!Trigger warning: Blood and violence!

Writers POV

After their encounter, they returned inside, and the rest of the dinner was quiet. Ariel was quiet from then, Aiden didn't question about the sudden change of behavior. They went to sleep after dinner and barely had any conversation. Ariel woke up the following morning on her side of the bed, alone. Aiden was nowhere to be found as she looked around the room. She stood up and dressed after taking a shower. A knock came on her door a few moments later. When she opened the door, one of their warriors stood there with another woman. The petite woman was dressed in maid uniform and carrying a platter of food. Her black hair was neatly pulled up in a bun, she had brown eyes, and her lips were slightly parted. She appeared nervous, and sweat was forming on her brow.

"That's your breakfast, Luna." He said, and the maid entered the room, the maid placed the food and left with a bow. The warrior, on the other hand, remained by the door.

"Where is your Alpha?" She inquired, and he looked at her.

"His Highness is currently attending a meeting. I was ordered to guard you." She nodded and inquired once more.

"When will he return?"

"Please forgive me, Luna, but I am unable to provide you with an appropriate response. Later, His Highness is scheduled to visit the far end of the pack border, thus I have no idea when he will return."

He didn't respond properly because m Aiden had already explained the reason for their visit. She suspects they aren't aware. She walked closer to the food and closed the door after a brief thank you. She shook with rage as she lifted the lid and saw the content in front of her eyes. On the platter was a raw rotting piece of human flesh, and on top of it was a blood-soaked letter. The lid had obscured the smell, and now the strong rotting odor hit her nose full force, making her cringe and cover her nose. She took the letter and slid the lid shut. She opened the letter and read it.

'Your dearest Mia, is with me, writhing in agonizing pain as I write to you. A piece of her flesh from her thigh is missing, which you can see in front of you. I hope you would love the piece of your dearest lady.'

Her jaw tightened as she clutched the letter.

'She's bleeding, though I'm not sure how because she's a vampire. Anyway, dear mutt, challenge accepted. I've heard your lover boy is going to visit the "far end of the pack" with a group of warriors and the Alpha. What a tragedy it would be if they were mysteriously slaughtered or went missing. Don't you agree? Now how about playing a game? You have thirty minutes, kill the mutts you grew up with and save your lover boy before they kill him and his dogs. Sounds good? And I'll get you soon myself, that's if your lover boy doesn't die today. The clock is ticking!"

She burst out laughing like a psychopath, a murderous dark look in her eyes.

"I'll be glad to finally get rid of those jerks." Her eyes darkened, and she crushed the paper in her hand.

"I'll fucking kill you." Her thoughts were racing around the possibility of never seeing Mia again, and how much she was being tortured. Her agonizing scream was ringing in her ear. She closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths to try to relax. She hurriedly went through her clothes, but she hadn't brought her any of her combat gears. After searching for a while she wore olive green skinny cargo pants, a black tee with a neck sleeve, black combat boots, and a leather jacket. She changed her hair to black and wore her hair up in a bun and covered her face with her neck sleeve. She tucked the dagger and left the pistol, which lacked a silencer and would draw a lot of attention which she didn't need.

She jumped out the window after surveying the surroundings. She hid her scent and dashed into the woods. She's assuming they dumped the bodies somewhere south of here. They have been using that place to dump dead bodies for centuries now. That soil is enchanted, the bodies rot and dissolve into the soil very quickly. That area was unclaimed for centuries so they didn't get caught and others couldn't find missing wolves and supernatural. But now after the Dawn Pack increased their pack land, they got caught. She climbed a tree and jumped through them without making a sound. Her nose soon picked up on a faint scent of him. Using her vampire strength she ran like a blur, her beasts were on high alert at the possibility of a threat to their mate and pushed her harder, allowing her a few ounces of their strength. She soon came across a small pack of wolves led by a massive black-furred lycan. Her beast perked up and peered through her eyes at the sight of his lycan. A group of compatibly smaller lycans trailed behind the lycan, moving at a slow pace. They appeared to be in no hurry, so she increased her speed and rushed south, leaving them behind. Her beast whimpered, but she knew she didn't have time to slow down. He may have sent assassins who are weaker and less skilled than her and Aiden, but they can easily take out the wolves and a few of their warriors. She can't take any chances because she doesn't know how many assassins he sent. She came to a halt when she noticed an opening in the distance. She sat with one knee on the tree branch and one hand on her other knee. She surveyed the surrounding, her eyes picking up everything, trying to locate anything suspicious. Every silhouette hidden in the branches of the massive trees was counted by her eyes. Prepared to ambush and annihilate any living being. Their eyes glowed red, and the raw stench of oozing animalistic antics filled the air. Newborn vampires!

"This is going to be fun," she thought

She positioned herself on the branch, taking the black gloves in her hand, after pinpointing the locations of every active assassin in the woods. After putting on the gloves, she gripped the dagger tightly in her hand and jumped to a nearby tree towards her first target. Hearing the shuffle, the assassin glanced in her direction but didn't pay much attention.

