With official wedding banquet like this, the entrée might not be too overly delicate but the all-you-can-eat wine and beverages, cupcakes and fruits all looked very tempting. Yan Shuyu had noticed them a while ago and couldn't wait to start as soon as her burdens were gone.

Yan Shuyu had, after all, attended many banquets with the boss. She wouldn't say that she had meant many compatible friends but there were certain a few at the venue that she was familiar with. She may not know them very well but she could for sure chitchat with them. Eating and chatting, it was bustling around Yan Shuyu and she had inadvertently forgot all about the boss and the little kiddos.

By the time she realized that they had been gone for quite a white, the little black and white little kiddos had already come looking for her. Yan Shuyu turned around but didn't see the boss anywhere near them. She was even more puzzled. "Xiao Yi, where is your dad?"

For the first time ever, Zhou Yi did not respond. He gave Zhang Yuanjia a look and Zhang Yuanjia had an even more peculiar look on him. He walked up and tugged at her sleeve. And, just like that, the baffled Yan Shuyu was dragged by the little kiddos toward an area with very few people. She thought they had something they wanted to tell her in private but, as soon as they were about to walk through an arched door, she heard a light sobbing sound. Yan Shuyu stopped in her tracks and felt excited all of a sudden. Oooh, she could sense a melon coming her way!

The little kiddos, as if on cue, had also stopped at the same time as her. They were all standing there except that both Zhang Yuanjia and Zhou Yi looked up at her and their looks were full of concern.

Looking at the two of them, Yan Shuyu suddenly had a bad feeling. She wanted to eat melon, but not her own melon. That wouldn't be a good thing at all.....

Yan Shuyu started worrying whether the boss was being lovey-dovey with someone else behind her back. That being said, she was not one to remain silent. She must find out for herself once the suspicion had started. As such, she waved for the little boys to back up as she hid behind the wall, getting ready to peep.

Zhang Yuanjia and Zhou Yi were not very docile this time. They were both children matured beyond their age. The fact that they had brought her here without saying a word meant that they had an idea about what was going on. The boys refused to leave and, furthermore, mimicked how she had hide behind the wall and also start peeping.

Yan Shuyu didn't feel that it was a good thing for the boys to do but now was not the time. Her focus right now wasn't the boys learning something bad from her. As such, after a little bit of hesitation, she remained steadfastly staying there to peek.

The situation was, indeed, peculiar on the other side of the wall. It was a man and a woman standing there facing each other. The man had his back to them and all they could see was his elegant and handsome back. They couldn't see the face of the woman. either. All they could see was her beautiful, cascading long hair and her very delicate shoulder. If one looked closely enough, one could even see that her shoulder was trembling slight. Any other man would have felt pitiful toward her already.

All in all, the two just stood there facing each other quietly. Just from their silhouette alone, they gave the match made in heaven feel.

Yan Shuyu wasn't blind. She could tell that the man was the boss right away. She was the one who picked up his outfit today. Of course she would recognize it. She did not immediately dash out there to confront him because from just what she could see of the woman's dress, Yan Shuyu already knew that she was the beauty that she had seen in front of the school the other day.

Looking at the little male lead by her feet who was still very delicate even with a long face and, combining that with the way that the woman was staring at him the other day, Yan Shuyu suddenly had a very bold speculation. Could the beauty be the little male lead's birth mother aka the boss's legendary ex-wife?

Being with the boss for a while, Yan Shuyu had learned a lot about his family. Some were told to her by the boss and some were from the little male lead, the aunty at the boss's place, Secretary Lu who had been with him for years and, occasionally, even Louis and Robin. The little male lead's real mother, though, was one who had never showed up in any conversation.

As everybody had avoided the subject so and Yan Shuyu did not care too much about it herself, she never tried to pry. After all, the stepmother had been married to the boss for over 10 years and the male lead's mother had never shown up once. It was as though this person had never existed and it was fair to assume that that would remain unchanged.

Granted, she only wanted to date the boss and had no interest in being the next Mrs. Zhou. Even if the male lead's mother was to shown up, it would have nothing to do with her.

Looking at the two of them standing there facing each other, Yan Shuyu suddenly recalled what rich woman Madam Qin had said a year ago.

Qin Luoyi had mentioned that Boss Zhou's ex wife's surname was Lin and she was from a wealthy family as well. She had further mentioned that the boss's ex-wife was among the top in looks in their circle and was leaps and bounds better than Yan Shuyu. Back in the days, the union between Boss Zhou and Mrs. Zhou had rocked the entire city and the two of them were considered a match made in heaven. Recalling the words of the rich woman, Yan Shuyu couldn't help but felt a little jealous. Surely little male lead's mother was a beauty, but she wouldn't say that she was that much prettier.

Okay, the helpless look on her that would naturally make others want to be protective on her was a rare quality that was not often seen. Even steel could be bend around a little finger. She supposed only women like that would be considered the best in a man's eyes. All in all, she herself would never become a woman that was soft and tender like water.

Taking another look at the man and woman standing quietly facing each other, Yan Shuyu felt displeased. The boss had come over to this quiet corner purposefully to have a conversation with his ex-wife. She felt that it was not her place to be standing around and watch. She was just about to take off with the little kiddos when the boss, suddenly acted like he had eyes on the back of his head, somehow was able to reach his hand toward where they were without even looking back. Then, he waved his hand a few times as though he was waving at a puppy, "Yanyan,

why don't you take the kids over to say hi?"

