《Love on Top》Ch.35

It's been one month since Sam and I went to Bora Bora together. I, of course, missed Bora Bora and I wanted to go back, but I have a job and Sam is the CEO of his father's company. We can't take off like that for real. Currently, I was at Arabella and Fredrick's new home that they moved into two months ago since they were having a baby together.

"Everything hurts," Arabella moaned. I chuckled with a smile on my face as the four months pregnant woman kicked her feet up on the recliner.

"Well you're the one who wanted to have a baby, so deal with it," I told her.

"If I had known that being pregnant would be a pain, then I would've told Fredrick's ass that we needed to adopt or something," Arabella responded. I laughed.

"Don't let Fredrick hear you say that," I smiled.

"He can hear it, read it, or see it, " She kissed her teeth, "Why? Because he gets one and only one baby out of me." I chuckled.

"I can't believe you're pregnant," I said, "Aren't you excited?"

"I'm excited, but I'm already dreading the next four months," She answered.

"Oh yeah. You'll really have to be careful because this is when the baby is really leaning towards the danger zone. You have to be very careful to not get too stressed or anything," I explained.

"Yeah and the wort part is that Fredrick is already treating me like I am already four more months along," She sighed heavily.

"Can you blame him? He's just as excited as you are to see this baby, plus this is his very first child," I replied.

"I know that, but I feel like some sheltered kid when he's around. I love how attentive he is to not only my needs, but the baby's, it's just that I feel a little smothered," She said.

"Have you told him?" I asked.

"No," She muttered under her breath.

"Why?" I inquired.

"I'm afraid to," She answered.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because of your sister," She replied.

"Oh no. What did she do?" I groaned.

"She didn't do anything recently, but it's just that he told me that during those four years they were together, she would emotionally and mentally abuse him to the point of where his self-esteem was lowered. If I try to tell him that he's doing something or that what he says is wrong, he starts to shut down or apologize. Not to mention that anytime anyone gives him compliment or something, he belittles himself. It hurts me to see him this way because what if this continues while we still have the baby? What if he gets worse? What am I gonna do, Daphne?" Arabella explained.

"Therapy?" I looked over at her.

"How would I even say something like that?" She asked.

"Just ease it into conversation. Don't spring it onto him all at once," I answered, "And also tell him that this behavior worries you a lot, that you don't want to stress out about it with the baby on the way, and that you love him and don't like seeing him this way."

"Why did you become a journalist?" She asked.

"What made you ask that?" I queried.

"Because you just gave me some good ass advice that a therapist would," She responded.

"Oh," I chuckled, "Fredrick and I, even though we were never really around each other during the time he was engaged to my sister, had a sort of understanding with each other. He understood why I wanted to avoid my mother and Sidney and I understood that he didn't want to marry Sidney at all. We both just understood each other because we were both being constantly belittled by my sister. Because of that, I don't want to see him still emotionally and mentally damaged from the things my sister said and did."

"I wish I had been friends with you then like I am now so I can just kick their damn asses," Arabella said.

"Me too. You could've taken my sister's bitch ass friend, Becca. She can't fight for shit," I joked.

"That wouldn't have been any fun. I need a challenge, not a damn punching bag," She shook her head. We both looked at each other and started cracking up. Once we calmed down Arabella spoke,

"Have they tried contacting you?"

"Probably have, but I blocked their asses after the shit Sidney pulled. She tried to get Sam to cheat on and just when she was about to start, I walked in. Like an insecure, dumb ass, I ended up believing that shit, which caused Sam and I to separate for a few weeks," I explained.

"Whoa. Didn't you tell me this?" She asked.

"I believe so," I replied.

"Your sister and your bitchy mother make my blood boil," She clenched her teeth.

"Calm down there, tiger," I chuckled.

"Anyways, let's get off the topic of the devil and her spawn before I get in my car and try to 'accidentally' get them under my front and back tires," Arabella said.

"Fine by me. I'm just getting pissed off anyways too," I agreed.

"Since Fredrick and I have been preparing for the baby, I decided to put off the wedding," She told me.

"Really? Why?" I inquired.

"Because I wanted to wait until we got into the swing of things with the baby and because I want my baby to at least be one of the flower girls or something," She informed.

"That's cute," I smiled.

"I know right," She smiled back.

"Fredrick was okay with this?" I asked.

"He was totally okay with it. Hell, he even agreed with me on this decision. He just wanted us to get used to the baby and the routine that comes with him or her before we get married," She answered.

"At least you guys are on the same page," I remarked.

"Mhm. Speaking of weddings, when is Sammy boy gonna pop the question?" She asked.

"I don't know, but I hope he isn't extra as fuck with some scavenger hunt all around New York or something," I shook my head.

"Whaaat? I thought you'd like things like that," She joked.

"Hello no, Arabella. I just want the simple things," I replied.

"Alright, Miguel," She giggled.

"I'm being serious. Sam doesn't have to do all this extravagant shit with me. All he can do is take me out to eat and just propose thee with me being an emotionally extra ass bitch when he gets down on one knee," I said. She bust out laughing.

"Daphne, you stupid," She chortled.

"I'm being serious," I responded, "He's so extra sometimes, I can't."

"Can you blame him? He never had someone to be spontaneous for. All of his ex-girlfriends, from what you told me, always wanted to go shopping, go out to eat, or just plain spend his money. Now that he has you, he can do all those extra spontaneous things," She said.

"I guess you're right," I acknowledged with a nod.

