《King's Corp》Chapter 7

"61 Winston Road," Taehyung calls out towards the driver as they continue their drive amidst the cumulating snow storm. "I'm sure you know the place."
The driver looks into the rear-view mirror, meeting eyes with Taehyung's dark gaze and lifting a questioning brow. "Uhh, in this weather?" He asks, sounding uncertain.
"Don't question what I do, just drive," Taehyung demands in his usual rude fashion. The driver suppresses a scowl and nods at the man.
Taehyung takes another glance over at Jungkook who is now deep asleep on his shoulder, his breaths coming out in gentle puffs from his rounded plum lips. Taehyung snickers at the boy, finding it amusing how easily he fell asleep despite his earlier reluctance.
Time passes by with Taehyung exchanging glances between Jungkook and his phone. The car finally rolls to a stop near a narrow road clustered with bustling shops. Taehyung perks up his head and hums in approval upon seeing his desired destination.
The driver looks over at him and gives him a hesitant smile. "We're here, sir."
Taehyung nods, "I know."
Without hesitation, Taehyung shakes Jungkook awake, causing the smaller to jolt up and look around confused. "H-Huh?"
"Wake up," Taehyung says bluntly, once again adopting that cold tone of his.
"O-Oh, I'm sorry," Jungkook squeaks, not exactly sure what he is apologising for.
Taehyung dismisses his blabbering and then points to the door. "Let's go."
Jungkook looks outside and frowns, "Where are we?" He asks while looking out the window in curiosity.
And once again he's met with Taehyung's blunt response. "Get out and see."
Jungkook nods and thanks the driver before stepping out of the car. Upon setting foot on the slippery gravel, he feels like he's been whiplashed as his disorientated state is met with the cold slap of ice crystals that swarm his face.
"I think we're in the middle of a snow storm," Jungkook states loudly over the whistling screams of the wind as he looks around at the now deserted streets.
"No shit," Taehyung states calmly before striding ahead. Jungkook stumbles after him, wondering where on earth they are going.
"Where are we..."
"We're here," Taehyung says, a hint of pride in his voice as he stands in front of a shop.
"An ice cream parlour?" Jungkook asks confusedly.
Taehyung hums before stepping into the shop. The shopkeeper looks over at the two men with a wide smile, excited to see his first customers of this freezing cold day.
"What are we doing here?' Jungkook questions while looking around at the shop decorated in pastel pink and bright yellow.
"Breeding cattle," Taehyung replies sarcastically. He then rolls his eyes and turns to look at Jungkook. "We're getting ice cream, what else?"
Jungkook stares at him in shock. "But sir, it's negative 10 degrees."
"And?" the older asks as he approaches the array of the vibrantly coloured frozen desserts.
Jungkook frowns before shrugging lightly to himself. He walks up beside Taehyung and awkwardly stands next to him as he watches the man scan over the dozens of flavours resting on display.
"What would you like, sir?" The man at the counter asks, a grin still stretched across his features.
Taehyung hums in thought before turning his head to look back at Jungkook. "What do you want?" Taehyung asks, his voice almost demanding.
"H-Huh?" Jungkook splutters out. "I don't want anything, it's fi..."

"I said what do you want, not would you like anything." Taehyung comments firmly, his voice intimidating the younger into submissively bowing his head.
Jungkook peeks over at the wide range of ice creams and then shyly looks up at Taehyung. "Can I please have the mint choc chip," he asks, almost child-like, as he points to the said ice cream flavour resting in all its glory behind the glass incasement.
"Disgusting," Taehyung remarks as his face contorts into a disgusted expression. "We'll have one mint choc chip and one plain vanilla," Taehyung states to the man who happily writes down his order.
"Cup or cone, sir?" The man asks.
Taehyung looks over at Jungkook, prompting the boy to answer. "Cone please."
"Mine in a cup and his in a cone," Taehyung says while pulling out his credit card, causing both the cashier and Jungkook to widen their eyes upon seeing its colour. A black card.
So Taehyung is RICH rich. But then again, he is the CEO one of the biggest companies in the world, should Jungkook even be surprised?
Soon, the cashier hands the ice creams to the two men, Jungkook responding with a smile and a "thank you" while Taehyung just nods in acknowledgment. Taehyung strolls towards the pink leather seats that are aligned with the window and takes a seat in one. It's almost comical seeing the contrast between the dark brooding man and the pink bubblegum seats. Jungkook follows suit and awkwardly takes the seat opposite Taehyung.
Jungkook looks over at Taehyung who contentedly eats away at his ice cream and slightly frowns at the sight. "Um... sir," Jungkook calls out hesitantly, his curiosity eating him alive. Taehyung looks up at him, his eyes bored but attentive.
