《Living With The Asshole》Chapter 20

I slowly cracked my eyes open, and checked the time. As soon as I did though, I jumped out of the bed and ran to the bathroom . I was late.

As soon as I was done, I changed my clothes and grabbed my stuff, I ran down the stairs, very gracefully tripping down the last few steps.

Sighing, I got to my feet, gathering my things when I heard him laugh.

I grunted and was about to yell at him, but that would probably result in an argument, which could be very time consuming and considering we were already late, I decided to ignore it.

"Can we leave? "

"Leave?Where?" he looked at me in confusion.

I gave him an incredulous look."We have to get to school in " I paused to check the time on my phone."eight minutes, holy crap!"

Aaron stared at me for a few seconds before he burst out laughing.

He had issues.Like, serious issues.

"What the hell is wrong with you? "

He didn't answer, instead he just laughed harder.

I stared at him in disbelief

"It's Saturday, cupcake."

"What?" Istared at him in confusion for a few seconds before his words finally sunk in.

"It's no-Oh.Oh.Yeah it is," I said when I remembered it was actually Saturday.

He chuckled."You're cute. "

My eyes widened as I started blushing."Uh, y-yeah. Have you, uh,had breakfast?" I stuttered, trying to avert his attention from my blazing cheeks.

He chuckled at my dumb attempt to change the topic but answered me nevertheless. "No, I haven't."

"Let's go out to eat?" I asked, since I was already all dressed up.

"Yeah, sure. Just gimme a minute," he said.He ran upstairs only to return a minute later with his phone in his hand.

He took his sweet time to descend the stairs though and I took the opportunity to check him out. He was wearing a plain blue tee with blue jeans and yet, he managed to look gorgeous.

I held in a sigh as he stepped down the last stair.

He smirked knowingly as he walked towards me, making my heart beat just a tad faster.

"Let's go."

"Wait," I said, suddenly remembering something.

"What?" he raised an eyebrow.

"What about Amanda?" I asked glancing around to find her.

"She's meeting up with Jake for breakfast today."

I nodded slowly before heading outside with Aaron

"So where are we going?"I asked Aaron.

"I don't know," he shrugged.

"Actually, you know what? I know a place," his face suddenly lit up.

Some time later, we both got out of the car and I silently walked behind Aaron.

Ten minutes later, we were still walking and I was still clueless about where we were going.

"Will you tell me where we're going or not?"

He sighed."We're almost there."

We were walking in an almost isolated part of the city, and my curiosity was growing.

Aaron was walking ahead of me, and I was walking behind him, lost in my own thoughts when he suddenly stopped and I bumped into him.

"Can't stay away from me, can you?"

I gave him a sheepish look.

"You alright?"

"I, uh, yeah," I said, moving backwards, embarassed.

"Okay. Anyway, we're here," he said .

I looked up and saw a small store in front of us. I didn't take much notice until we were inside.

The place was beyond adorable. The walls were painted a lovely shade of blue and there were quotes written in white on them.

There were small shelves where cute little boxes of chocolates of different kinds were kept neatly.

I was officially in love with the place.

"Like it?" Aaron asked, and I remembered he was there too.

"I love it," I exclaimed as I stared at the place in amazement.

"Come on, let's sit down and order something."

Turned out, this place not only had the most amazing atmosphere, but also the most scrumptious food in the world.

To top it all, we finished with three truffles each but I ended up eating five-three of mine and two of Aaron's. Surprisingly enough, he didn't protest when I took his.

As I took another bite, I resisted the urge to moan out loud as the chocolaty goodness filled my mouth.

Aaron suddenly looked very amused and I realised that I had in fact moaned out loud.

I started blushing like crazy and quickly finished my truffles, choking myself in the process which only added to Aaron's amusement.

To say I felt guilty for eating such a lot of chocolate, would be a lie. I didn't.

We finally left and I got some of the chocolates to go. How had I never been there?

"That was amazing," I said to Aaron as we walked back.

He laughed."This is the fifth time you've said that in the past hour."

An hour later, I was still with Aaron. We were just walking around in a comfortable silence, occupied with our thoughts.

