The nurse hummed. "Have you filled out the paperwork yet?"
They both shook their heads and the nurse nodded. "Can someone do that for me so I can know exactly what's going on?"
Y/n glanced at Vanessa before looking back at the nurse. "Can she go see Summer while I fill out the paperwork?"
They both looked at Y/n and the nurse nodded. "That's fine."
Vanessa turned to Y/n. "Do you know everything?"
"I know the basics- look don't worry about the paperwork, you go see her."
Vanessa nodded and turned to the nurse as they both walked into the back.
Y/n sighed and walked up to the receptionist who was already holding a clipboard and pen out to Y/n.
Y/n smiled and took it as she looked down at all the papers.
I fucking hate paperwork.
Back with Vanessa, she was entering the room Summer was in. She rushed up to Summer who laid back with her eyes closed.
Vanessa pulled a chair up and sat down as she gently grabbed Summer's hand.
Summer stirred and slowly opened her eyes before giving Vanessa a weak smile.
Vanessa tried to hold back a sob causing her to whimper as she looked down at her best friend that looked dead.
"Hi, Princess." Vanessa whispered as she looked down and caressed Summer's cheek.
Summer sighed looking up at Vanessa who was obviously trying to stay positive, however...Summer already knew that this would be her last night alive.
"Hi baby," Summer whispered weakly. "After all this time huh?"
Vanessa shook her head as a tear rolled down her cheek. "Don't talk like-"
"Like I'm going to die?"
Vanessa sniffed. "Summer."
Summer shook her head as a tear trailed down her cheek. "I'm not going to make it baby-"
"Princess-"
"There's no point in pretending," she swallowed deeply. "I'm going t-to die so why waste time going through the whole denial phase huh? We're in the moment now and we might...as well make the most out of it."
Vanessa scoffed. "This is fucking bullshit."
Summer nodded. "You...knew what you signed up f-for," she gulped. "I told you that this could happen from the beginning."
Vanessa glanced at the heart monitor as it seemingly slowed down. "Exactly, but you know what? Fuck what you said yeah?" She looked back down at Summer who was smiling up at her. "See, I said fuck what you said, you know what that means?"
She nodded weakly. "I have to beat your ass."
Vanessa chuckled and sniffed. "Exactly, so stay strong so you can do that."
"Stop it baby, look...All my life I've made you promises right?"

Vanessa sobbed and nodded.
"Well now you need to make me a promise," Summer gripped her hand. "Promise me that my death won't hold you back, promise me that you'll be happy whether that's with or without Y/n. Promise me that you won't hold anything back and that you won't let anyone else manipulate you."
Vanessa nodded.
"I've always thought about what I'd say on my deathbed and, no matter what age or what I was dying from...You were always by my side holding my hand, so thank you." Vanessa held back another sob as she squeezed Summer's hand.
"I want you to know that I'm... content Vanessa and, the sooner you realize that I'm okay with what's about to happen, the sooner you'll be okay too."
Vanessa shook her head. "You think I'll ever truly be okay?"
Summer nodded slowly. "Yes...Want to know why?"
Vanessa rolled her eyes. "I'm sure you're going to tell me."
Summer chuckled weakly. "Because your Vanessa fucking Moe. Your the woman who overcame an abuser, the woman who saw her mother get murdered and still kept on pushing, your the woman whose been by my side dealing with this bullshit for years...Your the strongest person I know and I know you'll be okay. It's going to hurt baby I know but, it'll get better and it'll be easier to deal with."
Vanessa let Summer's words register as she watched her best friend.
"I'm finally free baby, no more bullshit, I'm done with this heart," Summer chuckled. "I couldn't be more content."
Vanessa nodded quickly. "Your okay?"
"I'm okay."
Vanessa exhaled shakily. "Then I'm okay too."
Summer smiled and nodded. "I um, need you to thank my parents um...They obviously won't get the chance to talk to me so let them know what you know and let them know how much I love them...Thank them for being fucking amazing parents and supporting me throughout all of this...your parents too."
Vanessa nodded as a fresh new tear fell from her eye and started down her cheek. "I'll definitely tell them."
Summer nodded and watched as the tear slowly fell off of Vanessa's cheek. She watched as the teardrop separated itself from Vanessa's being and, in a term she's never felt more comfortable with...The tear died.
"I love you, Vanessa."
Once it left Vanessa's face, it died, and now it was just falling through the air waiting until it hit a surface...Waiting for the last impact before it was completely gone.
"I love you too Princess."
The tear came closer and closer to Summer's eyes. It was almost poetic how the tears last impact would be on the surface of someone who is also experiencing their last impact.
Summer smiled at Vanessa and nodded. Vanessa sobbed because she knew that nod meant goodbye.
The tear finally reached its surface and, like any natural human when something is coming towards their eye, Summer closed hers, allowing the tear to splash onto Summer's motionless eyelid.
Vanessa watched as Summer exhaled slowly...
And then the grip on her hand loosened...
