《Smile》Twenty two

"Okay, what's going on with you and Summer?" Quincy asked.
"Oh, we broke up." I said biting my banana.
"How'd you two break up if you were never together?" He frowned. "Damn, you really suck at relationships."
I nodded. "I feel like an ass."
"What did you do?" He sat next to me on the couch.
"I can't get over Vanessa," I sighed. "We kissed once and now I'm hooked."
"Vanessa rejected you," He shook his head. "Isn't that a good enough reason to move on?"
"It should be, but it's not." I shrugged.
"Well, I see it like this, you talk to Vanessa, no arguing or walking away, and ask her if she's willing to leave Dobrik and be with you." He said.
I chuckled. "And if she says no?"
"Move on, don't waste your time on somebody who doesn't want you," He scoffed. "If she's not willing to leave her boyfriend for you then why should you stay stuck on her and ignore everyone else."
He's right, I kind of wish I had this talk with him a little earlier though.
"Do you not have any feelings for Summer?" He asked.
"No, I actually do like her," I shook my head. "But, I already fucked that up."
"Doesn't mean you can't fix it, just be sure about her this time, win her back and prove that Vanessa was just a little crush." He laid his head on my shoulder looking at the tv.
"You should go on Tedtalk, you were just preaching." I chuckled.
"Hell yeah I should." He laughed.
I looked down at him as he smiled up at me. "Are we about to kiss?" I asked.
He tapped his chin. "Nah, I'm not gay."
I frowned. "But, I'm a girl."
"Doesn't matter that's gay." He said looking back at the tv.
"Your gay," I mumbled standing up. "I'm gonna go talk to her now."
"Oh shit, first thing in the morning?" He nodded. "You go girl."
I smiled and headed up to the room spotting Vanessa on the bed.
"Where's Summer?" I asked.
"Bathroom, what's on your mind?" She asked looking up at me.
"I'm going to get straight to the point," I closed the door behind me and sat next to her. "Summer and I broke up I guess you could say, and the reason we did is because I can't get over you, I'm constantly flirting with you, and you constantly flirting with me it's really confusing." I cleared my throat. "I like you, a lot but, you rejected me before so now I'm asking you again, will you leave David for me?"
She started at me for a moment and then shook her head. "Why can't you just fall for Summer?"
"That's the problem, I like her too but I guess since I fell for you first I want you more," I shrugged. "I start to get closer to Summer and then you randomly walk in and all my attention goes to you."
"Well that's exactly how it is for me, I won't leave David Y/n, if I met you first we would definitely be happy together, I'd be happy," She whispered zoning out.

"But?" I leaned closer.
She shook her head. "But, it didn't happen like that so I'm gonna stay with David."
I sighed. "Yeah, I figured you'd say that."
"I'm sorry." She said softly.
"Don't be it's fine." I stood up.
"Wait, what about Summer, you're going back to her right." She asked sitting up on her knees.
"The way you said go back to her makes me feel like I shouldn't, It sounds like I'd just be settling for her and Summers to damn amazing for that, if I don't get my shit together she deserves better and I'm not gonna hold her back," I walked towards the door. "So, as of right now, no I won't be dating her again." I smiled and walked out of the room.
What's this, my third time getting rejected by Vanessa? Maybe I'll learn my lesson this time. Or maybe, as Zendaya best put it, we'll be putting this conversation on replay.

"Y/n keep your fingers out of the batter." My mom said smacking my hand.
I jumped away I frowned. "The batter will probably taste better than the cake anyway." I mumbled under my breath and went to walk away when I felt a spoon hit my butt. "Mom."
"Y/n," She pointed the spoon at me. "Keep playing with me."
I heard Zayn snicker and walk back upstairs. I sat on a stool as Summer and Travis rushed downstairs. "Mom, I hurt my finger."
I looked down at his hand and saw it bleeding. "What happened dude?" I asked as my mom quickly turned around.
"He broke a glass and tried to pick it up." Summer rubbed his back.
"Travis," my mom walked over to him grabbing his hand. "Y/n watch the cake." She said walking to the bathroom with Travis.
I looked over at Summer who was already looking at me. "How'd you sleep?" I asked.
"Good," Summer said then shook her head smiling. "I love how sweet you are by the way."
I frowned. "What do you mean?"
"What you said to Vanessa about me, you want to respect me and that's a big turn on." She walked over to the oven and bent down checking the cake.
I quickly looked away. She just said the fact that I respect her is a turn on, let me not stare at her ass.
"We could definitely make it work Y/n, I was only hesitant about continuing our relationship because you were hesitant about your feelings," she walked up to me gripping my chin, "show me you really want me and I promise you Y/n, I'll make it worth your while." She whispered.
"How do I prove it?" I glanced down at her lips.
"Figure that out on your own." She smirked.
I think I just came.
"I actually like you, you know that right?" I asked.
"Well, I did hear everything you said from the bathroom." She nodded.
"So you know Vanessa rejected me again," she hummed. "I'm not, pursuing you just because she doesn't want me, I want that to be clear." I said.

She dropped her hand to my shoulder. "I get it Y/n, that's why I'm not instantly taking you back," she nodded. "When I see that you actually want me, there won't be any doubt or confusion."
I stared up at her. "Right, I'll get to work then," I snapped my fingers. "My birthday is June 12th, which is 4 months away, by then we'll be dating or married."
She giggled. "Damn Y/n, I just dumped you and your talking about marriage already?"
I shrugged. "I move fast."
"I bet," she ran her hand down my chest and started towards the stairs.
"That's it?" I called after her.
She paused and looked over her shoulder. "What did you expect?"
I shrugged. "Nothing."
"Mhm." She nodded and continued up the stairs.
Okay Y/n, you know who you want. Stop going back to Vanessa and focus on Summer. I was lucky enough to even have a chance with Summer, let alone a second one, let me not fuck this up.

