《Prince's Assassin Mate ✔》Chapter 49

The halo of the horizon arrives with golden grace. The sun shines brightly, warming the cold world. He awakens alone in his bed, and a sudden despair straps him. His impatient eyes searches for her, and when he notices the closet doors open and her walkout, a wave of reprieve washes over him. She was dressed in a simple sundress, her hair free and a smile on her face.
"Good morning." She greets
"Morning,"
"Freshen up and get dressed, let's have breakfast together. Just the two of us." She says with a smile, and he looks at her, befuddled, but says nothing, only smiles and gets out of bed.
Aiden emerged from the closet after a shower and change of clothes to find the room empty. He walked out of the room and followed her scent to the terrace. He stopped by the entrance and saw a large table set up. Seraphina was putting down the last plate of soft pancakes and berries, as warm as they would be in the sun, with maple syrup threaded on top. She smiled at him as he approached her. She motioned for him to sit, and she took the chair across from him.
"You prepared all these?" He was perplexed and inquired,
"I'm a terrible cook. So no, I did not." She chuckled.
"That's why I was wondering how you managed to make so much in such a short period of time."
They began eating discreetly, sharing glances now and then. Seraphina began to speak about halfway through.
"Aiden?"
"Yes?" Aiden raised his gaze from the plate to meet hers.
"Let's make a new beginning." He raised his brows in response to what she said.
"We got off to a shaky start. I lied, I hid, and I pushed you away. You hid, lied, and pushed me away whenever you felt like it. I won't lie that I have major trust issues, and I still don't trust you. Whenever I put my trust in someone, they backstabbed me. And I never learned to trust. But I am willing to. I wish to learn to trust you with my whole heart. I wish to learn to love. I wish to embrace the blessing of the Goddess. I want us to be together."
He abruptly stood up, pushing the chair behind him, and she followed suit. He was in front of her in two long strides. Uncertainty was written all over her face, and she looked and felt vulnerable. His hand snuck around her waist, drawing her closer to him, and her body slammed into his hard muscles. Her hands clutched his shirt as if her life depended on it. As a smile crept across his lips, his other hand softly curdled her face and his thumb softly caressed her cheekbones. She gulped down the lump in her throat as her lips parted and her eyes swept over his eyes. He tilted his head, and she closed her eyes in anticipation of what was to come. He pressed his lips against hers. Her lips were softer than anything he'd ever felt, as soft as the first snow, like cotton candy that dissolves in your tongue. They began slowly, with him taking small sips of her nectar, it was sweet, so sweet!

His lips sent shudders up her spine. While she was still in a haze, he kept kissing her rapidly. Her lips moved along his, on their own, and the innocent kiss became more ferocious and her hand firmly gripped his shoulders. He withdrew his hand from her neck, and they descended. He gripped her thighs with both hands and lifted her seamlessly, placing her on the terrace's edges while her hands wrapped around his neck. Her legs wrapped around his torso, and his hand gripped her thighs to keep her in place. He sucked and nibbled her lower lip as soft whimpers shuddered her chest. His warm tongue brushed over her lower lip, asking for entrance, but she refused, and a growl pulsed his chest as he squeezed her thighs a firm squeeze. She smiled and opened her mouth, allowing his tongue to explore every nook and cranny. In need of oxygen, they finally broke off the kiss. He pressed his lips against her forehead and drew back after a while.
"I promise to protect you with my life, my Moon. I promise to earn every ounce of your trust and replace every bad memory you have with love."
She saw the sincerity on his face, and a bright smile spread across hers. She gently grabbed his face with both of her hands and pecked his lips in a lingering kiss. She hugged him, her hands firmly clutching his shirt at the back, her head just a little above his beating heart. He sighed and clasped her flesh over his as if the moment would vanish if he let go.
"Alpha!" Liam walked in and his eyes widened when he saw the Alpha couple in such a sensual position. Aiden turned to face the voice and growled, his hands pulling down her dress, covering Seraphina's bare thighs. Liam bowed his head, his cheeks flushed.
"What is it?" He inquired
"His Majesty King Bruce and Her Majesty Queen Olivia have crossed the western border. They should arrive at the castle soon. The counselors have also arrived."
"Is there anything else?"
"Yes, the counselors are, erm how should I put this...they are being feral."
"That's nothing new." Aiden scowled,
"Aiden will be there in a moment," Seraphina said as she hopped down. Liam curtsied and walked away.
Aiden started getting dressed first, wearing a formal three-piece black suit with a white button-up shirt. His hair was slick back.
"You get dressed, and I'll be right back." He said, and she nodded, before kissing her on the cheek and walking away. He returned after a while and saw her walking out of the closet, putting on an earring. With a smile on his lips, he took in her appearance. Her outfit consisted of a pastel turquoise blazer, a black turtleneck top, and black straight-leg pants. Black stilettos and gold studs completed the look. Her hair was in its natural waves, side flipped. He moved closer to her, pulling her closer by her waist, he captured her lips in a lingering kiss.

