《Living With The Asshole》Chapter 36

The next morning I woke up with a groan as bright sunlight hit my eyes.

A smile soon made its way onto my face as I remembered yesterday. I chuckled as I remembered the food fight.

The smile, however, was soon wiped off my face when I remembered I had to go to school. I groaned.

"Well, you're not creepy at all," Aaron said and I looked up from my pillow to see him standing near the door, already dressed for school.

Damn him, why does he always have to look so good?

Crap, he'd just witnessed me smiling and groaning to myself. Way to go Ashley.

"Says the guy who's staring at an innocent little girl early in the morning."

"Is it wrong that I want to see my beautiful girlfriend?" he smiled, walking towards me.

My eyes widened and I felt my cheeks heat up."I, uh, uh.."

Fucking hell, say something!

He smirked at my reaction and leaned in closer so that his breath was fanning my face.

My heart thudded loudly in my chest.Holy crap, the things this boy makes me feel.

"Love the spongebob pajamas, Ashy."

Huh?

My eyes widened and my cheeks turned red when I looked down to see what I was wearing.

Not knowing what else to do, I grabbed a pillow from the bed and chucked it at him -which he effortlessly caught, might I add-before running into the bathroom. Well, that wasn't embarassing at all.

Frowning, I opened the door to my closet.

"Boo!"

I screamed and was almost about to trip when he caught my hand, steadying me. Then he burst out laughing.

"Asshole!" I spat at him before shoving his laughing ass out of my room.

"You're such a jerk, Aaron!" I exclaimed as I sat down for lunch that day.

"What'd he do now?" Cole asked, looking amused. He really liked it when Aaron did crazy things like this.

Aaron told him what he'd done and they both ended up cackling as Aaron imitated how I'd screamed.

That's it. I am so not talking to the jerk now.

"I'm going to the library," I scowled and got up to leave.

I had to look for Trent too, I'd been looking for him all morning . I'd even texted him a few times but he hadn't replied.

As I was going to the library, someone jogged up to me. Tyler.

It was then that I remembered he'd wanted to tell me something. "Hey, Ashley," he panted.

"Hi Tyler."

"How are you?" he asked.

Of all days, did he have to come up to me now? When I wasn't in a good mood?

"I'm fine," I replied."You?" I added, not wanting to seem rude.

"Good. Listen, can you, uh, meet me outside school before you go home today? There's something I needed to tell you."

"You can tell me right now," I pointed out.

"No, it's something, uh, personal."

Personal? Why would Tyler want to tell me something personal? I didn't even know him that well.

"Okay, I guess," I shrugged.

"Ashy?"

I looked to my left to see Aaron coming towards us."Who's your friend?" he asked with a frown when he saw Tyler.

He's not my friend I wanted to say , but considering Tyler was standing right there I couldn't exactly do that.

"Oh,this is Tyler. And this is Aaron-"

-"Her boyfriend," Aaron said with a tight smile.

Tyler looked shocked for a moment but he covered it up quickly."Great.I have to go," he said and without so much as a goodbye he walked off.

Then it struck me. He liked me.

I sighed.One more ruined friendship . Well, acquaintance-ship. I'm not sure that's even a word but whatever.

"What'd he want?" Aaron scowled at his retreating back before turning to me.

"He told me to meet him after school because he wanted to tell me something. But I guess now I know what it was so, looks like he won't be meeting me,"I said.

"If he bothers you again, just tell me.Okay?" he said.

"Of course," I said with a small smile. He was jealous.

Then I remembered I was mad at him."Oh, I'm sorry. I have to go to the library," I gave him a sarcastic smile.

He laughed."Aww, don't be mad," he cooed.

"What makes you think I'm mad?" I said sarcastically.

"Come on, Ashy. I'm sorry," he said softly, sticking out his lower lip cutely.

How could I stay mad at him?

"It's okay," I smiled.

He smiled back and flicked my nose.

"Oh, I almost forgot what I'd come to tell you. Trent came to the cafeteria and I know you're looking for him so come on," he said, and we went back to the cafeteria where Trent was talking to Cole.

"Trent! Where've you been? I was worried sick," I said, sitting down next to him.

"I just had to do... something," he said after a short pause.

