"Goooooooooood Morning Manta Rays! It's yo boy Kim Hanbin here!" the telecom boomed silencing all the chatter made by the students. Everyone in the classroom took their assigned seats and attentively listened to the morning announcements. "I hope ya'll started your day with the finest orange juice and some Cheerios! Speaking of cheerios... here is Varsity Cheer Captain, Irene with a special message..."

There was shuffling heard as the mic was passed down. "Heeeeeey! Manta Rays!" Irene beamed in the mic. Jisoo looked over to Jennie and saw her putting her head down as the girl's ex talked excitedly over the box. "I'm Irene, President of SGA and in behalf of our committee we would like to share with ya'll that today starts PROM WEEK!"

That elicited mixed response in the room. Some people cheered enthusiastically and others groaned in agony.

"To all the seniors, this is your chance to show off and make the biggest and boldest gestures to your special someone for Prom. Members of the SGA will be around to witness these Promposals and blog about it in our school page. The most unique and extravagant Promposal will be documented in our Yearbook this year along with the title of Cutest Couple. I wish you all the best of luck and I hope they say yes. SEE YOU AT PROM!"

There was a slight pause and everyone started buzzing about prom. Jisoo nudged Jennie softly.

"Hey, you okay?" She whispered. Jennie nodded not bothering to lift her head up. "Don't worry if no one asks you, I'll take you to prom."

Once the announcements were back on Jisoo faced the front. She didn't notice her teammate's head shoot up at her past comment.

"Yeah, yeah. Prom... blah blah blah," some students snickered at the bitter tone of the speaker. "On other news, our Lady Mantas have been putting other schools to shame. Our fierce softball team swept their competition, the Jackals, off the charts last weekend and is going to states. The girls' volleyball team crushed their opponents last Friday with the help of our dynamic duo, The Kims..." People in their homeroom cheered while Jisoo and Jennie smiled bashfully. "Later that night, our own Nayeon pulled a hat trick on the pitch dedicating it to her special someone. I can't wait to see what she has in store for Prom Week."

Jennie quietly fumed at the thought of Nayeon taking her co-captain to Prom. Jisoo, however, sank down in her seat as she felt everyone's eyes on her. She hasn't told anyone about her and Nayeon's mutual understanding to break it off, not even Jennie. The school body still thinks that they are together.

Nayeon had begged Jisoo not to say anything just yet and asked if she could accompany her to the party last Friday. The girl had promised her teammates that she was going to bring Jisoo and she didn't want to disappoint them. Jisoo agreed and came to Nayeon's game then to the party with her but only as friends.

"Both soccer and volleyball have their last few games this week so come and support the girls slash boys for their SENIOR NIGHTTTT! Good luck Mantas and Happy Monday!"

The telecom died and the noise level of the room spiked up. Jennie twisted her body and turned to Jisoo.

"Jisoo, what did you mean 'that you'll go with me if no one asked me'... Aren't you asking Nayeon?" The brown-eyed girl raised an eyebrow.

"About that..." Jisoo chuckled nervously. "Her and I had this mutual understanding of remaining friends."

"Go on." Jennie pushed.

"Basically, we broke things off."

"So you guys aren't a thing anymore?" A hint of excitement evident in Jennie's tone making Jisoo confused.

"I'm glad you're excited to hear about my break up." She teased.

Jennie frowned. "Please, I was actually happy you found someone else to flirt with."

"You missed me consistently flirting with you." Jisoo scoffed.

"No, I didn't."

"Admit it."

"No."

The pale girl grinned widely and poked Jennie on the cheek. "Admit it!"

Jennie let out a small giggle and was about to give in but Lisa suddenly appeared next to the girls with a lop-sided smile. She turned her head and sent the Thai girl a questioning look.

"Hey, where have you been?" She queried. "You told me you were going to talk to Rosie then disappeared for like an hour. You missed morning announcements."

