Chapter 4:

"Well, It's broken pretty badly. The bad news is since you didn't come and see me right away, your wolf has already started healing it and it isn't set properly." Alex cringed, I took that as a bad sign.

"What does that mean?"

"It means that he's going to have to re-break your ankle." Alex said with a nervous sigh.

"Are you serious?" The doctor nodded.

"It's either that, or you never run again. The bones shifted with how much you moved around. They aren't in the right place. Re-breaking it allows me time to set the bones where they should be and allow it to heal properly." He brought out a bone layout of the foot. "Your Talus," he pointed to the ankle bone. "Is shifted now, this will force you foot to be in a large amount of pain when you walk as a human, and even worse if you go as a wolf. I'm sorry, but having a limp Luna wouldn't send a good message to other packs, not even for one as strong as Silver Moon."

I nodded. This wasn't going to be fun at all, but if I had Alex by my side I could do it. I just couldn't think about the pain it would cause. The Doctor got a few instruments out and a boot for my foot and Alex called Jonah. When Jonah got there, Alex got up to leave. I started to panicked.

"Where are you going?" He stopped in the doorway.

"I'll lose control of my wolf and kill the doctor if I stay. Jonah's going to chain me to a tree outside, with silver that way I can't hurt him while he does his work."

"But....but....I need you here!" I yelped. Alex looked torn. He walked up to me and gave me a passionate kiss.

"I'm sorry, but I can't stay. I love you though and you'll be just fine. It's nothing you haven't done before." He tried to joke. I cringed. "You're a strong Alpha female. You can do this." I looked into his eyes and saw the love and truth they held. I knew I had to be strong for him.

"I love you." I kissed his lips trying to show him how I felt.

"I love you too."

Alex kissed my forehead one more time before exiting the room. The doctor nodded his head for me to lay down and he said calming words to me. When Jonah returned to the room he nodded his head to the doctor.

"He's tied up hard core. There shouldn't be any way he gets out of that and his sister's there with him along with four of my best fighters. We should be good." Jonah smiled at me. "He told me I had to come back in here to be with you. Some one had to hold your hand." I laughed. Jonah was the next best thing if I couldn't have my mate here with me.

The doctor nodded with a smile before he positioned Jonah so I couldn't see what he was doing by my foot. Jonah put a towel in my mouth to keep me from biting anything and he grasped my hand tightly. He repeated over and over how it was going to be all right and I would be okay until a sickening crack was heard and pain shot through my body. I could hear Alex howl outside when I whimpered and I felt my wolf want to go console her mate. The doctor set the bone and placed two metal plates on either side of my ankle and one on the bottom of my foot. After he wrapped the metal plates in place he put on a large, bulky black boot on my foot. Then he sighed and looked up at me with a smile.

"I think that should be okay." We heard shouting outside and the doors slammed open. A huge black wolf came barreling towards us, well towards the doctor.

"Shit!" Jonah muttered and change into his large grey wolf. They were about the same size, height wise, but there was a reason why Alex's pack was larger and more powerful than Jonah's. Alex's wolf had a lot more muscle than his was. Yes, they were both Alpha Males, but you could tell that Alex's wolf was much, much stronger. Jonah tackled Alex to the ground and tried to pin him but it wasn't going to happen.

"What happens if I shift right now?" I quickly asked the doctor.

"You run the risk of the bone shifting too. Then all of that would have been for nothing." He replied rather panicked.

"Ugh, get in that closet. It'll protect you a little bit."

Talk to him, make him calm down. My wolf calmly said into my head.

How do I do that genius?

Run you hand through his fur. He told me he'd always dreamed of his mate doing that.

Do you guys just talk about your fantasies when Alex and I aren't paying attention?

I trusted my wolf and calmly walked up to Jonah and Alex fighting. I took a deep breath before I laid my hand against Alex's wolf's fur. It was soft and smooth, it felt amazing. His 6 foot long 5 foot tall frame was huge. He barely fit in the human part of the hospital. You could tell he was an Alpha and a beautiful one at that.

The minute I touched his fur, Alex reacted. His head snapped to me and his wolf breathed in my scent. He growled possessively and warned everyone that I was his and no one was to hurt me. Then his gaze went down to the boot on my foot and he whimpered. Giving into his animal, his wolf licked the boot to show he was sorry I was hurt. It was a male's job to protect his mate and in the wolf's eyes right now, he had failed. He leaned into me, gently rubbing his head against my stomach and I smiled.

"I'm okay, I promise. It only hurt for a minute." He nodded. "You should change back, Alex. Some one has to take me home." He gave me a wolfish grin and leaned down nodding for me to climb onto his back. "Are you sure?" He nodded. I looked to the doctor for approval. He'd come out of hiding when Jonah gave the all clear. The doctor told me a few more instructions to take care of my leg and I moaned when he told me I'd be on bed rest for the next week. Dang it! After that I gripped Alex's fur and climbed onto his back. Jonah waved as Alex took off back to the house. I clung to his neck to keep from falling off and it looked like that just made him even happier. When we got into the house I turned around to let Alex run and get clothes on. When I felt hands on my waist and sparks through my body I laughed.

"Shall we start that bed rest then?" That turned my laugh into a groan.

"But babyyyyyy...."

"Don't 'but baby' me Baila. You are on strict bed rest for the next week. I don't care if you don't want to, that's what's going to happen."

"What about showers?"

"Well, we can A. take them together so I can hold you up." His eyes turned gold and my wolf was begging me to take him up on the offer.

Come on! Think of that hot body, water cascading down the abs I'm positive are under that shirt...

NO!

"Or Option B, you'll just have to take Baths." Ugh...I hated baths.

"But I hate baths."

"There's always the first option..."