"Rookie mistakes," she chuckled

She was behind the assassin in a blur, slitting his throat before he could make a sound. She left the body on the thick tree branch and moved to her next target. One after another she was slitting the throats of the assassins that were hidden. Nobody could fight her, and no one could find her. She jumped to a different tree, this time behind a new assassin. When the assassin turned around, she slid the dagger across his throat, creating a deep cut. Enough to exterminate any supernatural species. If a cut was made on a sensitive organ, her dagger would be enough to kill anyone. She picked up the body and threw it against a tree branch. She moved on to the next target and made a quick slit on his abdomen, blood splashing all over her face, covering her eyes and mask. She jumped to the next tree, and the scent of blood filled the air, alerting everyone. She couldn't give a damn. Her eyes were cold as if killing people was her second nature. She moved like a blur through the thick woods. The assassins were now on high alert, trying to figure out her attacks, so she ran like the wind, killing one after the other in seconds. Twenty-five assassins were dead in a matter of minutes, lying on the tree branches. She, on the other hand, didn't even take a breath. She killed the last five people who remained quickly and quietly and stood straight in the tree branch. When she turned her head to look to her right, a hand appeared from behind her. She twisted the hand and slammed the body against the tree.

"Hello, sister." With a sinister grin on his face, he said. She took off her mask and wore a cold, neutral expression. Her eyes were bloodshot, a five o'clock shadow over her face making her look more deadly and lethal.

"I had a feeling something was missing," she said coldly. Meatpacker was dressed in their trademark black combat gear, with one sword against his left thigh, a few pistols in the belt garter, and two smaller swords against his back.

"But I'm glad you came, I wanted to kill you for a long time, you annoy every single particle of my being." she said, her grip on his throat tightening and his air pass being cut off. She chuckled darkly.

"Come on, don't say that. I once saved your life."

"Did I or did I not say I'd kill you the next time I see your face?" He choked for air as she tightened her grip on his neck. She felt the air shift behind her and turned around quickly, beheading the assassin with Meatpacker's sword. The head falls on the ground and the body on the branch, blood oozing from his body.

"Always so fucking predictable." She said through gritted teeth

"It was worth a try." She pressed the sword against his throat, putting a little pressure with each passing moment.

"So, Meatpacker, what's the deal with the missing wolves? Care to share?"

"Of course, I knew you would ask. Do you want the truth or the lie?"

"Hmm, let's see. Quick easy death or slow painful death?" She gave him options by tilting her head.

"I'll take the first option. You've left, and he's in need of blood. Simple and straightforward." He gave a nervous chuckle. She felt a burning pain in her lower abdomen and looked down to see that he had stabbed her with a dagger. She gave him a sinister grin as she looked at him, her eyes dark.

"Was worth a shot." She snatched his hand, severing it in half. He screamed as she broke his limbs one by one. She tore his head from his body and threw it in the bushes below. When she pulled out the dagger, her face scrunched up in pain. She pulled out the dagger and threw it away as the sound of approaching wolves reached her ears. She drew up her neck sleeve and followed them through the dense woods quietly. She stood on the last tree before the clear land as the pack approached the opening. When the pack of wolves and lycans reverted to human form, her gaze was drawn to his perfectly tanned naked body. His well-built biceps, defined toned chest, hard taut abs. She averted her gaze before her eyes could sink any lower. Inside, her beasts whimpered, and she rolled her eyes at them. Aiden felt a burning gaze bore holes in his body. He looked around the woods but couldn't find anything. A warrior handed him trousers, and everyone was now dressed sufficiently to conceal their naked glory.

Time passed as they investigated the enchanted soil and the traces of dead bodies. She stood far up in the tree, her gaze following his every move. He appeared to be a completely different person than she remembered him to be. His posture was stiff, his face was emotionless, his eyes were cold, and power surrounded him as he inquired and instructed the warriors. He is the polar opposite of how he is with her! Every time he was with her, he was warm, kind, and gentle. He always had a small smile on his lips. She hadn't seen his lips twist into a smile or his eyes flicker in the last few hours.

"Was he always this way with everyone? So cold and distant." She thought to herself. A dark shadow surrounded his face and presence. He looked like a heartless monster. Like how she felt when she looked at her reflection in the mirror. Maybe they're not so different. Maybe they are both tormented by events from their past. Maybe they are both shrouded in darkness and regarded as a cold monster. She was able to see people's emotions that they were attempting to hide. After spending her entire life at the devil's feet, she had mastered the ability to see right through people. When the sun went down and afternoon arrived, the pack was getting ready to leave. She moved, and a burning pain in her lower abdomen became evident. Her hand pressed over the dagger wound and when she looked at her hand, it was soaked in blood. She was bleeding the entire time she stood there, but she was too preoccupied to notice. Her brow furrowed in perplexity; she was supposed to be healing. Rater quickly noted that the wound was minor. But she had been bleeding for several hours now. She noticed everyone shifting as she heard bones breaking and readjusting. She ran back into the woods towards the manor, one hand pressing on her wound in an attempt to stop the further bleeding. The pack moved closer to the woods, and with a flick of her hand, the dead bodies of the assassins that were hanging over the branches fell right in front of the them. She didn't look back and continued on her way to the manor. Aiden and the other warriors came to a halt when they saw dead bodies fall right at their feet. He looked up and saw a silhouette for a split second before it disappeared without a trace.
