《RESCUED AND RISEN》Chapter 38

"Amy could you assist me with making the drinks?" Morgan asked me from behind the bar counter. "Seth has gone on break, I don't see Kyan anywhere and everything is just piling up on me right now."
"Sure," I said as I placed the now empty tray on the counter and making my way around it to the bar section.
"I don't know what happened tonight but somehow I'm the only one here preparing drinks." Morgan complained.
"Don't worry, now you've got help." I said to her.
"And I'm so grateful for that. I'm supposed to send drinks over to Mr.Cavelli and Mr.Ackles table so I have to do theirs first. Could you make two Italian apple martini's?"
"Sure." I nodded before looking around to see if I could spot them. "Lucas is here?"
"Yeah, he's actually in more often recently. It is a bit surprising." Morgan told me.
"Really? Didn't they used to come here often since it's actually the main club their members hang out?" I asked as I went about grabbing the ingredients for the Italian apple martini.
Some Amaretto Di Saronno liqueur, DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker schnapps, lime juice, Stoli, Vanilla vodka and cranberry juice.
"Well, technically all the others and lower ranking guys would usually hang out here. As for Mr, Cavelli and Mr.Ackles they usually don't seem to have the time to hang out here much." Morgan told me. "It's like I said, recently they've been here often."
" Oh, well maybe they've been busy or mostly at the other one." I said as I
poured all the ingredients into iced shaker tin, and started shaking it.
"They have another club? I guess that's expected." Morgan nodded.
I kept looking around until I finally saw Lucas sitting at the table with Gio and Carter. I continuted shaking the shaker until the tin was cold to the touch, then I strained the liquid into martini glasses, garnish them with lime wheel, and then placed them on a tray that Nia- one of the waitresses- came for to serve.
"So how long have you been working here Morgan?" I asked her after adverting my eyes from Lucas's direction and getting new ingredients for another order of drinks.
"I've been here over a year now. And I actually love being here, it's better than anything else I could have done." Morgan told me.
"Oh." I replied as I glanced in Lucas's direction once again.
He, Gio and Carter seemed to be in a deep conversation that I wondered what type of business could it be that they are discussing. Though that wasn't really any of my concern. As I watched Lucas from the distance, I couldn't help wondering how his wound was healing. It had been a few days since he had gotten stabbed and me helping to clean, dress and bandage his wound. It must be healing quite well though.
"Alright, I don't know if I'm crazy or what but what is that all about?" Morgan suddenly asked me.
"What's what all about?" I asked confused looking at her.

"You and the boss." Morgan replied.
"What? What are you talking about?" I asked confused.
"You think I don't notice? You're eyeing him when he isn't looking and then I swear I see him looking your way every time you aren't looking either." Morgan responded.
"Uh... What? No way. I don't know what you're talking about." I said to her as I turned to finish with the drinks.
"You so do. Wait a minute, you like him dont you? You blushed." Morgan gasped like an excited teen hearing the latest gossip. "Wait, is there something going on between you too?"
"Of course not. There is nothing going on between Lucas and I, he's just my employer." I told her.
"Just your employer?" Morgan snorted "I don't think so. You live with him don't you? And the way you two keep stealing glances at each other, you can't expect me to believe that."
"Morgan you can believe what you want. Lucas and I aren't anything but boss and employee despite what you think. Lucas isn't a bit interested in me." I told her.
"But you are interested in him aren't you?"
"You're crazy." I chuckled shaking my head in denial.
"You don't have to be shy about it. The boss is hot. He's got a lot of females begging to fall at his feet yet I've never seen him showed any interest in any of them. I was actually starting to wonder but then I see him looking at you. Maybe that's the reason why he never seem interested in any of them, because he's got eyes on someone else-- maybe a certain purple hair girl with blue highlights." Morgan chuckled.
"Stop it. You have no idea what you're talking about. Lucas doesn't have an interest in me nor I any in him
" I told her.
"Hmm. It's called denial
" Morgan replied. "If you don't see things for what they are and try to claim the guy, someone else will.... Someone like that one."
"What?" I asked looking at her before looking over to Lucas's direction.
There was a new addition to the group, it was that girl again from the charity event -Carter's sister. What was her name again? Adana? It was something like that. She was now sitting beside Lucas, and in my eyes, she looked as if she was throwing herself at him once more.
"If you don't claim your man girl. That girl over there is going to do it for you." Morgan said to me. "It"s not her first time coming here and trying to get all cosy with Mr. Ackles."
"Morgan I don't care okay. I've told you, Lucas isn't my man. He is just my boss. He can be with anyone he wants. Besides, she may be perfect for him after all. I don't think I'm in his class." I said to her ."Now, please could you drop this conversation before anyone hears and think that it's true?"
"Okay," Morgan said holding both hands up in surrender. "Can't say I didn't try."

