"Wait why are we knocking? It's my house" I said

As those words left my mouth the door opened and it was Mauricio.

"Are they here?" Zoe asked

"Not yet, but I'm guessing they'll be here any minuet" he said as we all entered the house

We all went and sat down in the living room to sit and wait. I could tell that the house had been scrubbed clean.

"So it all seems like we're nervous, how about a bit of wine to clam the nerves" my mum suggested

"Yea I will take some" James said

We all just looked at him and just laughed except for Zoe.

"Could we not make those type of jokes when they're here?" Zoe asked

"Of course, just trying to lighten the mood" James said

"I'm gonna go to the bathroom" Zoe said as she got up to leave

"I'm gonna go make sure she doesn't flee" Eric said following her.

"Why is she so nervous?" Dele asked

"They're most likely not going to approve of Eric" my mum said

"And they're evil" I added

"Well how evil do you really believe they are if yo-"

"James" I said cutting him off and he just put his hands up in defense.

There was a knock at the door and all of just froze for a second.

My mum and Mauricio got up to get the door as Zoe and Eric walked back into living room hand in hand.

We all heard the voices and we were all anxiously waiting for them to come in.

"Mum, Dad" Zoe said as she walked over to them and gave them big hugs, she seemed to be more relaxed after seeing them.

They all were standing at the doorway so I couldn't really see who was behind them.

"Hey Mrs Montgomery, nice to see you again" I said to Zoe's mum as she approached me and gave me a hug

"Amelia is that you all grown up?" Zoe's dad said coming over to me.

"Yes it's me" I said also giving him a hug.

"Leon and Ophelia are there go and say hi to them" he encouraged me. I just nodded before walking over to them.

"Hey Ophelia, so nice to see you again" I said giving her a hug

"Nice to see you too" she said kinda brushing me off

"Amelia" I heard Leon say

"Leon, it's been long" I said giving him a hug

"How are you doing?" He asked me

"I'm doing well" I said. I quickly glanced over at Zoe who were stood with her parents. I then looked over to Dele and Eric who were just standing next to each other.

"And who are these young men" I heard Zoe's mum ask. I saw the look on Zoe's face and she seemed frozen in the spot.

"Mrs and Mr Montgomery this is Dele my boyfriend, Dele this is Zoe's parents Mr and Mrs Montgomery" I said introducing them

"Nice to meet you" he said as he shook both of their hands

"Mum, Dad this is my boyfriend Eric" Zoe said walking over to stand beside Eric

"Oh, really?" Her mum asked

"It's really nice to meet you all Zoe's told me many great things about you guys" he said putting his hand out for them to shake

"Mhmm we'll talk about this later" her mum said just starring at Eric's hand and back at Zoe.

"Nice to meet you" Zoe's dad said shaking his hand.

Leon and Ophelia also shook his hand.

"Should we go eat?" James asked trying to make everything less awkward

"Yes that sounds like a great idea" my mum said as she started to walk towards the dinning room

"Montgomery? I thought Zoe's after name was Lane" Dele whispered to me

"It's her middle name and the name she uses because so she can kinda distanced herself from them" I said

He just nodded kinda surprised, but we followed everyone out to the dinning hall.

"Amelia would you like to help me bring out the starters?" My mum asked

"Yes" I said walking towards my mum

"I'll help out too" Eric said as he got up to leave with us

"They hate me" he whispered as we got to the kitchen

"No I don't think so" my mum said trying to encourage him and he just looked at her "okay just maybe a little"

"Her dad isn't as against it as her mum" I said

"Wow that helps me so much" he said

"Just you know be positive and keep it together" I said

"Okay I can do that" he said

We went back out with the food and most of the time it was my mum, Mauricio and Zoe's parents talking. Some of us would add a couple of words here or there, but it was going better than expected for all parties.

What I had noticed was Ophelia looking at Dele, a lot and I was even uncomfortable at this point.

"So Zoe and Eric how long has this been a thing?" Zoe's mum asked

"About 5 months now" Eric said

"And you didn't tell us?"

"I was going to tell you guys but you know uni it's been a lot so I really haven't had the opportunity to tell you" Zoe said very nervous

"So I'm assuming the prude is no longer a virgin, if we should be celebrating anything it should be that" Ophelia

"Ophelia" their dad snapped at her

"I'm sorry but I don't think it's okay for you to be speaking about your sister like that, it's very rude and disrespectful" Eric said

"Well I think you should just mind your own business" she snapped back

"It kinda is my business when your speaking about my girlfriend like that" he said

"Eric just leave it, it's not worth it" Zoe said and he just sighed

"So Amy what about you two?" Zoe's mum Isabel asked

"A couple of months too" I said

"And how did you guys meet?"