It was insane, how I was willingly hanging out with Aaron, not to mention tremendously enjoying it. A month ago if someone had told me this, I would've personally escorted them to the mental hospital but well now, it was the reality plus now I had a crush on him too.

We finally decided to go somewhere to have lunch and then head back home.

We stopped to get some sushi on the way, and it was finished by the time we got home.

I decided to go take a nap. All that eating and walking had sure made me tired.

I changed into something more comfortable and threw myself on the bed.

"Ashley, there's someone who wants to see you!" I heard Joanna say.

I groaned. Someone up there was definitely against me taking naps.

When I went downstairs, I saw Trent waiting for me.

"Hey, Trent," I smiled as I walked over to him.

"Hey."

"Are you okay?" I asked softly when he didn't pull away for sometime.

"Yeah," he sighed parting from me.

"What's t going on?" I said directly as we sat down.

"It's Kayla," he ran a hand through his hair.

"Kayla?" I frowned."What about her?"

"She's been constantly calling and texting me since yesterday."

I scowled. "What the hell does she want now?"

"I don't know," he shrugged and took his phone out of his pocket to show me he texts that she'd sent him.

Kayla : Trent, please talk to me.

Kayla : Please

Kayla : I really need to talk to you.

Kayla : I miss you . :(

Wow, guess she really did miss him.

I scrolled down to find twenty or more texts from her.

"Just block her," I said to Trent.

"Yeah,I'll do that. But what about school? She will definitely create a scene if I don't talk to her,Ash."

"Yeah, you're right but what else can we do?Just ignore her for now. Because if you do talk to her it will make her think it's easy to get away with what she did and that's just wrong."

He nodded."Yeah, I know."

The conversation shifted to other light hearted things and by the time Trent was about to leave, I could gladly say he was in a much better mood than he had came in.

Just as he was about to leave , Aaron came downstairs.

"Hey, man!" he said loudly making him turn around.

"Aaron,hi," Trent greeted him back.

"How's it going?" Aaron asked, glancing at me for a moment.

"All good, man."

They had a brief soccer related conversation before Trent left.

"He's still hung up over her, isn't he?"

I quietly nodded.

"What was she like?" he suddenly asked.

"What?" I tilted my head so I was facing him.

"Before, you know," he said, shrugging.

I knew what he was referring to.

"Well, for starters she was our best friend. She was sweet, funny and she was pretty popular. I mean, you've seen her, right? You should know why-she's well, very pretty."

He muttered something under his breath which I didn't catch.

"What?" I asked him.

"I said not more than you," he simply said.

"Oh," I said, not knowing what else to say as my face started burning.

He smiled."You know something?"

''What?" I asked, looking at my hands.

"You're the-"

"Hey guys!" Amanda said, and Aaron didn't get to finish his sentence.

I internally groaned. Aaron muttered something unintelligible under his breath again and rolled his eyes.

"Amanda,hi," I said.

"How are you? I feel like I haven't seen you in ages!" she exclaimed and gave me a short side hug.

"Well, you wouldn't have felt that way if you actually cared to see us," Aaron muttered quietly but thankfully, Amanda couldn't hear him because she was now in the kitchen, getting herself some juice from the fridge.

I nudged Aaron and gave him a look.

"So do I, Amanda," I replied truthfully.

"We need to hang out more. Anyway, I'm super tired right now so I'm just gonna go to my room. See you guys," she announced and went upstairs leaving Aaron and me looking at each other.

"Aaron, you shouldn't say things like that in front of her!"

"Why not?"

"Why not? Because she'll get upset!" I exclaimed.

"And I'm not upset?"he crossed his arms across his chest and leaned in closer to me.

"I know you miss her, and Aaron trust me I know you care about her but you need to understand that she isn't a little girl anymore!"

"Well, sue me for caring about the only real family I have!" he hissed.

I was a bit taken aback at his outburst but I didn't say anything.

He sighed."I'm sorry. It's just that I...Whatever, just let it be."

"Aaron it's okay to let your feelings out," I said softly.

He smiled sadly."I wish that was true", he paused."I'll see you later."
