《beautiful dreamer - t. laurence》chapter twenty six

Dear Stella,
Beth is well again. I woke up and she wasn't in bed, and I feared for the worst. But I went downstairs, screaming and causing chaos as I usually do, and she was sat there with Marmee and Hannah, eating breakfast.
Oh Stella I was scared. I was so scared. Marmee smiled, and then she cried, and none of us have ever seen Marmee cry. Ever.
Please come home soon. I miss you.
-Jo
It seemed forever ago since Jo March sent her sister the letter of good news. Stella was overjoyed to hear the news, and immediately rushed home with Amy.
Stella woke up in a similar situation a few years later. She woke and Beth wasn't there. Stella had fallen asleep talking to her, and Stella didn't want to believe that her sister had also fallen asleep.
"Beth?" Stella whispered, tears in her eyes. But then she was quiet. And she sat up, made the bed quietly. She fluffed the pillows and straightened the blankets.
Then she descended the stairs. One by one. She counted the amount of seconds until she got to the bottom of the stairs. It must have been over a minute, but Stella wasn't sure. She lost count at twenty.
She crept into the living area, then through the kitchen, taking her time to set a book on the table that had fallen off.
"When you open your eyes, she'll be there." Stella said to herself, feeling to doorframe.
Stella opened her eyes.
"Stella, I love you!"
"You're the best sister ever, Beth, don't tell the others."
"Stella I'm scared."
"I will always be your sister."
"You're my bestest friend, Stels."
"Play something?"
"Sing to me Stella."
"Beautiful dreamer
Awake unto me
Beautiful dreamer,
Awake unto me" she sang quietly to herself, and then she opened the door.
Beth wasn't there.

Everyone gets annoyed by faeries that steal your socks, or swap your car for a carriage, or coat all your food with salt. Because things like that don't matter enough to hide. Everyone learns about Hitler, the darkest necromancer ever known, who singlehandedly waged war on the rest of the world, in school, and the other similar events in history. Because they were too large to hide. But for everything else, the veil hides the magic from the mundane. There might be an unlicenced werewolf working as your librarian. Maybe a dragon owns your local banking chain. Maybe the murder victim who was killed in a locked room WAS killed by an angry ghost. Or a shapeshifter. Or the elder Fae. Or a rogue Wizard. The solution? Everyone knows the answer to that too. The one thing every police department in the world has in common. The Wizard Division. The L.A.W.D. Generic Zombie survival Wuxia Cliche story
Same old same old. Zombies attack. Zombies Evolve. Humans evolve. Humans gain superpowers. No deep plot, no plot planned out at all actually. Writing it as I go and because I'm a sad boi trying to use stories as a form of escapism. Not going to proofread, not going to check for grammar or anything. Will definitely read like a machine-translated Chinese amateur web novel. Have a nice day. (The cover is from one punch man, no this is not a fanfic) (I don't actually plan/think anything in this will be too gory or "traumatizing" but since its a zombie survival story I thought I might as well add it, plus the fact that the MC does some pretty messed up stuff. He's the stereotype Wuxia villain so to speak, expect competently and not dumbed down to make the hero look smart.) I will add warnings in author notes before chapter starts if anything particularly "gory" or trigger events happen.