"Well Amelia is interning for us and we just met there and we clicked pretty fast" Dele said saying my name loud and clear

"What about you two" Leon asked Zoe

"I was picking Amelia up and I gave him a ride too and we hung out later that night a group of us and then from there on we started seeing each other" she said

"So Amelia is the one corrupting you" her mum said "nothing new" she whispered

"She didn't anything like that" Zoe said

"I just don't know what's gotten into your head, you can't handle uni and having a boyfriend" her dad said

"I'm actually doing great" Zoe said

"We can discus that later" Isabel said

"So Amelia is this thing between you two serious?" Ophelia asked

"Yes I'd say so" Dele said

"We'll see how long that lasts" Ophelia said

"Excuse me?"

"No im just saying you're not a long term gal, you only had one serious relationship and we know you get bored easily" she said

Dele hade to squeeze my thigh to try to calm me down and I just took a couple of deep breaths and sat back in my chair

"But also can we like get back to the fact that Zoe has a boyfriend" Leon said looking at Ophelia

"You play football right" Isabel asked Eric

"Yes, we both do" Eric said referring to himself and dele.

Isabel the proceeded to give Zoe a very disapproving look. Eric noticed it too and he just awkwardly smile.

"And you guys are in a serious relationship?" She asked as if she was disgusted

"Yes mum, I love him" Zoe said

"Yea we'll talk about that later" Isabel said and I could see Zoe boiling with anger.

"How about some dessert, I've got a real sweet tooth and you know I'd die for some of your apple pie" James said looking at mum

"Yes I'll get some, thank you for reminding me, Mauricio help me please" she said before getting up

"So what's everyone's favorite dessert?" James asked

The Montgomery's just looked at him like he was an idiot but I knew he was just trying to change the subject.

"My favorite is chocolate cake, any type chocolate cake" Dele said

"Specially from that diner" Eric added

"Yes the best thing on earth" Dele said

"Mine is red velvet" I said

"But isn't red velvet just red chocolate cake?" James asked

"No I don't think so"

"I think it is" Zoe said "but mine is ice cream, kinda boring I know"

"But sometimes all you need is ice cream" James said

"Agreed" I added "but not chocolate ice cream no one likes that"

"I do" Eric protested

"Well you're weird"

"Is this what you guys seriously talk about?" Ophelia said bringing down the mood

"Way to kill the mood" I whispered

"What did you say?" She asked

"Nothing" I said as I forced a smile

When my mum and Mauricio came out with the dessert the mood lighted a big. We were talking about me and Zoes friendship and the stuff we use to get up too when we were younger.

"Amelia was always the more wild and adventurous one" Leon said looking straight at me

And I just awkwardly laughed not sure what to say.

"These girls have been attached by the hip ever since they met each other" Zoe's dad Ian said while looking at Dele and Eric

"Yea I've noticed" Eric joked

"Yea expect for that big fight they had" Ophelia said

This girl was really starting to get on my nerves, she couldn't let us enjoy ourselves for one minute.

"What fight?" My mum asked

"Yea What fight?" Isabel asked

"Oh I remember" Leon said with a smile

"Enlighten the rest of us" Isabel said

"It was that really big fight when they were like 17 and they didn't talk for months because Amelia an-"

"We don't have to talk about that" I said cutting him off

"The important thing is we are friends now" Zoe said

"Agreed" I said

"We all know why you don't want to talk about it" Ophelia said as she looked at Dele

"Would you just shut up" Zoe said finally reaching her breaking point

"I think it's time for us to start heading home, I think the jet lag is getting to us all" Ian said

"Yea I think that's a good idea" my mum said

We all stood up from the table and we all shared a bunch of awkward hugs and said a bunch of awkward byes.

"I'm gonna start cleaning up" Mauricio said "boys come help me"

The boys all followed him, leaving me, Zoe and my mum.

"How are you feeling?" My mum asked as Zoe sat in between us

"Glad it's over, I'm just so tired of their behavior and them thinking it's okay to speak to you guys and Eric like that, it's so disrespectful and i hate the fact that they're my family sometimes" she said

"It's okay, I think Eric did pretty well" I said hugging her

"But he doesn't deserve to be treated like that neither do you guys or dele" she said

"What did you ever see in Leon?" She asked

"We don't have to be too loud about it, but I honestly don't know, he's a different person when you're alone with him" I said

"I hate him and I just hate them, I'm just so tired and my mum is gonna either make me choose between them and him" she said breaking down

Me and my mum hugged her from each side and you held her.

"It's okay baby, they can't do that" my mum said as she brushed the hair out of her face.

Zoe couldn't seem to stop crying and we held her and tried our best to comfort her.

I have no idea what I'd do if my family were like that and I understood why she was upset.

"What's wrong?" Eric asked as he walked in the living room and kneeling in front of Zoe

"She's just upset" my mum said

"Why don't you take her home" I said to him

"How are you guys getting home?" He asked

"We can crash here, it's okay" I said to him "I think

It's good if you and Zoe are alone right now" I added

"And if it's fine by dele" I said looking at him

"It's Fine by me" he said

"I'll see you tomorrow Zo, everything is going to be alright" I said giving her a hug and a kiss on the cheek and she just nodded.