"You look beautiful," he said as he stepped back and she smiled.
"Thank you, let's go?" She inquired as she began to walk towards the door.
"Seraphina?" Aiden yelled from behind her, and she turned around.
"Yes?"
"May I ask something from you?" He said this with a straight face, and she turned around to face him. She nodded and encouraged him to express himself. He sighed and moved closer to her, clasping her hands in his.
"I want you to stop hiding." She exhaled and raised her brows in bewilderment.
"Could you please do that for me?" He inquired, and she nodded, her face filled with uncertainty. He smiled and began walking out of the room with her hand in his. Masking, or altering one's true scent, is considered hiding in the supernatural world. A scent is thought to be a supernatural's unique identity. And one's rank is determined by the level of pheromones. Seraphina had always kept her scent hidden until now. By withdrawing her mask, she will be revealing her true identity. She has never given it a second thought until now. But now, he wanted her to let the world see who she really is. Something she's not certain about or eager to do.
"Welcome father," Aiden greeted his father with a slight bow. Aiden had been standing by the packhouse's main entrance, with Seraphina to his right and his Beta to his left a step behind him and the majority of the pack members were inside the hall waiting to greet the monarchs. The pack curtsied as soon as the dynasties had arrived.
"Mother," he gently grasped Queen Olivia's hand and kissed on the knuckles. The Queen smiled at her son,
"It's good to you my Prince." She greeted with a puffed chest and a big smile, and Aiden simply smiled. He turned to Seraphina and wrapped his hand around her waist, gently pushing her forward.
"This is my mate and Luna Princess Seraphina." The hall erupted in murmurs and Seraphina looked at him, with confused questioning eyes. A snarl of warning from Aiden quite down the hall and he simply smiled at her and returned his attention to his parents.
While the Queen was astounded but delighted, the King had judging eyes. Her attention was drawn to the slight scowl on his face. Nonetheless, she greeted the King with a bright smile,
"Your Majesty," but the scowl on the King's face deepened when she didn't curtsy, and instead with a nod of her head she stared right into his eyes. Feeling the feral runes of both the king and Seraphina, Queen Olivia attempted to capture her attention.
"I'm delighted you both found each other. You are stunning." She said as she drew Seraphina into a hug.
"Let's go, shall we?" With a solemn face, the King started walking into the packhouse towards the elevator. The Queen and the others followed him in.
On the fourth floor, the elevator doors pinged open, revealing Hilda standing patiently. Hilda's face lit up with a beautiful smile as she saw her mate walkout, Aiden and Seraphina close behind. Nicholas stood at the left with Hilda by his side while Aiden and Seraphina stood at the right. The dynasties exited the elevator, and Nicholas bowed.
"Your Majesties," Seraphina smiled as she saw Nicholas' proud smile as he introduced Hilda to the King and Queen.
"Your Highness?" She turned around when someone called her from behind. She frowned as she noticed a Drinealia soldier standing behind her with his head bowed.
"Yes?"
"His Majesty wishes to see you." The soldier informed and she nodded. The soldier turned around and waited for her to follow him.
"What happened?" Aiden asked
"Tėtis wishes to see me." She informed Aiden, who nodded and said,
"OK."
Seraphina followed the soldier as the rest of them made their way to the conference hall.
The soldier came to a halt in front of a door at the far end of the corridor and knocked. With his head bowed, he stepped aside and pushed open the door for her.
"This is absurd! How can they summon us all at such short notice and keep us waiting for so long?" A man roars, his features were enough for anyone to tell how old he was.
"It's not like there's a state of emergency of some sort. Nonetheless, they are making us wait." Another of the elderly men sitting in the conference hall's plush chair sneered.
"I had to miss Rusa's annual Gala to attend this."
"How could they manage a whole kingdom if their time management is this poor?" A man stood up and thrashed his hands on the desk.
"Lord Carlos!" When the voice boomed, their gazes were drawn to the doors.
"Is there any problem?"
"No, Your Majesty." He bowed his head, his wrinkled face creased with a dark scowl.
The remaining counselors stood up and bowed their heads. The monarchs, Prince Aiden and the Beta couple took their places. Lord Carlos stood up after they had sat down
"If I may, Your Majesty. Why are we here on such short notice?"
"Because I summoned you." As armed Drinealia soldiers marched into the conversation hall, the voice boomed. They marched around the room to their corresponding positions, securing the entire hall. Soon after, the King of Demons entered.
