《Love on Top》Ch.31

It was a week after the whole incident with Sidney and honestly I was regretting what I had done. I had falsely accused Sam of cheating on me with Sidney. I didn't even take the time to think that maybe, just maybe that Sidney had done this in spite of me. After all, she blames me for breaking up her sham of a engagement with Fredrick. Just thinking about that bitch makes me want to sneak into her house and choke the living shit out of her, but I have other things to worry about besides that petty ass little girls hate for me. I have to worry about how I'm going to apologize to Sam for accusing him. It's been a week and I know that I took too long to even apologize, but I was anxious and guilty. I was anxious because I didn't think he would accept my apology. I was feeling guilty because I just let myself jump to conclusions all because of my insecurities about how he would leave me some day for something better, like some Victoria's Secret model. To be honest, I always thought about him doing that, leaving me for a runway with stunning good looks and
"Daphne, you okay?" Chastity asked from the other side of the door.
"I'm fine," I mumbled.
"Daphne, I know when you're lying," She said as she entered the room.
"I'm just nervous. That's all," I replied.
"Oh," She nods.
"What if he doesn't accept my apology?" I asked.
"If he doesn't, and I doubt it, then that means that he doesn't love you at all," She explained.
"I'm worried over nothing," I sighed as I sat down on the bed.
"No you're not. You made a mistake and you let yourself get fooled by that bitch Sidney," She said. The way she said her name sent chills down my spine.
"I can't believe I didn't even let him explain at all. I jumped to conclusions without even realizing that Sidney and the Wicked Bitch of the North were plotting against me the entire time," I mumbled.
"Me too," She sighed.
"I knew that they were both horrible people, but I didn't think that they would stoop low enough to do that to me," I murmured.
"I can believe it," Chastity mumbled.

"How?" I looked at her.
"Remember Jamal?" She asked.
"Yeah," I looked at her.
"Sidney, who was 18 at the time, had slept with him because Nick, her ex-boyfriend, dumped her because he wanted to try and pursue me, keyword is try," She explained.
"Wait. You told me that he cheated on you with some girl from his college," I said.
"I lied because Diane told me to. She told me that maybe if I wasn't seducing my little sister's boyfriend, then maybe, just maybe, this wouldn't have happened," She informed me.
"What the hell? Are you fucking kidding me? Why didn't you tell me?" I queried.
"Because at the time you were already dealing with your own shit and I just didn't want to add on to it," She explained.
"Chastity, so what if I was? That didn't mean that you had to hide it from me," I murmured.
"I know, but my problems weren't as important as yours were. Remember? You had practically starved yourself for at least a week during college and you passed out in the middle of class too," She said.
"But still-"
"Daphne, don't worry about it. I'm over it now because I have a weird ass husband who loves me, a son who loves to drive me crazy, and a baby girl who poops as much as she eats," She explained. I chuckled.
"Now. You need to stop talking to me and go to that man's house to apologize to him," She said.
"I will," I mumbled.
"That's the spirit," She cheered, "Did you make sure to pack your bags?"
"Yes," I rolled my eyes.
"You have everything right?" She queried.
"Yes," I answered.
"Good. Now get out my house and go give your man some make up head," She smirked.
"Eww. Don't say that to me again," I tell her.
"Why?" She asked.
"You're my sister and that's just weird," I responded.
"So what? Even if I wasn't your sister, I'd still say the same thing," She tells me.
"Whatever. I'm leaving," I rolling my eyes.
"Goodbye," She tells me.
"Mhm," I replied.
When I arrived at Sam's house, I parked on the curb right next to his mailbox. I sat in my car and looked at his house. I could feel my nerves start to jump a little.

"You can do this, Daphne," I mumbled to myself. I gathered up whatever courage I had left and got out of my car. As I walked towards the front door, I could feel myself getting more and more anxious with each step I took. As soon as I reached the door, I rang the doorbell once. I waited patiently for him to answer the door. I started to bounce my leg up and down as I stood there.
The door opens to reveal Sam standing there in jeans, a long sleeved gray shirt, and socks. He looked at me with a blank expression. I picked up the courage to look him in the eyes.
"Oh. It's you," He said. That stung a little.
"Can we talk?" I asked.
"Why? So you can accuse me of cheating again?" He queried. I deserved that one.
"Sam, I-"
"Daphne, you didn't even take the time to talk things out with me. You just left and when I tried to go and explain it to you, I got punched in the face," He hissed.
"Sam, I'm sorry," I tell him.
"Oh now you're sorry?" He asked.
"Yes I am. I am very sorry for not even listening to you," I replied.
"Where was that 'sorry' almost a week ago?" He snapped.
"It hurt to know that you didn't even trust me enough to believe me, Daphne. It hurt to know that you could so easily accuse me of cheating when you know that I would never ever do that to you," He explained. I felt the guilt start to weigh down on me.
"Daphne, after that whole thing, it felt like you didn't even trust me to begin with and it felt like you probably think the worst of me," He said.
"I don't think the worst of you, Sam," I said.
"Doesn't feel like it," He muttered.
"Sam, I do trust you, but it's just that...it's just that...never mind," I shook my head.
"It's just what, Daphne?" He asked.
"Nothing, Sam. Nothing," I shook my head.
"Tell me, Daphne. It's just what?" He asked.
"Just drop it please," I said.
"It's just what?" He persisted.
"My insecurities got in the way!" I exclaimed.
"Daphne," He softly said.
"When I saw that whole exchange, I was upset and I tried so hard to believe that you wouldn't do something like that, but I got so insecure because I thought that maybe you'd realize that you wanted to leave me for something better," I explained as I felt tears start to slide down my cheek.
"Daphne-" He started to say.
"No, Sam. I let my insecurities get in the way and I hurt you. I can't forgive myself for that," I cried.
"Daphne, I would never leave you because there isn't anyone out there better than you," He tells me.
"Sam, you're just saying that," I wiped away my tears.
"No I'm not, Daphne," He shook his head as he pulled me into his arms. I stayed silent and listened to him.
"I'm not saying it just to say it. I'm saying it because it I love you and I will never find someone better than you. You're all I need now," He explained. I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him. We stayed like that for a while until I stopped crying.
"I love you, Sam," I said.
"I love you too, Daphne," He replied. He kissed me on my forehead and I smiled faintly.
"Did Chastity tell you to come over here?" He asked.
"Yeah. She told me to come and apologize to you," I answered.
"Did she also kick you out?" He queried.
"Pfft. No," I lied shaking my head.
"You're a terrible liar, Daphne," He smiled down at me.
"Yeah she told me to apologize, then she told me to pack my bags and leave," I murmured. He started to laugh at what I said.
"Is it funny?" I asked.
"Yes," He responded. I rolled my eyes slightly.
"All jokes aside, I really am sorry, Sam," I said.
"I forgive you, Daphne," He replied. I kissed him softly on the cheek and hugged him. He hugged me back.
"Now let's head inside because it's cold out here," He tells me.
"That would be a good idea," I agreed.