I knew this "something" was about Kayla.

"How is she now?" I asked. I knew Trent must have filled Cole on what had happened.

"I talked to her mom. She said she needs a couple a days of rest. So, she'll be back to school on Wednesday."

I nodded, wondering if he wanted to get back together with her.But that was something I'd ask him when it was just the two of us.

The rest of the time we just chatted about random things before heading back to our own separate classes.

I had the next class with Elena.

I spotted her sitting at the back of the class, texting on her phone.

"Elena," I said as I sat down next to her.

"Hey,Ashley," she smiled.

"Didn't see you at lunch today," I stated.

"Yeah I had an assignment to work on, I got absolutely no time this weekend," she said.

"Oh, that reminds me. What assignment were you working on in the library that day?" I said, remembering having seen her and Cole kissing there the other day.

Her eyes widened and she realised what I was talking about.

"W-What are you talking about?" she blushed.

I laughed."It's okay.I know. Are you guys, like, a thing now?" I asked.

"I guess so," she shrugged."What about you and Aaron?" she asked excitedly.

I told her everything that had happened since that day. I'd not known her for a very long time, but I felt like I could trust her. In such a short period of time, she had become a good friend of mine.

"Awww, I'm so happy for you Ashley!" she squealed and gave me a hug.

I hugged her back."Me too, El."

Things were going well for now and I couldn't be happier.

"Ashley, listen!"

I ignored him, walking as fast as I could towards the car.

Just a little more Ashley, you can do this.

I walked faster.

"Ashley!" Tyler said loudly for the hundredth time. This time he caught up to me and grabbed my hand, making me stop.

I glared at him."What?"

"Just give me five minutes."

"Actually, I need to go," I said, glancing at his hand and he dropped it.

"Please just give me one chance?"

"Listen I really need to go-"

"Leave her alone, dude," Cole said from behind me.

"Man, I just want to talk to her,"Tyler said.

"Look Tyler, just drop it, okay? I have to go so please leave me alone."

Why wouldn't he just go away?

"But-"

"Back the fuck off. She said she's not interested so stop bothering her," Aaron spoke, walking towards me.

This made Tyler angry."I was just fucking talking to her."

What the hell! Who did he think he was, talking to Aaron like that?

"Can you stop being an asshole and stop all this?"

"But Ashley-"

"Leave!" I yelled at him, when I'd had enough of his shit.

He looked around, looking at the number of people who were staring at us and finally walked off.

God, he was annoying.

"You okay?" Aaron asked softly, looking at me with concern.

I nodded."Yeah."

He smiled at me reassuringly and I felt better.

"Guys, I gotta go. See you tomorrow," Cole stated and walked off.

I saw Elena in the distance and grinned. He thought I didn't know about them.

"What are you smiling at?" Aaron asked.

"Them," I pointed towards Cole and Elena who were now walking hand in hand towards Cole's car.

"Oh them," he chuckled, not looking surprised at all.

"You knew?"

He shrugged."Wasn't it obvious?"

"I guess..."

I guess I wasn't observant enough to notice.

"Let's get home, come on," he said, grabbing my hand as we walked towards the car.

That evening, Aaron and I were on the sofa on his room. He had his arm around my shoulder and my head was resting on his.

"I'll miss you so much," he whispered.

"I'll miss you too, you have no idea."

I pulled back a little to look at him.He looked at me intensely, it became impossible to look away.

He lifted his hand and ran it over my cheek gently.

I buried my head in his neck instead and hugged him.

He hugged me back, holding me close to him.

"Ashley?" he whispered.

"Yeah?" I replied.

He pulled me back gently so that my face was barely a few centimetres away from his, his breath fanning my lips.

"I-" he began but cut himself off by kissing me tenderly. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back.

After a while, we pulled away.

"What were you gonna say?" I whispered, leaning towards him so that our foreheads were touching.

"N-nothing."

Okay. Something was up for sure.

I pulled away , so that I could see him properly."Is everything okay?" I asked, worriedly.

"I.." he trailed off.

I nodded, urging him to go on.My heart thudded loudly against my chest. Was it so bad that he couldn't even tell me?

"I'm pregnant," he replied, looking hundred percent serious.

Needless to say, he had a lot of bruises the following day.
