《Love on Top》Ch.46

Daphne and I were out at the grocery store together. Ajani was currently sitting in the black baby carrier was strapped to my body. He was resting peacefully in it the entire time as Daphne pushed the cart around the store.
"So far we got only half of the things we need out of this store. We just need to grab a few more things and we're done," She said.
"Do you need my help with anything, mommy?" I asked.
"No I don't, daddy," She smiled coyly. I chuckled softly.
"How long do we have to wait until we can take this chubby child of ours to the beach?" I questioned.
"I would say until he's at least six months, but that's just my preference. Why? You planning a trip?" She inquired as she scanned the grocery list.
"I am. I thought we'd all go to California or something," I answered.
"Oh?" She looked at me.
"I figured that he's too young to go out of the country with us," I told her.
"Well to fly, most airports require him to be at least two weeks old because when they're newborns their immune systems are much weaker," She informed.
"Alright," I nodded.
"But when it comes to the beach, we have to keep him protected from the sun, which means sunscreen, an umbrella, and thin clothing," She explained.
"Well I guess we can wait to take him to the beach or something," I said.
"Sounds good," She responded. Daphne grabbed what she needed from the aisle we were in before we left it to head to the chips and candy aisle.
"What kind of chips do you want?" She asked.
"How about the kettle cooked ones?" I suggested.

"Okay. I'll just grab the veggie straws," She replied. She gets the bags of chips we had each picked out. She places them into the cart.
"I don't see how you like those," I remarked.
"Easy. They're good," She said, "I kind of want some chocolate right about now."
"You are such a chocoholic sometimes," I rolled my eyes.
"I'll have you know that chocolate is the best thing to ever happen to this world," She said.
"Chocolate is very good, but I have more of a sweet tooth for caramel," I smirked at her.
"The way you're speaking to me now is the reason why we have Ajani," She flirted back.
"Let's just say that I can be very persuasive," I gave her a small smile.
"Yes you can," She agreed. We continued walking through the store picking up what we needed that was on the list.
"How do you feel about me and you going on a date next week?" I asked.
"That'd be nice, but we need someone to watch Ajani," She answered.
"We do need some, but at the same time we don't," I said.
"What do you mean?" She queried.
"Considering how my mother and your grandmother have been practically begging us so that they can babysit him is why we don't need just someone," I explained.
"That is true, but next week my grandparents are going on a trip for their anniversary and it's a week long," She said.
"So I guess we call my mother?" I inquired.
"Pretty much. I bet that when we tell her. she'll be jumping for joy," Daphne smiled softly.
"Literally," I pulled a straight face. She giggled.
"I keep forgetting to ask you this, but when do you plan on going back to the office?" She asked.

"Itching to get rid of me already?" I cocked an eyebrow.
"Maybe," She joked.
"How rude," I replied. She chuckled.
"I'm kidding, Sam," She smiled at me, "Mostly." I rolled my eyes.
"If you must know, I'm going back next Monday," I informed.
"Ooh. That gives me time to invite my boyfriend over," She gushed.
"Aye aye. Watch it," I sternly said. She giggled.
"I'm kidding, Sam. You're the only one for me," She said.
"I better be or else," I told her.
"Or else what?" She raised her eyebrow this time.
"Let's just say that you'll be choking," I responded.
"It's always fellatio with you," She said.
"Mommy, what's fellatio?" A little girl asked from behind us. Daphne and I both froze in shock. We turned to see a little girl standing behind us while holding her mother's hand. The woman glared at us and dragged her daughter out of the aisle. Daphne and I looked at each other before we both burst into laughter. We left the aisle and headed over to the next one.
"That was so embarrassing," Daphne laughed.
"Very embarrassing," I laughed as well. We continued to shop for groceries until we got everything we needed. We headed to the register where Daphne pulled out my black card, which I don't know how the hell she got it in the first place.
"How did you get my card?" I asked.
"Easy. I swiped it from your wallet a few months back," She answered.
"How in the world did I not notice?" I questioned.
"I don't know. That was an even greater mystery to me," She replied.
"You annoy me sometimes," I deadpanned.
"Oh hush. You know you love me," She waved me off.
"Do I?" I teased.
"You're lucky you're good looking," She replied.
"I know," I grinned. After we finished paying, we headed out to the car. I placed Ajani in his car seat. I placed the carrier we used when we were in public in the seat next to him. Daphne got into the car with Ajani while I loaded the car with the groceries. Once that was done, I got in so we could head for home.
During the ride, Daphne turned up the radio as soon as Redbone by Childish Gambino came on the radio. Now this woman knew she sucked at singing, but that didn't mean that she wouldn't try.
"If you want-" I turned off the radio when it got to that part.
"No," I shook my head at her, "We don't want it."
"You're such a hater, man," She kissed her teeth.
"I'm not a hater if I'm trying to save our son from going deaf just because you thought you were the next Aretha Franklin," I said.
"You are such a dick, Sam," She rolled her eyes.
"I mean I do have one and it's big," I shrugged.
"Nasty ass," She shook her head with a smile.
"Thanks," I winked at her.
