Alli's POV

I walked down to the docks and walked to the ship. I felt someone nudge me and saw Yoshi, "Yoshi hey buddy." I said. He rubbed up against me as I helped him get on. I got on and looked at the animals and saw Plimpton, "Hey at least I didn't have to ride you this time buddy." I said. I walked up the stairs seeing Dolittle in a hammock.

I looked at Chee-Chee and pointed at Dolittle putting my hands as a pillow. He nodded then kicked his feet, "Who? What?" He asked. "Are we leaving on time or not?" I asked. "Aw yes." He said and we pushed off. I was at the wheel steering as Dolittle laid in the hammock, "What's your problem?" I asked. "Seasickness." He said.

Yoshi was eating some ginger root I brought on for any of the animals really but he held it to Dolittle, "Must I say you look....." I was saying. "Don't you dare both of you." He said. "You thinking what I am thinking buddy?" I asked him. "Who put my in this hammock?" He asked. "You put yourself there." I said.

He looked at me, "I am the captain of this ship right?" He asked. "Raise the blasted sails will you?" He asked the monkeys. I laughed at them as he took a big bite of the ginger root, "Uh that's a big bite." I said. He gagged and threw up overboard Chee Chee was making noise and pointed somewhere and I looked seeing Tommy riding a giraffe. "Man I told him to stay home." I said. "What?" Dolittle asked. "John, Alli slow the boat down." Poly said.

"Wait did I just understand Poly?" I asked Plimpton and Yoshi. He growled and Plimpton just made a chrip. Am I seriously talking to a polar bear and an ostrich, "No I wanna go faster." Dolittle said. I ran to the rope, "What are you doing?" Dolittle asked. "Nothing." I said. I saw him being lowered down but it stopped. I saw him step over the railing, "God dang it." I mumbled. He jumped and slid down the sail and I swung on the rope catching him, "I've gotta ya." I said to my little brother. I let him go and was gonna swing to where Plimpton and Dab-Dab where when Dolittle stood up and knocked him over.

We sat up Dolittle on top of me and I was on the bottom, "You okay?" He asked. "Yeah you okay?" I asked. He nodded then some cleared their throats and we looked at everyone. We stood up, "Ah he's alright." Dolittle said and picked Poly up. I walked over to my brother, "You're crazy I told you to stay home and don't do anything stupid." I said. "I am sorry I just couldn't stay behind I lost mum and dad too I couldn't loose you next." He said. I hugged him and kissed his head, "Don't use my own words against me." I said. He laughed and I felt Chee Chee hug me, "Are you okay?" Tommy asked. "Besides the minor heart attack you gave me yeah." I said. He laughed, "Ow!" Dolittle yelled. "What?" I asked looking at him.

"Private conversation!" He said. "Shouldn't I be part of it since I am Captain." I said. "You are not captain." He said. "Who's the one navigating us to where we need to go then?" I sassed. "You nearly died you don't have a say in this." He said. "Says who?" I asked. "Says me I am captain." He said. "No you're seasick that's what you are." I sassed him going back to the wheel.

I looked at my brother and watched as Dolittle dumped things out of buckets for my brother to pick up, "You know that was real mature of you for a grown ass man." I said. "Oh yeah and what would you have the boy doing?" He asked. "I don't know but I wouldn't make him clean a ship with the mess you caused." I said. "I'll make you....." He was saying. "Make me clean up the ship with him but then you wouldn't know where to go now aye?" I asked. He went to say something but went into his cabin slamming the door shut, "Good talk." I said.

*Skip an hour*

I whistled a melody that James and I would whistle every voyage we went out on, "You were married huh?" Poly asked. I jumped, "Do you just pop out of nowhere that's the third time you've done that to me." I said. "I know what you're thinking." She said. "That I should've said no and now I am stuck on a ship with a man that doesn't even want me here." I said looking at her. "No." She said.