Jisoo snorted knowing what her teammates been up to. Both girls to turned to her. "Don't mind me." She leaned on her chair and encouraged them to go on. She kept Lisa and Rosé's secret to herself because respected her teammates decision. She didn't want to intervene and out them if they weren't ready.

"I was talking with Rosie!" Lisa defended.

"For an hour?" Jennie knitted her eyebrows together. "What could you guys have possibly been talking about for an hour?"

"Believe me, they probably did a lot more than talking..." Jisoo muttered to herself.

"Stuff..." Lisa replied vaguely.

"What kind of stuff?" Jennie kept asking.

Jisoo saw Lisa grow nervous at her co-captain's interrogation. As much as she loved seeing the tall girl squirm, she was a nice person. "Prom Week." She chimed. "And cut the questions, Jendeukie."

Jennie huffed and crossed her arms then glared at Lisa. "Fine. It's just that you have been going MIA (Missing In Action) these past couple of weeks. You probably don't think I notice but I do. Are you hiding something, Manoban?"

"N-no..." Lisa stammered glancing between Jisoo and Jennie.

"Ha you stuttered!" Jennie exclaimed, pointing at her teammate. "You are hiding something."

"Jendeukie... Chill. People are staring." Jisoo scolded the girl but Jennie didn't give, she squinted her eyes and sent daggers at Lisa.

The bell rang saving Lisa from her captain's wrath. She ran out of the room as quickly as she could, leaving Jennie in the dust.

"You shouldn't push her." Jisoo sang, slowly getting up from her seat.

"She's hiding something..." The brown-eyed girl said, a sly smile forming on her lips. "And I intend to find out."

"Meddling isn't the way, Jennie."

"Give me a break. It's the first Monday I actually enjoy being in this place."

Jisoo sighed in defeat. She didn't want to stand in the way of Jennie's twisted way of entertainment and happiness. She knew that the girl was a bit down from hearing Irene speak through the telecom and this little manhunt was the perfect distraction for her. And besides, Jennie was going to find out about Lisa and Rosé one way or another.

"Mind if I join you?"

-

"Jendeukie, we've been following Lisa all day now..." Jisoo whined as she trailed behind her teammate.

"Shush you! She's going to slip and we'll be there to catch it." Jennie replied sternly. She hid behind a locker and kept an eye on the girl leaning against the wall talking to one of the guys from the soccer team. She craned her head to Jisoo. "You think she's seeing that guy?"

"Doubt it." Jisoo smirked as she looked over Jennie's shoulder. She immediately recognized the guy Lisa was talking to. He was one of Nayeon's buddies that she had met at the party. "Hey that's Jinyoung!" She perked up before walking around Jennie over to the two.

The guy glanced at Jisoo direction and had to do a double take as he identified the girl. "Jisoo!" He cried out.

"Jinyoung, what's up dude?" Jisoo gave the guy a short hug then pulled away. "I didn't know you and Lisa were friends."

"We were talking about something." Jinyoung retorted with an impish grin. "Something dealing with Prom Week and a certain soccer player that you're currently dating."

Jisoo choked on her own saliva. "Nayeon?"

"Couple of the guys from the soccer team overheard the girls talking about her super big promposal." He hummed. "Pretty big I must say."

"Damn, Chu. Looks like your happy ending is on the way." Lisa teased.

"W-when... when is she planning on asking me?" Jisoo stumbled on her words. She was ecstatic but at the same time glum. She wanted to ask someone else. She turned her head to get a glimpse of Jennie, who was now preoccupied with her phone.

"SENIOR NIGHT!" Lisa squealed, clapping her hands together.

"Ours or hers?" Jisoo averted her attention back to the pair.

"Yours." Jinyoung confirmed.

"Wednesday night?"

"Yup."

"This going to be so good!" Lisa jumped up and down excitedly.

"It might beat out the other ones." Jinyoung said confidently.

"Great." Jisoo plastered on a fake smile while the other two talked more about the details.

-

Jennie threw her duffel bag over her shoulder and huffed. It was the end of the day, practice was over, and yet she wasn't able to uncover Lisa's dirty little secret.

