《Love on Top》Ch.41

"Sam," I called out to my handsome, almost-husband.
"Yes?" He said.
"Can you help me put on my sandals?" I questioned.
"Sure. In a second," He replied from the bathroom.
"It's getting harder to put on my shoes nowadays," I sighed. Now that I'm five months pregnant, I have to ask Sam for some assistance from now on when it comes to shoes whenever I put them on or take them off, but the taking them off part is usually very easy though.
"Well that's what happens when you're pregnant," He said.
"I guess you're right," I responded, "But it'd still be nice to be able to just put on my shoes like I've done every single day for the past twenty-nine and a half years." He simply chuckled from the bathroom.
"Well after Ajani is born, you can go back to putting your heels on normally as you've done for the past twenty-nine and a half years," He said. Sam stood up and looked at me. Today, Sam and I were going to visit Arabella and Fredrick in the hospital. Last night, Arabella had given birth and Fredrick had called us multiple times to get us to come down there, but Sam and I were sleeping like rocks last night. So to make up for it, Sam and I decided to head down there now to see Arabella and the baby because I was sure that she was conscious enough, and aware enough, to see us.
On our way to the hospital, Sam and I stopped by Party City to pick up some balloons for Arabella and the baby to go with the gift we were bringing which was a onesie that said Baby Bear and it was in white. When we arrived at the hospital, Sam and I went straight to the elevator. We went to the floor that Fredrick had texted us. Once we were on that floor, we walked straight to the room and through the open door. We find Arabella, her aunt, Fredrick, and Fredrick's parents in the room. Arabella's aunt was holding the baby.
"Oh wow. You guys finally showed up," Arabella said, "I thought I was gonna have to call SWAT."
"Sorry, Bella. I was really exhausted yesterday," I responded.
"It's fine, Daphne," She smiled softly, "I'm just glad you're here."
"You better be," I flipped my hair over my shoulder.
"The door," She pointed behind me. We both started laughing.
"We brought a present," I informed.
"For me?" She gasped.
"No, fool. For the baby," I replied.

"You're such a butt," She gave me a stank face.
"I mean I have one so..." I said.
"Oh wow. The rest of us aren't even here," Fredrick said.
"I didn't come here for you, Fredrick," I joked. He pulled a face and everyone laughed.
"Don't worry, man. She's just being a butt," Sam said.
"We can see," Arabella's aunt chuckled.
"No no. She's right. No one came here for Fredrick or Arabella," Fredrick's mother laughed.
"The baby is all we came for," Fredrick's dad chortled.
"Thanks," Arabella exclaimed. I waddled over to Arabella and sat on the edge of the bed near her. I handed her the bag with the present inside.
"Open, ugly," I told her.
"If you weren't pregnant and if my vagina didn't look like Michael Myers face, we'd be fighting," Arabella said.
"Eww. I didn't need a visual," Sam remarked.
"Me either," Fredrick's dad pulled a face.
"I think I'm gonna have nightmares now," Fredrick muttered in horror.
"Get over it," Arabella, Fredrick's mom, Arabella's aunt, and I said in unison.
"Honey, we have to go," Fredrick's dad said to his wife.
"Oh alright. We'll see you guys later," She told them.
"Bye, mom. Bye, dad," Fredrick smiled. They said goodbye to all of us before leaving out the door.
"Well I guess that's my cue to go," Arabella's aunt said.
"Already?" Arabella asked.
"Yes. If I don't go now, your aunt might burn down the house trying to cook," She answered.
"Oh my God. Please go and make sure that man doesn't burn down that house," Arabella chuckled.
"I'd better go check downstairs to see if they haven't admitted him yet," Her aunt joked.
"Let's hope they didn't or else you'll have two people to visit in the hospital," Arabella giggled.
"I don't need anymore," Her aunt sighed. Arabella laughed and said goodbye to her aunt. Once the door closed, I turned to her with a mischevious look on my face.
"Sooo...what's the baby's first, middle, and last name? How much did she weigh? Am I the godmother? Is Sam the godfather?" I questioned.
"Oh my God. Slow the fuck down," Arabella replied.
"Just answer the damn questions," I demanded.
"Her name is Afryea Nyomi Williams, she weighs seven pound six ounces, yes you are the godmother, and yes Sam is the godfather," She told me,
"Anyways, you mind opening that present for me? I think you'll like what's inside," I told her.
"Oh really?" She asked.

