When Yan Shuyu was in a session that afternoon, the newly-hired receptionist came looking for her excitedly. "Miss Yan, there's a man asking for you outside!"

Even though Yan Shuyu had turned into Instructor Yan now, but she didn't mature much more than she was before. She could tell from the look on her colleague that the man she was talking about must be extremely handsome.

The receptionist had met the boss before and she would not have referred to him as "a man". She would have said her boyfriend was there. So that must be an extremely handsome met that she had not met before. Yan Shuyu was very curious as well but, looking at the pure eyes of her pupils, she was able to calm herself down and said to the girl in a low voice, "I am still in class. Maybe have him wait a little bit for me?"

Xiao Zheng, the receptionist, hesitated. "I told him that you will be done in 20 minutes but he said it is urgent and it has to do with Yuanbao."

"Yuanbao?' Yan Shuyu was nervous all of a sudden. "Are you sure he said Yuanbao?"

Xiao Zheng nodded with certainty and added. "He said Yuanbao first, then he used his name."

Yan Shuyu had a bold guess all of a sudden. She couldn't wait any longer and had Xiao Zheng showed the man to the break room while she asked among her colleagues to see who could substitute for her for the last 20 minutes of her session. When someone walked over to her, she couldn't wait to get up. "Xiao Zheng just told me that there was someone looking for me. Let me go check it now."

Her colleague smiled and waved. "Yeah, go, go. I got this."

There weren't a lot of people in the rest area on a weekday. When Yan Shuyu pushed open the door, she saw a slender and fair-skinned man sitting there. She had never seen him before but, for some inexplicable reasons, she called out his name reflexively, "Zhang Xiaolu?"

"Yanyan," blurted out the other party, at the same time as her. His voice was filled with pleasant surprise and emotions.

After the initial greeting, the two of them fell silence together. Yan Shuyu didn't know where to start. She wasn't original owner; she didn't know how to express her feelings seeing him again. And, how did a dead person come back to life? That was not mentioned in the original novel either.

True was, Yan Shuyu even felt odd being called "Yanyan." She has had that nickname since her previous life so she was used to it. She only felt odd because she felt that the original owner's late husband should not have referred to her with that nickname. "Yan Shuyu" wasn't the original owner's original name, but one that she had given herself later on. Her original last name was not Yan. Alternatively, perhaps original owner had "Yanyan" as her nickname beforehand, which was why she picked the name Yan Shuyu?

Everything happened so suddenly that Yan Shuyu's brain was a jumble.

Standing in front of her, the way that "Zhang XiaoLo" was looking at her was also particularly complicated. It was a mixture of excitement, exhilaration, longing, and guilt... wait a minute. Where did the guilt come from? Yan Shuyu really wanted to ask this "ex husband" what had he done to his wife and son that made him feel guilt. Then again, she wasn't the original owner after all, so she finally decided against it.

The two of them locked eyes for a long white before Yan Shuyu slowly closed the door behind her. She took a couple of steps forward and broke the silence. She asked a bit awkwardly, "These last few years... how have you been?"

"Zhang XiaoLu"'s eyes deepened again and the there was so much guilt that they could start oozing out of them.

In original owner's memory, her ex-husband was a very happy-go-lucky and somewhat rebellious big boy. This young man in front of her, however, seemed very blue. She gathered even if it was original owner standing here in her place right now, she might even had a hard time accepting that this was Zhang XiaoLu.

Looking at how Zhang XiaoLu was struggling to get his words out, Yan Shuyu's bad feeling got progressively stronger.

As she had already broken the silence, the two finally sat down not to far away from each other and started catching up. Mainly it was "Zhang XiaoLu" catching her up on what had happened to him in the last few years.

Truth was, he was, indeed, kidnapped. His real parents were prominent figures. His father was in politics and was assigned to a post in the province next to where they grew up. When his mother brought him to visit his father one time when he was three years old, he was taken from her at the crowded trains station. He ended up in a backward village. Unfortunately, he was too young at the time and didn't retain much of the memories.

His parents had been looking for him over the years but all of their efforts were like searching for a needle in a haystack, all of them fruitless. His father continued to climbed the political ladder and they ended up in Capital City. As such, the past had slowly been left behind.

The reason "Zhang XiaoLu" was finally located mainly because of his striking resemblance to his father. A few years ago, a cousin of his came to their city for a business trip and bumped into Zhang XiaoLu. He was shocked when he saw the young man who looked almost identical to his uncle when he was young.

His cousin was a few years older than him and the frenzy at home during the period of time when his cousin was lost was very memorable. He set out to look into it right away and wanted to find out the truth before he looped in his family. Except the accident came too abruptly. The cousin had just started looking into him before the shooting and the car explosion. A few of the hooligans died on the spot. "Zhang XiaoLu", too, was in critical condition. His cousin, who had been monitoring him actively, sent him to the hospital right away and that was the reason he was saved.