"See this is why I hate Mondays! It sucks." She exhaled as her and Jisoo walked out the parking lot. "We went through the whole day following Lisa and found nothing! Not. A. Thing. I put effort."

Jisoo shook her head and chuckled lightly at the brown-eyed girl. "I told you to leave it."

Jennie snapped her head at Jisoo and growled. "You..."

"Don't you get mad at me! Remember, I played Sherlock Holmes with you today. WILLINGLY!" The pale girl pursed her lips together.

"Fine. You were somewhat useful."

"Excuse me." Jisoo scoffed. "I was hella useful!"

" 'til the point where you weren't!" Jennie reprimanded. "After your little talk with Lisa... you kinda spaced out the rest of the day."

It was true. All Jisoo could think about after hearing about Nayeon potentially asking her to prom on Wednesday was what she was going to say. There were still some feelings lingering, since their 'break up' was fairly recent, but Nayeon was the one who wanted space.

"What did you guys even talk about?" The brunette asked. Jisoo stopped walking and lifted her gaze towards her teammate. Jennie turned around and arched an eyebrow. "Jisoo?"

"There's-" Jisoo gulped. "There's a rumor going around that Nayeon is participating in Prom Week..." She locked eyes with the doe-eyed girl and sighed. "She's asking me to Prom."

"Oh." Was all that Jennie could say. She tightened her grip on the strap and swallowed the lump in her throat. "I- I thought you guys were done."

"That's what I thought too."

"Yet she's asking you to Prom." Jennie hissed bringing a hand to massage her temples. She was slightly disappointed at the news she just been informed with. Her mood had been up after Jisoo told her about the 'break up' but right now it seemed to crash down.

"I don't know, Jendeukie... this is all too new for me. I'm not sure what to feel." Jisoo groaned, she untied her ponytail and ran her hand through her dark hair.

"If she does, are you going to say yes?" Jennie asked in a small voice.

"Of course. Why wouldn't I?" The dark haired girl countered. "I mean I still like her and it's not like someone else is going to ask me..."

"What if someone else did?" Jennie challenged, determination written in her eyes.

"It depends on the 'someone else'."

"When did you say she was going to ask you?"

"The night of our last game."

"So senior night?"

Jisoo nodded shyly.

"Talk about extravagance." The shorter girl joked.

"It is Prom Week."

"You bet it is." Jennie clenched her jaw as she thought to herself. 'Game on, Nayeon.'

Flashback

Taeyang held the bouquet of roses in his hand as he peered into the packed gymnasium. It was senior night for volleyball and also Prom Week. He wanted to ask his long-term girlfriend, Hyorin the captain of the volleyball team, in the biggest way possible.

"You nervous?" A husky voice chimed from the back. He whipped his head and smiled at the girl behind him.

"You have no idea, kid." Taeyang laughed softly as he combed his hair back. "My palms are really sweaty and I'm not sure what's going to happen out there but I hope it'll be memorable."

"Just speak from the heart." Jisoo advised.

"I'm not very good with words..." The guy confessed before taking out a notecard from his back pocket. "And that's why I asked Jennie to help me out."

The brown-eyed girl cackled. "Jennie? She's good with words?"

"You bet." Taeyang bobbed his head.

"Yeah right." Jisoo mocked. "I've had deeper conversations with my dog than with her." A jolt of pain in the back of her head caused her to yelp. She brought a hand to soothe the throbbing.

"That's because all the words that comes out your mouth are pick up lines." Jennie appeared next to Jisoo.

"That's true." The pale girl shrugged her shoulders. Taeyang watched the two girls and smiled. He saw a spark.

"You know one day you two will find your special someones..." He trailed off. He set the flowers down on the ground and stepped forward. He grabbed both their heads and turned them to face at each other. "Oh look you found them."

Jennie's face contorted while Jisoo's glowed with excitement.

"Always knew it was you, Jendeukie." The older girl smirked.

"As if." Jennie rolled her eyes.

