Chapter 68 - He really wanted to ask his girlfriend whether she got the key takeaway

The WeChat from Yan Shuyu to the boss was simple and crude. It simply stated that the two little dinosaurs wanted to video chat with him and asked whether he was available. She had already had her share of chatting with the boss over dinner and now the draw of the boss was way less than that of removing her makeup and showering. She connected the phone, handed it to the two boys waiting next to her, and walked inside the bathroom with her pajamas.

The bathroom was still reasonably soundproof. Once the door was closed, one could barely hear what was going on outside. Yan Shuyu quickly remembered that she had forgotten to remind them to not talk for too long. It was already bedtime.

But then she realized that the boss was a very busy man. Even if he had time to chat with them, he’d at most have about two minutes or so. They shouldn’t be on the phone for too long. It would not be necessary for her to remind them. She then settled for happily removing her makeup and giving herself a massage.

She had underestimated Boss Zhou’s patience with the little kids. Yan Shuyu busied herself for 10 minutes and even finished her skincare routine. When she finally cheerfully walked out of the bathroom, the two little dinosaurs were still squeezed together and rambling on with their arms and legs waving in the air.

Surprised, Yan Shuyu stopped on her tracks and remained where she was.

She didn’t make a sound, but Zhang Yuanjia and Zhou Yi did not overlook her. The both looked up at the same time and waved at her happily. “Mom/Aunty Yan, c’mon over…”

Yan Shuyu walked over there but only sat down on the bed and asked gently, “It’s getting so late already. Aren’t you two tired?”

The little kiddos were quite tired, especially Zhang Yuanjia. If Yan Shuyu was to look close enough, she would see that his eyes were already turning red. As such, he took a look at the cellphone and asked docilely, “Mom, do you want to say goodnight to Uncle Zhou?”

Yan Shuyu wanted to say that would not be necessary when the boss’s melodious voice came over the phone after hearing their conversation. “Yanyan?”

Zhou Yi nicely handed the cellphone over to Yan Shuyu. Yan Shuyu couldn’t possibly turn him down so she stroked his face and took the cellphone from him.

Yan Shuyu didn’t want to video chat with the boss without makeup on, but she was very confident with her current look. That being said, as far as looks were concerned, the boss wasn’t half bad himself either. Not only was he so handsome that made others have a hard time keeping their knees together, his natural-born noble temperament made it look like he had halos on all the time. His entire person was out of this world. So, if only looks were considered, it was difficult to say who was the reacher here.

With such an amazing boyfriend, Yan Shuyu had to always shoot for her best and hoped that she was very pretty every time the two of them met up.

Unfortunately, both the kiddos wanted to watch her chat with the boss, so Yan Shuyu would have to go along with them. She found the best angle of herself and the first thing that she did was to ask the boss, “Do I look different today?”

She figured the boss was the kind of straight male who couldn’t tell whether a woman has makeup on anyway, so it really wouldn’t matter if she did have it on or not.

Unfortunately, she had underestimated the boss. He noticed it right away and pointed it out. “You’ve just showered and removed your makeup?”

The boss' look was gentle, but Yan Shuyu was still unhappy about it. Pointing with disappointment, she said, “You are good.”

Whatever happened to the innocent straight male?

“It was obvious.” Without giving Yan Shuyu a change to get upset, Boss Zhou looked at her tenderly and caringly, “You looked 4-5 years younger. Even younger than some college students…”

“You are very pretty.” Zhou Qinhe’s voice became deeper and deeper. The last two words sounded like they had rolled around in his mouth before he enunciated them and also sounded very suggestive.

Nevertheless, Yan Shuyu failed to get his sense of romance. She was ecstatic as soon as she heard the “few years younger” part. Stroking her own cheek, she asked happily, “Do you really think that I look younger and prettier without makeup on?”

Truth was, if it wasn’t for her instant son, she felt that she could totally look like she was still 18 years old without a problem. But it was very conceited for her to think that. It was much more reliable when that came from the boss.

Boss Zhou in the video chat, “……”

He really wanted to ask his girlfriend whether she got the key takeaway. But, looking at her beaming face, he nodded cooperatively and said, “Yes, very pretty. I hope I am the only one who sees this side of you.”

Yan Shuyu, whose confidence had well exceeded what it should be from the praises, naturally agreed to his little request. She nodded without hesitation, “Okay. I promise. Seeing how sincere you were when you groveled.”

Zhou Qinhe, “……”

“Thank you?”

“No problem.” Yan Shuyu, very pleased, pushed her face close to the camera in an effort to increase the impact from her beauty. Unfortunately, she was not able to keep that up for too long. She started yawning despite her best effort and remembered that she was just trying to get the kids into bed. Standing up, she said, “It’s getting late. We should go to bed. Byee~”

Zhou Qinhe maintained his quiet smile and said, “Sleep tight, Yanyan.”

With the boss’s blessing, Yan Shuyu slept in between two handsome little boys.

That’s right, she showed no comity toward the little boys but took the middle spot on the bed.

Well, alright, she didn’t really do that on purpose. But there were three of them and only one of them could take the middle spot. The two kids who had been courteous to each other this entire time suddenly became very persistent on this point and neither one would back down.

After a few seconds of deadlock, Yan Shuyu finally yawned and suggested irresponsibly, “Why don’t I take the middle spot then?”

Surprisingly, as soon as she said that, both Zhang Yuanjia and Zhou Yi nodded in synchrony, “Alright.”

And that’s how she ended up sleeping between the two boys.

