《Love on Top》Ch.43

Being seven months pregnant is the most stressful thing in the world because now I have to worry about my health, the baby's health, and all the dangerous outcomes that may or may not come my way that many pregnant women probably experience. My stomach has gotten a little bigger and it was kind of hard do things when you're the size of a balloon, like getting out of bed, putting on your shoes, or trying to reach for something on the top shelf. It was also a little hard to walk because my feet were swollen half the time. You can't forget that my little cinnamon bun is always pressing on my bladder and causing me to go to the bathroom every single. Only person, besides myself, that I feel bad for is Sam because bless his heart. He's always coming at my beck and call no matter what he was doing or where he was going. Sam has also been working from home a lot and he only goes into the office for big meetings or to just keep things in order. Bridgette, she's a natural born super woman, has been understanding and taking on about half of Sam's work load.

"Jesus, why didn't you have this sooner?" Bridgette asked as she helped Sam to put up decorations for the baby shower. We had rented out this medium sized hall for the baby shower, well Bridgette did.

"Because someone didn't want to have it at first," Sam replied.

"I almost had to get a rope, tie her down, and force her to have the damn thing," Marcela said.

"And I almost called the police on her," I added. Bridgette giggled.

"Well can you blame them? You, a pregnant woman who's baby is going to arrive in two months, did not want a baby shower, the one thing all pregnant women love to have," Bridgette explained.

"Honestly though," Arabella agreed as she walked into the room. Arabella was carrying a huge present in her hands and the diaper bag on her shoulder while Fredrick had Afryea in a black baby carrier strapped to his chest.

"Wow. Don't you guys look cute," I remarked.

"Thanks," Arabella smiled. They really did look cute. Arabella was wearing a yellow floral print, strapless romper, a pair of cognac wedges, and a long gold necklace. Fredrick was wearing a light blue, short sleeved button down that was tucked into a pair of white shorts, a brown belt, and a pair of beige loafers. Afryea from what I could see was wearing a cute little yellow floral headband and a yellow romper almost like Arabella's.

"Don't you guys look like something out of a magazine," I smiled.

"I just had to stunt for this baby shower," She said.

"On who were you trying to stunt on?" Marcela asked as she walked up beside me.

"You Gaines' sisters are some real moment killers," Arabella kissed her teeth.

"You're the one over here trying to 'stunt' when you don't need to," I giggled.

"Is it a crime to look this good? Because if it is, then they'd better lock me up," She smirked.

"Your fiance is ugly," I said to Fredrick. He chuckled.

"Very," He smiled.

"Fredrick, I am not ugly," Arabella spoke up.

"I'm kidding. You're very beautiful," He pulled her close and kissed her forehead.

"At least you know," Arabella grinned.

"Daphne, that is your friend," Fredrick said when they pulled away.

"Nah, boy. That's Sam's friend," I replied.

"Don't put that on me," Sam said as he walked by with a large present in his hands.

"I'm gonna go put the present away," Arabella said out loud.

"How's my niece doing?" Marcela asked.

"She's doing fine. I think she's enjoying this thing too much," Fredrick replied. In case you're wondering about Marcela calling Afryea her niece, she called her that because my sisters, Chad, Fredrick, and Arabella had become real close with each other like Arabella and I are. We all were like a big happy family to each other. My sisters and Chad started calling Afryea their niece like I do sometimes.

"Maria used to be so attached to that as well. Every time we went out somewhere, she would cry if she wasn't in it," Marcela shook her head.

"She does the same, but she also screams at the top of her lungs if she's out of it for a second," Fredrick laughed.

"Shit. Even Nasir was attached to it," Bryson add as he and Chastity walked into the room with Nasir and Faith in tow.

"Wow. I'm so glad you guys made it," I smiled, "Is Chad on his way?"

"He is. Kim and him had to go pick up the kids from grandma and grandpa's," Chastity informed me.

"I hope they get here soon," I said.

"With the way Chad drives, I wouldn't be surprised if they got here within two hours," Marcela remarked.

"That is true," Chastity agreed.

"Alright, guys. Those of you who just arrived, help me decorate," Bridgette announced as she walked into the room.

"Where do we put the presents?" Bryson asked.

"Umm...over there at that table where the other presents are," Bridgette informed.

"Thank you," He nodded.

"Well I guess I can help," Arabella said.

"I guess I'll just sit down," Fredrick spoke up.

Soon enough, Chad and his family arrived right before the time when guests were supposed to arrive. They helped everyone decorate the place before the shower started. They managed to get everything decorated two minutes before the shower started. I thanked them all for doing so.