Eric helped her stand up and led her out of the room to go and take her home.

"I'm exhausted, Im gonna go to bed" I said

"I think we all need to sleep after that" Mauricio

"Good night" I said to everyone as I too Deles hand

We all said goodnight before me and dele went upstairs to my room.

"You seem to be okay with saying to your parents that I'm staying here the night" Dele said

"Yes why wouldn't I be?"

"You're usually scared to even mention me to Mauricio" he said

"Why do you always think I'm embarrassed of you?" I asked as I began to remove my make up

"Because you act like it"

"Whatever lets just sleep" I said annoyed

"I'm gonna need clothes" Dele said

"You welcome to go ask James or Mauricio" I said to him

"Ha ha very funny"

"You can just sleep in your boxers" I said to him

"But it's cold"

"I promise to keep you warm" I said

"Oh really?"

"Yes, I'm just gonna wash my face and I'll be back" I said

I washed my face and brushed my teeth before joining Dele in bed.

"You look all cozy" I said as I turned to face him

"Your bed is cozy" he said

I leaned in to kiss him and he happily kissed me back and wrapped his hands around my waist to pull me on top of him.

"I've missed you and this" he said In between kisses

"Me too"

"We should probably sleep" I said as I got off of him

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Yes of course"

"Did you see the way Ophelia was looking at me?"

"Yes I really don't like her, she's so rude"

"Are you jealous?" He teased

"Jealous of a child?" I asked "she's like 17 so no I'm not really jealous"

"I was only joking"

"I know but you have to admit she's rude" I said

"She really is"

"All of them are"

"Also why did you and Zoe have that big fight and what did Ophelia mean when she looked at me"

"Bami I really don't want to talk about it tonight, I'm really tired" I said

"Okay" he said kinda giving me the cold shoulder

"Don't be like that, It just been a long day and I really want to sleep"

"I didn't say anything" he argued as he gave me a kiss on the forehead

"Goodnight" he said

"Good night"

"Amelia we need to get up, your alarm has been going off for the past 10 minutes" Dele said as I woke up

"I really don't want to go in today" I said to him

"Are you still sick?" He asked

"Yea a bit and I think Zoe is going to need me today" I said

"Yea you should take care of here, I'm going to get going so I don't get late" he said

"Okay" I said giving him a peck

"I'll see you later"

"See you"

I laid in bed on my phone for an hour before deciding to get up and get ready for the day. I decided to get breakfast and take it over to see how Zoe was doing. I knew she was at Eric's house so I drove over there with the food I had bought.

I knocked on the door as I waited for her to come and open. When she opened she looked defeated she was wearing Eric's clothes that were too big for her and her hair all messy in a bun, her eyes red and swollen.

"Hey how are you doing?" I asked her as I stepped in the house.

"I'm fine, what about you?" She asked

"Seriously Zo"

"I don't know what to say there's not a word that can really describe how I feel and there's definitely not a lot I can do about it" she said as we sat down at the table.

"You can try to reason with them, they can't disown you because you're in love with Eric" I said "do they want to choose you future boyfriend for you?"

"No I don't know, they are the way they are, they want to control everything in my life, they're gonna cut me off"

"But like they would still pay for you school and house and stuff, they wouldn't sacrifice your education"

"I don't think they'd sacrifice my education, but like housing and everything else they provide for id never see a penny again" she said

"Okay but at least we know now that they wouldn't take away your education and you know my family is yours, if they were ever cruel enough to take your apartment, then you could stay with us" I said

"I'm just gonna feel like everyone's burden and that's the last thing I want to do"

"But you're not Mauricio and my mum love you more than they love me"

"That's not true"

"You know what I mean"

"I'll think about it, but first I have to talk with my mum before I make any rash decision" she said and I agreed

"How did it feel seeing Leon yesterday?"

"It was weird we did end on good terms it wasn't like we disliked one another and while we were both away I guess we lost feelings for one another and I haven't seen him since I left" I said

"Yea I know, and I understood it would be weird he was your first real boyfriend and your first real love" she said

"Yea but that's over now, the way he was behaving last night made me hate him" I said

"Does Dele know about you two?"

"No he asked but I wasn't really up for talking about it I was pretty tired" I said

"Or are you just avoiding it so you don't have to talk about it?"

"Maybe"

"It's no big deal just talk to him he won't even care" she said

"I know I will" I said "any plans on seeing your family soon?" I asked

"We're having a family dinner at their hotel tonight so I'm guessing that's when I get the ultimatum" she said

"Do you need moral support?"

"No I think I gotta do this on my own" she said

"I'm not really want to talk about this anymore, maybe we could eat this breakfast while watching a movie" she asked

"Of course, lets go" I said as I got up

We then went to the living room and Zoe chose a Disney film for us to watch while we ate our breakfast.