"Guys I want to do something adventurous." Jasmine said laying back on the sand.
I quickly sat up. "I never thought you'd ask come on." I stood grabbing her hand and snatching her up.
"Ow bitch, you almost dislocated my shoulder." She smacked my arm.
I flinched. "Sorry I got excited."
"Y/n where are you taking my girlfriend?" Quincy asked tilting his sunglasses down.
"Don't worry about it." I said grabbing Jasmine's wrist.
"No, he should worry because your idea of adventurous," Vanessa said putting air quotes around adventurous. "For Jasmine might be feeding her to sharks."
I scoffed. "No, I'm going to tie her up to a cord and then push her over a cliff."
Summer's eyes widened. "See you trying to kill her."
"Do we have to fight Y/n?" Quincy asked sitting up.
"No," I quickly pulled Jasmine in front of me. "I meant zip-lining, me and her are going to zip line over this cliff I found."
"Who the hell words it like that?" Vanessa asked laughing.
I shrugged as Jasmine clapped. "Yes Dino, let's go zip lining." She grabbed my hand and started to pull me towards the door.
"Wait, I wanna see Y/n get hurt!" Vanessa yelled jumping up.
"Same." Summer followed.
"I just want food on the way." Quincy got up.
As we walked through the back door and into the house I stopped and yelled up the stairs. "Mom, I'm going zip lining on an unstable cord I found, bye love you."
"WHAT?!" My mom yelled from upstairs as we all walked outside to the car.
"Quincy, what does your fat ass want to eat?" I asked opening the door for Summer with a smile.
"Hm, let's get something exotic." He said climbing into the back with Vanessa and Jasmine.
"Thank you bébé." Summer said climbing into the car.
I walked around the car and got into the driver's seat. "Where the hell can we get exotic food?" I asked.
"It's this place that's 5 minutes away called ." He said.
Vanessa hummed. "Isn't Silk Road the name of a dark web browsing engine."
We went silent for a second then I shrugged and started up the car. "Well if it is shady, Quincy still gets his food and Jasmine will definitely get her adventure."
"Yeah, but we don't have to worry about danger because Thuggy Y/n is here, right?" She looked at me as I blushed and started out the driveway.
"Ew, Y/n your such a headass." Quincy groaned out as Jasmine and Vanessa laughed.
"Shut up I thought it was cute." I mumbled.
"Aw don't listen to him, it was so cute." Summer rubbed my arm.
I smiled. "Ha, Quincy your opinion doesn't matter."
"Whatever here, follow the damn GPS." Quincy said handing the phone up to the front.
Summer grabbed the phone and connected it to the radio. "Aw, someone's in their feelings." I teased.
"Someone's in their feelings," he mocked. "Shut the fuck up."
"Yes daddy I'll be as quiet as you want, just let me know when you want me to start screaming again." I said glancing at him through the rearview mirror.
Everyone burst into a fit of laughter. "He can't even make me scream don't lie Y/n" Jasmine laughed out.
"Oh shit Quincy they really gaining upon you." Vanessa said instigating.
"I hate all of you, don't try and apologize when I cry myself to sleep." He mumbled.
Summer laughed. "Damn I felt that."
I chuckled. "I know right he's such a mood."
-
"That was amazing." Vanessa said rubbing her stomach.
Me and Quincy quickly looked at each other before shouting. "That's what she said!"
Jasmine shook her head. "Immature asses."
"Do you guys think it was a good idea to eat before zip lining?" Summer asked.
"Um, probably not but we're being adventurous, right Jazzy?" I asked.
"Hell yeah." She said.
I looked at Summer. "See, if I throw up a lung, at least I did it with a full stomach."
"Technically if you throw up a lung you'll also be throwing up all of your food so you won't be full anymore." Vanessa said sipping her drink.
"Wow, thanks for that." I said sarcastically.
She nodded smiling. "Anytime."
I chuckled. "Are we ready to go?"
"Yeah, who's paying?" Quincy asked.
"I got it, this is my good deed for the day," I stood. "That means if you start to drown Jasmine I won't have to help."
She flipped me off as I dropped a fifty on the table. "Okay, let's go be adventurous guys."
Jasmine let out a whoop as everyone stood up. "Baby if you fall off the zip line make sure you land on Y/n." Quincy said throwing his arm over Jasmine's shoulder.
"Please don't, she weighs a little more than a whale which means I'll be paralyzed if she lands on me." I said looking at Jasmine.
"Wrong choice Y/n you better run." Summer said.
Jasmine clenched her jaw. "I'm about to beat your ass."
My eyes widened and I quickly ran out of the cafe hearing Jasmine's footsteps behind me. "Please don't hurt me, I'm sensitive!" I yelled.

Sometimes my voice dies in my throat, buries itself beneath waves of crippling suffocation, burns itself out as cold hands tear at my laced skin. I have smiled while my eyes have cried and pleaded, my wrists numb, my lips wobbling and blue, and stars escaping this dark night that I'm trapped in. I long for a darkness that gives way to light. But I do feel the warmth of petals gathering and scattering in my cold bones, and imagine the touch and the sweetness of a kiss, and my heart rises to the surface of this sea and finds a sky painted by passing artists remaining far above our heads. I'm breathing out all the words I've kept locked under the pages of my breaking mind. And by doing so, I'm going to heal.TRIGGER WARNINGS: depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal thoughts, OCD, panic attacks