When it hit 3 o'clock, the guests for the baby shower started arriving. My grandparents, Sam's parents, his cousins, his aunts, his uncles, my cousins, my aunts, and my uncles arrived as well. Luckily, we had enough room for everyone to fit and tables as well. Right now, I was sitting in a chair near the presents talking with Arabella, my sisters, and Kim, Chad's wife.

"Isn't this such a nice gathering?" A familiar voice said. I looked up to find my mother and Sidney standing before me. My smiled turned into a deep frown.

"What are you two doing here?" I asked rudely.

"Daphne, don't be that way," My mother answered.

"I can be any way I want to, Diane," I snapped.

"Daphne, we just came to see you," Sidney smiled at me. I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Yeah right. For what? To put me down? To tell me that the man I'm going to marry doesn't love me? To humiliate me in front of all these people?" I questioned.

"We would never do something like that," My mother told me.

"Newsflash: you already did," I spat.

"Oh so I'm guessing these two little birds that just strolled up in here are your egg donor and Sidney?" Arabella asked.

"Yeah they are," I grimaced.

"And who might you be?" Sidney looked at Arabella with a stank look on her face.

"I just so happen to be Daphne's best friend," Arabella informed.

"She finally made a friend? That's rich," Sidney scoffed.

"Not as rich as my foot going up your ass," Arabella shot at her. Sidney glared at her and Arabella just stared right back.

"If you're gonna do something, then please do it instead of standing there and glaring at me like some lunatic," Arabella said.

"Sidney, stop it," My mother hissed. Sidney narrowed her eyes at Arabella then turned her attention onto me.

"Daphne, it would've been nice to get a phone call or something from you about your engagement and pregnancy," Diane said.

"I would've done those things, but I lost both of your numbers," I replied.

"No worries. Your sisters can give it to you," She smiled.

"They can, but I won't ask them to," I curtly said.

"And why not?" She queried.

"Because after all the shit you did to me over the years and last year, I am officially done with you and that thing right beside you. Do you know why?" I responded.

"No. Why?" She said.

"Because ever since I was a kid, I have been put down by the both of you mentally and emotionally to the point of where I wanted nothing to do with either of you, especially Sidney because she tried to sleep with Sam. You guys are the most vile people I have ever met in my life and I wish you both would just take a look in the mirror to see that you both ain't shit, you ain't never going to be shit, and you never will be shit. So you can take your fake little 'why didn't you call us' shit somewhere because I am not having it," I seethed.

"Daphne, calm down," Arabella murmured into my ear.

"Daphne is everything alright over here?" Sam's mother asked as she walked towards us.

"And who might you be?" Diane asked rudely.

"I am Sam's mother, Lillian. Who are you?" Sam's mom replied with an attitude.

"I'm Daphne's mother," Diane answered snootily.

"Oh so you're Satan's reincarnate?" Sam's mom asked. I snickered.

"And I'm guessing the girl behind you is your spawn?" Sam's mom shot at her. The girls and I started giggling.

"How dare you say something like that about me and my daughter," Diane snarled.

"How dare I? No. How dare you come here and try to act all friendly after the hell you and your other daughter put Daphne through. It's really sad to see that Daphne had to deal with a vile and despicable person like you all her life. You should be ashamed of yourself for how you treated this poor girl," Sam's mother glared at her, "And you." Sam's mother turned her attention to Sidney.

"You should be ashamed of yourself for what you did. You almost tore apart my son and Daphne because of your jealous ways. You should also be ashamed of the fact that you decided to show your face around me, Sam's mother, after you tried to sleep with him," She explained. Diane looked to my sister's and I.

"So you girls aren't just going to say anything while this woman is attacking us?" Diane asked.

"Actually no we aren't, mother," Chad spoke up from behind her.

"Chad, you too?" She questioned in shock.

"Yes. Me too, mother. My sister's and I have watched from the sidelines as you and Sidney belittled Daphne every single day and made her feel worthless. We're just about getting tired of your shit," Chad told her.

"Chad, that is no way to speak to you mother," She scolded.

"I don't think the title of mother fits you with the way you've treated Daphne. I think egg donor is much better of a nickname. Don't you think so, Daphne?" Chad replied.

"Oh yeah it is," I agreed.

"You will regret this," She seethed.

"I'm already regretting the time I wasted talking to you and that stupid ass girl behind you," I said.

"I think it's best for everyone if the both of you just exited the way you came," Sam said as he walked behind them. My mother stomped her feet and stormed out. Sidney glared at me, but Arabella bucked at her causing her to shriek and run out. We all started laughing together about what just happened.

"Thanks, guys," I said.

"No problem, Daphne. Anything for you," Sam kissed my cheek

"Now let's enjoy the rest of the baby shower," Arabella said.

"Alright," I smiled.