"Can I ask you a question?" Jungkook asks. Taehyung hums in response and leans back in his chair.
"Out of all the ice cream flavours they have, why did you choose the most -um- plain one?" Jungkook asks hesitantly, fearing that he might get blasted for asking such a simple question.
Taehyung scoffs, almost making Jungkook flinch. "It's not plain. And it's better than that frozen toothpaste of yours."
Jungkook almost gasps in offence but manages to keep his composure. "I guess you need a mature palate to enjoy this," Jungkook states dead-seriously.
Taehyung leans over with a raised brow. "Are you calling my palate immature?"
Jungkook looks away almost childishly. "No..." he states slowly, realising that he can't exactly insult Taehyung because OH YEAH HE'S HIS BOSS. Which brings another question into his head. Why the hell is he here, in this freezing cold temperature eating ice cream with said boss? A.K.A the man that could fire him with one wrong move. The thought brings Jungkook back into reality and he subconsciously straightens his posture.
Maybe this is some sort of test? Maybe he's testing my behaviour in public places.
With this, Jungkook clears his throat, attempting to act professional. He keeps his figure straight as he takes cautious licks out of his ice cream. Taehyung, who sits slacked back in his chair, quirks his eyebrows and gives Jungkook a questioning look.
"What?" Taehyung asks, questioning Jungkook's sudden change in attitude.
"Nothing, sir," the younger replies with a smile. Taehyung eyes the boy's rigid form for a second longer, displaying his obvious judgement but then the ringing of his phone cuts his scrutiny short.
Taehyung places his cup down and picks up the device, turning to face the window as he mumbles a "hello?"

With Taehyung's critical gaze no longer on him, Jungkook lets out a sigh of relief and slightly slumps in his chair, opting to quickly nibble away at his ice cream before having to face the man's stare once again.
"Oh... well I guess we can wait a few hours?" Taehyung replies to the person on the phone. He mumbles a few more things before ending the call and putting the device back in his pocket.
"The storms too heavy and the streets have been blocked with snow. The driver called in saying that we won't be able to go anywhere till they clear some of the snow. Might take a few hours. We'll just have to wait here," Taehyung saying nonchalantly.
Jungkook looks up in concern. "But sir... you have another corporate meeting today. Mr Laker flew in from Brooklyn yesterday just to attend. It-It might look bad if you're late."
Taehyung's eyes slightly pop open. He taps his hand on the desk as he scrunches his face in thought. "How long till the meeting?" He asks, eyes boring into Jungkook's.
The younger gulps, noticing the sudden irritation in his bosses features. He quickly pulls out a file from his briefcase and scans it before looking back at the man. "Roughly two hours, Sir."
Taehyung groans and runs a palm down his face. "What the fuck am I supposed to do now? The snow won't be cleared for at least 3 hours."
The two men ponder for a while, their ice creams, long forgotten, now starts to slowly melt despite the freezing weather.
"H-How about we walk there?" Jungkook suggests after a few moments of thinking.
Taehyung gives him an incredulous look. "Are you stupid?! In this weather?"
Jungkook frowns. "Well there's no other way to get there in time and according to the map, the company is only a 30 minute walk from here."
"Yeah, a thirty minute walk and a possible case of hypothermia. Great idea!" Taehyung replies sarcastically, a hint of annoyance in his tone. "There is no way we are walking."
~
"It's fucking cold!" Taehyung groans as the two finely suited men walk along the snowy sidewalk.
After spending another 15 minutes trying to come up with a way to attend the meeting on time, Taehyung had finally succumbed to Jungkook's suggestion and now the two men were battling against the harsh snow storm as they walked to their company.
And It seems the snow has unleashed yet another side to Kim Taehyung that left Jungkook in wonder. Taehyung right now could be described as almost, well...childish. The once professional man is now ranting like a five-year-old and swearing like a sailor lost at sea, so unlike his usually calm exterior.
"Why the fuck are you walking so fast," Taehyung growls, causing Jungkook to look at him with a surprised expression.
Sir I-"
"Just shut up, god. You're so annoying," the man snaps, acting like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum. Jungkook nods and does exactly as he's told. He closes his mouth and continues to walk forward in the freezing cold weather.
"I'm gonna catch a fucking cold," Taehyung grumbles after they walk in silence for a few minutes . The older rubs his hands over his coat, hoping to warm himself up a bit. "This is all your fault! Why would you even suggest such a stupid thing!?"
Jungkook remains quiet while he slowly walks forward against the harsh snow blitz.
