《Love on Top》Ch.38

Daphne and I were currently at Arabella's baby shower. Arabella was now six months pregnant while Daphne was currently two months pregnant. At two months of pregnancy, Daphne already had a small, but visible baby bump. Daphne and Arabella were currently talking to some of Arabella and Fredrick's aunts and female cousins. I was talking with Fredrick, some of his male cousins, uncles, and his father.
"You are one lucky man, Sam," Fredrick's father, Kenneth, said.
"Thank you, sir," I smiled in Daphne's direction.
"Fredrick's even more lucky to have Arabella," He responded.
"If that ain't the truth," Fredrick's uncle, Andy, agreed.
"I'm still trying to make sense of how someone as sweet as Daphne ended with a sister like Fredrick's ex," His cousin Derrick said.
"The first she even talked about her sister, I thought she was over exaggerating, but when I met them when we went out to eat with them, I was surprised that they even talked to her like that," I truthfully stated.
"Came as a shock to me too when I had started out dating Sidney. I couldn't believe that she would just bash her own sister like that, but what really surprised me was her mother, who just went along with it," Fredrick remarked.
"Well that's all in the past now. You've both moved on from dark places in your lives," Fredrick's dad said.
"True," His uncle Andy said as he took a sip of his beer.
"I hope you two are ready for your these babies," His cousin Derrick said.
"I'm ready because I'm getting tired of Arabella finding the food I hide from her," Fredrick sighed. We all started laughing.
"I don't know why you even attempted to do some mess like that, man," His cousin Nick said.
"Layla, every time I bought food for myself, would always find it and eat it when she was pregnant with Drew. After a while, I just gave up, but as soon as she was pregnant with Darlene, I just bought enough food for the both of us," Derrick explained.

"I thought I was the only one," I spoke up.
"See? Fredrick, at least he had common sense enough to buy more food," His cousin Marvin said. Fredrick pulled a face and we just laughed at him.
"Hey, boys." A slim, brown skinned woman with long black hair, high cheekbones, full round lips, and brown eyes came towards us. The mood shifted slightly between the rest of the men in the group. Uh-oh. I had a bad feeling about this woman standing right next to me.
"Hey, A'isha," Fredrick greeted with a small smile.
"How have you guys been?" She asked.
"We're fine," Fredrick's dad responded, "How's your job at the hospital?"
"It's great. I'm actually relieved that they actually let me have some time off so I could attend the baby shower," She smiled.
"That's good," Derrick said.
"Pardon me for being so rude," She turned her attention to me.
"Oh no. It's fine," I assured her with a faint smile.
"I'm A'isha. I'm Fredrick's cousin," She said, "And you are?
"Taken," Marvin spoke up. A'isha rolled her eyes and smiled at me.
"I'm Sam," I said.
"Nice to meet you, Sam," She smiled. She was a very beautiful woman, I'll admit that, but she couldn't compare to Daphne at all. Not one bit.
"You too," I nodded.
"Fredrick, can you, your father, your uncles, and cousins, come help me outside," One of Fredrick's aunts said. What perfect timing she has.
"Sure," Fredrick said. The rest of the men reluctantly left me and A'isha and I along together. If they were acting like that, then I guess this must mean that she's bad news.
"So, Sam. How do you know Fredrick and Arabella?" She asked.
"My fiance knows him because he used to be engaged to her sister," I answered.
"Oh. Who's your fiance?" She asked.
"The woman sitting next to Arabella," I responded looking over at Daphne. She turned her head in Daphne's direction. Daphne turned her head in our direction and smiled at me. I smiled back at her and then she turned back to talk to Arabella.

"She's is pretty," A'isha turned back to me with a smile.
"She's gorgeous," I said.
"How long have you guys been engaged?" She questioned.
"Two months," I answered.
"Oh," She smiled a little, "Well she's a lucky girl to have a handsome man such as yourself."
"It's more like I'm the lucky one," I responded.
"I bet you are," She said, "I bet you are."
"I assume that you have a boyfriend," I said.
"Oh no. I don't," She responded.
"Why is that?" I queried.
"All the guys I've dated or talked to just haven't peaked my interest one bit," She explained.
"I'm sorry," I replied.
"It's fine, but hopefully I'll meet the right one," She told me, "Hopefully." She gave me a certain look that made me go 'oh'. Now I see why Fredrick, his father, his two uncles, and cousins were reluctant to leave me with her.
"Will you excuse me, I'm gonna go see if my fiance needs me," I said.
"Oh. Sure," She smiled. I walked away from her and towards Daphne. As soon as I approached, Daphne looked up at me with a warm smile, which I returned. I sit down in an empty seat right beside her.
"I saw you talking to Fredrick's cousin," Arabella remarked.
"Yeah I was talking to her," I said.
"We even saw that look she was giving you," Daphne spoke up.
"You noticed it too?" I asked.
"Mhm. All I have to say is watch out for that girl, from what Fredrick told me, she's bad news around men, especially men in a committed relationship," She replied, "Just know that his cousins, the females and a few males, have lost some boyfriends, fiances, and a few husbands because of her."
"I would never ever do that to Daphne," I said.
"Oh I know, Sam. I trust that you won't , but I'm just warning you to watch out for that girl," Arabella responded.
"And even if you were like them, which I know you're not, best believe that you'll be missing three very important things that helped me make this baby," Daphne sweetly said.
"I heard it," She smiled.
"You hear this, Arabella? That whole thing is the reason why I'm not even thinking of cheating on her," I gestured at Daphne. They both laughed at what I said.
"At least you know now what's on the line," She chuckled.
"He better or else I won't be the only trying to choke the shit out of him," Daphne joked.
"Yeah your entire family made their points pretty clear, especially Marcela," I laughed.
"I told you before that my sisters are their own levels of crazy," Daphne giggled.
"Don't forget me, girl. I can be crazy too," Arabella chirped.
"We know," Daphne and I said in unison. All three of us started laughing together.
"I leave for one minute and you are already flirting with my fiance," Fredrick rejoiced with a smile.
"You act as if people actually want this psycho," Daphne chimed.
"Hey. I'm a beautiful psycho," Arabella winked at her. Daphne rolled her eyes with a shake of her head.
The rest of the baby shower was pretty fun, Daphne and Arabella almost ate all of the food, and they also fought over it too which was kind of crazy and weird at the same time. Every time Fredrick's cousin A'isha would get close to me, Daphne would turn my head in her direction and kiss me right in front of her. She would even do certain things and smirk at A'isha the entire time as if to say, 'he's mine so back off or else I'll rip your head off'. I was enjoying the extra affection from her and her possessiveness. It was actually very sexy to see this side of her. Later on, I'm going to show her how much I love how possessive she is of me.