"What kind of wedding would you even want?" She asked.

"I want a wedding that's not too big and not too small. Something that's in the middle," I answered, "And I want it to be simple and not stressful either," I answered.

"Come on, Daphne. Be spontaneous for once in your life," She nudged me.

"No way. I don't want Sam to waste on all that money on an event that will happen only once in our lifetime," I shook my head.

"Daphne, don't you think that a once in a lifetime event needs to be spontaneous" She asked.

"No. Do you?" I queried.

"Yes I do," She answered.

"I'm guessing that your wedding is going to be spontaneous?" I questioned.

"Yep and Fredrick's parents are paying for it," She grinned.

"His parents? I thought they had a falling out after he broke it off with my sister?" I looked at her.

"They did, but I persuaded him to go and talk to him so they could at least make up before the baby comes," She informed me, "You already know that my parents died in a plane crash years ago."

"You just wanted him to make up with them because your parents aren't around anymore?" I said.

"Yeah. He understood my intentions immediately and agreed to do so. They made up, of course, and he told them about me and the baby," She smiled softly.

"Why couldn't you be my sister?" I asked.

"Because you were fated to have the devil's reincarnation be your sister," She laughed. My phone starts ringing and I picked it up to see that Sam was calling. I felt my body start to heat up as I looked at my phone. A smile started to form onto my face.

"I guess the hubby is calling you," Arabella smirked.

"Yes he is," I beamed. She laughed.

"Go ahead and answer him. I'll be in the kitchen trying to find that pint of ice cream that Fredrick thinks he can hide from me," She said.

"I don't know why he hides things when you're just gonna find it eventually," I chuckled.

"Me either, but it's so cute how gullible he is," She gushed. Arabella managed to get off the couch and waddle all the way to the kitchen. I pressed accept and held the phone to my ear.

"Hello," I greeted.

"Hey. How long are you gonna be hanging out with Arabella?" He asked.

"Aww. Does somebody miss me?" I teased.

"No. I'm just hungry," He answered.

"I should strangle you," I grimaced. He started laughing.

"I'm partially kidding, but seriously come home. I want to go out to eat," He told me.

"I don't wanna leave Arabella all alone," I replied.

"I'm pregnant not handicap," Arabella called from the kitchen.

"There's your answer. Now come home," He said.

"And if I don't?" I smirked.

"I'll go out to eat on my own," He responded.

"Well have fun by yourself," I said.

"I will," He replied.

"Okay. Bye," I said.

"Bye," He responded. I hung up the phone and I turned to Arabella who was now sitting on the couch with a pint of ice cream in one hand and a spoon in the other.

"So I take it that you guys aren't going out to eat together?" She asked.

"Nope," I popped the 'p'.

"Since Fredrick won-"

"Arabella, I'm home," Fredrick announced.

"Well never mind," Arabella responded.

"I guess that's a sign telling me to go," I chuckled.

"Sorry," Arabella said.

"It's fine." I assured her, "I'll see you later."

"You too," She nodded. As I gathered my things, Fredrick walked into the room.

"Hey, Daphne," He greeted.

"Hey, Fredrick," I greeted back.

"Arabella, how the hell did you find the ice cream?" He asked.

"You suck at hiding, that's how," She replied.

"That's my cue to leave," I said.

When I got home, Sam's car wasn't in the garage. This fool really did leave to go out and eat by himself. Son of a bitch. As soon as I got into the house, Dave and Cristian greeted me. I petted them both and took them outside so they could do their business. I'm still a little disappointed that he literally left me at home to go eat by himself. I thought he was bluffing. Dave, Cristian, and I went back inside when they were done. I made sure to feed them both before going upstairs to Sam and I's shared bedroom. I slipped off my shoes and walked to the bathroom so I could shower. One was needed since I was at Fredrick and Arabella's all day. I removed my make up first because I didn't want to get into the shower and have it running all down my face, which would have been terrifying. I turned on my Beats Pill, which was in the bathroom. I went to my playlist and started playing Location by Khalid before stripping and stepping into the shower. I sighed in content when the warm water hit my skin.

"Send me your location, let's..." I sang softly as I washed myself, "...focus on communicating."

After my shower, I dried off my body while singing to Prblms. I moisturized my body with Shea Butter because I don't want to be ashy. I pulled on a pair of boy shorts, pajama shorts, and a t-shirt with no bra because what are bras? My phone starts ringing, bringing me out of my zone. I pressed accept.

"Hello?" I greeted.

"Are you home?" Sam asked from the other end.

"Yes," I answered.

"Oh. Well I was just calling to make sure because I just met some friends of mine and we're to this bar downtown," He told me.

"For how long?" I asked as I tied up my hair. He blew out a puff of air.

"Umm...I don't really know, but I'm probably going to be awhile," He informed me.

"Okay. Don't drink too much," I said.

"I won't," He promised.

"And please be aware of your surroundings," I told him.

"Why would I be aware?" He asked in confusion.

"Bitches are crazy these days and you're a good looking man," I answered.

"Ah. Gotcha," He said, "But I'll be sure to be aware of my surroundings."

"Just be safe in general, please," I said.

"Daphne, don't worry. I'll be fine," He chuckled.

"Well can you blame me for worrying?" I questioned.

"No. I can't," He responded.

"Alright. Well I'm gonna hang up now so you can hang out with your boys," I smiled.

"I love you," He told me.

"I love you too," I smiled again.

"I'll see you soon," He murmured.

"You too."