"Really, hoe," I responded.
"Fine. I'll open your stank ass present," She said. She opened the bag and took out a white onesie that said All Because Two People Fell In Love in gold writing.
"This is so cute, Daphne," She smiled at me.
"I found it in the store the other day and decided to buy it for you guys," I smiled back. Arabella hugged me and I hugged her back. We pulled away and she looked in the bag to find a cute little custom made pacifier with the babies initials on it.
"Did you get this custom made?" She asked.
"Yeah. It was Sam's idea to do it," I replied.
"Thanks, Sam," Arabella smiled.
"No problem, Arabella," He smiled back.
"So when are you getting discharged?" I asked.
"Probably this Friday," She answered.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yeah. They keep you in the hospital for a shorter time than they used to," She informed.
"That's crazy," I said.
"I know right," She agreed.
"So six weeks without sex? How is that going to feel?" I asked.
"Like torture," Arabella groaned. Sam and I laughed.
"Shouldn't I be the one saying that?" Fredrick spoke up.
"Nigga, you and I both know that you get into your little moods and say 'not tonight, Arabella', 'let's talk instead', 'is sex all you think about', and 'I'm too tired'," Arabella said. Sam and I started laughing.
"When you're done healing, you can have two more weeks of no dick from me," Fredrick told her.
"Don't worry. I still got my fingers and Julio," Arabella said.
"Julio? Who's Julio?" Sam asked in confusion.
"Her dildo," Fredrick and I answered in unison.
"Oh my God. My poor Christian ears," Sam wailed covering his ears.
"Sam, don't sit here acting innocent. I've seen those nasty ass texts you've sent Daphne when you're feeling horny, especially when you're at work," Arabella told him.
"Whoa. Why the hell have you been reading their messages?" Fredrick asked.
"I've showed Daphne what you sent me as well," Arabella replied.
"Why the hell is she letting you read her messages?" Sam questioned.
"We're friends," I replied, "Duh."
"What if I showed my friends our messages?" Sam asked.
"I'd cut your dick off," I answered curtly.
"That's not fair," Sam complained.
"Life isn't fair. Now hush," I waved him off. He sighed and shook his head. The door opened and in walked a nurse.
"Alright, Mommy. Feeding time," The nurse announced, "Oh. Hello." The nurse smiled at Sam and I genuinely.
"Hi," I greeted.
"Well isn't this a little adorable scene," She gushed.
"What?" Arabella and I asked.
"One of you gave birth and the other one is going to be giving birth in a couple of months," The nurse answered.
"Oh," Arabella and I nodded. The nurse walked over to the hospital bassinet and picked up Afryea. Sam helped me up and moved me to the side with him.
"You didn't have to get up dear," The nurse said.
"I didn't want to be in your way," I told her.
"You're fine, dear," She assured me. Arabella, with the help of Fredrick, unbuttoned part of her gown and held Afryea up to her breast. Afryea latched onto her nipple and started sucking.
"So, mommy-to-be, how far along are you?" The nurse asked.
"I am exactly five months pregnant as of now," I responded.
"Just four more months until your little bundle of joy is in your arms," She beamed.
"Yeah. I'm excited," I smiled.
"Boy or girl?" She queried.
"Boy," I answered.
"Any names?" She asked.
"We picked out Ajani," I replied.
"How cute," She smiled.
"Thank you," Sam said.
"You're welcome," She nodded, When Arabella finished feeding, Afryea, the nurse took her from her.
"Do you mind if my friend here holds the baby?" Arabella asked.
"Sure," The nurse replied, "She can sit in that chair over by the window," She responded. Sam and I walked towards the chair and he helped me to sit down. I held out my arms and the nurse carefully, but slowly placed the fragile, yet beautiful, goddaughter of mine into my arms. Afryea looked up at me with a her little eyes and I smiled down at her.
"She is such a beautiful baby girl," I said to Arabella.
"I know right. That's because her momma slays," Arabella conceitedly said. The nurse, Sam, Fredrick, and I rolled our eyes.
"Afryea, your mother is the most conceited and ugliest person I know," I joked.
"Don't call me ugly," Arabella said.
"Don't be ugly then," I shot at her.
"Hater," Arabella scoffed.
"You keep thinking that, crazy," I said.
After holding Afryea for a while, Sam held her too before she was put back in her little bassinet. We stayed with Arabella, Fredrick, and the baby until it was time to go. We promised to be here on Friday when Arabella was discharged from the hospital.