Albeit it wasn’t Yan Shuyu’s original intention, but she adapted to it very well. With her son snuggled up against her tightly on her right and the little male lead snuggled up to her also with a look of trust on his face, the two little bodies worked like two super-efficient heaters and kept Yan Shuyu very warm the entire night. After a good night's sleep, she was very reluctant to leave the bed after she woke up.

She wanted to stay in bed for longer, but unfortunately, Zhang Yuanjia and Zhou Yi would not work with her on that one.

Zhang Yuanjia woke up per his biological clock. He was going to get up and get ready by himself just like he normally does, but after he rolled over, he recalled that his little buddy had stayed over at his place last night and was sleeping on the other side of his mother. He worried that he’d wake up, so he laid back down stiffly before he laid there and quietly waited for his mother and his little buddy to wake up.

He didn’t have to wait too long before Yan Shuyu also woke up on her own. She had just stretched comfortably when she heard her son eagerly asking her, “Mom? Are you awake? Is Xiao Yi awake?”

Yan Shuyu, who wanted to stay in bed for longer, kept her eyes closely shut pretending that she was still asleep. Unexpectedly, Zhou Yi, lying on her left side, had also awoke. Hearing his little buddy’s voice, he also said softly, “Yuanbao, I am awake too.”

As the two children had already started talking to each other, it no longer mattered whether Yan Shuyu feigned sleeping or not. Zhang Yuanjia asked softly, “Do you want to get up, Xiao Yi? I can take you to get freshened up.”

Zhou Yi was tempted but asked considerately, “Would we wake up Aunty Yan though?”

Zhang Yuanjia chuckled and said, “Don’t worry about it. Mom’s already awake. She’s just pretending that she’s still asleep.”

Yan Shuyu, “…..”

That’s her own son alright. Yan Shuyu, being called out, rolled over, her arms around the pillow and her eyes squinting, said, “Okay, you two can get up if you want. You can open up the curtains as well. As long as you don’t bother me, you two can do whatever you want.”

Zhou Yi was finally reassured. He rolled out of bed with his friend, and the two of them walked into the bathroom while holding hands.

To Zhang Yuanbao and the little young master, brushing their teeth and washing their faces were no big deal. Even though it took way longer than doing it bythemselves, the two of them were able to help each other out and finally completed the tasks. But changing afterward was proven to be much more of a challenge.

The little kiddos stood in front of the closet and discussed with each other, “Xiao Yi, what are you going to be wearing today?”

“What about you, Yuanbao?”

Zhang Yuanbao said with slight embarrassment, “I want to wear the suit that you have given me!”

The little young master said immediately, “Okay, then I will wear the suit too.”

“Okay, we will dress like brothers!” said Zhang Yuanjia as he had happily come to a decision. He pulled out their suits on his tipped toes and carried them over to the bay window.

Placing the suits neatly on the bay window, the excited Zhang Yuanjia suddenly asked, “Xiao Yi, do you know how to put this on yourself?”

“I have never put it on by myself before…” replied Zhou Yi, feeling slightly embarrassed.

Zhang Yuanjia was baffled as well. “I have never put a suit on by myself either.”

Both the mother and son duo felt that the custom-made suit that Yan Shuyu had ordered for Zhang Yuanjia was too formal and didn’t have a lot of opportunities to put it on. As such, Zhang Yuanjia had only worn it once on his birthday.

Zhang Yuanjia had a big six-year-old birthday party. As he was everybody’s favorite at Sunshine House, when Manager Yang and the other little buddies found out that it was his birthday, they decorated the coffee shop with ribbons and balloons. Manager Yang had further paid for a fondant cake out of his own pocket. Yan Shuyu had invited some kids from the kindergarten, Instructor Lin and Instructor Liu, and also Teacher Xiao Lin from the kindergarten to celebrate with him.

That was Zhang Yuanjia’s most memorable birthday, and he had dressed up as grand as a little prince.

He was very passive the entire day. His mother had taken care of everything for him including his hair and his outfit. He had paid no attention to any of those; as such, he could do nothing but to stare at his very fancy suits right now.

That being said, Zhang Yuanjia was not one to give up when faced with a challenge. He thought about it quietly for a little bit and finally, clenching his fit, came up with an idea, “My teacher had always said strength by the numbers. We will just do it one at a time.”

Zhou Yi, being the gentleman that he always was, said, “You first.”

“Okay.” Zhang Yuanjia also agreed with alacrity. “Let me put mine on first, then I will help you with yours.”

And the kids got into action. Hearing every word that they have exchanged, Yan Shuyu still stubbornly buried her face in the pillow and pretended that she was still asleep. She was, however, quite pleased. It was alright that they torture their new clothes, as long as they were not torturing her.

Nevertheless, that did not work out the way that she had hoped. Surely, they did not go and torture her voluntarily, but their conversation and noises that would drive her insane kept on coming…

“Xiao Yi, is this how you button this up?”

“Yeah, that’s how the adults do it.”

“Why did it look off to me?”

“It looks like… you’ve done it incorrectly?”

“What do I do now?”

“Unbutton it and start over.”

“This shirt is so difficult.”

“Yeah!!”

She didn’t even look up but was able to tell how clumsy, confused, and desperate they were just from their tone. Yan Shuyu was still laughing inside at the beginning. Never mind about the little male lead, he came with gold fingers. Her son, as the major cannon fodder, has just about as many gold fingers as the male lead at the beginning. These two mischievous kids together were torturous to her. She was quite enjoying the moment with the two of them in distress.

A few minutes later, Yan Shuyu no longer found it funny. Their troubled voices became irritating after a while. She finally crawled out of bed and the two kiddos, as though they had rehearsed it previously, turned and looked at her in synchrony as though they were looking at their savior.

“Mom…”

“Aunty Yan…”
