《The Reality of it All (Completed)》Spreading the Word

I woke up to the sun shining through the window and my alarm going off. I was hungry again, I swear I could eat a cow.

I went downstairs and decided to make 2 grilled cheeses. I just hope it doesn't go anywhere else but to this baby.

Wait, but if it does, I'm gonna need some healthy stuff. I pulled out some grapes and oranges.

My mind raced back to yesterday. Mason rejecting me and Chad & Alex. Now that I think about it, they were really cool. They just came out of no where, trying to protect me from the harsh words that were coming out of Mason's mouth. Humans protect and support humans. I wish more of the world was like that.

I'm going to have to tell my mom pretty soon. I haven't talked to her in ages, I wonder how she's been. I haven't really talked to anyone in my family now that I think about it.

"You're up," Paige said, rubbing her eyes sleepily. I put the grill cheeses on a plate and the fruit on the side.

"Yeah, I'm starving," I muttered.

"Peanut is getting big, huh?" She asked looking at my stomach.

"Peanut?"

"My very own personal name for this baby," she said matter of factly. I rolled my eyes and opened the fridge. She always made nick names for everybody.

"I'm gonna tell my mom, today," I said, turning back around. The whole pregnancy was nerve wrecking. I mean, Mason is done with me and I'm basically alone in this. Family would be the only thing left.

"Well that sounds good. You haven't talked to you're Mom in a long time," she said sleepily.

I sat down at the counter and started eating my grilled cheese. Paige sat across from me, but she seemed fidgety.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

She hesitated.

"I went to see Mason yesterday, Spencer," she confessed. I continued eating my sandwich. I can't say the entire thing was a shocker, she was pretty aggressive.

"What happened?" I asked curiously.

"He tried to flirt with me as I was telling him off," she whispered. I stopped eating. The fact that Mason is ready to move on so quickly makes me angry. He knows I'm pregnant with his child and still chooses to leave me in the dust.

"I'm sorry, I really did want to tell you. I just didn't want the stress to get to you especially with this situation at hand. It'll affect you and the baby negatively," she explained.

"I understand," I said. I really did. I had so much stress already with work and handling this life in my belly right now. It made sense why she tried keeping it down.

At least she told me.

I lost my appetite and threw the other sandwich in the garbage. I put my dish in the sink and turned around, leaning on the counter.

"I'm done with the son of a bitch,"

•. •. •. •.

I was driving to my mom's house. I'm squeezing the wheel so hard, my knuckles are white. I hadn't talked to her in so long, who knows how she will take this. The news of a grandchild should be exciting, but ever since her divorce, she was bitter the last I saw her.

I approach her house in 20 minutes and walk up the porch. I ring the doorbell and wait for her to open. Suddenly, her brown head comes into view.

"Hi, Spencer!" She exclaimed, engulfing me in a hug. I accepted and hugged her back. This wasn't the attitude I expected, but I missed this place.

"Hi, Mom,"

We released each other and she ushered me into the house. I walked into the living room and sat down on a white sofa. Mom always did like simplicity, I should've seen this coming. Everything in the room was either white or grey.

"So, how have you been?" She chirped. I gave a small smile.

"Good- well I was doing good until two days ago," I muttered.

"What's happened?" She asked with concern in her eyes.

I hesitated before giving her a response.

"Ma, I'm pregnant," I whispered with tears swelling up in my eyes. Her eyes widened and suddenly a smile appeared.

"Honey, that's great news! Why are you crying?" She asked as she sat down next to me.

I explained to her the story with Mason and I and she listened. She was rubbing my shoulder and back as tears started falling freely.

"He will be there for this baby. We could always take him to court," she suggested. I shook my head no.

"I'm not taking him to court,"

"You need help with this baby, Spencer. You can't do this a-"

"I'm not taking him to court, Mom! I can't handle that right now. I'm stressed out as it is," I argued as I straightened myself up.

She stopped talking and stood up. I don't know why she was insisting on taking him to court.

"Fine, but I'm giving you a month to convince him. If he's not convinced, you're living with me. This baby will be a strain on you and Paige, guaranteed. Not to mention your career that your trying to start," she said.

"Fine,"

She was right about the whole thing. With me being fresh out of college there is no room for mistakes. If I want this career, I have to give my 100%.

"Can I see your belly?" She asked, smiling. I stood and lifted my tank top.

"Imagine what Lacey will say when she finds out your pregnant!" Mom exclaimed.

"She will flip out!" I replied.

Lacey was my older sister just by a year. Out of the two of us, she was always the perfect one. She's been married for a good year and she wants kids badly. Her husband says he isn't ready for them and I don't blame him. A lot of responsibility comes with a human life.

"There's barely anything there," I said. My stomach is usually really toned, except now it's a bit bloated from all the food I've eaten. Rest In Peace to my abs.

"It's okay, it's still early I'm assuming," she said as she rubbed my belly.

"Do you have some water?" I asked.

