Ace POV

I hated leaving Seneca right now.

We're finally getting somewhere.

I'm beyond happy that she's opening up to me. I know it had to be so hard for her to tell me about her childhood. If her father was still around I promise you he wouldn't be alive for very much longer.

I'm still going to have a few people do some checking up to see if we can find him. I can have him disposed of without even letting Seneca find out. Scum like that don't deserve to share the earth with the rest of us.

Seneca was even about to open up to me about something else. I could tell it was important but I had to check on my pack.

One of my pack members mind linked "help, alpha please!"

My pack almost never directly mind links me. Usually they link my beta or my third in command and they pass the info along to me.

That's also why my pack needed their Luna. Many members in a pack are more comfortable linking the Luna because the alpha is more intimidating.

It seems like Seneca's starting to warm up to this whole thing. I know it's going to be a struggle figuring this whole divorce thing out. I don't think I've ever heard of someone meeting their mate and finding out they were already married. Dating someone, yes but not married.

It's going to be tough but so worth it. Once all of that's dealt with I'll have to introduce Seneca to the pack and have the Luna induction ceremony.

I know that our pack will love her. As much as Seneca hated her scars, werewolves see scars as kind of a sign of strength. Almost as to say look at what I've gone through and survived.

All of these thoughts were running through my head as I headed out the bedroom door and down the hallway. My beta met me at the bottom of the stairs waiting to give me more information on the situation.

"Alpha Ace, the rogues that attacked have been taken care of. The wolf that mind linked you was Betsy. She's the elderly woman that's lived out by the border for quite some time now. Her mate passed away so she lives out there all alone."

"I knew I should have never let the pack members move so close to the border." I growled a bit thinking back to the day I allowed it.

" I guess She heard noises outside and saw the rogues trying to break in one of her windows. She was scared so you were the first person she thought to link. Luckily, some of her neighboring wolves heard her scream and so they headed to the house and took care of them"

"How many were there!"

"I believe five male wolves, three were killed and two were captured."

"Okay, I'm going to head to Betsy's house now. I want to let her and her neighbors know that for the safety of the pack they will be relocating. Could you check on Seneca while I'm gone? She may be hungry."

"Yes, of course- you two were having a good ole time earlier huh?"

I growled at Derek "that's none of your business."

And with that I headed out the front door.

Once outside I called my third in command, Jeremiah. He runs the command at the local police station to make sure all werewolf activity stays under wraps and is also in charge of making sure the packs borders are patrolled at all times.

"Jeremiah, would you like to tell me how the hell 5 rogues made it past our borders tonight!"

"Sorry alpha, our patrols were all messed up because we had a slight issue down at the police station tonight."

"What human issue could possibly be more important than your packs safety Jeremiah?!"

"Uh, well a woman stopped in here today to place a missing persons alert out for your Uh..... mate."

Now, I was more pissed. I know it has to be her mother. She's a real piece of work too. Never cared about her well being growing up - now I guess she suddenly wants to be concerned.

"Well thank you for protecting your future Luna's whereabouts. What did you tell them."

"Apparently she told some of my men that her husband cheated on her and that's why she ran off. So we told her that seems like a legitimate reason to leave but that we would put out an alert. Did you know she had a husband ?"

"Yes" I growled out

"And make sure to meet that information stays under wraps. I would like to tell the pack in my own time."

"Of course Alpha."

Seneca's POV

I laid on the bed, staring at the ceiling waiting for Ace to return. I had considered trying to leave, to run again, and try to get home before he gets back.

But I think I'm really starting to feel something towards this man.

Something real. Like maybe that feeling I've had that something was missing was because of this mate bond.

Maybe my soul knew that something wasn't quite right, that my other half was out there waiting to be found.

Or maybe I'm losing my mind......

Either way, as soon as Ace returns I'm going to get him to take me to see May.

I don't think I can stand being away from my baby any longer. And the tears are returning again.

