So... it's been a while. I have a real bad habit of doing this guys. Same excuses - work and school. Anyway loads have happened in the Thor universe since the last chapter including Jane as female Thor! Really curious as to how they're gonna incorporate that into the story so far. Hope you guys like this chapter. Lotsa love!

I usually enjoyed the morning air in Asgard. My morning routine consisted of reading out on the balcony, watching the city come to life gradually.
Things were different now. Things were quiet, sombre. Although Frigga's funeral was almost a week ago now, it feels like it could've been not but the day before. I let out a small sigh and turned, heading back through my room and towards the door. The corridors of the palace were less quiet, with soldiers patrolling almost every single corner. I heard rumours being passed around that the Asgard defences were down and we were lying exposed. I hoped it was just a rumour as a pit in my stomach sat almost anticipating the next deadly attack. I headed toward the dining hall when I bumped into Thor. I tried to stop him.
"Oh, Thor I was just about to come and find you."
He turned and looked at me. His normal grand demeanour and cheery smile had dampened, his eyes had become sunken and his shoulders were covered with a black cape. He gave a half-hearted smile.
"(Y/n)." He greeted. Grief had tinged his voice.
"We need to avenge your mother. We need to be ready to avenge her." I stepped forward to him and grabbed his arm. He almost flinched as I touched him, looking down at my hand and then at me. He reached up with his other hand and held mines gently, pulling it away but not letting go.
"I have spoken to father. He does not want me to go alone but wants to let the army deal with it."
"But why? I don't understand. We must go and find Malekith before-"
"I know. I know." He looked around, making sure no one else was in ear shot. "I have a plan. You must meet Sif and Jane in the west wing at 5 o'clock tonight, wear your armour. I can't say anything more than that."

He let go of my hand and left with a quick pace. I frowned and turned on my heel, racing as non-suspiciously as I could to get back to my room.
---
4:30. I had my armour on with my sword on my back. I left my room and began to head down toward the west wing, about a million thoughts running through my head. I was almost there, almost in a jog when I heard someone call out my name. I turned around. It was Hugo. Shit.
"(Y/n)? What are you doing?" He raised an eyebrow.
"I'm going out for training with Sif. I'm just trying to find her just now." I spat out quickly. "Why are you on duty in here?" He was wearing a guard's uniform.
"Well I'm sure you've heard about the defences being down. The army is doing guard shifts when not training. We have to be prepared for Malekith's next attack."
"Yeah. I guess. I need to go or Sif will get mad."
"Stay safe."
"I always do." I smiled and turned, hurrying down the corridor and turning left into the west wing.
My heart almost stopped beating.
"Hello darling." Loki smirked, his hair slicked back and his eyes gleaming with mischief once again. It was like being sent back in time. I slowly walked towards them.
"Thor? What's going on?" I asked him. "I thought I was meeting Sif and Jane." Loki scoffed.
"Don't look too happy to see me, love."
I looked at him confused. He gently reached out his hand and placed it against my arm, his thumb tracing up and down my skin.
"Loki is going to help us escape Asgard in exchange for his... early release shall we say." Loki and Thor shared a glance. I looked over at Jane, who was looking at me in disgust. Loki caught the exchange and chuckled.
"(Y/n)? This man killed hundreds of people." Jane said with a judgemental tone.
"This man saved my life." I spat back. "And saved me from your boyfriend. No offence Thor."
"None taken." He said in a monotone voice. I turned back to Loki.
"So I can touch you again?" I said quietly to him. He smiled softly, his mischievous nature breaking quickly.

"Save it for tonight." He smirked. Just like that, he hid himself just as fast. I blushed and shook my head at him and turned to Sif.
"What is the plan then?"
"We're going to break out of Asgard and kill Malekith before he can return to Asgard with his army, and we're taking what he so badly wants with us - the aether." She nodded over at Jane. I frowned.
"How is that even going to work without-"
"Heimdall is helping us for the greater good." Thor interrupted. I nodded in understanding.
There was a sudden rumble of footsteps coming down the corridor. Thor immediately took Jane by the shoulders and stood in front of her. My hand crept behind my back as I got ready to draw my sword. Sif looked at Thor.
"You take her. I'll hold them off."
"Thank you." Thor nodded and looked at us. "Come on. We gotta go."
I turned around and nodded at Sif. She nodded back. I smiled, and Loki took my hand and pulled me away. We soon approached Volstagg standing by one of the crashed enemy ships. We all boarded, Loki being slightly held back as he was threatened by Volstagg. I turned around and saw him with his hand on Loki's chest. I coughed slightly and both of them turned to look at me. Volstagg dropped his hand and gestured at Loki to follow me. Loki smirked and turned to me once more, sending me a wink. Not the place, or the time.
Thor and Loki took the reins at the helm of the ship, Thor frustratingly hitting buttons whilst Loki made fun of him. I couldn't help but smile as I watched them. Soon we were in the air, and the two brothers continued to have a childlike back and forth argument. We avoided Asgardian ships as we flew over the city. Loki was going off at Thor when suddenly he was pushed out of the ship. I gasped and looked at Thor.
"Follow him. Trust me." I bit my lip and ran toward the open door, leaping out. My stomach felt like it was in my mouth but I saw my destination - a ship with Loki lying on his arse and Fandral. I landed and helped Loki up.
"You ok?"
"Yes."
I glanced at Fandral who for once wasn't trying to hit on me. Thor and Jane soon followed. We avoided the gunfire up until the last second before the bifrost sent us into another realm. We were thrown about but apart from that it could've been worse. I looked over at Jane who seemed a little more in shock.
"Jane, you good?"
"Think so." She gasped. "You guys do this all the time?"
"Never, actually." I laughed, although still feeling some spite toward her for the comment earlier.
---
I decided to get some rest after suddenly escaping my home and become a criminal on the run. Jane and I slept at the bottom of the ship as it glided across the barren landscape. It didn't last long however as I was awoken to shouting. I sat up and looked around, seeing Thor with Loki in a chokehold. I didn't say anything, I couldn't really find the words seeing as the two men were in mourning and the conflict between them was much greater than brotherly love.
"She wouldn't want us to fight." Thor admitted finally, tears in his eyes. There was a slight pause.
"Well she wouldn't really be shocked would she." Loki replied. I got up and they turned around to look at me. I gestured at Thor to be with Jane. He took the hint and sat next to her. I walked over to Loki.
"So when were you gonna tell me you were scheming to escape Asgard?"
"I didn't know until this morning." He admitted.
"I thought you were gonna behave and get out the good way."
"Let's be honest (y/n). Odin may call himself my father but the hate that runs through his veins for me will keep him from ever properly releasing me, especially now that mother's gone."
I sighed.
"I guess."
"Once this is done. I will be free. We will be free. Sigyn." He half smiled. "Although I much prefer (y/n)."