"Are you ignoring me?!" Taehyung growls, getting even more irritated. Jungkook once again doesn't reply but slows down his pace. Taehyung suddenly pulls the boy back to face him, preparing to yell at him but stops in his tracks upon seeing the younger's awfully pale features.
"Jesus," Taehyung breathes as Jungkook looks up at him with his red rimmed eyes and sickeningly white skin. Taehyung stares at the boy for a second longer before rolling his eyes. "You're a big baby, you know," he states ironically. "Can't even handle a little frosty breeze." Taehyung continues to insult Jungkook as he pulls off his own scarf. Jungkook is taken aback when Taehyung wraps his scarf around his neck, the man paying no heed to the younger's surprised stare. The older tightens the scarf around the boy's neck, letting the thick wooly fabric engulf his small face.
"You're stupid for suggesting this," Taehyung continues scolding his worker as he pulls away.
"S-Sir?" Jungkook finally whispers out, confused by his boss' actions.
Taehyung looks up wordlessly and meets the boy eyes, letting his lightless orbs clash with the other's warm pools of honey.
"Stop stuttering," he says after a moment before striding off.
~
Taehyung rushes into the office room, Jungkook hot on his trail and the first this he does is turn on the heater. He cranks up the settings so that the room is getting blasted by a wave of heat and then exhales a contended sigh of pleasure upon feeling the radiant heat tingle against his skin.
He sinks into his chair and turns to face Jungkook who stands in front of the heating vent like a child.
"Bunny?" he calls out, voice sounding rather hoarse now.
Jungkook jolts his head up and twists his body to face his boss, still somewhat taken aback by the peculiar nickname.
"Yes, sir? Would you like me to get you anything?"
Taehyung shakes his head and then leans back in his chair. He opens his mouth to speak but then pauses mid-way as he continues to stare at Jungkook's face. The sight of the boy's rosy pink cheeks squished in the big grey scarf causes the corners of the man's normally rigid lips to slightly quirk up. Jungkook furrows his eyebrows in question, "sir?" he calls out.
Taehyung looks away from the boy and spins his chair to face the glass, his eyes glancing over the scenic view of the frostbitten skyscrapers. "Did I inform you yet of the gala we are attending tomorrow?"
Jungkook widens his eyes slightly and then tilts his head in question. "Oh... no, I wasn't informed. We're...we're going to a Gala?"
"It's called Le Gala de la fête du roi," Taehyung says while rumbling through his desk drawer for a cigarette.
Jungkook blinks at the foreign language, feeling like a toddler being taught how to speak for the first time. "That sounds... fancy," he finally says.
Taehyung blows out a puff of smoke and lets out a deep chuckle. "Sure. It's held by a French host. Its basically a place for all the snobby businessmen and women to come and showoff all their money and new achievements."
"Oh..." Jungkook trails off, imagining a room full of uptight men and women wearing the richest of formal wear and flexing their luxuries to one another. "Do I have to prepare anything for it? Any power points, documents?" Jungkook asks almost instinctively.
Taehyung shakes his head, "It's not a meeting, it's just a formal event. You don't have to prepare anything but yourself. But wear something decent."
Jungkook looks down at himself, feeling self conscious. His wardrobe is very limited when it comes to anything 'decent' and even finding a few good suits to wear to work is a hassle.
"Okay..." he says awkwardly before drifting off into his thoughts, contemplating on the possible outfit choices he has.
They both sit in a comfortable silence for a while, admiring the view outside as different thoughts run through their minds. Then upon seeing the time, Taehyung stands up and shrugs off his winter coat, leaving him in his neat black suit. He leans over and picks up his briefcase before inhaling one final stroke of the bitter smoke.
"And, Bunny..." Taehyung calls out once again as he spins to face him, his voice soft but rather... foreboding.
Jungkook hums in response, waiting for the man to continue.
"Whatever happens tomorrow..." Taehyung says while glancing up to meet Jungkook's eyes. He stares firmly at the boy as he crushes his cigarette butt onto the ash tray, letting the fiery glow of the stick disintegrate into a grey residue.
"...just remember to keep your composure."
A/N: Bruh how am I seven fat chapters in and still haven't introduced like half the characters?! Anyways, I'm curious... what do you guys think of Taehyung's character?

Overview TankaThe tanka poem is very similar to haiku but tanka poems have more syllables and it uses simile, metaphor and personifacation. There are five lines in a Tanka poem. Tanka poems are written about nature, seasons, love, sadness and other strong emotions. This form of poetry dates back almost 1200 years ago.HaikuHaiku poetry hails from Japan and uses strict syllable guidelines rather than focusing on meter or rhyme. Because the poem is short only three lines with 17 total syllables writers must choose words carefully to create meaning. Haiku poetry is typically simplistic, but its meaning can have great depth.