Taeyang chuckled quietly and picked up the roses. The crowd roared as the team came in and the seniors lined up by the corner. He straightened his posture and fixed his hair.

"How do I look?" He put on a suave expression and arched an eyebrow.

"Perfect." Jennie grinned.

Jisoo leaned closer to the guy and snatched the notecard from him.

"Hey!" Taeyang protested trying to get the piece of paper back in his possession.

"You don't need this." Jisoo crumpled it in her hand. "Speak from the heart."

"Alright..." He replied unsurely. He took a deep breath in and exhaled it out. "Here goes nothing."

Hyorin was called up next. The announcer gave a brief background about the senior and the college she will be attending for the upcoming semester. "Before the game begins, Hyorin, there is someone special that would like to say a few words to you..." Jennie gave Taeyang the 'go' signal and opened the door for him.

He strolled in the gym with his head held high and an award-winning smile. The mass of people in the stands erupted as Hyorin gasped and cupped her hands over her mouth. He walked over to his girlfriend and licked his lips. The announcer handed him a mic and scurried back.

"Hyorin." Taeyang presented through the microphone. "Hi."

"Hi." The captain squeaked and waved timidly at him.

"You're probably wondering why I'm standing in front of you, in front of thousands of people." He gestured to the filled gym. "Well, umm... I wanted to ask you a special question."

Taeyang turned to the crowd. "Four years ago before freshman year, I was sitting in my truck at the beach with my guitar in my lap and I saw her walk by with her friends. She and I made eye contact and it was game over. I didn't have the guts to come up and talk to her that day so I watched her go..."

"Two weeks later school started and I saw her down the halls. I guess fate played in my favor." A few people giggled. "This time I walked up to her and introduced myself. 'Hi, I'm Taeyang' And then she smiled. From then on, her and I were history or so I thought."

He glanced at Hyorin and continued. "Sophomore year was kinda a rough patch for you and I. We've been dating for a year then and things were doing great until my dad got sick. It was really hard for my family and I but you were there for me through all that time. I wasn't though. I made poor decisions and pushed you away. I was stupid."

Hyorin started tearing up.

"We ended up taking a break that summer. You told me that... If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, its yours forever. If it doesn't, then it was never meant to be. You and I are meant to be baby because here I am. Here we are."

Jisoo listened to every single word Taeyang said. She looked over to where Jennie sat with Irene and let the words repeat in her mind.

Taeyang took one of Hyorin's hands and wiped her tears away with the back of her hand. He smiled and knelt down. He gave the bouquet of roses to the girl and dug something out of his pocket. He pulled out a black velvety box and snapped it open, revealing a diamond-encrusted ring. Everyone's jaw dropped. "I know this is Prom Week and I'm suppose to ask you to go to Prom with me but I couldn't bear to think of what future hold for us. Hyorin, you're the one for me and I want you to go with me to all the dances, mixers, concerts and everything else that comes along for the rest of my life."

The volleyball player sniffled and couldn't stop the tears from running down her face. "You're my everything. Hyorin, will you marry me?"

Hyorin nodded frantically and pulled Taeyang up from his knees. She jumped on him and kissed him passionately. The audience went wild and screamed in excitement.

Jennie sauntered over to Jisoo, who was teary-eyed and pushed her lightly. "Did you see this coming?"

The dark haired girl quickly rubbed off her tears and cleared her throat. "No. Did you?"

"Yeah... Taeyang was head over heels for Hyorin. You could see it in his eyes." Jennie mumbled. "I love them so much."

"He has guts, let me tell you that." Jisoo praised. "I don't think I'll ever have that much courage to go out in front of all those people and say those things. I feel like an asshole for taking the notecard now."

Jennie threw her head back and laughed. "It's because you are."

Jisoo huffed and flicked Jennie on her nose. "Ow!" The doe-eyed girl complained.

"Serves you."

Jennie scrunched her nose and looked at Jisoo. "I'd probably do it."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah. To my special someone."

"Irene..."

"Maybe... but to whomever I do it to, just know that they'll be special because I don't do bold gestures."