"Say, say hi?" Yan Shuyu was startled. She was baffled. What was it that was going through the boss's mind?

Zhang Yuanjia and Zhou Yi were very pro active. They felt much more righteous than her and immediately walked out while holding her hands when they heard that.

The sobbing, tear-stained beauty also looked up and looked at them. Stunned, she took a step back and her limpid eyes looked back and forth between Zhang Yuanjia and Zhou Qinhe. Then, nobody knew what had gone through her mind, she said as though she had made a big decision, "We will let bygones be bygones but we can still have a future together. What do you say, Qinhe?"

The message was very loaded. Yan Shuyu, paused on her way, suddenly didn't want to walk up anymore. Boss Zhou, who was standing much closer to the beauty seemed not to have heard the suggestiveness in the beauty's words at all. He turned around and urged them, "C'mon over, Yanyan-"

Her name, being said once again by the boss, boosted Yan Shuyu's sense of existence. She had noticed how this woman, who was likely to be the male lead's mother, had looked at her son a few times and also at the boss and the little male lead. She had, never once, looked at her.

Yan Shuyu had never been so completely ignored by anyone ever since she had transmigrated into a gorgeous woman. That was a bit awkward.

And now, the beauty had all of her attention turned to Yan Shuyu. She looked at her in a bluish way with her limpid eyes. Her eyes seemed to be filled with sadness and feeling like being treated unfairly. Her look made Yan Shuyu felt a pang of guilt. She tried to resist the pressure passively but was finally dragged over there by her son and the little male lead.

Yan Shuyu was very appreciative of both her instant son and little male lead abandoning the boss to deliver the message to her. As such, she had no heart to blame them too much so all of her disgruntlement was directed toward the boss. When they had gotten closer, she couldn't help but grumbled, "Why do you insisted on us coming over?"

Zhou Qinhe gave her a smile that wasn't a smile. "Weren't you eavesdropping over there first?"

Yan Shuyu said very righteously, "Well, you never said a word and we were just about to leave."

"Well, you are over here already. Might as well say hi." The awkwardness between the two women didn't seem to bother Boss Zhou at all. He put his arm around Yan Shuyu, pulled her closer, smiled and said, "You have probably already figured. This is Lin Surong, Xiao Yi's mother."

When Yan Shuyu was just about to explain that she wasn't thinking about it at all, the boss had already looked down at his son and said gently to him, "Xiao Yi, say hi to your mother."

As smart as Zhou Yi was, he was, after all, just a child and was not as smart as his Aunty Yan. He was a little stunned after hearing his dad's words and looked at Lin Surong for a little while with his eyes widened as though he was trying to confirm something. Finally, he greeted her casually, "Good evening, Mom."

He could have been greeting a stranger with his tone.

The tender and emotional Lin Surong was already choking back her tears with her hand over her mouth. There were tears in her beautiful eyes, which were curved with happiness inside of them. She walked up and stroked him on his head. "Darling, you have grown so much."

Zhang Yuanjia held onto his mother's hand tightly, at loss. He had always thought that his little buddy had no matter. The same way that he had no father. Having a mother was a good thing so how come Xiao Yi didn't look all that excited seeing his mother?

The little kiddo looked up at his mother with question marks all over his face. Yan Shuyu, however, was even more baffled than he was right now. The mother and son duo looked at the other mother and son duo and listened in on their casual exchange of pleasantries before they parted ways. The little male lead's mother finally walked toward the main venue while turning around frequently as she walked.

So when the boss said to come and say hi, he literally meant to come and say hi?

Yan Shuyu was completely dumbfounded. After they have returned to the venue, she did not spot Lin Surong again for the rest of the night. Looking at how calm both the boss and the little male lead were, she tried very hard to suppress all the questions that she had. Once they have gotten home, she quickly grabbed the boss and asked, "What is the story with your ex-wife?"

She was so anxious that she didn't even remove her makeup or take off her jewelries yet. Boss Zhou, on the other hand, was very relaxed. He started taking off his jacket and remove his tie as soon as he had walked inside of their apartment. His voice, too, was indifferent. "Oh, I didn't know that she had returned to China either. Uncle Yan had been very close with the Lin's as of late. Had I known I would have looked for some excuses to get out of the gathering tonight."

That was, unfortunately, not Yan Shuyu's question. She looked at the boss solemnly. "I could tell already. Did she want to get back with you?"

"Sounds like it." Zhou Qinhe lowered his head and unbuttoned his shirt casually as though what they were talking about was of little importance.

He didn't care much about it but Yan Shuyu didn't feel the same way. She couldn't help but stuck her head closer to him and asked, "So? What are your thoughts on it?"

"Me?" Zhou Qinhe stopped what he was doing for a second before he looked over. His eyes were piercing like sharp knives when he looked up and, immediately, Yan Shuyu was intimidated and stopped talking.

Luckily, that was short-lived, and the boss's look mellowed out again. His lips curving upward, he asked in a very sincere tone, "Why don't you tell me your thoughts first?"