As I finished preparing the drinks and placing them on the tray for them to be collected and served, I couldn't helped but looking back over in Lucas's direction. Carter and Gio was gone and now there was only Lucas and the girl sitting together. They seemed to be well cozy the way she kept laughing and throwing her head back, then touching his arm. What surprised me even more was the fact that Lucas was also smiling and laughing occasionally. That was something I've never seen him done before- well at least not while he was around me.
I had just adverted my eyes and turned back my attention to the bar when someone sat down on the stool on the other side of the counter.
"Well hello again." The man greeted. "Wow, I like your new hair."
Great. It was that creepy guy from the business event-Carter and that girl's father. Now what did he want?
"Oh, hello. Thank you." I said plastering a smile on my face as I turned to face him. "It's nice seeing you again Mr...."
I had honestly forgotten his name.
"Rinaldo. But it's okay, you can just call me Marcos." he smiled at me. "I'm glad to see you again Amy."
"Oh you remembered my name." I said surprised. "It's such a shame I had forgotten yours."
"That's okay. I'm not the most important person in your life or anything so it's understandable." Mr.Rinaldo smiled.
"So what can I get you?" I asked him.
"You know I'm not so sure what I'd like to have tonight. What do you recommend?" He asked.
"I wouldn't know what to serve you Mr. Rinaldo..."
"Surprise me." He replied "Just make sure it's something good."
"Okay. That's quite a task but I'll see what I can do." I told him as I started grabbing ingredients.
I decided to make him a Mojito Diablo. As I started to make the drinks, Mr.Rinaldo continued talking to me. I still didn't like how he kept looking at me as if trying to stare through my soul or something. He was making me feel somewhat uncomfortable -again.
"You know you remind me so much of someone, I knew when I was younger." He said to me.
"Hmm? What we looked similar or have similar features?" I asked as I
muddled the sugar, mint and squeezed lime wedges in a mixing tin until the mixture smelled like spearmint gum.
"Yes, actually the resemblance is just so uncanny." He replied. "You must be wondering why I keep staring at you like that each time. "
"Actually I'm quite curious because to be honest, it's making me a bit uhm...uncomfortable." I confessed.
"I'm sorry. I don't mean to make you feel that way. Believe me when I say this too, I'm not trying to make any move on you either in case you might get that impression. I'm married and in addition you're too young- young enough that you could actually be my daughter." He said to me causing me to feel just a bit more relaxed now.
"Oh, well uh...I'm glad to hear that." I smiled at him before filling the shaker tin with ice, then add the tequila and cassis.
"So this person I remind you of, who was she? An old friend or girlfriend?"
"Yeah, you could say that." He nodded smiling. "She was a nice girl, we dated for a while and I honestly liked her, but I happened to screw things up with her. Guess I was a total jerk then."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. People make a lot of mistakes and bad choices when they're young." I said to him as I shake the shaker tin until it felt icey.
"Exactly, I know I did. But the worst part is I messed up so bad that even though I tried apologising she wasn't having any of it. So as you probably guessed, we broke up and you know I never get to see her again- not even when I visited back her hometown."
"Well that sucks. Whatever you did was that bad huh?" I said to him as poured the drink into a collins glass then top it with 7-up and garnish it with a piece of sugarcane stick and fresh mint.
"Yeah, it was a real jerk move what I did. I totally understand why she was so mad at me." Mr. Rinaldo nodded. "And when I saw you, I just remembered instantly."
"Oh well, we can't change the past now can we? But... You can change your taste in drinks for a night... I think you should try this." I said as I passed the drink to him
"Thank you. And what is this?" He asked me before talking a sip. "Mhmm, it's actually really good."
"It's a Mojito Diablo." I smiled at him.
"I like it." He nodded sipping it again.
"Well you're welcome Mr. Rinaldo." I smiled.
"Thanks Marie." He replied causing me to freeze.
"W-what?" I asked making sure I heard him correctly and wasn't just imagining things.
"Sorry, Amy." He corrected. "I just accidentally called you Marie because you remind me so much of her."
"And Marie is...."
"The girl I was telling you about. The one I met in Barbados and screwed things up with." He continued.
"Barbados?" I practically whispered.
"Yes, she was a beautiful Caribbean girl." Je smiled.
"Oh...uhm... Enjoy your drinks Mr. Rinaldo." I told him before turning away from him and going over to Morgan. "Morgan, could you please finish covering for me for the night? I suddenly don't feel so good."
"Sure Amy. Are you okay?" Morgan asked looking at me concerned.
"I don't know, but I will be. Please, I'll make it up to you tomorrow night." I told her before making my way to the changing room to grab my things.
I couldn't believe this. I needed to get out of this place right away.