"That I am talking to animals and actually starting to understand them?" I asked. "You sure are sassy aren't you?" She asked. I nodded biting an apple, "James was right about you." She said. "You knew my husband?" I asked. "Your husband was suppose to marry Lily but he married you instead cause he fell in love with a sassy, stubborn, but has the biggest heart girl." She said. I looked at her, "That's me." I said.

"Do you really believe in only one true....." She was saying. "Don't say the L word." I said. She rolled her eyes, "Okay your person you're suppose to be with maybe James was the one you fell in you know what with but maybe he's not your true you know what." She said. "You're better at not saying the L word better than Stubbins." I said. "I've had some practice." She said motioning at Dolittle and Chee Chee in the handmade boxing ring.

"He's stubborn I take it?" I asked. "Like you wouldn't believe it." She said. I chuckled and then two little monkeys who's names I am still wondering to learn started chattering at me. So I started hooting back at them and they chattered.

I felt someone smiling and someone starting, "Alli are you talking to monkeys?" Tommy asked. "Maybe." I said. He laughed and I saw Dolittle get punched in the face. I jumped over the railing and ran over. I looked at Chee Chee, "It's okay Chee Chee it could happen to anyone." I said.

He groaned as I took his helmet off and looked at his head, "I am alright." He said. "How many fingers?" I asked holding up two. "Four." He said. "Okay no you're not okay." I said.

*Skip until night*

I was sleeping my head on Yoshi.

*Dream*

I was sitting on the roof with James

of our house looking at the stars as it was our last night together, "Don't worry Al I'll be alright." James said.

"I should be going with you." I said. "I know you do but who'll stay here with Stubbins he needs to spend time with his sister." "Don't guilt trip me." I said running my hand through his hair. He laughed, "Don't worry Lily has this all planned out in her journal then we can move away from this town you, me, and Stubbins, we'll finally have our own place." He said. "Lily is the one you were suppose to marry how is she not mad at me?" I asked. "Cause she found her true love and believe it or he's also not like by her father either." I laughed as did he. He kissed me and I kissed him back, "I'll be back before you even know it we always find each other." He said. I smiled then kissed him then he pulled back.

*End of dream*

I sat up and breathed heavily. I looked over at my brother and brushed some hair out of his face and kissed his head. I stood up and walked upstairs seeing Dolittle, "You okay?" I asked wiping my tears. He looked at me and walked to the wheel then back over to me, "You crying?" He asked. "No it's sea breeze." I said. "Sea breeze why you crying?" He asked."You might get it but it's stupid." I said looking down at my brother. "Stupid is what your brother did today." He said as he was at the wheel.

"I lost my husband in a ship wreck." I said playing with my necklace. He looked at me, "My one true love up until then I thought love was bullshit." I said. He sat next to me, "That no one understand you and looks at you in a weird way." He said. I nodded, "Except that one person he and I would go on trips together he was scientist and dreamer. Always doing the big picture." I said. "Sounds similar." He said. "You lost someone?" I asked. "My wife Lily." He said.

I looked at him, "Was she on a ship with a James?" I asked. "How do you know?" He asked. "That was my husband." I mumbled. "I am sorry for your lose." He said. "I am sorry for your lose as well." I looked at him and he looked at me. He leaned in slowly when...,

"Hey." Stubbins said. We looked at him, "You two okay?" My brother asked. "Yeah." I said. "I think I'm beginning to understand a little bit of what the animals are saying." He said. "Seems you are boyo." Dolittle said standing up and going to his quarters. I stood up, "Did I interrupt something?" Tommy asked. I looked at my brother, "No." I said. "You two were leaning in when I was coming up." He said. "Okay it's late you should be going to bed." I said putting my brother with Yoshi and Chee Chee.

I went to lay down when the door opened, "Um there's an extra bed in here if either of ya want it." Dolittle said. "I like it out here go ahead." Stubbins said. I got up and walked in taking the second bed and going to sleep.
