awaking, matt's word's rang though my head.
tomorrow we will all wake up and realize this is all just a
only, when i found my eyes wondering, the plethora of bodies caught my eyes, acknowledging that they weren't all dead, but weren't alive either. "dammit." i stirred, sitting up from the concentrated flooring. "audrey?" i shook her lightly and watched as her eyelids peeled apart. "please tell me i'm out of this hell hole?" her head shook as her hands reached to rub away the crust around her eyes.
"no, if i'm still here, you're still here." my heart sank into my stomach, realizing this was the last day before we all die. and quite literally, it wouldn't matter as much if we hadn't of invited audrey. "and plus, what better of a way to die than with you?" she yawned as a smile painted across her plump lips.
"yeah.." i sigh, mentally face palming myself from the lack of answers. "hey so, i want to apologize." her eyes quickly found mine. they narrowed meaning she was confused. "i want to apologize for inviting you to this horrid convention."
"oh, cameron don't be sorry. honestly, i think dying here would be the best-the best... what's that word?"
"kind of murder?" i chuckled, pulling myself together again. my stitches were falling apart. "i couldn't agree more." she blushed for the first time i have seen in years. oh how beautiful the sight was. and hearing her say my name made butterflies swirl in my hungry stomach.
"ya, that's what i was heading for." she gushed, wiping away the redness that painted her carmel skin. "besides, i have no other people in the world who could bring me out of a panic attack like that."

"oh man, i barely remember that, how could-"
"i'm magical. spiritual. mystical." audrey seemed to be in a better mood than she has been in a while. i could even sense her depressed tone when she first came into the manor.
"and clueless." i whisper to myself. she hummed, asking me what i said without words. "oh nothing, just mumbling to myself." she bobbed her head, switching her attention to the other sleeping bodies around her.
"so, what do you think of matt? i know you two are friends and all, but what is your real outlook on him?" blinking too many times in a row, she caught me in a daze of thought.
"hello, space to cam." waving her hand in front of my face, i snapped back to gaze into her syrup colored eyes.
"i don't know. he's a legit guy now. got his life heading in the right direction. i just don't think... i think his head is still somewhat in the clouds though. even if he denies it over and over again." i explained, leaning back and intertwining my hands within each other. "he's a good friend, knows some good jokes-"
"but not boyfriend material." the tone in her voice made my heart strings pull. "i know what you're thinking, cam."
she knows what i'm thinking? she knows that i think her aura is made of poetry, roses and galaxies? she knows that i love her more and more each second we spend together?
"i know you think i'm silly for wanting him back again."
"well for sure i do." i bellowed but doing it as soft as i could go not wake the others. "damn audrey you sure have a pretty face but you sure are dumb sometimes!" scooting back from shock, her eyes widened and her mouth hung agape.

"what? i'm sorry, wanna run that by me again?"
"i didn't mean that." knowing my voice was barely audible, my throat choked me up so i couldn't even attempt to speak again.
"cam, i know i said to spill your thoughts, but there are some you should keep inside of that small head of yours." if she could, she would throw away the wall of beanbags around herself and storm out of the front door.
"audrey i didn't mean that. what i meant was that instead of listening to what your heart wants, listen to your head. because i know inside-"
"you don't know shit, cam. you're stuck in the past." now it was me in complete and utter shock. "i thought maybe this one time i could ask you about matt and not hear something horrible straight after."
"please just hear me out, audrey he has a facade up. i've talked to him, he just wants to take advantage of you and leave!" her syrup eyes began to water. knowing i was the reason, my eyes also began to water. "please."
"this shouldn't be our first priority, fitz." she growled, shoving her head between her knees that raised and pressed into her torso. back to my nickname it was. . the name that branded me. the name i'll always have.
"you're right." a quick and shaky breath flowed out, allowing me to lay fully on my back and to push the tears back. "i'm sorry."
-
"may i?" she questioned, slipping swaggers helmet over her head. "jesus, how do you breath in this thing?" her laugh filled the metal, causing us all to wince at it. "man, i have an idea." she stood and waltzed over to the door, using her last moments as the happiest ones... without me.
slamming the helmet against the handle, it seemed to only cause a dent to appear in swags headwear.
"dammit, woman!" he gulped, stunned by the compact she created. "shit... are you serious? those handles are stronger than any fucking iron in the world!" he tried busting it again, but found it only to affect his helmet.
"yoink!" mason squealed and pulled the iron hat onto his head. he stripped from his clothing, being left in his underwear only. "do you have games on your phone?" his hands became stiff in some weird positions as he practically crab walked over to me. "good morning, parental figure!" he croaked.
"good morning, problem child."

Travelers [DROPPED]
DROPPED. The story focuses less on dungeon building than on the why of dungeons and how they fit into the universal order. While I am working from a grand plot, the writing is going slice of life style because I need to do that to work out how things progress into that grand plot. The original story seed idea / synopsis is below. The Grand Tapestry protects Rhofhir from Primal Chaos by imposing Order via patterns. However, the patterns grow stiff, stagnant, and so the Tapestry is nearing a time of Unraveling. Evidence of past civilizations wiped out during previous Unravelings foreshadow the apocalyptic catastrophe looming over the world. The mages of the Arcane Asylum reach out across dimensions, searching for some way to prevent, or at least stall, the coming Unraveling. Among the many voices they find is a gifted graduate student researching machine-assisted telepathy -- and his gaming group. Lena never expected that the chance to play DnD with telepathy would result in her becoming an actual Dungeon Master, nor that her friends could become the bosses of her dungeon. This is, in many ways, her dream come true, but there's a catch: What happened to Brad, the creator of that telepathy machine?