And the heart monitor flatlined...
Then the doors burst open and all Vanessa noticed was the distance growing between her and Summer.
She felt arms wrapped around her and she finally snapped out of it once she could no longer see her best friend.
Vanessa looked down at the arms holding her and she sighed as she laid her head onto Y/n's chest.
"She left me."
Y/n sighed. "I'm so sorry Nessa."
Vanessa looked around as she realized they were in the hallway now. "Don't be."
Y/n pulled away and met Vanessa's eyes. "Don't be?"
Vanessa looked down as she smiled softly. "She left me but, she's finally free."
This shit hurt Vanessa, deeply. Of course it would but, a major part of her felt happiness now that she knew her best friend got what she wanted...
To get rid of that damn heart.
Summer wouldn't suffer anymore, she wouldn't have to live every day like it's her last, she wouldn't have to endure the pain of mini heart attacks, and chest burns, and the aches after surgeries.
Summer is okay and yes, Vanessa will never get to hold her or joke with her again but, she's willing to go through that pain if it means Summer no longer had to.
"Are you okay?"
Vanessa sighed and looked back up at Y/n. "I'm hurting but, I'll get better with time."
She nodded and continued to watch Vanessa. "Your handling this way better than I thought."
"Can I ask you a deep question?"
"Will it make the both of us cry?"
Vanessa chuckled and sniffed. "Of course it will."
Y/n nodded. "Well, go ahead."
"Your mom, are you finally at peace with her death?"
Y/n looked down and smiled softly. "Very much so."
"And how long did it take?"
"A while but, that's because I didn't want to admit the fact that she was gone because I never got the chance to say goodbye," Y/n looked up at Vanessa. "You said your goodbyes and of course everyone is different but, let everything she said to you resonate. Don't ever forget her words and let them carry you for the rest of your life."
Vanessa sniffed and looked forward at the wall across from them.
Vanessa closed her eyes and nodded.
I promise to keep those promises Summer.
Vanessa slowly opened her eyes and they sat in silence for a while as they thought about everything that happened and what would happen in the future.
"It was all David's idea," she looked over at Y/n who frowned looking at her. "He knew you were going to be the next huge thing and he made me get closer to you in order to bring up my fame."
Y/n nodded. "I figured it had to be something like that, I was just too angry to acknowledge it."
Vanessa chuckled softly and looked back at the wall as Y/n sighed. "So, what now?"
Vanessa raised a brow. "What do you mean."
"I mean," she looked over at her. "What are you going to do now?"
Vanessa hummed. "Do you still want to be with me?"
"Of cour-"
"I don't want yo to stay with me just because you pity me," Vanessa wiped her cheeks. "I know you love her more than me."
Y/n frowned and looked down as she thought about a conversation she had not too long ago.
No, my heart doesn't go crazy at the sound of her voice like with Jasmine, Y/n thought as she smiled softly and looked over at Vanessa.
But, that damn smile definitely does it for me.
Y/n reached out and cupped her cheek as she turned Vanessa's face towards hers. She leaned forward and rested her forehead against Vanessa's.
"Don't lie to me or yourself," Y/n nodded. "Like I said before, I'll probably always have feelings for Jasmine but," she caressed Vanessa's cheek. "That doesn't mean I can't love someone...You, more then I love her. It's been a long time coming and, thanks to that damn smile I finally know who I want to spend the rest of my life with," she leaned in and kissed Vanessa causing both of their hearts to go crazy. "I love you, Vanessa Moe."
Sad and joyful tears mixed together as they cascaded down Vanessa's cheeks. She nodded and smiled slightly. "I love you too Y/n Y/ln."
She leaned in and pressed her lips against Y/n's again and, even though she still felt the pain in her heart for the loss of her best friend...
...She couldn't help but, in this moment, feel an unmeasurable amount of happiness as she kissed the girl of her dreams.

How a lame loner's life is not like normal dudes
Are you a loner? If you ask me I have to say yes. And it has nothing to do with the plot. The summary is going to be messy so please bear. *The Summary* Join the adventure of our MC Akito. Who's a Japanese 2nd Year High School student going throuh with an unusual problem. And that is the writer has not casted him in a good narrative story. The MC is going through serious depression and anxiety due to this and he doesn't even know what's going to happen with him in the near future. And of course this won't be narrated in the story because the author is a lazy hobo who has no will to write. *Lame unimportant information* *Please skip this part* Its a story of a character who happens to be the character of a writer. And that writer by the way is the character of another story. Basically its a story of that guy. And here the main character happens to be me (the main character here. I'm narrating the story for your information.). And its kind of sad that its a comedy rather than gruesome action fantasy or virtual reality story. But its an uncommon story which you'll never hear about or will never see be famous for some lame reasons. By the way the author doesn't even have any aspiration to imrpove his grammar so whack him for his terrible excuse of grammar. And also be prepared to wash your eyes with bleach after reading it. Bleach is gonna clean your eyes ;)