"Zhang XiaoLu" was seriously injured and stayed in ICU for two weeks. The DNA test result came back before he even regained consciousness and it was confirmed that he was the long-lost child of the cousin's family. His parents were both happy and sad at the same time and wanted to transfer him back to Capital City to continue his treatment. The experts at the time said the situation was very dire. That Zhang XiaoLu could either become paraplegic or remain in a persistent vegetated state. His parents had both money and relationships, so they had their mind set on providing him with the best medical care that money could buy.

If only his condition would have allowed, his mother would have quit her job and take her to the USA for treatment.

The entire family's attention was focused on the one who was in critical condition. His cousin's investigation results also came back during this time and he learned that "Zhang XiaoLu" was married and have a child. His parent, on the other hand, could not spare the attention on that. They just wanted to wait till his had recovered before they decided on their next move. "Zhang XiaoLu" finally regained consciousness two months later. He was not paraplegic, but it was true that he wasn't able to walk right away. Most importantly, he had sustained serious injury to his head and had lost his memories.

Luckily, he was already out of the woods and his parents could finally spare their efforts to tend to matters of Yan Shuyu and her son. Lo and behold, they were infuriated when they saw the reports on Yan Shuyu.

Per the investigation, "Zhang Xiaolu" was bought by the Zhang family. The Zhang couple did not treat him as well as they did their own child but, as a boy, they were still much nicer to him than the girls in the Zhang family. They didn't beat him or scold him and even sent him to school. Had he not run off, he would have been able to pass the national college entrance examination and get out of that environment. Nevertheless, being encouraged by the original owner, he ran off with her before he finished his own education. Without family or academic background, he couldn't even get a semi-decent job and could only become a hooligan to support his family. Worst of all, he always died on the streets.

As his parents, the more upset they were about what had happened to their son over the years, the angrier they were with the original owner. They were already angry at the village that had kidnapped their son, now they were even more upset after learning about what had happened.

Logic would dictate that they would just blame the original owner but not ignore their grandson who was related to them by blood. Except that by the time they wanted to do something about them, the original owner had already learned about her husband's death from others long ago. She cried day in and day out for a long time but life must go on. The two of them were never wealthy and there was also a not-too-strong child that needed to be fed. The original owner had no choice but to wipe off her tears and go earn money to support the two of them.

She had tried but many of the positions that she had applied for led up to nothing. Even when she was able to finally secured herself a job, she knew that it would not work out after a day or two. She couldn't leave the child at home. So she finally gritted her teeth and went to work at a nightclub.

The parents of "Zhang Xiaolu" had a negative preconception about her from the very beginning. When they learned that she had went to work at a nightclub shortly after their son had "passed away", they only thought that she was an unscrupulous and rapacious person. The mother of "Zhang Xiaolu" was born of high status and had only came across what was innocent and positive in her life. She even suspected that Yan Shuyu was a tramp and that the child might not even be related to them.

As such, how would it be their responsibility to take care of the two of them?

As "Zhang Xiaolu" had amnesia, his family took the opportunity to erase all traces of his past and had the original owner mother and son thought that he was dead. No matter what the two did in the future, it would have nothing to do with his family...

Listening to the original owner's husband talking about what had happened after his "death", all Yan Shuyu could think of was how cliché that was. That gave her a lot of pressure. She finally said dryly, "There, there are so many twists and turns. What happened after that?"

"Zhang Xiaolu"'s reaction was quite interesting as well. He looked at her with his eyes widened for a little while and suddenly broke into a smile. His eyes curved, and even though his skin was now a few shades lighter than before, the warmth radiating from him was still very infectious.

He seemed to have finally overlapped some with how he was in the original owner's memory and Yan Shuyu, too, smiled with him reflexively.

"Then I stayed in the hospital for another year and spent another year doing physical therapy before I could stand again," said Zhang Xiaolu jokingly as he patted himself on his own leg. "They weren't being very cooperative."

Yan Shuyu pursed her lips a little. The smile had eased things a lot, so she asked, "Then you must have changed back to your original name. What is it?"

"My real name is Ye Rongchen."

"Ye, huh? So Yuanbao will become Ye Yuanjia?" Yan Shuyu couldn't help but frowned a little. "That sounds a little odd."

Ye Rongchen just smiled at her. He wasn't surprised by the jump in her train of thought at all. His lips cracked opened and he said, "We don't have to change it if you don't like it."

Yan Shuyu didn't care about that one way or another. Her son's name was even changed to Zhou Yuanjia in the original novel. She knew that he was her son and that was enough. Everything else was secondary. As such, she said generously, "You are his father. You have the right to make that decision too."

Ye Rongchen continued to smile at her.

Even though his smile overlapped with the original owner's memory, but his mannerism still gave Yan Shuyu the creeps. She remained silent for a little while before asking, "I thought you had amnesia. How did you find me here then?"

She seemed to have nailed the question. Ye Rongchen slowly stopped smiling and asked a little dispirited, "Aren't you... going to ask me how I was in these last few years?"

Yan Shuyu was a little stumped. She knew that her reaction wasn't reasonable. If the original owner was here, her biggest concern would probably be whether he was in a relationship or has been married after all these years. Her first reaction would not have been asking about his name.

Except that she wasn't the original owner!