I'm so tired of crying.

But before the first year can fall down my face the door creaks and grabs my attention.

A man walked in that is almost as tall as Ace, he had more of a lean muscular build with dark features.

He headed towards the bed with a smile on his face as he set down a tray with two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on them.

"Sorry it's the only thing I know how to cook" he said with a smirk

"Oh that's fine, I'm starving. Plus I actually really like pb and js!"

"I don't think we've been able to formally meet yet, I'm Derek, Ace's beta."

"Nice to meet you Derek- your the one that yelled after me when I tried to run. You know you could have warned me that he bites !"

He chuckled

"Yeah a sorry about that. Honestly, I did try to stop him because I was worried that would be the outcome but he threw me right out of the way."

"He seems like he can have a pretty bad temper sometimes."

"I'm not going to lie, Ace can have a pretty bad temper. But nothing he has done to you so far has been out of anger towards you. He's been waiting for his mate for so long. And his need and love for you is why he's gotten a little out of hand a few times.

But as his best friend I can promise you that he would never actually hurt you. He wants so bad to protect you and have the same feelings returned. Ace has had it rough since his parents passed away.

Most alphas don't take over until they're 18 and even then still have the guidance from their parents.

Ace puts on a tough front but all he wants is to be loved, to feel like he has a family again.

I'm only telling you all this so that you really consider the idea of being with Ace. I already have my mate, so I know you're exactly what he needs to help him feel whole again."

"I think I might actually be warming up to the idea. There's just so many things that I need to talk to him about before I make a decision. But I also feel like no matter what I have to choose to stay because he'll never let me leave anyway."

"Oh no, you have a choice I promise you that.

Now that you've allowed him to show you the mate bond. If he really thought that you truly wanted to be away from him he would let you. He just wanted a chance and since you were married he didn't think you'd give him a try."

"Ace will be back any minute so I'm going to head downstairs to wait for him. Go ahead and eat and if you're really feeling a certain way just be honest with him. Ok?"

"Okay will do. Thanks again for the pb and js"

With that Derek headed out of the room and I could hear him head down the stairs.

A few minutes later, after I had finished my sandwiches, I heard the front door of the house open and close.

I feel like my body could feel Ace's presence in the house. I just couldn't wait any longer, I needed to tell him about May and see if maybe we could head to check on her tonight.

I made it out to the hallway and started walking in the direction of the stairs. I could hear voices downstairs and assumes it was Derek and Ace.

I starting slowly making my way down the stairs, still debating if it was an okay idea to talk about May. I just didn't want to put her in any danger.

I had reached about the middle of the staircase and could now hear the conversation that was going on between Ace and Derek.

Their voices echoed through the large foyer, I hate spying, but I couldn't help it when I heard my name.

"I was just up talking to Seneca about you."

"Yeah, I think she might finally be warming up to me Derek. Like maybe she's feeling the bond we have. I wasn't sure if she would because she's human."

"I'm glad about that, but you can tell she's still debating whether or not she's allowed to leave or if she's a prisoner."

"Of course she's not a prisoner, I just don't want her going back to that deadbeat of a husband. Have you ever heard of anyone finding their mate and that they're already married?"

"No, but I don't think that's why she wants to go back. I think she's just confused. I mean how could she want to go back to him after she saw him cheating?"

"I know, that's what I thought too."

"Well, good thing we at least set it up so she would catch him cheating- otherwise this could have taken a lot longer."

"True, I did come up with a pretty clutch plan that night."

He... he ..... what ?!

He planned for me to find Miles like that ?!

To give me the worst heartache I could think of?!

Why not just tell me? Instead he let me feel absolutely humiliated!

Maybe he even set the girl up to go find Miles.

Maybe he never even planned to cheat.

I don't know what's real anymore.

But I do know One thing - if Ace actually loved me he could never watch me go through that.

I'm out of here! I waisted no time - I tiptoed down the stairs and ran right out the front door.