"We'll see how I feel." He smirked before scooping me up and carrying me inside. My wolf was talking to me the whole way up to the room.

At least get him to mark us.

Why?

You know you want it Baila. I can feel your body craving it.

I don't know Saira. You think we're ready?

What about Seth?

He left us Baila. Now look, you have a amazing sweet Mate in front of you who loves you very much. For crying out loud he almost killed a doctor for you. His wolf is amazing and loves us, he is amazing and loves us. Look at Seth, he left us and insulted us. Is that what we want for a mate no. Artemis even said that sometimes 1st mates are asses. He's one of those asses. I mentally nodded. I could see her point.

You're right. It's time to take the next step.

Besides, if we wait too long, who knows what will happen.

"What's your wolf talking to you about?" Alex asked, breaking me out of conversation with my Saira.

"Hmm?"

"What is your wolf talking to you about?" We had arrived at the bedroom and Alex closed the door.

"The next steps."

"The next steps?"

"How do you feel about marking?" His eyes went wide and his smile was even wider.

"Quill and I have just been waiting on you and your wolf." I chuckled. Alex gently placed me on the bed with him beside me. He was propped up on my right. "Are you sure this is what you want? I don't want to rush you." I nodded.

"You are such a good mate."

With that I jumped on him, straddling his waist, and kissed him with all the passion I could muster. I pressed my tongue against his lips begging for entrance. After realizing what was happening he gladly complied and we made out for a solid ten minutes. After that his lips broke away and traveled across my jaw and to my ear. I moaned as he gently sucked and nibbled there, probably making the area really red and leaving love bites.

"Ugh, Alex..." I groaned.

I grabbed his shoulders, trying to convey the message to stop teasing me. He just chuckled against my skin and started to move down. Still, every time he moved he had to nip and suck the skin on my neck. It was going to be a mess in the morning, not that I cared. Finally, after an hour of teasing, he hit the spot where his mark would be. He pulled back one last time and looked into my eyes. He and his wolf were giving us one last chance to say stop but at the same time they were begging us not too. I could see all the love in the world in his eyes and I nodded. I was giving my consent for him to take me as his own. His mate.

With a smile his eyes turned black and canines elongated in my mate's mouth. He gently kissed and licked the spot where he was going to bite before shoving his teeth into the place where my shoulder and neck met. I yelped and whimpered as a burning pain shot from the bite through my torso but my whimpers soon turned to moans of pleasure as a soft warmth replaced the pain I'd felt. I was finally marked. Alex pulled his teeth out and licked the spot, cleaning all the traces of blood off my skin and the mark. Then he looked at me with a lopsided grin. I chuckled as I noticed his crimson, blood stained teeth. When he noticed my staring, He licked them so there were no traces.

"You know, you'll have to mark me in the next 24 hours too right?"

I giggled and nodded. I kissed him again and this time it was my turn to kiss down his neck and sink my canines in. He let out a groan but had a huge smile across his face. I pulled my teeth out and quietly licked the wound. The blood stopped immediately, and I looked at my perfect mate. He looked at my teeth and laughed.

"Baila, sweetie, lick your teeth." He chuckled out. I did as I was told and found out there was blood still on them. That was embarrassing.

I snuggled up to Alex's chest as he settled us both on the bed. Neither of us needed to say anything. We felt the happiness through the bond we now shared. However, his mind seemed worried and that concerned me.

"What is it?"

"hmm?" I got up to prop myself on my elbow.

"What are you worried about?"

"Worried?"

"I can feel it through our bond."

"I marked you." I completely got off the bed at that.

"And you regret that? Is that what you're trying to say?"

"NO! I will never regret marking you. It's just now that I did, your heat will start in two weeks. I don't know if you...we're ready for that step." He had gotten up to hug me to him. We stared out our window and looked at the moon.

"I forgot about that."

"I know I'm not going to be able to handle my wolf, Baila. He's going to want to take what's his. If silver didn't hold us back when you were in pain, I doubt it'll work when you smell like you will." I stood there for a couple minutes when a thought passed my mind. "Baila, say something."

"What about unmated wolves?"

"What?"

"When a girl in a pack near mine went into heat, she was raped. Her mate was the Alpha, and he wasn't around to save her. He ended up killing the wolf but the damage was already done. She was scarred for her whole existence."

I didn't want that to happen. I'd heard the story from her personally. Her mate kept her in a locked bedroom, no windows that would break or open. The only way in was through the door, with the key. That didn't stop a lusting wolf passing through though, he was even part of the pack. He broke the lock and did her. I almost threw up at the thought. That couldn't happen. I hadn't noticed I'd started shaking.

"Baila, Baila!" I shook my head and brought my focus back on Alex. "I swear, I won't leave you alone unprotected. Something we will have to think about though is, are we going to mate then or aren't we? I'm going to leave the decision up to you. If yes, then you'll stay with me the whole week, and we'll mate on your terms. If no, then you can just stay with my Beta and his sister. No one will hurt you there either, Jacob will just stay with me and the women will stay and take care of you." I nodded.

"Can I think about it?"

"Of course! Either way though, we should probably go back to my pack soon. No offense to Jonah, but I have the bigger, stronger pack. Plus, more of my warrior wolves are mated and rogues never happen. We're too big of a group, so they tend to fear us."

"Okay." I snuggled up to him. This whole mating thing had me on edge. I wanted to mate with Alex, it was my instinct. My human mind though kept going back to Seth. What if he was right? What if I was just useless because I had no sexual experience and that is what guys want in a girl. I looked at Alex and snuggled closer to him. There was no way he was that kind of a guy, right? It didn't take long for me to fall asleep out of exhaustion, but my mind was still reeling as I did.
