《Love on Top》Ch.48

It's been three weeks since I started back working at the office. At first it was a little hard, but I quickly got into the swing of things. Bridgette, from what I had been told by this floor's receptionist, had been running thing very smoothly while I had been gone and I thanked her for that by buying her lunch after she had told me, many times I might add, that I should award her for her hard work. I awarded her of course and she was so happy that she was in tears, literally. After years of knowing her, you'd think that I'd remember that she was a very emotional person when it came to nice gestures towards her.
At around lunch time when I was going over some files Bridgette had given me on this very important account, I heard the sound of laughter right outside my office. I recognized the laughter immediately as Daphne and Bridgette.
"I'll talk to you later, Bridgette. Let me go see what this annoying boss of yours is doing," Daphne said. Soon enough, the door to my office opened and in walked Daphne with Ajani strapped to her chest in his carrier. She closed the door behind her.
"Hello, Papa Bear," She walked over and kissed me on the cheek.
"Hello, Mama Bear. Hello, Baby Bear," I smiled at them both.
"What brings you two here?" I asked.
"We came to eat lunch with you, but it seems like you're busy, Papa Bear," She replied.
"Yes indeed, Mama Bear," I sighed.
"I guess Baby Bear and I will have to eat lunch alone," She said.
"Sorry," I said.
"It's fine. You'll just have to make it up to me later," She smiled.
"How about I make it up to you this Saturday at 8?" I suggested.

"That would be lovely," She replied.
"It's a date," I nodded.
"Alright. Cool. Let's go, Baby Bear. Papa Bear has to work today," Daphne said.
"Before you go, I need to tell you something," I informed.
"Oh my God. You're buying me those shoes I wanted," She squealed.
"Yeah," I smiled as she gasped,"No." She narrowed her eyes at me.
"I'm taking a business to Taiwan to check on our branch there. I'll be gone for a week," I informed.
"Aww. Really?" She whined.
"Yeah. I don't want to go either, but I have to," I replied.
"Well if you have to," She sighed.
"When I get back, I'll spend an entire day with you and Baby Bear," I told her.
"Okay," She beamed.
"I'll even bring back some presents for you two," I said.
"Oh so you can buy other things, but not the shoes I wanted," She remarked.
"Those shoes cost seven-hundred dollars," I deadpanned.
"Seven-hundred dollars of pure beauty," She added.
"If I buy the shoes, will you buy me want I want?" I asked.
"I thought you hated it when I spoiled you?" She smirked.
"I do, but since you're begging for things I might as well do it," I replied.
"You want those Nikes we saw that one time?" She questioned.
"Yep," I answered.
"Ugh. Fine," She said.
"Thanks, honey," I grinned.
"Yeah yeah," She waved me off.
"Since we're taking about buying each other things, I think Baby Bear deserves something too," I said.
"I already have something in my," Daphne said.
"Like what?" I asked.
"Well there's this little shirt that says Lazy Days that I really like along with this cardigan, pants, and cute little hat that will just put the whole thing together," She explained. Seeing her excitement over this one thing made me smile. My future wife has never looked more beautiful than she does now.

"Ooh! I was also thinking that when he's able to walk, we can all wear matching outfits one, which will be so cute," She gushed.
"Oh now you want to wear matching outfits?" I asked.
"Sam, I was not going to wear those damn couple shirts," She rolled her eyes.
"That really hurts my feelings," I poked out my bottom lip and gave a sad look.
"And so did those ugly ass shirts you picked out," She said.
"They went ugly," I replied.
"Sam, they were ugly," She told me.
"No they weren't," I argued.
"Sam. Sam. Sam," She said.
"Yes?" I asked.
"They. Were. So. Ugly," She responded.
"Sometimes you make me wonder," I narrowed my eyes at her.
"If I make you wonder, then maybe you should go back to your whiny, spoiled, rich ex-girlfriends who will only give you the time of day if you took them out shopping," She shot at me.
"That was a low blow," I pointed at her with my index.
"And so were those ugly couple shirts," She quipped. I made an offended noise that caused her to laugh.
"This is the last time I watch That 70's Show with you," She giggled.
"Nooo. I like watching it with you," I said. She giggled again.
"I bet you do," She said. I chuckled softly.
"So would you rather keep me company for the rest of the day or do you want to go home?" I asked.
"I'll stay here, but you have to go and eat lunch with me," She replied.
"Daphne-"
"Don't you 'Daphne, I have so much work' me, Samuel Zhang. You and I will go out for lunch or so help me God I will kick your ass," She calmly threatened with a smile.
"I'm just gonna put some distance between us," I scooted my chair away from her. The door opened and Bridgette walked in.
"What's going on in here?" Bridgette asked looking between us.
"I threatened to kick his ass if he didn't eat lunch with me," Daphne informed.
"Okay," She nodded.
"So you're just gonna stand there and nod while she threatens my wellbeing?" I asked.
"Pretty much. Here's the budget for the anniversary banquet we're having next week," She placed a folder on my desk with a sticky note on top.
"Oh yeah and that sticky note is the date and time for your meeting with Vargas Enterprises for next week," She informed me.
"Alright, Bridgette. Thank you," I said.
"You're welcome....." She smiled, ".....Dr. Pee-Pee." Her and Daphne both started cracking up at my suspense, along with Ajani who didn't even know what his mother was laughing at. It kind of stung to see my son at me like that, even though he can't comprehend a word I'm saying.
"Bridgette, I hate you. Get out," I said.
"Looks like Dr. Pee-Pee is mad," She teased. Her and Daphne began cracking up.
"Oh come on!" I exclaimed.
