《More than rubies [D. Alli x E. Dier]》Chapter 15

I was happy and laughed, until I saw Eric.

"You're really happy with your girlfriend, eh?" he asked.

"It's fine, I guess."

He smiled at me.

"That sounds great."

I mean, I was happy, that Ruby and I were cool with faking a relationship on both sides, but still: I wasn't with Eric, so what did that mean to me?

I began to drink every evening. On September 22nd I drowned my feelings in alcohol, as so often.

"One more shot, please.", I asked the bartender.

He knew me, by now and refused to give me more.

"Fuckkkkk youuu. I hate you. I'll go home now!"

So I walked to my car, sloppy, drunk and tired.

I couldn't even see clear and so was my driving.

Quite bad.

One second I didn't pay attention, or didn't see it, but there was a tree and I directly crushed into it.

I had tried to grab the steering wheel and turn the car, but it was too late.

The ambulance was called and the medics tore me out of it.

Fortunately they came on time, because thirty seconds later the care exploded dramtically.

But my conditions were dramatic as well.

I lost more and more blood and the ambulance tried hardest to keep me alive.

*Eric's point of view*

At two o'clock my phone rang. It was... Dele's mum?

"Mrs. Alli? What's up, why are you calling me at 2 o'clock in the mor-ning?"

She was panting heavily and sobbing.

"...Come to the hospital, quickly. Dele... He...", she had a break-down.

"Oh, fuck.", I thought and immediately put on sweat pants and a jacket and then raced down the stairs.

I didn't care if someone was woken up.

My best friend was in danger and the other would understand that.

Dele was their friend, too.

I jumped into my car and drove very fast, to the nearest hospital.

I parked my car and walked quickly to the reception.

"My...", I took a deep breath. "My friend... Dele Alli. Where is he? Is he alright? What happened? Can I see him?"

The nurse shook her head. "You're not related to him. You can not see him now."

I was upset.

"And Mrs. Alli? Can I see her? Is she alright?"

The nurse shook her head.

"You're not related, so it doesn't matter."

"We're engaged. Is that enough?"

The nurse was suprised.

"Well, then I guess you can at least see Mrs. Alli. Mr. Alli has surgery at the moment."

"Fuck.", I muttered.

"Will he get through?"

"We don't know. Mrs. Alli is on the second floor, room twelve, at the moment."

I hurried to that room and ripped the door open.

"Mrs. Alli! Are you okay? Is Dele okay?"

She was crying a lot. Ruby was there, too.

"I told them, I was his sister.", she explained.

Ruby was comforting the crying mother.

I was confused.

"Why didn't you just tell them, that you're his girlfriend?"

"We're not together." Another shock hit me.

"What? Why? You two seemed so happy!"

She rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, so happy. Happy and depressed at the same time?"

That comment made Dele's mum cry even more.

"No..."

A nurse came in.

"Mrs. Alli? Are you alright?"

Mrs. Alli answered: "It's fine. Do you have any information about my son?", she asked and sobbed.

"Mr. Alli still is having surgery. We don't know anything new yet..."

Mrs. Alli broke down again. "My Dele! God.... Oh no...", she cried.

"There, there.", Ruby patted her back.

"Mrs. Alli, you need to calm down a bit... Your body will not be able to keep up such a hysterical behaviour. Wait, please. I'll talk to the doctor."

The nurse left the room.

"Mrs. Alli?" I didn't know why I said the following sentence.

"Everything is gonna be fine. Dele will be fine."

I had a certain feeling in my guts, which told me, that everything was going to be okay.

"Oh, Eric. Be realistic..."

One moment later the nurse came back with some pills.

"Please, Mrs. Alli. Take these."

Ruby squeezed Mrs. Alli's hand.

"Please. It's good for you." I nodded.

"Just two tiny pills..."

She sighed and swallowed them, only to continue her agonistic cries about her son.

Relatable.

In the next minutes Ruby and I were able to noticed how she calmed down and slowly faded away, into sleep.

I smiled.

"That's good for her... Resting a bit."

Ruby nodded.

"I really hope, with all my heart, that Dele will make it."

I gulped.