"Yeah, in the kitchen," she said. I pulled down my tank top and walked over to the kitchen. Taking a bottle from the fridge, I chugged the entire bottle down with mom watching me.

"Your appetite has increased, hasn't it?" She asked fondly. I rolled my eyes and turned around.

"Yes, it has. I have no idea where it goes, either!" I said.

I stayed at her house for a good 30 minutes more before deciding to go home. I was Starving, as usual, so I stopped at Jewel Osco to get some food for home.

I was standing in the junk food aisle when I smelled something amazing.

Turning around, I saw a guy carrying a bag of hot food. It smelled like Chinese food and it had me completely hypnotized.

I followed the guy down the aisle.

"Excuse me?" I said. He turned around and I met the most gorgeous pair of blue eyes. He had perfect jawlines and a pair of pink peachy lips. His hair was cut, perfectly shaping his face. He was an absolute dream.

"Yeah?" He asked. I lost my train of thought.

"Um- the food. Where did you uh get it?" I asked.

"From the Chinese place down the street. It's the last restaurant on the block," he explains. I was too busy eyeing his jaw line to hear a word that came out of his mouth.

I shook my head and looked down.

"I'm sorry, you're just hella good looking," I confessed. He smiled, showing off his pearly whites. He was absolutely model worthy. I bet he doesn't have a single bad selfie.

"Thanks, you're gorgeous Yourself," he complimented. I blushed and looked away. He started laughing and I swear I heard Angels singing.

"That was adorable," he said. I gave a small smile of embarrassment.

"Where did you say the food was from?" I asked, getting back on topic.

"Here, just take this," he said, holding the bag out in front of him.

"No way! You keep that!" I argued, taking a step back.

"No, it's okay. I didn't buy it for me, anyways. Just please take it," he said.

"You're sure?" I asked. He nodded and I grabbed the bag hesitantly.

"There aren't any drugs in the food, is there?" I asked, squinting my eyes. The air filled with his laugh once again and I eyed him the entire time.

"Right, because I drug hot chicks like you by using food as bait," he said sarcastically. I started laughing and blushing at the same time.

"You're smile is beautiful," he said. I felt my face get hot and a smile cut across his face.

Suddenly my phone started ringing. The caller ID read Paige.

"I'm sorry, just one second," I pleaded.

"Yeah, yeah," he said and put his hands in his pockets. I answered the phone and put it up to my ear.

"We.....accidentally....bedroom....I'm.."

"What?" I asked. Her phone was static.

"We....sex....bedroom...sorry.." She said again. I frowned and looked at my phone.

"I can't hear you!" I said as I turned to the guy waiting patiently in front of me. I mouthed sorry to him.

"WE ACCIDENTALLY HAD SEX IN YOUR BEDROOM AND IM SORRY!" She yelled into the phone.

My jaw dropped and my eyes bulged.

"No you didn't! You had sex in my bed?! You're lying!" I yelled.

"No I'm not and I'm extremely sorry, Spence," she said guiltily.

"You are dead, when I get back!" I said and hung up the phone.

"Wow, they had sex in your bed,"the guy said, with raised eyebrows. I let out a sigh and rubbed my neck in frustration.

"Yeah, I'm sorry, I have to go. Thanks a bunch for the food, though," I said.

"No problem. Just make sure she buys you another mattress!" He says as I back away.

"Trust me, I'm kicking her ass!" I responded and turned around, storming out of the store.

How could she have sex with Ryder in my bed? On accident??? What was she doing in my room in the first place?! She is so dead!

I get home in 5 minutes and unlock the door. Ryder and Paige were sitting down at the counter.

"WHAT THE HELL, RYDER!" I yelled as I stormed towards him. Paige got in between and Ryder backed away laughing.

"It was a prank, Spencer!" She yelled in my face. I frowned and pushed her off of me.

"Are you serious?!" I said as I put the Chinese food on the counter. Paige started laughing and I rolled my eyes angrily.

"Yeah, that was way better than expected," Ryder said.

"Except you ruined my chances with a hottie at the store!" I argued as I took out the Chinese food.

"WHAT? DETAILS!" Paige said excitedly. I explained to them what happened as I ate. Paige seemed intrigued as I described his facial features and Ryder rolled his eyes. Typical jealous boyfriend.

"OH MY GOD! I'm so sorry I ruined that!" She said apologetically. I shrugged.

"He wouldn't be interested if he knew I was pregnant," I muttered.

"Some guys don't care about that. If he likes you, he should like you for you," Ryder defended.

"Yeah, you never know Spence," Paige chimed.

"It's whatever. I told my mom and she's giving me a month to convince Mason. Otherwise, I have to go live with her," I said sadly.

"Why?" Ryder asked.

"Because she said the responsibility is too much to handle especially if I'm alone in it and trying to go after my career. Which is true," I said.

Ryder and Paige nodded slowly taking it in. Things were changing a bit to fast for my liking.
